The experience with Lifestyle was fantastic! I originally had to leave a message because the team wasn't able to take my original call, but Geoff got back in touch promptly. Actually, he contacted me over the weekend and said it was OK to call him back at any point during the weekend. Shortly thereafter Geoff came out to the house to look at the Kitchen and work up an estimate. He was a very attentive listener and understood what my boundaries were and did not push anything on me that he didn't feel I was comfortable with. He explained his business model and made it very clear how his company worked. I went to their showroom for a more in depth meeting with Geoff and Kirsten, the designer and got a chance to look at their facility. They are a one stop shopping outfit and have everything there to make it easy to visualize what could go into your kitchen. They were professional, friendly, flexible and not down your throat. A great experience, overall. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Geoff and his team provided a detailed estimate and creative design for a kitchen remodel.

We worked with Ryan Horen on a room addition project concept. Because of the recent housing market slump, we decided not to do the project. Lifestyle invested much time answering our emails, meeting with us, and generating the paper work involved in presenting a project. Our final meeting was to finalize the project and sign the papers. When we discussed our concerns and final decision not to do the project, Ryan was understanding and professional in his responses to us. We will keep Lifestyles in mind for future projects. They were professional at every step of the project.

We used Lifestyle for a $200k remodel of the entire first floor 3 years ago. We then had them do the front porch this fall. Ryan came out and made suggestions on our vision and the project began. We decided to add railings halfway through the project and this was done seamlessly and effortlessly by the Lifestyle crew. The entire project was well orchestrated and as always, very professional. Also the new website system allows you to see exactly what's happening at any time. Very progressive! Of note, we had several bids by other companies. Some were cheaper but as a whole these other companies either portrayed themselves as amateurs or were simply rude. You get what you pay for with Lifestyle.

WE APPRECIATE THE GRADES GIVEN WITH REGARD TO PROFESSIONALISM AND RESPONSIVENESS, HOWEVER, IT'S IMPORTANT THAT PEOPLE UNDERSTAND A COUPLE OF OTHER THINGS RELATED TO THIS REPORT. FIRST, WE VISITED THIS CLIENT IN JUNE OF 2006, SO IT HAS BEEN 1-1/2 YEARS SINCE THE TIME OF OUR INTERACTION WITH THIS CLIENT. IT MAKES LITTLE SENSE AS TO WHY A CLIENT WOULD SUBMIT A REPORT THIS LONG AFTER. UPON REVIEW OF THE INTERACTION IN 2006, WE REAFFIRM OUR FEELINGS THAT THIS CLIENT PRESENTED TO US A PROJECT THAT WOULD HAVE FALLEN IN THE 160,000 RANGE. PLEASE UNDERSTAND AS A PERSPECTIVE CLIENT, WE ARE PROFESSIONAL REMODELERS WHO LOOK AT PROJECTS AND PRICING EVERY SINGLE DAY. WE KEEP AN EXTENSIVE HISTORY OF PRICING OF PROJECTS IN ORDER TO SHARE WITH CLIENTS VERY EARLY IN THE PROCESS WHAT WE CONSIDER TO BE A GENERAL PRICE RANGE FOR THEIR POTENTIAL PROJECT. OUR GOAL IS NOT TO BE EXACT AS EVERY PROJECT IS DIFFERENT, BUT RATHER TO BE DIRECTIONALLY CORRECT TO HELP A CLIENT UNDERSTAND "REALISTICALLY" WHAT THEIR PROJECT MIGHT COST. AS WE THEN GET INTO THE DETAIL ON A PROJECT, WE THEN GET MORE SPECIFIC ON THE PRICE FOR THAT PROJECT. THE MOST IMPORTANT MESSAGE WE WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU IN THIS RESPONSE IS THIS - IT SERVES NO PURPOSE FOR US TO GIVE ANY CLIENT A HIGH PRICE UP FRONT AND DRIVE THEM AWAY. EQUALLY, IT IS NOT IN OUR COMPANY CULTURE TO "LOW BALL" ESTIMATES TO STEAL A JOB ONLY TO ADD CHANGE ORDERS TO EVERY PROJECT LIKE MANY COMPETITORS. WE WILL BE HONEST & REALISTIC WITH CLIENTS TO SET EXPECTATIONS.

Ryan came out to look at my porch and noticed it was leaning, so he suggested this be remedied before any other work could be performed. Once my porch and deck were taken care of, Ryan sent someone out to measure the porch for the windows. The posts on my original porch were removed, new ones installed to support the windows and the posts and the rest of my porch were painted. It took a few weeks for the windows to arrive since they had to be ordered, but they were installed without difficulty and the porch looks great. Ryan suggested a color different than my original thought and he was right on. The windows look great. I wish I had done it before.
Description of Work: I had this company install EZ Breeze windows on my porch. I wanted this system because my porch is high off the ground and the builder told me not to add glass windows because they would be too heavy. I was happy to find a vinyl system that looked good.

That was our last contact with him. Frankly, he seemed disinterested in the project while he was at our home. Even though he told us how professional their company was and how their work was excellent and far above their competitors, he almost gave the impression that he was not all that interested in being there. He said more than once that it would cost $15,000 to $20,000. We did not reject this amount when he mentioned the price. In fact, we were impressed with the appearance of a quality product in the materials that he left with us. We had also been told by a friend that their relatives had used some of the same materials for porch windows and had been very happy with them, and I share this information with him. We fully expected to hear back from this company and anticipated they would provide a good product. However, we believe it unacceptable to never get back with us after we had taken our time to meet with their representative in their home.
Description of Work: A representative of the company, Ryan, visited our home on August 31, and said he would get back with us on plans and a cost estimate. After approximately two weeks, I called him to tell him we wanted to increase the size of the screened porch to cover the existing desk rather than just half of the deck. He said he was just starting to work on the plan, so the timing of my call was good.

CLIENT HAD MANY VERSIONS OF THE POTENTIAL PROJECT TO LOOK AT - EVERYTHING FROM ADDING AN AWNING TO THE HOUSE TO ADDING A SCREEN PORCH OR A THREE SEASON ROOM OR MAYBE JUST EXTEND THEIR DECK. THEY WERE ALL OVER THE PLACE. IN THESE CASES, WE EDUCATE THE CLIENT ABOUT COST PROJECTIONS FOR THE VARIOUS PROJECTS TO SEE WHICH MIGHT BE THE MOST LOGICAL FIT WITH BUDGET & WISH LIST. THIS ENSURES WE DON'T DESIGN A BMW PROJECT WHEN OWNER WISHES TO INVEST IN A KIA PROJECT MORE FOCUSED ON FUNCTION AND VALUE. WE DID NOT GET ANY DIRECTION OR ANY RESPONSE FROM CLIENT. WHEN WE RETURNED TO THE OFFICE, HAVING BEEN GIVEN NO SPECIFIC DIRECTION TO MOVE FORWARD ON ANYTHING AND WITH THE IMPRESSION FROM CLIENT REACTION THAT THEY WERE NOT AT ALL INTERESTED IN MOVING FORWARD, WE CAME BACK TO THE OFFICE AND NOTED: "NOT A GOOD VISIT. CLIENT DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE SERIOUS INTENTIONS TO DO ANY OF THESE PROJECTS - FROM THE CONVERSATION BELIEVE HER EXPECTATIONS TO BE UNREALISTIC. SERIOUSLY DOUBT THE CLIENT WILL CALL BACK WITH ANY DIRECTION TO MOVE FORWARD ON A SPECIFIC PROJECT." EVERY TIME WE VISIT A HOME, WE EITHER LEAVE WITH DETAILS AND INFORMATION TO PRICE A SPECIFIC PROJECT OR WE HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING WHAT THE NEXT STEPS ARE WITH THE CLIENT - SOMETIMES THEY JUST WANT TO THINK ABOUT IT & CALL BACK IF THEY WANT TO MOVE FORWARD. WE GAVE HER PRICE INFO, BUT GOT NO CALL BACK TO PROCEED. THIS REPORT WAS RUDE AND WE WERE SURPRISED BY TONE. PLEASE READ ALL OF OUR REPORTS, WE OFFER OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO CLIENTS!

I think Ryan was very helpful and honest. He was willing to work with me within the limitations he described. I would use them again and probably will on other projects.
Description of Work: Ryan came to give me an estimate on kitchen and bathroom remodeling, but was not able to match the wood on my present cabinets which I wanted to keep, so we were limited on what could be done. After investigating further I felt that the remodeling project would not work for us so I did not proceed. I have given an approximate cost of $1.00 because no cost applies in this situation and I could not proceed without putting a figure into this space.

They wasted our time. We would have called someone else, instead of waiting for them to come out. We took time off work to be here to meet with them. The project was delayed while we waited for them to come out and call back. We would have much preferred them being honest and telling us they don't do attics on our initial call. We would have moved on and called someone else.
Description of Work: We called them to get a quote to add an attic on our ranch home, in the unused area under the roof. We were specific as to what we wanted on our initial phone call. They sent someone out, to do an "estimate". When the estimator arrived, he didn't even look at the area where we wanted the work done. He said they "don't do attics" and he would call in a day or two and confirm with us that "they don't do attics". Well, they don't do attics. Why didn't they tell us that on our initial call? They wasted our time and it makes us feel as if our time is not valuable to them.

THIS CLIENT DID CALL US. WE WENT TO THE HOME TO SEE IF WE COULD HELP, INTENDING TO LOOK AT THE ATTIC PROJECT WHEN WE ARRIVED, BUT IT PROVED TO BE IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE THE AREA WAS NOT ABLE TO BE FINISHED DUE TO THE PRESENCE OF A TRUSS ROOF STRUCTURE IN THIS PRODUCTION BUILT HOME. IT WAS NEVER INTENDED TO BE A FINISHED SPACE THE WAY THE HOME WAS BUILT. WE POLITELY TOLD CLIENTS AS MUCH AND THEY ARE UPSET. THE REPORT SAID WE WASTED THEIR TIME. ACTUALLY, WE WASTED OUR OWN TIME TRYING TO HELP THEM. WE MAKE CHOICES OF HOW WE SPEND OUR TIME EVERY DAY AS A SMALL COMPANY. ON THIS DAY, WE CHOSE TO USE OUR TIME LOOKING AT THIS PROJECT - A PROJECT THAT COULD NOT BE DONE AND WILL NEVER BE DONE BY ANY COMPANY BECAUSE THERE IS NOT A CLIENT WHO WILL EVER PAY TO COMPLETELY TEAR OFF THEIR ENTIRE ROOF STRUCTURE AND REFRAME THE ROOF STRUCTURE THE SAME WAY SIMPLY TO FINISH THE SPACE. IT JUST ISN'T COST JUSTIFIED AND MAKES NO SENSE. WE OFFERED THE CLIENT AN IDEA OF WHAT THE COST WOULD BE TO FINISH THE SPACE IF IT WAS STICK FRAMED ORIGINALLY IN A WAY THAT THE SPACE COULD BE USED AND THE CLIENT'S BUDGET WAS ENTIRELY INSUFFICIENT. OUR AL RECORD SHOWS REPORTS FOR ATTIC FINISHES. WE DO MANY OF THESE PROJECTS AND WE NEVER TELL PEOPLE THAT "WE DON'T DO ATTICS". IF WE DIDN'T DO THEM, WHY WOULD WE HAVE GONE TO LOOK AT THE PROJECT IN THE FIRST PLACE? THE DISTINCTION IN THIS CASE IS WE "CAN'T DO THIS ONE". THAT IS DRASTICALLY DIFFERENT THAN NOT DOING ATTICS AT ALL.

The Lifestyle group was excellent to work with from beginning to end. They spent a great deal of time working with us on the design and helping us get within a doable budget. The kitchen designer was completely open to our ideas and likes and dislikes but always was willing to help us make a decision. Once the work began, the workers were top notch. They worked hard, were friendly and helpful and never left a mess. It was obvious that they took great pride in their work. Each worker took his job seriously and paid careful attention to details. We are thrilled with our new kitchen and with all of the trim and beam work. Our house was completely transformed by the project. We have no complaints about this company. Whenever we found the slightest thing that was not done quite right or to our liking, the Lifestyle Group was quick to fix the problem.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen overhaul. Designed kitchen, cabinet/counter top tear out and replacement. Widened wall opening and replaced trim throughout the kitchen area and "hearth room". Refinished existing exposed decorative beams and added cross beams. Painted walls.
We had multiple contractors visit and discuss our project and we received three estimates for work to be performed. We decided to go with lifestyle because they gave a professional and timely response to our inquiries. They answered all concerns we had and gave assurance that they would do whatever it took to satisfy our needs. They initiated a web based communication site and gave us a schedule to follow. This project took about six weeks to complete and for the most part we were always in communication. We did have a couple of hiccups along the way, but the company always responded in a positive fashion to our concerns.
Description of Work: Remodel family room requiring removal of suspended ceiling and wall paneling. We then would have new drywall installed in ceiling and walls. We have a two story home and this room was part of an addition that was built onto the back of the house in the 1970's. Upon estimating work to be done it was determined that it would be necessary to add additional floor support for the second floor and this required additional framing to two supporting walls. It was also necessary to change plumbing and ventilation ducting for the upstair bedrooms.

Our experience with Lifestyle Group was and is excellent. From working with us to design what we needed within the financial parameters we put in place, to working hard to get us through some sticky and time-consuming permits to the actual construction process, Lifestyle was in regular contact with us and responded quickly to my questions and inquiries. We are pleased with the construction process and with the business side of things. Lifestyle Group's commitment to us was extraordinary.
Description of Work: Through Ryan Horen we contracted with Lifestyle Group to build an addition consisting of a family room, master bedroom, walk-in closet and bathroom. This company did an outstanding job from start to finish. Ryan, their salesperson, is so wonderful to work with. We had to redesign the room several times due to permit regulations & he never gave up to find yet another way of fitting the room into the lot. We had someone working in the house each and every day after start & they worked very hard and fast to make our deadline. This is even more amazing, since it was in the middle of winter with sometimes very cold temperatures outside. They completed every part of the job very well, & to our fullest satisfaction. Their workers were very courteous, honest & always cleaned up after themselves. They always kept us in the loop what's next so that we can be prepared. With this kind of project, dirt in the house is unavoidable, but they always kept a drop cloth hanging in the hallway to keep it to a minimum. There were close to no issues. Things were fixed extremely fast & to our satisfaction. We definitely would choose them again.
Description of Work: Add one room (15x15) to house from start (permit, digging crawlspace) to finish (painting, carpet) and rearranged walls in two rooms within house to get new hallway to new room.

The installation went well. For a while they could not figure out how to lift the 350 lb. to 500 lb stairway up to the ceiling so they could install it. The electrician that they hired to help with the job figured out how to do it. The electrician was 6'5', so he was tall enough to help get it to the ceiling. It was a more difficult job than they realized. It took four men to do it. I fear that they may have lost money on this job.

THE TRUTH IS WE TOOK THIS PROJECT ON BECAUSE WE THOUGHT THE MECHANICAL STAIRWAY HE PURCHASED WAS INNOVATIVE (AKA - COOL) AND WE WANTED TO SEE HOW IT WORKED - WHAT BETTER WAY THAN TO INSTALL IT. YES, WE ENDED UP HAVING UNEXPECTED PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT WE SOLVED THE PROBLEM AND INSTALLED THE UNIT. MOST IMPORTANTLY TO THIS CLIENT AND HOPEFULLY OTHER ANGIE'S LIST PROSPECTIVE CLIENTS... REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT WE MADE MONEY ON THIS (OKAY, WE DIDN'T DUE TO THE CHALLENGES) - WE DID NOT MAKE OUR PROBLEM HIS PROBLEM. WE DID THE JOB AND COMPLETED WHAT WE AGREED TO WITHOUT COMING BACK AND TELLING THE CLIENT, "YOU HAVE TO PAY US MORE MONEY BECAUSE IT TOOK LONGER." NOR DID WE WALK OFF THE JOB WHEN WE REALIZED THE CHALLENGE WAS COMPROMISING OUR PROFITABILITY. OUR APPROACH IS SIMPLE... WE MAY LOSE MONEY ON A TASK HERE AND THERE, BUT SERVICING THE CLIENT IS MOST IMPORTANT. THIS CLIENT KNOWS WE WILL DO WHAT WE SAY WE WILL. THE NEXT TIME HE HAS A PROJECT, WE THINK HE WILL REMEMBER THAT AND CALL US AGAIN. OUR HOPE IS THAT OTHERS SEE THIS AND REALIZE THAT IS HOW WE RUN OUR BUSINESS WHETHER YOUR PROJECT IS $400 LIKE THIS ONE OR $170,000 LIKE ANOTHER RECENT REPORT SUBMITTED WITH THE SAME THEME - WE ARE NOT PERFECT, BUT WE ALWAYS DO WHAT WE SAY WE WILL DO, WE ALWAYS FIX OUR MISTAKES, AND WE NEVER MAKE OUR PROBLEM A CLIENT'S PROBLEM.

Lifestyle has done an outstanding job honoring their warranty on the the work they completed. The project itself was massive and since its completion has resulted in numerous compliments and absolute awe by some in construction and design (including friends in the construction business). The warranty work was excellent and response time to fixing problems was within 24 hrs. There probably is no better company in Indianapolis in retrospect for large scale remodels, especially in responsiveness to problems AFTER the work was completed.

They let us do some of the work, ie: strip wallpaper, paint, and add towel bars on our own to save money. They cleaned up nicely each and every day and it took more than two weeks. We had a leak a few months later and they came back ASAP.
Description of Work: They took out old shower and old counter top. They built a new make-up/stand-up area, changed a tub to a stand up shower with ceramic tile and glass doors. They put in a new sink top and replaced the floor and light fixtures.
The carpenters and electrician did a great job! They were pleasant and always cleaned up after themselves. The work they did was excellent. I was a little disappointed in the slow response from the office as far as letting me know when workers and materials would arrive, or to answer questions. I also was disappointed that the salesperson was very difficult to reach after the contract was signed. He seemed to be overworked. He forgot a few small details in our building plans. However, they were caught by the carpenters and electrician. I think this is a great company that needs to hire more staff in sales and in the office. I believe it's family-run which is great, but I think they are spreading themselves too thin.
Description of Work: Partially Finished half our basement: framing, drywall, electrical, and installed new windows. We did the painting, door hanging, and trim work ourselves.

WE REALLY ENJOYED WORKING FOR THIS CLIENT. FROM OUR PERSPECTIVE, THE PROJECT WENT VERY SMOOTHLY. IT WAS RELATIVELY SMALL AND FAIRLY QUICK, SO VERY FEW ISSUES POPPED UP. AFTER FOLLOW UP INTERNALLY WITHIN OUR COMPANY TO REVIEW THE REPORT SUBMITTED, WE COULD NOT RECALL ANY ISSUE THAT LASTED MORE THAN ONE BUSINESS DAY BEFORE IT WAS PHYSICALLY ADDRESSED, WHICH WE BELIEVE TO BE QUITE REASONABLE. THERE WAS A PERIOD OF ABOUT ONE WEEK DURING THE PROJECT WHERE THE SALESMAN HAD EVERYTHING HITTING HIM AT ONCE ON VARIOUS PROJECTS, AS HAPPENS FROM TIME TO TIME IN OUR BUSINESS, BUT THERE WAS NEVER AN ISSUE THAT WAS DELAYED BEYOND THE 24 HOUR PERIOD, NOR DID ANY ISSUE RISE TO THE LEVEL OF CONFLICT OR EVEN FRUSTRATION ON THE PART OF THE CLIENT. OUR GOAL IS 24 HOUR TURNAROUND ON ANY ISSUE THAT IS BROUGHT TO OUR ATTENTION AND CAN BE REASONABLY HANDLED IN SUCH A PERIOD OF TIME. WE WERE NEVER MADE AWARE OF ANY CONCERNS BY THE CLIENT AT ANY TIME OR WE WOULD HAVE BENT OVER BACKWARDS TO RESOLVE, AS WE WOULD FOR ANY CLIENT.
