Dennis Duckworth came on July 31, inspected affected areas and applied products necessary to get rid of the problem. They both couldn't have been nicer and more cooperative. I am now very satisfied and will recommend the company Gold Seal in the future.
Description of Work: Inspected trouble areas and crawl space for mice. Provided needed pest control products to rid mice from complaint areas.

They controlled them well and we did not see any signifiant numbers of ants since their spraying.Employee was very professional and polite.

+ -1 moreHe did an okay job. He sprayed outside twice and I would have thought it would have nailed the little critters. We didn’t have any ants for 60-70 days but then the little guys came back. We didn’t have them the way we usually do and we didn’t get the big ants back. We may or may not do it next year. He told us that treatment was good for about 90 days; my expectations were that it would be for longer but it was what it was. I’m not upset and think I got fooled but I’m not going to say, “Hey, that’s what I’m going to do next year.” I’m in the middle. He probably did a good job based on industry standards. To meet my expectations, he probably would have had to put down something that would kill all bugs for six blocks. I’m not faulting him. I’m looking at the cost effectiveness of it.

+ -1 moreIt was late in the day, after 5, and I was surprised that a knowledgeable person answered the phone and took time with me (thought I'd have to leave a message). Phil guided me through a process to determine what exactly we had going on--said it wasn't termites because they don't leave any mess behind. Turns out it's just ants trying to get in, and he gave me tips for what to do to stop the problem. When I asked if we might still need a termite inspection, he advised me to catch any flying bugs we see and call him, and he will help me ID whether it's a flying ant or a termite. I was very impressed that he didn't agree to come out and charge me when he felt there wasn't a need.
Description of Work: I called to see if Gold Seal would come and check for termites because we had some signs in the basement.

+ -1 moreThey sprayed our house for fleas. They even followed up two weeks later to respray and verify that the job had been done correctly. The spray they used was effective, but it was safe to go back into our home four hours later. It was like they hadn't sprayed anything at all. You felt at ease going back. The spray was not offensive. The agent that came out was very polite, pleasant, and helpful.

+ -1 moreCalled to get a treatment for spiders in basement.Talked to Phil.Phil suggested that because of the dry conditions and mile winter, a lot of pests survived the winter and are more evident now. For the spiders, Phil pointed out that they are tough to eradicate due to the nature of the common chemicals being used. Phil indicated that Spiders do not absorb or ingest the common pesticides like other insects. As such, the way to control the population was to diligently remove webs. Phil said that he could treat my house, however, the most effective thing to do was for me to develop a routine "sweeping" of the webs in my basement and exterior. Because of his helpfulness, I will have Gold Seal come out in the fall and do my "Zone Defence" exterior treatment.

Description of Work: I have never in my life had such an accomodating company work with me, and put my needs as a consumer ahead of theirs as a supplier of a service! This is truly a Miracle On 34th St. experience where Kris tells parents not to shop at Macy's for the good of the children, for all of you old movie buffs. I called almost at a point of hysteria with a bug situation at a new condo I purchased, and after a twenty minute call with a gentleman named Phil I am now relaxed and looking forward to starting a brand new life in my new condo. The conversation started with him asking me questions and listening to my answers, then he asked me an amazing question. He said to me "do you want to treat it yourself or have me do it?", and he was sincere. He walked me through step by step what I could inexpensively do to rid my pest problem. After listening, he realized I had an unusual situation of having a residence that had been uninhabited for a few years and also an uneducated home owners association that is doing almost everything wrong, basically stopping just short of sending out formal invitations to unwanted bugs. After a few inexpensive easy suggestions from Phil of how I rid my condo of bugs, I am confident my problem is no where near the magnitude I had feared before the call. He ended his call to me assuring me if I had any additional probelms that all I had to do was just give him a call and he would be there to help. Just earlier today I had a flooring company suggest to me that I completely rip up and out every single square inch of brand new capret and vinyl to rid my condo of a recurring pest problem, but after talking with Phil I realized I do not have to spend the thousands that would cost. Phil and Gold Seal actually put what is best for me and my situation ahead of making a quick easy dollar. I am confident any other Pest Control company out there would have done the same as the flooring company and urged me to schedule an appt. immediately to have them treat my dire situation and they would have had to regretfully inform me that is was going to be costly but worthwhile. I can't thank Phil and Gold Seal enough for being honest with me and literally saving me thousands. I am sure at some point in the futre I will have an issue where I do need a Pest Control company and without a shadow of a doubt the only one I would ever consider calling is Gold Seal, and then asking for Phil.

The guy that I talked to was really nice. He wanted to make it right so they came out and treated the outside and the inside. So, they did come and make it right.

+ -1 moreThe first summer they came five or six times to take care of a termites in my basement and they eliminated the ones in the basement interior and put down traps. The next year they charged more and traps got more complex, but they came only three or four times. By the end, they only gave me one service for the summer. I called them in late July or August and they said they never got any payments. They did not do anything further, even after I sent them copies of my checks.

+ -1 morePhil handles the customer calls and resulting scheduling. He knows what questions to ask in order to make sure the assigned tech shows up properly prepared. The tech actually arrived just a bit earlier than the assigned time frame. Knowing all the occasions that I've waited two or three hours, only to have someone show up with five minutes left in the window, late, or not at all, I'd consider this a bonus. Both Phil and the tech, Earl, were generous in the depth of their explanations, especially in regard to the safety of our pets. And those pesky carpenter bees? Obviously, they know they are no longer welcome here. Thank you Gold Seal.

They didn't really follow up to check and see how things went. I didn't interact with the guy that came out because I was gone when he came. The price was good. I had to call them a couple times to come out.
