WE PURCHASED QUARTZ COUNTER TOPS AT LOWE'S BECAUSE WE FELT THAT THE VALUE FOR THE PRODUCT WAS BETTER THAN THE COMPETITION. THEY SUB-CONTRACT TO A COMPANY OUT OF CINCINNATI CALLED SOLID SURFACE CONCEPTS WHO ACTUALLY PROVIDE THE AVANZA COUNTERTOP MATERIALS AND THE INSTALLERS. IN THE END, WE SETTLED FOR HALF THE COST OF THE DAMAGED CENTER ISLAND, BUT NEVER RECEIVED AN APOLOGY OR SETTLEMENT FROM LOWE'S. LOWE S TOOK NO OWNERSHIP FOR HAVING WORKED WITH SOLID SURFACE CONCEPTS. SINCE THIS INCIDENT, OUR NEIGHBOR TOLD US OF A SIMILAR INCIDENT THAT OCCURRED WITH THIS SAME STORE.
Description of Work: ON THE DAY OF OUR INSTALLATION MY WIFE AND I STAYED HOME TO MEET THE INSTALLERS. WE RECEIVED A PHONE CALL THAT MORNING FROM THE INSTALLATION DEPT AT LOWES ASKING IF OUR COUNTERTOPS HAD BEEN INSTALLED YET. I TOLD THEM THEY WERE SCHEDULED TO COME THAT DAY. THEY TOLD ME TO CALL HIM BACK IF WE HAD ANY PROBLEMS. AT 1:30, I CALLED THE INSTALLATION DEPT. BACK. SOLID SURFACE CONCEPTS SAID THEY WERE HAVING TRUCK PROBLEMS AND HAD TRIED TO CALL. AT 4PM THE INSTALLERS SHOWED UP. TWO GUYS CAME, BUT AFTER A SHORT WHILE, THE SECOND GUY LEFT WITH THE TRUCK LEAVING ALL OF THE TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT ON OUR DRIVEWAY. THE INSTALLATION HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS INCLUDING (1) ONE OF THE BACK SPLASHES WAS CUT WRONG, (2) THE ISLAND COUNTER TOP WAS DROPPED WHEN THEY WERE PLACING IT, AND (3) THE ISLAND HAD A CHIP, A LONG SCRATCH, AND A LONG BLACK MARK DOWN THE SIDE. THEY CAME BACK 5 WEEKS LATER WITH THE FINISHED BACK SPLASH AND REPAIRED THE CHIP.

CABINET TRIM PIECES DID NOT MATCH IN COLOR, RECEIVED A FEW DAMAGED PIECES WHICH HAD TO BE RETURNED. AFTER HAVING SOME INSTALLATION PROBLEMS, THEY SENT OUT AN INSTALLER TO QUOTE INSTALLATION AFTER THE CABINETS WERE DELIVERED AND HE QUOTED WHOLE NEW CABINET SCHEME IN LIEU OF INSTALLING CABINETS PURCHASED. FINALLY, AFTER MUCH FRUSTRATION, WE HAD OUR GENERAL CONTRACTOR INSTALL THE CABINETS AND HAD MORE PROBLEMS. HARD TO GET APPOINTMENTS AND OFTEN YOU HAD TO WAIT FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME.

WHEN WE ORDERED OUR CARPET IT WAS BACK ORDERED, BUT THEY DIDNT TELL ME THAT. THEY CALLED TO SCHEDULE INSTALLATION AND THEN THEY DIDNT SHOW UP. I CALLED THEM TO FIND OUT WHY THEY DIDNT SHOW AND THEY SAID IT WAS BECAUSE THE CARPET WAS BACK ORDERED. IT PUT ME IN A REAL BIND BECAUSE I HAD TAKEN MY PIANO TO BE REFINISHED AND WHEN THEY WERE DONE WITH THE PIANO THEY COULDNT BRING IT BACK BECAUSE THE CARPET WASNT INSTALLED YET. LOWES DID PAY THE COSTS OF HOLDING THE PIANO. THEY ALSO MESSED UP MY BACKYARD WHEN THEY CAME TO INSTALL. THEY PULLED THE TRUCK AROUND BACK AND IT GOT STUCK. THE INSTALLERS WERE PROFESSIONAL AND VERY NICE.
