Description of Work: echnician said he needed to rejuenate my furnace. He said I neede an igniter and a capactater. He left to go to Home Depot to get the parts. He returned about one hour later.

Description of Work: In the summer we had Scott with Mr. Quik install 2 surge protectors. On 1/22/12 I noticed that one of the surge protectors was not functioning. I called and was given an immediate time for him to come to our home. When here he discovered that our heat pump was overloading the surge protector. He told me to call a heating and cooling company to look at the heat pump which I did. I was not charged. If the surge protector had been defective, he was prepared to install a new one a no charge. I am very happy with the Service. I have had Scott her 3-4 times and I am always very happy with the service he provides. Mr. Quik is also very good at promptly scheduling and being punctual. I will always call them first and ask for Scott.

Description of Work: My air conditioner went out on Sunday with the projected highs in the 90's for the next 10 days. I called Mister Quick because I had a service contract with their company. The technician came out and in 5 minutes told me I needed both a new A/C unit as well as new furnace because they were tied into each other.. The reason was my compressor was bad but he did not explain anymore. He never even looked at our furnace. He quoted a fee of $9,500 and said they could fix it on that Sunday immediately. Not one to hand out money without a second opinion, I called a friend in another city who is a Air Conditioner repairman and asked him what his thoughts were. He said I should have shown how and why the compressor was bad, which I was not. He thought the quote was way too high and that the A/C unit should have been able to be replaced, without a new furnace. I checked for another Trane dealer in town through Angie's List. I found Appel out of Carmel. I had them inspect the unit without telling them about Mister Quik to get a second opinion. He asked me all of the questions my friend should have been asked and found out the only thing wrong was the blower motor on the A/C box outside needed to be replaced. The total costs was $450 versus the $9,500 quoted by Mister Quik. He also verified that the A/C unit could be replaced independent of the furnace if needed. He stated my furnace was a high efficiency unit and had at least 15 more years of usefulness in it. Needless to say, I have found an A/C company I feel I can trust in Appel and one in Mister Quik who I would not recommend.

Description of Work: Had Mister Quik come to our neighborhood to meet us and quote replacing 2 in ground wires leading from the bldg to lamp posts. A team of two men arrived. They were polite and punctual. We did not have them perform any work because their pricing was many(multiple) times higher than other quotes from other highly rated Angie's providers. Ex: As a side job they quoted ~$164.00 to replace a photocell in a lamp post. To do that job requires lass than 30 minutes work plus ~ $20-30 part from an electrical trades supply house.

Description of Work: We hired Mister Quik in January 2011 to relocate an air conditioning line in an exterior wall so that we could install French doors. From that time until Saturday, June 4th, the upstairs air conditioning, the unit controlled and supplied by that line, did not work. Mister Quik sent a technician to our home on May 16. He determined there was no power to the low voltage line and recommended we install a wireless relay. Another technician confirmed the need for the wireless relay the next day. At least one of the technicians who installed the wireless relay was in the crawlspace at some point, as my mother heard him swearing underneath the house.The upstairs air conditioning still did not work. The technicians who had installed the wireless relay stated that the unit would not hold refrigerant, and that our workmen had probably cut the copper refrigerant lines when they were remodeling our kitchen. The technician and his partner recommended a refrigerant leak check which would cost $1,016, new refrigerant lines installed on the exterior of the house, and the purchase of a new outdoor unit...despite the fact that the current unit is less than two years old. Mister Quik probably would not expect a customer to enter a crawlspace to look at the work we had paid for, but that is what I did. I discovered at that time that Mister Quik technicians had not connected the old and new refrigerant or low voltage lines when they relocated the lines in January. The reason there was no low voltage power, and the reason the unit could not hold refrigerant, is that neither the refrigerant lines, nor the low voltage line, were actually attached to anything. The new lines simply stopped about two feet from the foundation, and still had their bright orange caps on, while the old lines that had gushed refrigerant into the crawlspace curled up toward the floor approximately three feet away and also simply stopped. Not only the technicians who were originally supposed to move the lines, but all other Mister Quik technicians who had been under the house knew or should have known that the lines had never been connected by Mister Quik, yet they continually attempted to convince us to spend thousands of dollars on (1) an unneeded wireless relay; (2) a $1,016 leak check; (3) entirely new refrigerant and low voltage lines; and (4) a new outside unit despite the fact that our current unit is less than two years old. It took Mister Quik two days and three technicians to connect the lines after I discovered that they had not been connected. Finally, five months after we contracted with Mister Quik to move the air conditioning lines, the lines were actually connected and we had upstairs air conditioning again. Mister Quik technicians attempted to fraudulently convince us to purchase thousands of dollars of entirely unnecessary replacements and repairs, despite the fact that they individually and collectively knew that the replacements and repairs were unnecessary. Of course, Mister Quik technicians knew the replacements and repairs were unnecessary because Mister Quik technicians NEVER ATTACHED THE NEW LINES IN THE WALL TO THE OLD LINES UNDER THE HOUSE.

Description of Work: Mister Quik was able to get to my home within 2 hours of my call. This was especially important to me because I had scheduled with another company first thing in the morning, specifically stating that I required more than an hour notice of arrival time because I am a counselor, with an office in my home. So when I am in a session for 45-50 minutes, I cannot answer my phone. While being assured I would receive appropriate notice for the repair scheduled that afternoon sometime, this original company called me at 2:08, right after I went into a session. The electrician arrived approximately 2:30, and left before 2:45 -- exactly the time I was in a single session!! When I returned the call (at 2:50) requesting that they simply have the electrician return (since he obviously had time in his schedule for my appointment, and had only been gone from my property for a matter of minutes), they seemed to have difficulty confirming they would be able to do so, so offered to re-schedule my appointment for the following Monday (4 days later)! I had guests arriving that evening, who would need to use the guest room and bathroom, which were without electricity for some reason, so re-scheduling four days later would not help me. I had trusted the company I originally called to do what they said they would; I had been as clear and specific as I could be regarding my phone availability. Now it was late afternoon, so I had very little reason to assume I would be able to find a different company which would be able to provide the necessary repairs yet that evening. So when I called Mr. Quik, and they confirmed someone could be here within an hour and a half, I was very relieved! The technician arrived by 5:30, and fixed my problem by 7:00!! I was very pleased with this service.

Description of Work: Replaced 5 exterior lights and photo cell. Quick scheduling and very professional. Price was within line with the estimates from other companies. I will hire them again.

Description of Work: Two electricians from the company came. My husband, an engineer, knew what has to be done but did not want to do it himself because work needed a ladder. So he showed them that the work was to correct two wires shortened by squirrels. It took them much less than an hour. Of course the estimate for the work was presented first to my husband before they did the work. Since they were going to charge us $60 if we did not let them do the work, my husband gave them a go ahead. Their pricing is based on a numbered schedule from 1-10 and the work was priced as #4 which included a direct-burial splice kit in the work description among other things, which was not required with the work they did since it was on the 2nd floor level of our house outside. My husband and I think we were overcharged and may not use them again because of the price. Because we are an Angie's list member, they did not charge us an additional $60 for the service call.

Description of Work: Electrician from Quik Electric, Dean Hendricks, arrived at my home on time, gave me an estimate and performed the work very well. I could tell that he knew what he was doing by the way he did the work. He installed some breakers, that he pointed out that I should probably replace, and a surge protector, that also protects for lightning. I also had him replace a thermostat and install two switches. Dean was prompt, efficient and cleaned up his mess. I will use this company again if I need any electrical work performed.
