THEIR CARPENTERS WERE VERY GOOD. THEIR PLUMBER, SUPERVISORS AND SALES PEOPLE LEFT A LOT TO BE DESIRES. ALWAYS LOTS OF EXCUSES AND MADE US FEEL AS THOUGH THEY WERE DOING US A FAVOR. WE HAD A HARD TIME FIGURING OUT WHO THE CUSTOMER WAS.
Description of Work: FULLY REMODELED KITCHEN INCLUDING KNOCKING OUT A WALL, REMOVING DOORS AND ADDING WINDOWS. WE PUT IN NEW COUNTER TOPS AND CABINETS, NEW FLOORING AND FIXTURES. WE ALSO HAD 5 INTERIOR 6 PANEL DOORS HUNG. ADDITIONALLY, WE HAD OUR EXTERIOR DECK REMOVED AND A NEW WRAP AROUND COVERED PORCH ADDED.

Response from Lifestyle Group Residential Remodeling
THIS REPORT IS SO DISAPPOINTING. SADLY, IT WAS FROM A VERY SUCCESSFUL PROJECT THAT WAS COMPLETED IN 2007... 2 YEARS AGO. THE CLIENT BECAME MAD AT US RECENTLY FOR A REASON I WILL EXPLAIN BELOW AND SOMEHOW ANGIE'S LIST HAS DETERMINED THAT A REPORT SUBMITTED 2 YEARS LATER FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF HURTING OUR COMPANY'S REPUTATION IS ACCEPTABLE. IN REALITY, THIS PROJECT WENT VERY WELL AT THE TIME OF COMPLETION 2 YEARS AGO. DURING CONTRACT SIGNING, WE REVIEWED THE SPECIFICATIONS IN DETAIL WITH THE CLIENT LINE BY LINE. THE CLIENT NOTICED THAT WE HAD IN WRITING TO ADD AN ICE MAKER LINE FOR THE REFRIGERATOR. WE WERE TOLD BY THE CLIENT AT THAT TIME THEY WERE NOT HAVING A REFRIGERATOR WITH AN ICE MAKER. THEY LITERALLY CROSSED THIS OUT OF THE SPECIFICATIONS TO SIGNIFY THIS WAS A TASK NO LONGER TO BE COMPLETED AND THEY INITIALED IT. AT THE END OF THE PROJECT, GUESS WHAT TYPE OF REFRIGERATOR THEY BOUGHT... YES, ONE WITH AN ICE MAKER. GUESS WHAT THEY ASKED US TO DO... YES, RUN THE WATER LINE. NO BIG DEAL AT ALL. WE RAN ONE, DID NOT EVEN CHARGE THEM OR CONSIDER CHARGING THEM FOR THE TIME TO RUN OUR PLUMBER BACK OUT. AS A MATTER OF FACT, THE PLUMBER RESPONDED VERY QUICKLY TO THE REQUEST. THE PROJECT HAD GONE WELL AND THE CLIENT WAS HAPPY SO THERE WAS NO REASON TO END ON A BAD NOTE. HOW DO WE KNOW THEY WERE HAPPY? HERE ARE TWO E-MAILS FROM THE CLIENT TO US IN 2007 RIGHT AROUND THE TIME OF PROJECT COMPLETION. FIRST, AN UNSOLICITED E-MAIL FROM THE HUSBAND TO US “THE KITCHEN AND DECK LOOKS GREAT! THANKS.” NEXT, AN UNSOLICITED E-MAIL SENT SEPARATELY FROM THE WIFE IN 2007: “EVERYTHING LOOKS SO WONDERFUL…WE’RE VERY EXCITED ABOUT HAVING IT ALL COMPLETED! NOW IF I COULD ONLY FIND THE PERFECT KITCHEN CURTAINS! (YOU GUYS DON’T DO CURTAINS, DO YOU? JUST KIDDING). THANKS.” THOSE E-MAILS DO NOT SOUND LIKE THE COMMENTS OF UNHAPPY CLIENTS. WHEN WE ENGAGE IN DEMOLITION OF A KITCHEN, NORMALLY IN THE ROUGH PLUMBING PHASE, WE WOULD SET A NICE ICE MAKER BOX IN THE WALL BEHIND THE REFRIGERATOR AND RUN A WATER LINE TO IT WITH ITS OWN SHUT OFF VALVE. THE TIME TO DO THAT IS WHEN THERE IS NO DRYWALL, NO CABINETS OR COUNTERTOPS AND YOU CAN PROPERLY RUN THE PLUMBING, THEN FIX THE DRYWALL. IN THIS CASE, SINCE THE ENTIRE PROJECT WAS COMPLETE WHEN THEY MADE THEIR LAST MINUTE REQUEST, WE DID WHAT ANY PLUMBER OR ANY LEGITIMATE CONTRACTOR WOULD DO -- WE RAN THE WATER LINE FROM THE KITCHEN SINK PLUMBING USING THAT SHUT OFF AND A FLEXIBLE WATER LINE TO REACH THE REFRIGERATOR. IT IS A COMPLETELY APPROPRIATE AND INDUSTRY ACCEPTED APPROACH. IT HAPPENS EVERY SINGLE DAY WHEN A CLIENT BUYS THEIR FIRST REFRIGERATOR WITH AN ICE MAKER AND THAT NEW REFRIGERATOR IS PLACED IN THEIR EXISTING CABINET OPENING. THEY JUST HAVE A PLUMBER RUN A FLEXIBLE LINE. WHEN THIS CLIENT INSTALLED HIS NEW REFRIGERATOR AFTER OUR PROJECT BY SLIDING IT IN THE DESIGNATED OPENING, HE DIDN'T REALIZE HE PINCHED THE LINE AND CREATED A SLOW LEAK BELOW HIS REFRIGERATOR. HIS ACCIDENTAL MISTAKE IMMEDIATELY BECAME OUR FAULT. HE JUST WASN'T CAREFUL. I OFFERED TO RUN OUT AND REPLACE THE LINE FOR HIM AS A KIND GESTURE, BUT HE STATED HE ALREADY DID IT HIMSELF. NOW, THIS REPORT SHOWS UP... 2 YEARS LATER. WE ARE AT A COMPLETE LOSS AT HOW TO RESPOND TO THIS. AS A COMPANY THAT TRIES TO DO THE RIGHT THING EVERY DAY AND TREAT PEOPLE THE RIGHT WAY, THUS 10 STRAIGHT YEARS OF ANGIE'S LIST SUPER SERVICE PROVIDER AWARDS, WE KNOW WE WILL RUN INTO A CHALLENGING CLIENT OR TWO ALONG THE WAY EACH YEAR. WHAT WE DON'T UNDERSTAND IS HOW TO RESPOND TO A REPORT SUBMITTED LIKE THIS TO ANGIE'S LIST WHEN IT DOES NOT IN ANY WAY REFLECT THE RELATIONSHIP DURING THE PROJECT. THEIR GRADES ABOVE ARE COMPLETELY BASED ON THE FACT THE HUSBAND CREATED A LEAK AND THINKS WE ARE TO BLAME. WE HOPE THIS PROJECT RECEIVES THE CREDIBILITY IT DESERVES, WHICH IS NONE. WE APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE OUR SIDE OF THE STORY.

The project went very smooth and work was done in a timely fashion. The overall result is a stunning improvement from the previous look. Communication was excellent. We simply will not have anyone else work on our house for any major project. Lifestyle may not be the cheapest but the worksmanship is of a quality that is not apporached by any other remodeling company we have dealt with in Indy.

Lifestyle Group was very professional throughout the process. They were punctual, demonstrated a good understanding of our project and were very detail oriented. However their estimate was very high in comparison to other estimates we obtained and the quality of materials quoted was not as good as the other estimates. We chose to go with another contractor for our project. ($60,000.00)
Description of Work: We contacted Lifestyle Group to provide an estimate for our home remodeling project. The project included roof replacement, siding replacement, kitchen remodel, remodeling 2 full baths and 1 half bath, master bedroom, interior painting, etc. Lifestyle Group scheduled an appointment, came out and measured, listened to our thoughts on the project and scheduled a follow up appointment at their showroom to go over the estimate.

WE APPRECIATE THE FEEDBACK THE MEMBER PROVIDED ONLINE. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY NEVER CALLED US BACK TO TELL US, SO THIS IS THE FIRST FEEDBACK WE HAVE RECEIVED. THE MEMBER INDICATES THEY DID A $60,000 PROJECT, YET OUR TOTAL PROJECT PRICE OF $56,674.68 INCLUDED RESIDING THE ENTIRE EXTERIOR OF THEIR HOME, AND SIGNIFICANT PROJECTS THE KITCHEN, LAUNDRY, POWDER BATHROOM, AS WELL AS THE ENTIRE SECOND FLOOR OF THE HOME. WE STRUGGLE TO BELIEVE WE ARE OUT OF WHACK ON PRICE SO SIGNIFICANTLY TO ANYONE ON THIS PROJECT. WE HAVE BEEN AGGRESSIVELY PRICING OUR PROJECTS IN THIS CHALLENGING ECONOMY IN SUCH A MANNER THAT IF A HOMEOWNER GETS A SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER PRICE FROM A COMPETITOR, THEY BETTER WORRY ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO GET. WE TELL CLIENTS THAT IF YOU LOOK AT OUR ENTIRE BODY OF WORK - INCLUDING ALL OF OUR REPORTS ON ANGIE'S LIST - AND ASSESS THE VARIOUS AWARDS WE HAVE WON, THE MOST RECENT BEING THE 2008 BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU ETHICS AWARD, YOU WILL FIND THAT WE ARE A NO RISK PARTNER WHO DOES THINGS THE RIGHT WAY. IN THESE DIFFICULT TIMES, YOU HAVE TO BE VERY, VERY CAREFUL WHO YOU PARTNER WITH. AS FOR THE COMMENT ABOUT INFERIOR PRODUCTS, THERE COULD BE NOTHING FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH. WHAT THE MEMBER MAY BE INDICATING WAS THAT A COMPETITOR OFFERED THEM AN UPGRADE ON A PRODUCT OF SOME SORT, BUT WE WILL NOT TAKE SHORT CUTS AND WE WILL NOT USE INFERIOR PRODUCTS - WE DON'T WANT THE WARRANTY HEADACHES THAT MIGHT FOLLOW. BY THE WAY, ONE OTHER COMMENT ON PRICE. ONE THING WE CAN ASSURE YOU WILL GET FROM US... THE REALISTIC PRICE. WE HATE GIVING CHANGE ORDERS BECAUSE WE WORRY ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP WE HAVE WITH OUR CLIENTS. IT IS VERY EASY TO LOW BALL AN ESTIMATE UP FRONT - CUT ALLOWANCES IN HALF TO DROP YOUR INITIAL PRICE - THEN TELL A CLIENT, "OH SORRY, THIS NOW COSTS MORE AND THAT NOW COSTS MORE." WE WILL NOT DO THAT. ALL WE ASK IS THAT YOU GIVE US A CHANCE AND DECIDE FOR YOURSELF. WE HAVE COMPLETED OVER 2,000 PROJECTS FOR ABOUT 1,000 CLIENTS IN THE LAST 10 YEARS. A LOT OF PEOPLE THINK VERY, VERY HIGHLY OF US!

A COUPLE OF QUICK COMMENTS IN RESPONSE TO THE REPORT PROVIDED. FIRST, THE ONLY REASON THE PROJECT COST MORE THAN THE ESTIMATE WAS THE CLIENT INITIATED 4 CHANGE ORDERS FOR ADDITIONAL WORK THAT FELL IN AREAS OUTSIDE OUR BATHROOM PROJECT AREA. NOT A BIG DEAL TO US, BUT WE CRINGE WITH THE THOUGHT THAT YOU MIGHT THINK WE GIVE A LOW BALL PRICE AND THEN ADD CHANGE ORDERS TO CLIENTS... WE DON'T DO THAT! SECOND, THE CLIENT EXPRESSED A CONCERN WITH COMMUNICATION. SHE UTILIZED OUR WEB-BASED COMMUNICATION SYSTEM DAILY, BUT IN TRUTH, SHE DID NOT CHECK THE SCHEDULE CALENDAR ON THE WEBSITE. THEREFORE, THERE WERE A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS WHERE WE CAME TO DO OUR WORK AND SHE CALLED THE OFFICE SCREAMING BECAUSE SHE STATED SHE DID NOT KNOW WE WERE COMING - YET IT WAS POSTED ON THE SCHEDULE CALENDAR ON THE WEBSITE. WE CAME TO KNOW SHE WAS CONCERNED ABOUT PUTTING HER PUPPIES AWAY IN A PARTICULAR PLACE IN THE HOUSE, SO AS THE PROJECT PROGRESSED AND WE FIGURED OUT SHE NEEDED A LITTLE MORE HAND HOLDING AND WE BEGAN TO SEND A SPECIAL E-MAIL TO HER THAT WOULD ELIMINATE THE CONCERN OF HER NOT ACTUALLY CHECKING THE SCHEDULE WE UPDATE ONLINE. FROM THAT POINT, THINGS WERE FINE - EXCEPT HER FINAL EVALUATION OF OUR EFFORTS. WE DON'T LIKE ANYTHING LESS THAN AN A GRADE, SO WE ARE DISAPPOINTED WITH HER COMMENTS. I HAVE CUT AND PASTED A COUPLE OF WRITTEN EXCHANGES THAT TOOK PLACE ON OUR ONLINE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM SO YOU CAN SEE THE LEVEL OF DETAIL THAT KIERSTEN SHARES WITH OUR CLIENTS TO KEEP THEM INFORMED. FIRST, A NOTE FROM KIERSTEN FRI JAN 30 AT 9:54AM: DUE TO THE SNOW THIS WEEK, OUR CABINET MANUFACTURER IN MISSOURI HAS BEEN CLOSED THE LAST 4 DAYS, INCLUDING TODAY. I JUST SPOKE WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY ARE PLANNING TO LOAD YOUR CABINETS ON THE TRUCK ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 9TH. WE ARE THE 5TH STOP, WHICH MEANS THAT WE SHOULD RECEIVE THE CABINETS ON WEDNESDAY OR THURSDAY MORNING. I APOLOGIZE FOR THE DELAY THIS HAS CAUSED. WE ARE PLANNING TO COMPLETE PAINT TOUCH-UPS AFTER WE SET THE CABINETS AND COUNTERTOPS, BUT SHOULD HAVE ALL THE TRIM THAT WE CAN COMPLETE DONE IN THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS. PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL WITH ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS. THANKS SO MUCH! WE ARE ALMOST THERE. THANKS, KIERSTEN. THE RESPONSE FROM THE CLIENT DATED FRI, JAN 30 AT 11:43AM - KIERSTEN, THIS IS DISAPPOINTING BUT THERE IS NOT MUCH WE CAN DO ABOUT IT. COULD YOU SEND ME A REVISED TENTATIVE SCHEDULE BASED ON WHAT YOU KNOW NOW? THANKS. THE RESPONSE POSTED BY KIERSTEN FRI, JAN 30 AT 12:06PM: I HAVE ALREADY POSTED IT TO THE WEBSITE FOR YOU TO SEE. PLEASE START LOOKING AROUND TOWARDS THE END OF NEXT WEEK AND MAKE A LIST OF ANY ITEMS THAT YOU SEE, KEEPING IN MIND THAT WE KNOW THERE ARE SOME PAINT TOUCH-UPS ALREADY AND JUST PLAN FOR US TO DO THEM ALL AT ONCE AFTER CABINETS/COUNTERTOPS COMPLETE. MIKE HUGHES WILL PROBABLY BE THERE SOMETIME NEXT WEEK TO FINISH THE ELECTRICAL, AS OPPOSED TO MY ORIGINAL ESTIMATION OF THE FOLLOWING WEEK. I DO NOT HAVE THIS DATE CONFIRMED, SO I HAVE NOT CHANGED IT ON THE SCHEDULE YET. I DID DISCUSS THE POSSIBILITY OF HAVING THE CABINETRY FREIGHTED VIA FEDEX, BUT IT WOULD NOT GET HERE ANY SOONER AND WOULD COST AN EXTRA $300-400. I DID TRY! THANKS, KIERSTEN. IN SUMMARY: WE WORK REALLY HARD TO TAKE GREAT CARE OF EACH AND EVERY CLIENT. WE ARE HONEST, HAVE A GREAT STAFF THAT DID A REALLY NICE JOB ON THIS PROJECT AS EVIDENCED BY HER COMPLIMENTARY COMMENTS ABOUT THE WORK DONE. WE ARE NOT PERFECT, BUT WE KEEP TRYING! REMODELING IS A TOUGH PROCESS TO LIVE THROUGH, SO SOMETIMES THE FRUSTRATIONS HAVE TO DO WITH THE STRESS OF THE HOUSE BEING IN TURMOIL. WE ALWAYS TRY TO HELP MINIMIZE THE IMPACT HOWEVER WE CAN. IN MOST EVERY PROJECT, WE COME IN, PLACE A LOCKBOX ON THE FRONT DOOR AND OUR STAFF GOES ABOUT THEIR WORK IN A VERY PROFESSIONAL MANNER. THIS CLIENT FELT THE NEED TO BE THERE ALL THE TIME... AND THAT IS 100% OKAY WITH US, BUT IT PROVIDED CHALLENGES WHEN IT DID NOT MEET HER SCHEDULE. SHE BECAME VERY UPSET THAT THE ELECTRICIAN CAME TO HANG HER LIGHTS AT A TIME WHEN SHE WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HOME. THOSE THINGS ARE TOUGHER FOR US TO WORK WITH WHEN WE HAVE A JOB TO GET DONE AND EVERYONE IS TRYING TO WORK EFFICIENTLY IN THIS CHALLENGING ECONOMY. PEOPLE HIRE LIFESTYLE BECAUSE WE CAN BE TRUSTED TO COME IN AND DO YOUR PROJECT WITHOUT THE NEED FOR YOU TO BABYSIT US. THIS CLIENT DIDN'T TRUST US AND THAT CREATES CHALLENGES. BY THE WAY, OUR CLIENTS ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE ONLINE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM WE HAVE IN PLACE!

Everything went well. We just decided on another contractor.
Description of Work: We wanted to convert our open bonus room into a bedroom by installing a closet, a wall, and a door. Ryan Horen came out and worked out an estimate for me. He was very professional and explained many things to me about the job; however, we did decide to go with another contractor whose price was much lower.

We love it! We first talked with Ryan Horen in early August about what we liked and didn't like in our existing kitchen and bath, and what we wanted to include in a new space. Based on our discussion and his measurements, a draft design was drawn up for both spaces. We signed the contract in late August and cabinets were ordered. Work was scheduled to begin the week of 10/13 and be completed by the week of 12/8; all dates were met (work began 10/13 and was completed 12/3). Lifestyle offers a one-stop shop for all selections - cabinets, countertops, flooring, tile, fixtures, etc. - all very high quality, within their office. We preferred this to running around to many vendors trying to make selections. Lifestyle also gives the customer online access to the project, so you can view upcoming work at your convenience; it also gives you the ability to contact Lifestyle, the plumbing and electrical subs at any time day or night. Any contact with Lifestyle was always promptly returned, whether by phone or email. The work crew was really nice, they did their best to minimize disruption for us, they cleaned up at the end of each work day. The quality of their workmanship was excellent; if it didn't look 'right' to them, they redid it until it looked great. Kiersten (project manager) and Ron (construction manager) visited the worksite several times through the process to make sure all work continued to be high quality. Kiersten also looked out for our best interests; we selected a darker granite than originally planned, which would have made our original backsplash tile not look very good. Kiersten asked us to revisit the tile selection, just to make sure we would be happy. We ended up changing the tile to better coordinate with the granite. We're very happy with the outcome. If we had small items to be completed, we only had to ask the crew; these were promptly addressed. All items (big or small) that were to be done according to the contract (and some that weren't in the contract) were completed. Overall, we are thrilled with the outcome. We love our new kitchen and bath. The quality of the materials and workmanship is very high. We would highly recommend Lifestyle Group to anyone wanting a good company, friendly, caring staff, and a quality result.
Description of Work: Lifestyle did a kitchen remodel (cabinets, granite countertop, floor, new lighting, backsplash - everything but the appliances) and a master bath remodel (new vanity, countertop, sinks, replaced the existing fiberglass tub/shower with a tile walk-in shower, new tile floors, and arranged for installation of a glass block window in the shower).

The process was great from the beginning. We were referred to this company and were aware of the quality of work they provided from the start. They were very good to work with and solved problems that maximized our living space in the addition. Their online communication system was fantastic so we always knew what was going on. Also, one of the nicest things about this company in retrospect is that it wasn't just one person who knew about our project, there were several people in the company familiar with it and could help get a quick answer to any question we had. If you are looking for a professional company that makes you feel like you are the only customer this is definitely the partner for you. And by the way, they were very competitively priced, so in comparison to others it was not difficult to select this company.

Project went very well. I called and promptly received a call back from Ryan to set up a time to take a look at my project. I met with them in their office for the second visit and was presented with a price. I made selections and the price was adjusted accordingly. I was very comfortable with them and I signed a contract that day. The job was scheduled for 4 weeks after I signed contract and they were prompt in coming in and replacing the flooring and the doors. I am very happy with the quality of work and they exceeded my expectations.

We wanted to finish our unfinished basement with LifeStyle Group after having such a positive experience with their work on our patio room. We worked with Kiersten Morton on the design, cost estimate, and selections of every detail of the 1,700 sq. ft. of space. Our design included a 300 sq. ft. craft room with a 160 sq. ft. walk in closet, an equal size office (with a closed in file cabinet space), a walk in pantry, a media/family room, and an oversized bathroom. Based on our work with Kiersten, the team of men worked in our home for about 3 months - almost on a daily basis. Kiersten kept us posted using an RSS feed for the company with milestones, a calendar of scheduled events, and weekly updates. While different teams of men worked in our home across the project (framing, electrical, drywall, flooring, painting, closet cabinets, etc.), each team was timely, professional, and "invisible" in the home. They took every precaution to keep the noise, dust, and traffic in and out of our home to a minimum. They also were very respectful in response to our questions. In every way, LifeStyle Group exceeded our expectations and the finished product looks better than we even imagined it. The custom pantry is the room we and others rave about. LifeStyle Group doesn't just get the job done: they exceed expectations in their attention to quality and detail. We couldn't be happier with the quality, price, and timeline for completing the project. We would recommend this company to anyone, but especially to women you have to trust a company to do things they wouldn't know how to supervise on their own. Lifestyle Group began to earn our trust with our first meeting, and the great thing is that we haven't been disappointed anywhere along the way.

We wanted a patio room to extend off of our existing sunroom for our new paver patio, which is about 945 square feet. We wanted it to protect our dog from the bad weather year round and also to provide us a place to enjoy summer evenings without worrying about mosquitoes. Kiersten Morton of Lifestyle Group listened to what wanted, gave us an estimate for the job, and had the project done in the given time estimate. The quality and craftsmanship of their team's work exceeded expectations in every way. The team was professional, on time, cleaned up daily, attended to every detail of quality, and communicated with us regularly on each phase of the process. The patio room addition not only matches the quality of the home itself, but even improved the backyard view of the house. We have worked with many remodeling teams on our last home. We dreaded getting involved in a building/remodeling project again. Lifestyle Group made this experience totally positive! We liked the way they worked so much we had them finish our basement too - and we're delighted we did. I would recommend Lifestyle Group to anyone, but especially women looking for honest, direct, high quality, professional, and respectful contractors.

The 4-6 week time line extended to 14 weeks, start to finish. Though we are happy with the finished product, we paid a high price expecting a 6-8 week completion. The Lifestyle Group has a very useful website tool for communicating with them; however, the burden to use it falls to the client and they are very slow to respond. This provider responded to our review with inaccuracies and outright lies. Though we were very disappointed with parts of their service, we were very honest about the positives, as well as the negatives. They were not - their response is as inaccurate as their delivery promises.

UNFORTUNATELY, AS HARD AS WE TRY, WE JUST CANNOT MAKE EVERYBODY HAPPY. FORTUNATELY, ANGIE'S LIST ALLOWS US TO RESPOND AS THERE ARE TWO SIDES TO EVERY STORY. WHAT THE CLIENT DID NOT SAY WAS THAT THE CONTRACT TIMELINE CALLED FOR A 9 WEEK PROJECT, NOT 4-6. WE'D NEVER TELL A CLIENT THAT A PROJECT OF THIS SCOPE WOULD TAKE ONLY 4-6 WEEKS AS IT ESSENTIALLY WAS A WHOLE HOUSE REMODEL. THERE WERE A TOTAL OF 17 CHANGE ORDERS ON THIS PROJECT, 10 OF WHICH ADDED MORE WORK TO THE PROJECT PER CLIENT REQUEST. HOWEVER, THIS CLIENT CONTINUALLY FAILED TO UNDERSTAND THAT THIS EXTRA WORK REQUIRED ADDITIONAL TIME FOR ORDERING AND ADDITIONAL TIME TO COMPLETE THE WORK REQUESTED. WE KNOW REMODELING IS A VERY DIFFICULT PROCESS TO LIVE THROUGH, BUT READING THE REPORTS ON THIS WEBSITE, YOU WILL SEE MANY COMMENTS ABOUT OUR CLEAN JOB SITES AND GREAT COMMUNICATION. WE ALL KNOW THERE ARE BAD CONTRACTORS OUT THERE. YOUR PURPOSE OF INVESTIGATING THIS WEBSITE IS TO AVOID SUCH CONTRACTORS. WELL, UNFORTUNATELY, THERE ARE CHALLENGING CLIENTS AS WELL. CLIENTS WHO REFUSE TO MAKE SELECTIONS IN A TIMELY MANNER, WHICH CREATE DELAYS. THIS CLIENT WAS STILL MAKING SELECTIONS ON CHANGE ORDER REQUESTS BEYOND THE DATES THEY EXPECTED US TO COMPLETE THE PROJECT. WE WERE ASKED TO DELAY A BACKSPLASH TILE SELECTION BY THE CLIENT UNTIL THE COUNTERTOPS WERE INSTALLED SO THEY COULD SEE THE COUNTERTOPS, BUT THEN THEY BECAME EXTREMELY UPSET ABOUT PROJECT DELAYS. NORMALLY, WE WOULD HAVE STARTED THE TILE WORK THE DAY AFTER THE TOPS WERE INSTALLED, BUT WE COULD NOT. THEY ADDED A DECORATIVE ELEMENT OF CABINETRY AFTER THE FIRST 6 WEEKS OF THE PROJECT - ANOTHER ONE OF THE CHANGE ORDERS NOTED. THE MATERIAL TOOK US 3 WEEKS TO GET IN OUR HANDS. WE WERE NEVER ABLE TO GET THEM TO HAVE REASONABLE EXPECTATIONS. WE WANT TO BE CLEAR THAT WE ARE NOT PERFECT AND WE DO MAKE MISTAKES, BUT WE ARE EXPERTS IN OUR INDUSTRY AND WHEN WE MAKE THEM WE WILL TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY! ON THIS PROJECT, WE HAD AN OVERSIGHT EARLY IN THE PROCESS ON OUR END AND FORGOT TO ORDER AND INSTALL THE IN-FLOOR HEATING ELECTRIC MESH IN THE BATHROOM FLOOR. WE DID NOT MAKE THAT THE CLIENT'S PROBLEM. IT WAS OUR FAULT - 100% - SO WE TORE OUT THE TILE WE HAD JUST LAID THAT DAY AND HAD THE IN-FLOOR HEAT MATERIALS OVERNIGHTED TO US AT A SHIPPING COST OF $150 SO WE COULD HAVE IT THE NEXT DAY AND CONTINUE PROGRESS. THAT IS HOW MUCH WE CARE ABOUT KEEPING OUR WORK ON SCHEDULE. WE CERTAINLY COULD HAVE TOLD THE CLIENT THAT IT WAS A ONE OR TWO WEEK LEAD TIME AND ELIMINATED ANY SHIPPING COSTS AS OUR SUPPLIER WOULD HAVE GLADLY RECEIVED IT AND BROUGHT IT TO US UNDER NORMAL DELIVERY CONDITIONS, BUT THAT WAS NOT HOW WE WANTED TO SERVICE OUR CLIENT. WE HAD STAFF ON SITE AT THAT PROJECT EVERY SINGLE DAY BUT 2 DAYS (RELATED TO ILLNESS). MOST CLIENTS ARE THRILLED WITH THIS LEVEL OF DEDICATION, BUT NOT THESE FOLKS. ONE FINAL EXAMPLE OF THE TYPE OF CLIENT WE ARE SPEAKING OF. TELL ME IF ANY OF YOU WOULD EVER THROW ALL OF YOUR DIRTY CLOTHES AND SHOES ON THE FLOOR AND LEAVE EVERYTHING LAYING ON PURPOSE WHEN YOU KNEW ALL OF YOUR CARPET WAS BEING REPLACED THE NEXT DAY? WE HAVE NEVER HAD A CLIENT ACT IN SUCH A RUDE MANNER IN OUR NEARLY 10 YEARS IN BUSINESS. OUR RESPONSE AT THE TIME: WE DID NOT SAY A WORD. WE INSTRUCTED OUR CARPET INSTALLER TO DO WHATEVER HE NEEDED TO IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE PROJECT IN THE SAME PROFESSIONAL MANNER WE WOULD FOR ANY CLIENT. WE DIDN'T TELL HIM TO LEAVE THE PROJECT AS MOST CONTRACTORS WOULD. THEN, WE PAID HIM AN ADDITIONAL $250 FOR HIS TIME DEALING WITH THEIR DIRTY CLOTHES AND SHOES...A CHARGE WE DID NOT PASS ALONG TO THE CLIENT. IN A FOLLOW UP CONVERSATION, DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS CLIENT SAID? SHE DID IT ON PURPOSE. WE HOPE YOU CAN REVIEW OUR ENTIRE RECORD FOR WHAT CLIENTS REALLY THINK OF US AND GIVE THIS THE LEVEL OF CREDIBILITY IT DESERVES. ONE FINAL COMMENT IF WE MAY - THIS IS NOT A STATEMENT OF ARROGANCE IN ANYWAY, BUT YOU WILL NOT FIND A MORE CARING PARTNER TO WORK WITH ON A REMODELING PROJECT. WE TAKE GREAT PRIDE IN WHAT WE DO AND THE TOOLS WE HAVE WITH WEB-BASED COMMUNICATION ARE TO ENHANCE THE CLIENT EXPERIENCE AND MAKE THEM FEEL LIKE THEY ARE CONNECTED 24/7. WE GET NOTHING BUT RAVE REVIEWS ABOUT THE TOOL AND OUR LEVEL OF SERVICE. WE TAKE OFFENSE TO THE COMMENTS THIS CLIENT HAS POSTED BECAUSE WE CARE ABOUT WHAT PEOPLE THINK OF US. WE AREN'T LOOKING FOR THE NEXT SUCKER. WE WANT TO CREATE LIFELONG RELATIONSHIPS. THESE EFFORTS AND THIS APPROACH HAS EARNED US SUPER SERVICE AWARDS EVERY YEAR SINCE 1999!

I am very disappointed considering their rating on the List.
Description of Work: I contacted this company because of their excellent rating on the List. I called the Tuesday morning after Labor Day and the woman I spoke with was friendly. I told her we were interested in doing a room addition and kitchen remodel. She took my information and said Ryan would get back with me. I asked her specifically if he was available the following Monday as my husband was off work that day. She checked and said it looked like he was but she wouldn't know for sure until she spoke to him. I said that was fine. Ryan called me on my cell phone Thursday morning. I didn't get the message until that night, when it occurred to me that I should check my cell phone to see if he had called that number rather than my home number. I returned his call Friday morning and have never heard back from him.

Response from Lifestyle Group Residential Remodeling
WE APOLOGIZE TO THIS MEMBER FOR FRUSTRATION ABOUT OUR JOINT EFFORTS TO SPEAK DIRECTLY REGARDING HER PROJECT. IT WAS A PROJECT WE WERE VERY INTERESTED IN, THUS WE MADE CONTINUED EFFORTS TO SPEAK TO THIS CLIENT. THERE ARE MANY TIMES WHEN A PROCESS OF "PHONE TAG" SEEMS TO TAKE PLACE AS OUR POTENTIAL CLIENTS LEAD BUSY LIVES, HOWEVER, WE CALL PEOPLE BACK AND THAT IS A DIFFERENTIATOR IN OUR BUSINESS - THUS LEADING TO OUR STRONG RECORD WITH ANGIE'S LIST AND VERY HIGH REFERRAL RATE. OUR RECORD-KEEPING IS VERY SPECIFIC AND WHERE THIS MEMBER SAYS THEY RETURNED A CALL AND NEVER RECEIVED ONE BACK, OUR RECORDS SHOW WE DID INDEED PLACE ANOTHER CALL BACK TO THE CLIENT AT 4:11PM ON 9/15/08 AND LEFT A MESSAGE AT THE HOME NUMBER PROVIDED, THEN WE FOLLOWED UP YET AGAIN LAST WEEK. IT IS UNFORTUNATE FROM OUR PERSPECTIVE THAT WE NEVER MADE THE CONNECTION TO SPEAK WITH THE CLIENT BECAUSE WE WOULD HAVE LOVED TO MEET WITH THIS MEMBER ABOUT THEIR PROJECT... STILL WOULD ACTUALLY. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN OFTEN, BUT ON OCCASION SOMEONE WILL CALL AND SAY YOU NEVER CALLED ME BACK. THEN, WE TELL THEM THE EXACT TIME AND DATE WE CALLED. IT HAPPENED JUST LAST WEEK WITH A POTENTIAL CLIENT WHO WAS MAD WE FOLLOWED UP WITH HER, BUT SHE SAID WE NEVER CALLED HER BACK IN THE FIRST PLACE SO WHY WOULD WE FOLLOW UP. WE TOLD HER WHEN WE CALLED AND THAT WE SPOKE WITH A YOUNG GIRL WHO TOOK A MESSAGE. SHE SAID NO WE DIDN'T, THEN CALLED BACK 5 MINUTES LATER AND APOLOGIZED BECAUSE SHE CONFIRMED WE DID AND IT WAS HER BABYSITTER WHO DID NOT GIVE HER THE MESSAGE. WE ARE REALLY NICE PEOPLE, SO IF YOU THINK WE DIDN'T CALL YOU BACK, JUST CALL THE OFFICE AND CHECK AND SEE. WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR OPPORTUNITIES TO WORK WITH NICE PEOPLE!

It went very well. Everything they did was exactly the way they said it would be. It took about four days to do the work. They matched the siding exactly. They have a warranty on their work.
Description of Work: They replaced all of the siding on the front of our two story four bedroom home.

This company is exceptional in every way. They were professional, punctual, and efficient. They started on the day that was promised, and were on the job continuously without one down day until the job was completed. They keep you totally informed of the scheduled work via their interactive project management website. They have excellent relationships with contractors and suppliers. They are not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for.

Overall it went well. They were very professional and did what they said they would do. It took a little longer than expected to get shower door in because of an ordering issue, but everything else was done on-time. It took about 3-4 weeks to get it all done.
Description of Work: They put a bathroom and a bedroom in the basement. They ripped out old carpet and replaced it with new.
