The installers were professional and knowledgeable and worked efficiently. After install, showed me how to operate windows and then cleaned everything up, left nothing behind. I am very happy and satisfied.

The door-to-door salesman's "pitch" amounts to harassment. I said, "NO" to his "offer" FIVE times and he kept on and on until I finally had to yell for him to stop!! He then became insulting and next stood in front of my house hollering at a closed door. You call this professionalism Nu-Sash? Disgusting, pestering, aggravating, provoking, insolent and offensive come to mind. I called Nu-Sash to complain. All you get for any one of a variety of extentions is voice mail. HORRIBLE people.

We spoke to a very kind door to door solicitor who came by on a Saturday morning to ask if we wanted windows installed. We did, and the guy was very polite, so we went ahead with the estimate. The salesman came, and he was sort of an odd guy, but likable enough, and the price was great. I told him that I would follow through with the deal (4 huge windows, 5 normal size for $4,400, labor included) as long as I could have some references to check with before the "72 hour cancellation of contract" was up. He assured me that I would have 3 or 4 in my email the next day, and they never arrived. At the end of day two, I called a manager who told me that he would see to it that I got the references, and have the salesman call me back. The salesman called me back and he, too, assured me that I would have the references in my email that night. When I got home from work on day three (nearing the end of the 72 hour period), the references still had not arrived, so I canceled. After I canceled, I got a call from a financier who told me he needed more information - it was not the same company that I was told would finance the money. Evidently I was declined for my credit, and it was sent to a new company, so I asked him if they also offered the 5.99% interest loan, and the guy laughed. He said, "Who told you that? That's ridiculous." Lie number three. I checked Angie's list and they appeared to be pretty good. However, if they can not keep their word on sending a simple email, can I trust them with ripping out my windows? Were there no good references to send me from the surrounding towns, even though they said there were? I don't know, and I don't make enough money to find out - besides, I've seen too many "Holmes on Homes" episodes to let the first red flag go unanswered. Everything was good - everything, except the salesman's demeanor and the sketchiness of 2 different people not sending promised references for me to speak with. Their loss; I was going to do it too - but I refuse to pay people to lie to me.

very professional. Helpful. Knew their jobs. Cleaned up. Impressed. Finished in two weeks. Impressed w/Jerry the consruction mgr. Impressed w/pre-installation meeting where all craftsmen, including draftsman, met to review the plan and the project. Meeting included 6 or 7 people. Impressed w/plan B when 1st electrician had to reschedule due to an accident, 2nd electrician was on deck and showed up almost immediatly. Rick coordinated the entire project, insured eveything was installed to spec, and was very flexible w/in-progress changes. He responded immediately to any request we made. A great job, would highly recommend.

Mr. Myers said they would install the roofing and do the other work the week of 11/9. They showed up about 9 a.m. on 11/13 and finished everything by 6 p.m. The next morning when I could see the roof in daylight I was dismayed to find that many of the shingles over the garage weren't lying down properly, so I called Mr Myers to complain. He came out very quickly and agreed there was a problem and that he would have his roofer come back the next day to fix it. After that fix, the roof looks fine. The only other glitch was that the company sent me the energy tax credit form for new windows. As of December 1, I am still waiting to get the form for the insulation. Although I said I would use this company again, it's more of a "definite maybe" than an enthusiastic "yes."
Description of Work: Nu Sash tore off the old roofing, installed new venting and re-roofed our 2300 sq. ft. two-story house with new architectural shingles, added 18 inches of insulation to the attic, and installed gutter guards. The quoted price is for the package deal. The original price was quote for roofing and insulation was $13,700. When I blanched (I was expecting about $9,000), Rick Myer lowered the price to $10,300. When I still hesitated, he offered to include the gutter guards. At that point, I accepted the offer. (We got a quote of $2500 for gutter guards several years ago, but decided against them because at $150 per year for gutter cleaning, it would take longer for the guards to pay for themselves than we are likely to live in our home. Therefore, although gutter guards weren't something we really wanted, I knew including them made the package price a very good deal.) Although we had been talking about getting a new roof, I wasn't planning to do it until next year. However, my husband responded to a direct mailing from Nu Sash. There weren't many listings for the company on Angie's List, but the recent ones were good, so we went with this company.

I called to set up an appointment for new windows. The salesman set up the appointment and arrived promptly as scheduled. He told me how his wife had passed away from an illness. Then his brother died in an auto accident. He asked me what I did for a living and told me I needed a man around the house. Sorry brother, but it's not going to be you. Very inappropriate, unprofessional, and I have yet to receive an estimate as I was told. I did receive a postcard in the mail with the salesman's private cell phone and email. I also found on the internet that Nu Sash of Cincinnati had closed up and re-opened as Nu Sash of Indianapolis. I know this is a franchise, but it put alot of doubts in my mind about the business. The whole experience gave me the creeps. The salesman was enough to make me run in the opposite direction. No estimate, no windows, and no man around the house. Enough said.

They were asking $1700 for the building, but lowered it down to $1500 upon delivery. They kept giving me the runaround about when they would deliver the building and it was 9 months later when we finally got the building. During that time, we had already purchased another storage building, purely out of need, because they took so long. They said we would be getting screens for the windows and door on the building, but they would have to bring those back because they didn't have them on hand. When they brought the building, they realized they couldn't get it off of the trailer, so they left it. We called them with a suggestion for someone to help them move it, but they said it was our problem and we would have to take care of that. We had to hire someone separately to move the building off of the trailer and they refused to chip into that cost, even though they never said anything about having to pay extra for that part of the work. We still didn't have the screens, so we asked them about that and they gave us the runaround, then finally said we would have to buy the screens separately and pay them more. Basically, the sun room structure isn't usable without the screens because it gets hot and bugs get in with the windows all open. It was a very bad experience.

The transaction in question was for a mobile sunroom display built on a trailer, being sold AS IS . After the verbal agreement between the complainant and Nu-Sash there was a disagreement was a disagreement about who and when regarding delivery. We finally agreed to deliver the display however there was no place to set it, so we left it on the trailer. The sale was AS IS. There was no agreement verbal or written about screens.

The salesman was not completely honest with us. We were told our new windows would be installed by a crew in two hours & the windows have a lifetime guarantee. What they failed to tell us was that we were being overcharged out the gazoo, the "crew" of one took all day. The "lifetime warranty" has a deductible that has to be met of $50.00 a visit to have any repair done FROM DAY ONE! Our new windows were not aligned right upon install and couldn't be locked. We had a fee to have that corrected!

Jim Kernodle, my salesman made a lot of promises which appear to be all lies. He promised to deliver a projector for the home theatre system, which he never did. He said when he finished the basement it would look like the main floor, but I had to pay the painters to get all dry walls painted. The salesman also said he had a five start rating on Angie's List, which was a total lie. He promised they would create a furnace return in the basement so it would suck cooler air in and make the upstairs much cooler, but the contractor said he never does that in basements. They started the work in July. A week later they started not to show or to only show up for a half an hour. The last day the company came was August 14th. They have not been back to finish the work. The projector is refurbished, not new. It's a cheap projector. They took the projector back and were supposed to get a new one for me and they never did. They also did not deliver speakers for the theatre system, a shower door after they installed our shower, they never gave me the credit on the toilet that I purchased. I changed the layout, and they said it wouldn't be a problem when I signed the contract. Now it is a problem. I just called the manager and he said they were not going to deliver the correct projector at all. They didn't mention the times in the past three weeks I spoke with them. They don't want to deliver a shower door and they still owe me a $100 credit for the toilet I purchased. In fact, problem with Nusash started with day 1. On July 2, they started to deliver drywall. They asked me to open basement window so they could bring the drywall in. They broke the security tab on window and never fixed it. The last work they had done in my basement was on 8/14. Since then I called the manager, Joe McKee, several times, and he either did not answer or, the only time he answered he said will take care of it. More than three weeks had passed and nothing had been done. I mentioned the missing parts (projector, shower door, speakers, broken window security tap) every time I called him, until today, 9/8, he told he could not honor all these. Update 4/5/10: The original Nu-Sash under Jim Kernodle and Joe Mckee was the reason I gave all F ratings. Since them, Rick Myer has taken over the management. He is a completely different person than the other two. He does care about my feedback. He made several trips to my home to take care of the dispute list until I am completely satisfied. Just recently the vent cover fell off and I called him. He dropped by my house and got that taken care of. I like his personality and I definitely recommend Nu-Sash Basement Remodeling under Rick Myer.

Response from Nu-Sash Windows
I will respond to his complaints in the order in which they are listed on the dispute. Projector - nowhere in the contract doesn't say that a projector would be provided. There has been, in fact, a verbal agreement for a projector. However i will com back to that. Comparison to 1st floor - the basement is in fact the same quality as the upstairs. We used the same doors, same trim, etc. Angie's List - The homeowner was told that we have a lot of "A" ratings on Angie's List. He was not told that our overall rating was an "A". Layout- the customer took advantage of the fact that the salesman was out of town at the time of framing. He had the installers there and made changes to the floor plan with anything in writing or verbal from the mgt. or sales re from NuSash. Shower Door - The customer has been made aware from the beginning that there was no shower door included in his contract. Nothing on contract to state the contrary. Toilet - we delivered a toilet to the home for installation. At that time, he told us that he did not like the toilet. He went and purchased his own and told us we owed him $100. It was never agreed to that we would give him $100 for the purchase of a different toilet. Window - He did not report any damage to the window for at least 30 days. We have spoken with the delivery people and they said that there was not a security tab on the window at the time of delivery. We are not sure that we did any damage to any security tab. We did, however, tell him to have it replaced and send us the bill. He has yet to provide us with that bill. Driveway - when the delivery guys were there to deliver the materials, they asked him to move his vehicle out of the driveway for delivery and he is the one that asked us to park in his neighbor's driveway, because it was closer to where we were going to bring the materials in through. As soon as the homeowner came out and asked the delivery truck to move, it was moved. The neighbor has not had a complaint with us. This is just the customers opinion. Gift card - we are not sure what he is speaking of. Neither Mgt. or sales personnel has ever promised him a gift card. we would need to know who said that to him. In regards to compensation and items that he still feels that he is due, this is our position. When our sales rep. returned from vacation, there was a phone conversation with the customer that since he had made changes to the layout of his basement without our permission that there would be additional monies due. In addition to the layout changes, he also got our installer to add extra electric without our permission. In speaking with him we agreed verbally to an additional amount of $2360 for layout changes, extra electric (5 outlets, 3 extra lights), an additional door(due to adding a closed to the layout) , and 4 catV lines. He agreed to this. At this time is when we told him that we would go ahead and get him a projector. Then when it was time to get him to sign a contract and pay for the additional work performed, he told us that "time for making payment and contract changes should have been done before work was performed". He refused to pay. At this point, we had in fact, already taken a projector out to his home to be installed. Our employee had gone to a store and purchased a refurbished projector. It was a better quality projector than the ones we normally carry and had a 90 day warranty vs. the standard 30 day. When he refused the projector and then subsequently refused to pay for the additional work, we did not bring the projector back. Length of time - In the course of the installation, the customer has gone on 2 long vacations. At those times we were not permitted to be in the home. On two other occasions, we showed up for work only to be told that he had made other plans, so we con not stay and work. We feel at this time that there is no compensation for further work owed to him. In addition to all of this, he now wants his basement painted for free. We would not do this. We did however, put him in contact with our contracted painters so that he would get contractor pricing.

Called to get estimate, they came with samples of all materials which helped in the selection process. Was very pleased with quality of products. After about a week of deciding on colors, called to schedule work, about a week later they where ready to start. When they came out they explained what steps they were going to take and gave us some time frames. In all it took about three weeks to complete. (well worth the wait). They made the whole process very easy, from start to finish. The staff was always willing to answer any questions or concerns we had and work with us to resolve them. (from sale to installation) We are very pleased with the end result, and have received several compliments from neighbors and friends.
Description of Work: On our house, they removed old aluminum siding and replaced with new vinyl siding with 3/4" foam board. Removed old shingle roof and replaced with new shingle roof. Removed rotted roof and framing over 6'x15' front porch and rebuilt with new materials. Enclosed existing 6'x15' back porch, added siding, added (5) sliding windows and (1) new steel entry door. Added a total of (9) windows, including (1) 9' picture window, and (2) steel entry doors. Removed old rotted gutters and replaced with new 5" gutters and downspouts. Replaced all rotted exterior trim and wrapped all wood trim with aluminum. On the 10'x13' shed, they added vinyl siding with 3/4" foam board to match house. Removed old shingle roof and replaced with new shingle roof. Installed (2) windows and (1) steel entry door. Wrapped all wood trim with aluminum. Added new 5" gutters and downspouts.

Pricing availability was provided by NuSASH salesman explains the different product lines available. We have initiated our own research prior to accepting NuSASH's estimate. Pricing and the type of vertical siding convinced us to go with NuSASH. Delivery of the siding made within 6 weeks and within days, two installers were at the site taking the old siding off and preparing the installation phase. Old sidings were removed and hauled away daily so the worksite is kept clean and organized. The installers arrived dressed appropriately since weather was wet and cold and neat in appearance. The crew of two professional men arrived early in the morning working full days weather permitting. Weather during the installation was cold and wet, but the men worked long hour to get work completed. We were highly impressed with the crew's work ethics in keeping the area clean and organize on a daily basis. The staffs at NuSASH from the salesman, office staff, estimator and inspector, delivery crew and installers, technicians, have been very courteous and have gone out of their ways to help us whenever we have questions or need further assistance). NuSASH have been very good in providing follow-up visits, maintaining good repeat customer relationship. I highly recommend NuSASH for anyone requesting services for all siding and gutter installation.

Leaf gutters installed in addition to the existing gutters that were installed with the vinyl sidings. Additional storm gutter installed across the front of carport. All work installation performed within two moths from June 2007 through July 2007. Mr. McKee personally inspected the site and initiated the estimate for all requests. He measured and later had Birt and the other crew involved from the door installers, leaf gutter installer and rain gutter installer, to assign the work leading to the final installation. Pricing was within my budget keeping a return customer satisfied and happy. Installations were initiated within two months period and were all completed within one day. Installers were very courteous, very professional in their actions, arrived early and worked the entire day until work was completed. I highly recommend NuSASH for anyone requesting services for all siding and gutter installation, entry door and storm doors, leaf gutter installation, new and replacement window installation. NuSASH have been very good in providing follow-up visits maintaining good repeat customer relationship.
