.After talking to several people, I learned that a capacitor was usually $9-$25, plus installation. A friend helped me, and we got the part numbers and spent some time online and making phone calls. I went to the southside to pick up the capacitor for $11 and the blower motor for $220. My friend and I ( two 50ish women) and my son (22) then replaced the parts. The blower motor was harder because several parts had to be removed to allow access. The capacitor required turning one screw and connecting one wire. $200 for an $11 part and five minutes work is very unreasonable. $700 for a $220 part and about one hours work seems really steep also. I did receive a follow-up call several weeks later to see if I wanted to purchase the new system. I told them no, and what my experience was like. They quickly ended the call. I will be replacing my system in the future, but I will not be using this contractor for obvious reasons.
Description of Work: I called them out to perform a repair, using a free service call coupon. I was told I needed to replace a capacitor at $200, and a blower motor at $700. I decided to investigate options before spending that amount on a 12 yr old system. I then paid them $70 for the service call, which they said would be credited if I had them perform the work later. I also had them come out to give an estimate to replace the system, which came back at ~$8500 for a heat pump and outside unit. The representative also told me that the current system was not a heat pump. After he left, I looked at the unit, and it actually says heat pump on the manufacturer's label.

The first time I called, they came out within the window I was quoted. It was at the END of the window, but inside it nonetheless. The 2 servicemen spent 10 minutes snaking the kitchen drain, ran some water down it, and said it was clear. I paid a special advertised rate, and they left. They were polite and professional. The problem was....they didn't properly clear the drain! The next afternoon was the first chance I had to really do dishes, and run a continuous stream of water. It was backing up again. I called back, and they could not get anyone out there that night, so I was given at 2 hour window for the next morning. That next morning, 10 minutes before the "window" expired, I called, expressing concern that I had yet to hear from anyone about an arrival. I was put on hold for about 5 minutes, and then a girl got back on the phone and said that they located a technician in my area, and he would be there in 20 minutes. Apparently, they missed adding me to anyone's schedule for the day. When the techs did arrive, one was from the previous visit, and the other was a different guy. They were polite and professional, but this time spent about 30 minutes doing a very thorough job of clearing the drain, and being sure it was clear. There was no charge for the second visit, but I also was not offered a refund or partial reimbursement for them being late, which was what I thought was part of their slogan. All in all, not a bad job, but not great phone customer service.

They told me they would come between 1-3, they did that, they came and the man stood in the water from the overflowing comode and he turned and walked through my house. I had two comodes snaked out and I asked him what to do in the future for it to be prevented and he would just reply with "I don't know." He did not have any equipment to suck up any of the water and I asked him about it and he just recommended I call a restoration company. I though it was too costly. He was not professional.

I wasn't at home but my son said he was pleasant and I was pleased to have such a quick response and no mess to clean up. I was able to schedule an appointment online at their website before I left for work at 7am even though they don't open until 8am. I had a coupon and notated that in the request. I asked for a time between 8am and noon that day and they called my son to say they'd be there between 10am and noon. They also waived the service call fee of $69 in addition to honoring my coupon. I was so thankful for that as I am a single mother and money is tight. I called Mr. Quik because I'd had them service my air conditioner earlier in the summer and the repairman was so pleasant that I wanted to repeat business with them.

I was very pleased and will not hesitate to recommend this company to others: -Received 30 minute pre-arrival call -Asked if I had been experiencing power surges ( the answer is yes) but when I asked why he was asking - he showed me objective findings in the breaker box that made him ask the question. He checked all the outlets to make sure the problem was not more extensive and involving more lights/outlets than I was aware of. He showed me the problems - wires had come loose. He fixed the problem Pricing - he gave 3 different quotes 1) for fixing the problem 2) adding basic surge protection and 3) the choice of contracting for a annual coverage agreement. There was no pressure to do more than the repair but I elected to add the surge protector (1&2) -He was couteous and professional throughout. He answered any specific questions, but took the initiative to show what the problem was and explain it. -He arrived at the stated time for the appointment, He was efficient. He left everything clean and intact,

Overall, a good experience. The only complaint is that they did not call to let us know they were on their way. Just showed up and surprised our babysitter (I was not home, planned to come home when they called.) However, the were otherwise professional personnel who answered all of our questions. (They seemed a little nervous, though, when I started asking a lot of questions, as if they weren't comfortable with all the questions. But when you're looking at several thousand dollars in a new A/C purchase, we went to understand our options.)
Description of Work: Our whole-house A/C unit failed. We called and Mr. Quik came right away. They promptly assessed the problem with the A/C unit and did not charge for the assessment, likely because we are going to need a new A/C unit for our house and they want our business. Regardless of their reasons it was kind of them not to charge for the service call. Overall a good experience.

It took 4 to 5 phone calls to different plumbers, most of them did not return the phone calls but Mister Quick responded quickly and came to our place on time.

Our reverse osmosis system, installed in 2000 has never given us any problems. I have been able to install new filters on schedule and do other routine maintenance on the system as needed. I was very surprised to turn on the faucet one morning and nothing came out. I went to the garage where our furnace closet is located and was very surprised to see water all over the space. It seemed that every hose connector was spraying water. I turned off the system thinking I could firm up the connections and the problem would be solved. Not so! We had a house full of company and a big brunch planned for the next day so the problem had to be up off until things calmed down. I called Mr Quik on 8/8/11. The plumber came the next day and determined that the connectors had gone bad. They have O rings in them and they do wear out over time. He replaced several connections and we were good to go. However a few days later I looked into the closet and saw water spraying once again. I called and the plumber returned that afternoon and found he had missed one of the faulty connectors. The second repair was done with no charge.
Description of Work: Reverse osmosis system was spraying all over the furnace closet where it is installed.

Our heating/AC system went out on Memorial Day when the temps were 95 degrees plus. The furnace was dying and would need to be replaced. One part already gone and another "it is just a matter of time" we were told. The unit was 12+ years old and installed by the builder. We had already replaced the AC unit in 2006 and the struggle to find a replacement that would fit into the space available was lengthy. If we replaced the furnace and not the AC this year the space available was going to have to be reworked. We decided to replace with a heat pump because we had been hearing of the benefits of them and felt having one would add to the value of our home for future sale. We chose a Trane unit and it was installed on 6/2/11. Due to the very hot weather that week we were pleased that Mr Quik was able to supply us with a portable AC for the bedroom. As to the savings of a heat pump over a traditional furnace and air conditioner touted by the sales staff, we will have to wait for a few months to learn what they are. We have noticed that the house seems to have a more steady temperature. We don't notice ourselves checking the thermostat to see when the AC will come on.

It was a scam from start to finish and I fell for it. I had the free ceiling fan install coupon and when he got out to the house I had to have a beefed up something or other in the ceiling. Instead of being a $69 trip charge, it was $265.00. He had to check out the circuit panel and told us that it needed to be replaced and that he had all the parts on the truck and that it would cost $3221 for all the bells and whistles or $2562 for a safe one to be put in. We told him we needed another opinion. We had the top rated Angie's List Electrician come out and do a safety check and everything was just fine and nothing needed replacing. I will NEVER call Mr. Quik again. He did a fine job on the install, it works great, but that pushy scam was a real turnoff.
Description of Work: He put a heavy-duty electrical box in the celing and then Installed a ceiling fan.

Company had a free ceiling fan installation plus a $69.00 service charge coupon in the newspaper. I made an appointment and when the tech came out he gave me a quote of over $200.00! I said I have a coupon and he gave me a bunch of malarkey that it was only for standard ceiling fans and not deluxe ceiling fan like I had. We went round and round about the coupon and I told him he could leave. He said ok but I would need to pay him $69.00. I said that I was not going to pay and that my experience would be reported to Angies list. Then he said he would do the install for $69.00 + a $9.95 TFS charge whatever that is. He did a good job with the install and was a nice enough guy but I'm sure the coupon was to get in and do an upsell. He really wanted to sell me a service agreement.

It went fine; cured the leak. But the price for replacement for only 10 minutes of work seems outrageous, and this included a discount!
Description of Work: The pressure relief valve, located near the water heater was leaking and had to be replaced. It was replaced and only took about 10 minutes.

I really wanted to have a digital timing switch installed but was told that it was not possible. They overcharged me for the service and the work was not done properly. They said I needed a new electric panel installed, but when I contacted another electrician he said this was not true and was able to install the digital switch for cheaper than what I was originally told.

Called to schedule appointment and representative was very professional. Was able to schedule them for the next day and was given several options of two hour time frames. Serviceman, Rick, came within the time. Rick was very clean and put his booties on before coming into the house. He showed me my dirty filter and explained that it was actually a hindrance to have it in at all. I told him I'd go to hardware store to purchase a new one and he didn't try to pressure me into letting him replace it. He checked the outside unit and said everything was working fine. I was very pleased with him and would do business with Mister Quik again in the future based on the service that Rick gave.

Mr Quik Electric was called to replace two exterior outlets that were physically damaged (visibly burnt on the exterior) Neither outlet required access to any confined spaces. Both outlets were replaced, and, according to the supervisor Erich Roeder, each circuit was diagnosed, which includes opening the circuit panel and inspecting the circuit breaker and bus panel for damage. According to Mr Roeder, this is a flat rate charge per circuit, and the per circuit fee is the same($249.00), even if it is determined that the only problem is a loose connection at the outlet. Following this pricing model, there were 2 flat rate charges of $249.00, since the 2 outlets were on separate circuits, for a total of $499.95 for 1.3 hrs of labor, charged to a 73 year old widow who was too embarrassed to challenge the charges. According to Mr Roeder's logic, even if it had been 2 burned out light bulbs, the charge would have still been $499.95? In conversation with Mr Roeder, it was explained that the circuits are thoroughly tested, in order to ensure that quality work is provided, and to eliminate any warranty calls. However, a warranty call was required the very next day for one of the outlets that had just been repaired, which had failed. When a local commercial and residential competitor was contacted and asked for a rough verbal estimate to perform the same work, the quote was approximately $150 to replace both outlets. No mention was made of Mr Quik, but when it was mentioned that the work had already completed and the charges to complete the work, the competitor immediately stated "Oh, you must have called Mister Quik Electric!" This is the reputation that Mister Quick Electric has with their peers.
Description of Work: Two exterior electrical outlets were replaced, no egress required. Diagnostics were performed on both circuits, including circuit breakers and circuit buss bars.

During a bad storm a tree took the weatherhead off our property when the tree fell. Because our tenants were without electricity we immediately called Mr. Quick. They came out and replaced the weatherhead and we were able to have electricity restored the same day. Today 6-15-11 the weatherhead came off again in a storm. Since the electrical wires were on the ground we felt it was an emergency. We called them again , since it was obvious it was not installed correctly orginally. Well the technician wanted to charge us for an entire new job. What happened to standing behind your work. The paperwork claims a 90 day warranty, Mr.Quick has not lived up to their guarantee which makes it hard for us to recommend them to anyone else. They took advantage of the emergency nature of the event and claimed they fixed something that they didn't. We attempted to call the manager at 1:30 but was told he was unavailable. We called back at 3:30 and was told he was on the phone and would call us back. It has been three hours and we have yet to receive a return call.

I'm a real estate agent. I was getting bids to correct electrical items as discovered by home inspection. Called Mr. Quik and they were responsive and professional. After looking at the scope of work, the tech looked in his pricing book and quoted $1100+! ...(example: to switch out an older outlet with a GFI - $125 EACH) I paid him his service call fee ($70ish), sent him on his way and called Broad Ripple P & L, also a licensed electrician. They were not as quick to respond, but they did come out and quoted the whole job for $410. Almost a third of Mr Quik. If you don't need immediate attention, I'd call Broad Ripple P & L

I spent $30000 on that work. After they first put it in, I did not get cool air. A guy came out and made some adjustments outside and I started getting cool air. The workers were ok. I did have one issue where when they had the cool air coming in, I was not getting hot air. He said it was something to do with a thermostat not getting to the furnace. He was trying to charge me for it and I told him that I was not going to pay for it. They went ahead and put a new thermostat and took care of it.
Description of Work: I used Mister Quik Electric in May this year to put in a new air conditioning unit outside and a new coil inside.

Nick showed up on time, gave me a quote and got right to work. He was very friendly and there was absolutely no pressure sales. Their price was good and he even trouble-shooted and repaired and outlet for me before he left. I used them because of the price but am very impressed with them and plan to use in the future.

March 9,2011 plumber removed back-up unit for sump pump for service or repair. I kept calling to find out status. I was told numerous times that someone would contact me with information. I called again on MAY 27, 2011 and was told from Brandon that he thought someone else had contacted me. Infact, no one bothered to tell me the unit was not repairable. After waiting almost 3 months with no satisfaction, I will contact a more reliable company to finish the work Mr. Quick started. I suggest they change their name, nothing quick about the work they did for me. I will never use this company again!
Description of Work: Back-up unit for sump pump failed, plumber removed for service or replacement.
