Mister Quik Home Services

Since I am interested in replacing my current HVAC system with a TRANE system, I met with a Mr Quik representative. He signed me up for a free electrical inspection (a promotion they had going at the Home Show). The gentleman who came to perform the electrical inspection did a great job explaining a few problem areas. I now regret not having Mr. Quik perform the electrical work when I finished my basement. When I scheduled my HVAC PM with Mr. Quick in April 2012, I decided to sign up for their maintenance agreement which is $9 per month since I agreed to auto pay on a credit card. This agreement is GREAT! It includes an annual cooling maintenance visit, annual heating maintenance visit, an electrical safety visit, and a plumbing inspection. Not to mention that is also offers pricing discounts if any repairs do need to be made. So far I have had a couple of electrical inspections, a couple of HVAC tune-ups, and a plumbing inspection and they have all gone very well. On my last HVAC tune-up, the technician showed me how some of the capacitors are out of tolerance. So I appreciated the fact that he took the time to show potential problem areas in detail. For all of Mr. Quik's visits, the technicians have all been very helpful in explaining the work they are performing and are extremely courteous and insightful when answering my questions. So far, I haven't needed to use Mr. Quik for any large repair or replacement service but it's been nice building a strong relationship through theses periodic maintenance visits. I wouldn't hesitate to have them perform any major service I would need to have done in regards to Heating/Cooling, Plumbing, and/or Electrical.

They were very professional and listened well. They gave great advice that made sense (as opposed to the last guy who came out---he was awful [from a different company]).

Everything went well. They arrived on time and did an excellent job installing and explaining the new feautures on my new unit. I will use them again and recommend their services to anyone.

The technician showed us in detail the condition of our 35-year-old gas furnace and we agreed it was no longer safe. In conversation with him, we also mentioned that we were going that day to purchase a whole-house generator. He told us Mister Quik sells and installs the same unit we were planning to purchase. He was able to get a representative to our house within 2 hours the same day and we found that the purchase + install price was better than we were able to get elsewhere. Financing options were also considerably better. After deciding on the new furnace, we opted to replace our old, nearly worn out air conditioner, and get the generator from them as well. All of the work was completed within a week and the installers were prompt, courteous, and very helpful in showing us all operations. There was absolutely no pressure to buy at any time. They simply gave us the information we asked for and waited for us to determine what we most needed. We appreciated the no-pressure approach.

After calling a number of plumbers on Friday morning (the day after Thanksgiving) to see if we could get someone out for a main line sewer clearing, Mr. Quik was one of two who could make it out. We chose them because their price was right. I was skeptical about using them because I have reservations about larger companies (who have commercials on local TV), but we needed to get the work done and couldn't wait until next week (which many plumbers were quoting us). Their plumbing services were rated as "A" on Angie's List. We were given a window between 2 and 4, but their dispatcher called about 3:45 saying they were just a bit behind and it would be closer to 5. Dale and his colleague arrived before five and immediately went to work snaking the main sewer line. The identified the clog at the bottom of the property just before the city sewer line and cleared the roots solving our problem. Dale and his colleague were professional and quick. Their customer service was good even though they were working the day after Thanksgiving and had already had a long day. The price was great compared to what we were told by others. One company wanted over $200 to snake the main line. Mr. Quik cam in at just under $100. Final with tax was just over $108 and we'll get a camera examination of our main sewer line. I would consider using them for issues like this in the future.

Service technician was to arrive between 1 and 5, which he did; but that's a long time to wait. I believe he got there around 3. Dave (I think) was nice and professional. I assume he did a good job--one never knows about this sort of thing. He wanted to bill me, but I told him that the Big Deal had already taken care of that;he confirmed that with the office. As is usual with HVAC folk, he promoted a maintenance/checkup/on call package,which i didn't buy, but might in the future.

We hired Mister Quik on the recommendation of a friend when we had a sewer backup late on Friday night 06/22/12. They are very responsive, punctual and, on the surface, friendly. They are also skillful high-pressure salesmen. The drain was cleared quickly and efficiently. The charge for clearing the drain came to a total of $417. The following day (Saturday) a worker came to run the camera through the line and discovered a severe root intrusion into the line. He recommended sewer replacement as the only viable option and told us we needed to decide immediately if we wanted to take advantage of the discount. He drew up a proposal which included $8455 for the sewer and $330 to grade and re-seed lawn in the spring. On Monday morning 06/25/12 the crew showed up without warning and started digging. Before midday it was apparent that Mister Quik was not capable of completing the job and fulfilling their contractual obligation. Without notifying us, Mister Quik subcontracted the project out to another company unknown to us at a substantially lower fee than what they charged us. At the end of the day, the representative from Mister Quik approached me and said that they had had to "dig deeper than they expected" and that it would cost an additional $1500, bringing the final total to $9955. Mister Quik did not at this point acknowledge that they had contracted the work out to another business. I made several calls to Mike, the project manager at Mister Quik, requesting itemized billing. They were unable to provide this, but assured me that all charges were valid, necessary, and within reasonable market pricing. I later called back several more times and spoke with the owner of Mister Quik, Brad Huff. He stated that we should have only paid the amount originally quoted and signed for, yet he refused to reimburse us the additional $1500. He offered a smaller settlement with the condition that it would void the warranty on the work and any future responsibility on their part. We did not feel that this was acceptable. After we complained to the Better Business Bureau, they did finally agree to release us from our service agreement. At this point I am very concerned about the state of our yard. We are left with a yard with an unsightly 3-4 foot high wall of dirt, rocks, and bricks running down the middle, and we expect that Mister Quik will remediate this as agreed, unless they decide to contract it out to someone else. They have told us nothing can be done about it until Spring. We expect our lawn to be returned to the state it was in prior to the project, with viable topsoil and not full of rocks.

I phoned the service in the morning and got to talk to an individual who scheduled the service for the same afternoon. I was called approximately 30 minutes before the technician arrived. He (Ron) checked out all of the items for repair and gave me an estimate on costs. He also included information on a plan that I could buy in tot which gave me a very good discount and would provide "check ups" on plumbing, electricity and heating/air condition.He completed all plumbing services in one visit. This is the 1st time that when I needed an appliance replaced that it was done in only one visit. Other reviews say this plumbing service was very expensive.... For me I got excellent value and service for the cost.

Went great. Lead electrician had a ton of experience with old homes and made great suggestions. Rewiring caused an issue with our HVAC which they promptly fixed on their dime. Had 3 electricians here for most of a day.

They are very good. They explain what they are going to do. They are polite. They are very professional.

We called Mr. Quik late Friday afternoon and they were able to schedule us for a mid-day Saturday appointment, which was great. The office called twice on Saturday morning to give us an update on the arrival time of the service professional...very nice so I didn't have to sit around waiting and wondering when they would show up. The plumber who arrived, Donovan, was very professional. He explained our options for fixing the problem and then went straight to work once we chose our preferred option. He was careful not to make a big mess and cleaned up properly after the job. He also gave us some good tips for keeping our drain clean in the future to prevent the problem from recurring, which I will definitely use. All in all I was happy with the service provided. We had a coupon which made the price very reasonable. However the price without the coupon seemed a bit high in comparison to other drain cleaning jobs we've had before, but the coupon made it a good deal.

We know that our AC unit is 22 years old and is on borrowed time. But all he wanted to do was to sell us a new unit. He said they would have to send out one of their 'designers' to give us a price. (even the term 'designer' rather than salesman irritated me). We felt that his goal (new unit) and our goals (fix the old one) were totally out of sync. We have now called in another company to look at the unit.

There was a running water sound coming from the AC/Furnace area. I thought since it was so hot out that the condensation part of the AC was leaking. I had a technician come out to take a look at it. He came out the same day. He took a good look at the unit (which is 17 yrs old, an original of the house) and told me that I would need to replace the AC and furnace. I trusted his diagnosis due to the fact that I knew I would need to replace it soon. I set up an appointment for a salesman to come out to give me pricing for a new HVAC. The next day, my AC unit happened to not be running. I could still hear the running water sound. The water heater happened to be right next to the AC unit. I put my ear up next to the water heater, and the sound was actually coming from the water heater, not the AC unit. I also noticed quit a bit of water damage on the wall. The master closet is on the other side of that wall, and the floor was very, very wet. There was quite a bad mildew smell. So, I actually called Mister Quik back and they sent out a plumber that day. The plumber quickly came to the conclusion there was a water leak inside the wall. He gave me some quotes to fix it. I told him to go ahead after seeing the numbers. He immediately cut a hole in the wall and found the leak. He shut the water off and replaced that part of the pipe. Within minutes, he was finished. My concern here is that I could have limited the damage considerably had the AC technician ruled out the AC leak. Instead, we allowed the leak to go on for another week. Now, I have to replace the carpet and drywall. However, all in all, I am pleased with the professionalism of everyone I worked with. Yes, this is all an inconvenience, but I will deal with it. Even though there was a mis-diagnosis, I still recommend using Mister Quik.

The overall experience (other than price) was excellent.

Our experience was wonderful. It's not hard to write a glowing report under the circumstances and conditions. On the hottest day of the year when temperatures reached 106, our AC stopped working and the temperature inside our home reached 98 degrees. We'd called 3 other companies who could not dispatch for days. We remembered we'd used Mister Quik for electrical matters so gave them a call around 8pm. The job was completed and Jeff left the home by 9:40pm. He sprayed the unit to cool it down, he replaced the capacitor, and then he showed us how to clean the coils in the indoor unit for preventive maintenance. Jeff was professional despite having been on the clock since 6:15am (I overheard him explaining this to the dispatcher. He apologized for having to take the call). I also appreciated the way he professionally handled a neighbor who saw his van and sought his assistant. He was courteous and I believe he was going to help out our neighbor despite his long work hours. He got the job done, maintained a smile, and was informative. Overall we are very pleased with the service. I've already posted our experience on facebook!

I called Mr Quik at 4pm. I was told they could get my in on the 6-10 slot, but said it would be roughly 9, but not to pinpoint her on that. I called back at 6 to confirm and got a VERY nice lady that said that we were still on and that they had 30 people in front of us.I got a call at 9:15 saying they were on their way.Gary arrived at 10pm...tired and obviously hot. I explained the problem and that it had froze up and we turned it off the previous hour. He explained that he couldn't do anything if it was frozen. He turned on the heat for a few minutes and it thawed out rather quickly ( 104 outside though!!!) It was the capacitor. He fixed it super quick and was on his way in less than 45 minutes total. I was very happy with his service. I felt bad for the guy. He was dripping and exhausted and still managed to be polite. I would definitely use them again.My only tiny complaint is that I wish the phone people would have asked if the AC was froze up and educated me that if it is frozen, it can't really be worked on until it is thawed. Luckily I saw that it was frozen about 45 minutes before the arrived and turned it off myself, but had I not he would have had to come back the next day. It was 89 in my house... and I was thrilled to have it back on again!

I paid for a membership with them and had them out to look at an electrical issue. They replaced one switch and they charged me $219. I asked the technician to show me what he took out and he refused to show me. He told me it would have caused a fire, but would not show it to me. I called them after this to complain about the price and was told that I didn't know what I was talking about. The manager I spoke with was rude to me and told me that if I wasn't a member, the one switch would have cost me over $400. I then canceled my membership with them. They continue to take money from my account, but I do not want to argue with them. I wasn't happy with a service and they didn't even try to make it right.

The charge for this repair was two and half times what two other electrical companies would have charged. I got two other quotes after the fact. We should have waited until we had three quotes before getting the repair done. They used scare tactics to convince us to do the repair right away. They made us feel that our house would burn down without this repair. They took advantage of us because we are older. They charged a big commission on top of the repair. IF YOU EVER DEAL WITH THESE FOLKS, RUN AWAY! THEY HAVE NO ETHICS WHATSOEVER. This company should not be rated highly in Angie's List. They have no scruples or ethics at all.

In May of 2011 our home was struck by lightning causing issues with electrical system in our home. The upstairs bedrooms and bathroom had power however none of the 1st floor had any electricity. Mister Quik was called and scheduled to come out the next morning (I called on a Sunday evening). The technician replaced the electrical panel and all breakers and replaced a blown switch in the downstairs bathroom. The technician also worked with my insurance company in writing exactly what was being done and why on the invoice.

AC/heat pump was not working. Mister Quik was the only company that could come out that day. Service tech was excellent. I give him an A for the repair. Sales manager came out to give me prices on a new heat pump system. I told him price was too much could he offer a discount $8,700. I was told no. Next day he lowered the price $1,000 when I informed him that I would call other companies for estimates. Felt pressured so I told him I needed more time to think about it. I was quoted exact same system from another company for over $2,000 less! Mister Quik has great service but watch out when it comes to price.

Everything that I have had them do has been great. I have had them out numerous times in the last 5-6 years. They have installed electrical outlets. They have done some plumbing. They installed an external generator. They do just about anything. I have never used anyone else. You can call them and they will be there within a day. They will come out for emergencies. They only exception was the generator. They had to order it. They had received in within three days and were out here to install it on the fourth day.

A technician from Mr. Quik came and he said he thought the problem was a leak in our system. He didn't measure anything or really look at anything on our system, but was mostly interested in getting us a salesperson to sell us a new system. He made it sound like it was impossible and illegal to add more freon to our system, and our only option was to get a new system. I found out later this turned out to not be true. His detailed description of the problem on our receipt was two words: "No heat." Basically I don't think I got my money's worth for this service call. It was more of a sales call that I don't think I should have had to pay for. I called to complain after it was done but never got a response from Mr. Quik. In my opinion there are much better options for HVAC service.

I was in the garage when the gentleman was finishing up. He recommended running a fresh air line to attic from the furnace because the water softener was too close to the furnace. He also told me that the humidifier water supply line was connected in the wrong place, the softened water would eat up the filters. He told me the fresh air line should at least go into the attic at least or into the roof. I was skeptical of the quote of $284 for the air line and $204 to fix the water line to the humidifier. If I had not been present he possibly could have taken advantage of us. I talked with another contractor to come and look at a leak in the ceiling and I asked him about the two recommended repairs. He told me it wasn?t true about the line from the humidifier or the air line. He referred another heating and cooling technician who uses the same kind of furnace as we have. This tech confirmed that this work was not needed.

They were very efficient and were on time. They were also nice and polite. This is the second time I have used them and my expiernce has been very satisfactory both times.
