 + -1 moreThe company sent a representative out to do an estimate for basement lighting, but when he was leaving, I was asked to pay $59. I said I was never informed of the charge, and I'm an Angie's List member, so he decided not to charge. A few days later, the receptionist called to schedule the estimate - even though the guy already came. I never heard from him again. No estimate, no response. I decided to go with Ashpaugh, who is very professional and a great value.

Description of Work: Dean installed a whole-house surge protector on the circuit breaker. He also replaced the lighting hardware in one of our ceiling lights and added a dimmer switch.

 + -1 moreVery pleased--even though there is still a problem of some kind from the meter to the breaker box, the repair that Jim made fixed all the problems I was having--furnace is now working, and 2 outlets in the kitchen that had stopped working are now OK.
Description of Work: Had a non-working furnace that the furnace repairman determined was an electrical problem. (This problem was identified in the middle of the night on Saturday night.) Due to electricians charging $300 just to come to your door on the weekend, I scheduled for first thing Monday morning. Jim came and was able to fix my problem easily, by relocating the furnace wiring to the other side of the breaker box. He did say that the main problem was that I was only receiving half power from the utility company, but the utility company did check and the power is OK to the meter, which is all they are responsible for. Jim had told me that the fixtures and meter housing on the outside of the house that connect from the outside power supply needed to be updated, and I have to assume that the problem is there. I was given an estimate for that repair, but have not had that done yet.

 + -1 moreI told him I had the coupon, and he said "From Angies List" in a kind of negative tone. The total cost was $159.00 but the coupon took it down to $100.00. I gave them a C in price because they are not upfront about the cost on the phone and they could be since they have a pricing sheet. I didnt have any problem with just trying to get them to be up front about the pricing. I would use them again if it was an emergency, but it would be iffy.
Description of Work: I told them all I needed was the plug put in for a new microwave. He told me if he did not do the work I still had to pay the service charge which was $59.00. I wanted an idea of the price before they came but the lady I spoke with at the office said they would have to see what the job entails. When the electrician arrived he had a laminated sheet with the standard pricing on it. I used him to put the plug in and he did a good job, but I would caution anyone who is considering him using them.

He came when I wasn't there so I had to call to find out where he was. This company was also $200 more than any other company.

 + -1 moreMike Fenrick, Mr. Quik Electric, temporarily repaired my burned out wall outlet, made temporary repairs to the breaker box, checked my microwave, which was damaged by the surge, checked 2 damaged lamps and reset my automatic garage door so it would open. I am extremely pleased with his rapid response to my emergency on a Sunday. He will be returning the 17th to make complete repairs, which he said would probably take 6 or 7 hours. When he wrote up my invoice he put detailed information on the bottom so that the electrical company would be able to understand the extent of the damage and that has made it easy for me to communicate with them and I believe I will be fully reimbursed. I felt confident with his knowledge and look forward to his return Monday to make all of the electrical 100% repaired. I was amazed a day or two later when I received a thank you card in the mail from his company with a personal note inside from the office manager, Jen Nemoseck. Wow! What a company.
Description of Work: On Sunday, 12/11/07, an IPL transformer blew up in my backyard and caused the main wire into my house to burn through and all electricity was shut off. The repair crew responded, but when they were finished, I could not reset one of my electrical breakers. When the repair man tried to reset it, sparks and smoke came out of a wall outlet and he shut it down and told me to call an electrical repair person immediately. When I called Mr. Quik, the phone was answered by a PERSON and not a machine and the woman said someone would respond within an hour. AND THEY DID. Mr. Mike Fenrick arrived promptly and immediately started temporary repairs on my breaker box as well as the outlet which had been smoking and several other electrical items on that same circuit. He was very professional and very thorough and he assured me that everything was now temporarily safe, but the entire circuit breaker box needed replacing. He will return this Monday to do the final work and that will cost $3,217.00.

I did not notice when he was done but it was not long.

Jen was very pleasant to talk to. I could have changed the breaker myself for much cheaper, but now I have the peace of mind knowing a pro looked everything over and OK'd it.
Description of Work: Changed a defective 20 amp breaker in our breaker box. I couldn't reset the breaker after it blew, so I thought there may be more of a problem than just a defective breaker. Mike found that the breaker was in fact mechanically malfunctioning and replaced it in 10 minutes. He then checked out all the wires and breakers in our box.

Description of Work: In my detached garage, I needed outlets added that would allow me to run my woodworking equipment. The existing garage outlets were running off a single 15 amp circuit, so when I used more than one piece of equipment, I usually threw the circuit. The previous owner already had wiring run underground from the house to the garage. It just needed to be connected to a breaker in the house and to an outlet in the garage. So I had the electrician install a 20 amp circuit, connect the wire to that and install a double socket in the garage. He also installed a junction box in the garage so I could tape into that wiring whenever I decided to put in additional lighting.
