Louis Mitchell is an excellent craftsman. He did excellent and high quality work. It was obvious he took great pride in his work. From this standpoint we could not have been more pleased. His demeanor was also very professional. Our problem with Louis was punctuality. He always came on the days he said he would be at our home, but often one to three hours late. He did call when he was going to be late, but this experience was frustrating. The job went on for nearly a month. I have not written this review sooner, because of the difficulty we had in getting a shower door and having it installed.( no fault of Louis') I would use Louis again, but only if there was a penalty clause in our contract relative to timeliness of the project. He is a good person, and, as I said, he does high quality work. Field Retterer

I would highly recommend Louis and would use him again in any tile project I would consider. His attention to detail was amazing and it was clear he took pride in his work. He was also very reasonably priced. Along with being great at his job, Louis was a pleasure to have around the house while he completed the project. Just a very considerate and nice guy. Only negative was he was so focused on doing a good job the project ran a bit long. Great experience overall! Thanks Louis!

I called Louis Mitchell after reading all the wonderful reviews on Angies List. I can see now why he has such praise. Louis is a true craftman! He pays attention to detail and does not cut corners! If you want a professional job done, then Louis Mitchell is the man for you. His helper Lee is just as professional. They both have an easy going way about them and handles any special requests. I was just going to have my tub surround done, but after seeing the work they did, I had them complete the job and rip out my old floor and install new tile there too. I am very pleased and would use Louis Mitchell for any future tile jobs!

Louis was fantastic... Extremely professional. We originally called because we had a leak in the ceiling below our master bath shower area. He came out inspected everything, and determined that the leak was in our plumbing (not the tile or shower floor). He recommended a plumber to handle the leak. He did not charge us anything for this and he spent some time verifying exactly what the problem was. He did give us a quote to repair the tiles / grout / caulk once the plumbing issue was resolved. After getting the leak fixed, we called Louis back and he did a very thorough job fixing up all the tile work. Even though we were a very small job, he spent all the time needed to do a great repair (and even came back a second day to ensure that things were drying adequately along the way). Fantastic all around and would strongly recommend.

He was the nicest man I have ever met. He took his time. He spends as much time as necessary to get it perfect. He is a perfectionist. He takes his time and he wants the work done right. He is a pro. His price was extraordinary for all the work he put into it. He was a quality person. I would have him back in a heartbeat. He goes above and beyond the call of duty. They moved a piece of furniture downstairs and brought a new mattress and box springs upstairs and didn't want payment for it. In my garage I have a spotlight that is very high up. I offered to pay him to climb the ladder to replace the bulb. He did it, but again, didn't want any payment for it. He was a soft spoken, gentle, nice man. I would highly recommend him.

Mr. Mitchell arrived on time, fully assessed the defectively laid floor in the shower-- not just tile damage I pointed out-- explained what needed to be done, diligently did all the work with one assistant, and came in right at his estimated cost. The quality of the work was great, and the price very reasonable for the time and materials. I highly recommend this specialist for his conscientious and careful work.

I don't have enough nice things to say about Mr. Mitchell - what a wonderful man! He takes his time on your project and makes sure the job is done to perfection. He spent far more time at our home than originally estimated and did not change his estimate for the job as a result. He ensured that all leaks were plugged prior to accepting payment, cleaned up our bathroom beautifully and honored our Angie's List discount. He has called us two separate times after the job was completed to ensure that the shower has no issues. He will be the first person on my list to call the next time tile services are required.

Mr Mitchell arrived at the agreed upon time and worked for several hours removing the grout and cleaning all the mold out. He then reapplied the grout and then came back the next day to seal everthing. We could not use the shower for 48hrs to let the sealer dry comletely. Mr Mitchell did a great job, very professional,timely and polite. I would absolutely use his service for any tile work I would have in the future.

They identified the problem with the original install. (The leaky shower created a mold problem in the basement.) Louis meticulously demolished what was required and then rebuilt the shower floor to professional specs. It looks better than before and you can't even tell that work was done on it. He has a patient and kind demeanor and takes pride in his work.

Mr. Mitchell is such a kind gentleman and very professional. He assessed why my shower was leaking, causing water damage on adjacent wall. He pointed out grout lines issues and a few other things. I happened to have the grout used and he regrouted, recaulked, and came back again to seal the tile and install new silicone piece I needed replaced as well on the shower door (which was not even part of original project or estimate. He did beautiful work - shower looks brand new again and most importantly, is not leaking anywhere! I even have him give me estimates on doing some tile work around 3 other showers - which was far more reasonable than I thought. I look forward to scheduling him to do that soon.

Louis is thorough & meticulous in his work. Due to drying/curing times & conflicts in schedules, the job took a bit longer than I thought but was worth the wait. He is very courteous & a gentleman.

Louis Mitchell is hands-down the most meticulous, detail-oriented professional I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. We had him put in a backsplash with small glass tile that required very detailed cuts and a significant amount of work. Even in corners and under windowsills where someone would have to work to see, he didn't count on grout to cover, he cut tiles to fit exactly. We weren't sure how to finish the tiles at the edge and he gave us the benefit of his experience with what would look the best and the entire job came out much better than we had ever hoped for. Louis gets an A+ for his work and he is so incredibly pleasant and trustworthy do deal with. We wouldn't hesitate to use him again. I really can't recommend him highly enough.

Lou was a blessing when we needed it and rescued us from a DIY project gone horrendously wrong. We had reached the point where the fiberglass surround in our bathtub had leaked, caused some minor water damage and needed to be replaced. My fiancee and I decided that it would be nice to upgrade and put in tile instead of another fiberglass surround. We created our own design, bought the tiles & requisite supplies and thought we were off to the races. Upon getting the surround taken down, we discovered the previous owners of the home had cut corners and taken some short cuts on the previous surround installation. As a result, I had to tear down incorrectly installed drywall, needed to install a new vapor barrier and new cement board before we could even begin the tiling. The house is 55 years old and taking down the incorrectly installed drywall was like opening up a box of chocolates: We had no idea what we were going to get. Long story short, I spent 3 days attempting to shim the studs and hang cement board. After 3 days, I had a complete disaster in the bathroom. I reached Lou by phone on Friday morning, Aug 23rd about 9am. By 12:30pm Lou was at my home to give me an estimate. With a 55 year old home, I had turned the only shower in the house into an unusable mess. Lou had jobs already scheduled for the next 3 weeks. However, Lou agreed to work us into his schedule in between his already scheduled jobs. Something that he didn't have to do. Lou came out the next day, SATURDAY, and he and his assistant starting fixing what I had messed up. Starting on Monday, Aug 26, Lou came to our home in the evening and worked on getting our new tile up. We found out after Lou started, that we had picked out one of the most difficult tiles to work with and soon realized that I never would have been able to complete the job as a DIY-er. Lou's work is impeccable. His attention to detail is phenomenal. Lou took care of our shower as if it was his own and us like family. Lou's courtesy and professionalism are of a nature that you don't find in this day and age. He, and his assistant Lee, took great care to minimize any mess, cleaned up everynight before they left each evening and installed a new shower/tub surround that we show pictures of to everyone we know. Lou knew we were in trouble when he came to the house. Many contractors would have taken that opportunity to gouge us on their price and take advantage of the situation. Lou gave us a fair quote, worked us into his schedule when he didn't have to and went further above and beyond than we ever could have asked for. Lou even took the time to call us back about a week after he finished the work to make sure things were as we expected them to be. We were thrilled with the final result. We would recommend Lou to anyone, friends & family included. Men of Lou's character are a rare breed today. If you have him perform any work for you, you will have an honest man doing your work who takes pride in his work, works hard and treats you more than fairly. We are having Lou back out to give us a quote on a new stone tile backsplash. Hopefully we can pictures posted of his work.

Louis is a good tile worker, he meticulously laid the mosaic backsplash (didn't hesitate if he had to do it one small piece at a time), always willing to help, we are satisfied with the outcome although we wished that he had some real help so he can get things done more quickly. His quote covered ONLY labor which for some reason we missed (although I am pretty good at these things) so we ended up spending more on materials (like mortar, grout, adhesive, grout sealer, cement board, screws, threshold etc). In the final analysis, total installation cost worked out to be a lot higher than the two other quotes that I had turned down in favor of Louis. When comparing multiple quotes/bids, it would be nice to know what is actually covered by each. I don't think it is entirely Louis' fault and besides we enjoyed getting to know this gentleman!

Louis was very customer oriented and easy to work with. The work was exceptional. He matched the grouting very well, it blends with the tiles perfectly. I would recommend him to our friends and family.

They figured out why the tile was cracking around the edges of the sunroom floor. It was due to improper installation of walls over the foundation. This left the cement floor uneven at the edges. The builder put the tile on a slant which cracked over time. They worked extremely hard with grinding back the foundation and making it even. Then put in our new tile. The owner was very kind and easy to speak to. He also called us back to make sure we were satisfied with his work.

It went great. Not only did he replace the tile, he also acid-cleaned the tile, regrouted where necessary, and helped restore the shower to pristine condition. It was excellent work, and reasonable.

Mr. Mitchell provided a very competitive quote (labor only) to install tile backsplash in our newly remodeled kitchen. Clearly, his professionalism was very evident by the manner in which he provided his quote and performed his work. I would highly recommend this company for any tile work in your home or office.

We have had some other home improvement work done before but nothing on this scale. It began with a broken trim kit, water in the walls, and finally, a drain that gave out underneath the tub. It would have been expensive to fix given the tile was outdated [builder grade 4x4 tiles in biscuit or almond!!] and we needed to either replace or reglaze the tub. So we opted to tear everything out and build a custom shower in the master shower. We couldn't be happier with our decision or with our decision to have Lewis Mitchell do the work. We had several bids, everyone of them an Angie's A-rated contractor and/or part of the Angie's Big Deal offer. A few took forever to return out calls. Another made it clear that our job, while important to us, would be an afterthought to him. Other seemed impossibly slick, and thus worrisome. Yes, we wanted it done quickly, but we also wanted the job done correctly and with care. We met with Lewis Mitchell after reading various reviews. We went to a number of places looking for materials--tile, granite, shower doors--and each location the staff spoke highly of Mr Mitchell, his work, and his person. We couldn't agree more. His work was simply excellent. I had a vision of what I wanted in my head, and he made it happen. The area was uneven and full of irregular lines and angles. He made it all work and flow together. The shower is absolutely gorgeous! We would absolutely use him again, and have recommended him to several friends. We were so happy, that we already hired him again! We had him scratch out the old grout in our kid's bathroom and regrout, seal, and replace the hardware in the space. He did a great job, and the bathroom looks fantastic. We had thought about having all the tile replaced, a considerable expense and hassle, but after his inspection and some questions about how long we planned to be in the house, etc. he helped us to see that the return on the investment wouldn't be there, and that the space would be in good shape with only a minor investment. Who does that? contractors often work the upwell! Not in this case, though!! Like others have noted, he was not the fastest contractor. But he was thoughtful and meticulous in everything he did, and absolutely trustworthy.

Mr. Mitchell was great! I had a leak either from the shower tile or shower enclosure. I was given his name as a first point of contact by the vendor for a new shower door enclosure before they did anything, as they thought it was totally tile related. Mr. Mitchell came out, investigated and determined it was not a tile issue but my old shower enclosure. He offered to recaulk the shower right then, and I took him up on it. He did a great job and stopped the water from continuing to leak into my wall until I could get a new shower enclosure. Mr. Mitchell was extremely professional and respectful. His price was very fair and he did a great job. I will definitely recommend him and will use him again if I need to.

I discovered Louis Mitchell on AL while I was searching for someone to repair cracked tile in our shower. When he came to our house to provide an estimate, he found that the walls behind the tile were drywall and not cement board and that they were wet and crumbling in places. He provided an estimate for a partial replacement. I, however, decided in the long run, it would be better to replace the whole shower at one time. Louis is a meticulously thorough craftsman. His work is high quality and professional. He is very hard-working, somedays staying into the evening. This was my first "remodel" project so I had a steep learning curve with which he was patient and knowledgeable. From deconstruction to finished product, the project probably took 5 weeks. We had a plumbing issue that needed to be resolved halfway through which took away a week of Louis' time. Plus the tile took two weeks to arrive after ordering. I will hire Louis again when we repeat the project in another bathroom and for tiling the floor in a bathroom.

Job was done to perfection. It took a little longer to finish than he quoted but the work was excellent.
