There were no problems with the "tear out" phase. Every effort was made to minimize any negative features that are inherent in this phase. The work was done both efficiently and quickly.
Staff from the Lifestyle Group completed their work very satisfactorily. All of the work of the Lifestyle Group Staff was done to the extent possible within the schedule developed for the project. The schedule and any revisions were available to us at all times through a website set up specifically for this project (through Basecamp). The quality of the work met our standards which are very high.
The only problems which we had through the entire project were with the electrical work. Sadly, there were multiple problems in the electrical work which resulted in substantial inconvenience both as the project was being completed and as we began to use the newly-remodeled kitchen. The only positive dimension to these electrical problems was the responsiveness of the Lifestyle Group as these problems were brought to their attention.
Apart from the electrical work, all of the subcontracted work was completed consistently with both the standards of the Lifestyle Group and our standards.
Lifestyle Group utilizes an interactive website for all communications between the customer and main office once a contract has been signed. This minimizes misunderstandings that might occur with telephone calls and exchanged voice-mail messages. This tool also protects the contractor AND the consumer from project scope-creep and surprises of additional costs at project-end.
"So often, when we reply to a member report, we do so to defend ourselves and dispute the facts outlined. In this case, we are going to be honest enough to say we aren't perfect and we had a couple of problems on this project that were our responsibility. There was an issue with a leaking toilet seal and it did leak onto the kitchen ceiling. I'm not sure we have had that happen 3 times in 13 years, but it happened here. So, what did we do? We fixed it... and we didn't turn a problem we created into the client's problem. Also, it is true that we had a grout issue we have never seen in over 13 years in business... and we spent weeks trying to identify what the appropriate fix might be. For some reason, there were dark spots that popped up in the grout. We do tile work almost every single day and we've never seen it. It wasn't mold or mildew, but something was causing it. We don't know if we had a bad batch of grout or a bad batch of sealer, but something clearly wasn't right. In the end, we did what a good company would do... we took the grout out and installed new to make it right for the client. Most companies would have found any way not to do that, but we aren't most companies. Did we make a mistake during the grout installation? I don't believe so as we followed the same process we always do, but we could not reasonably say the client did something wrong, so we took responsibility and fixed it. As far as the mess, to be perfectly honest, reading that we left a mess in this report is the first anyone in our company has heard of leaving a mess here. We don't do that. Would taking out that grout in and of itself be a messy, dusty process? Yes, it could be. It is no fun at all. And, add to that the fact we were working in a very small 5x8 bathroom space directly off the bedroom, so I could certainly see how dust would be created and I want to apologize to the client for any dust created. We absolutely pride ourselves on our cleanliness of job sites, so this is piece that most concerned me when reading the report. Again, we tear out everyday and we do NOT leave messes in your homes. It goes against everything we are about. Will a thin layer of dust find its way through your home at the demolition and drywall phases of every project? Yes. It happens regardless of the precautions we take, but we take steps to minimize it to the best of our ability. In conclusion, we are thrilled this client likes us enough that we will be doing their kitchen and living room projects. That is important that anyone reading this report takes away. As I said earlier, we aren't perfect and we will make mistakes, but this client clearly acknowledges that we really do care and we will make something right if it is our fault. There will never be a question about that sincerity in our approach. Having said that, I will tell you we hate receiving "B" grades. Maybe earning a "B" is pretty good in school and getting "B's" will even get you into college, but to our company they might as well be receiving an "F". We are better than that and hope to earn all "A's" for this client on the next project."
They began in late February and finished mid April 2012 . Completion was a bit beyond projected end date due to fine tuning the drain and bathroom mirror and lighting - to meet their quality control standards.
We initially selected Lifestyle group to help give us some design ideas of what potential our unfinished basement held, and how to make the space more liveable in light of low ceilings and odd angles and all the things that give an older home character. From the very first meeting, Geoff and Kiersten listened openly to our ideas of what we envisioned the space to become, with some very specific design elements we wanted to see included.
After a couple weeks, they presented us with the plans for our new basement, incorporating every design element we had hoped for. No doubt, this required some creative planning on their part to be sure to include the things that were important to us in the space that was provided. Their flexibility and attention to detail in the design stage of the project was the primary reason we selected Lifestyle for the project.
Once work started, the Lifestyle construction crew was in our home almost daily for nearly two months. Courteous, friendly and professional, they made every effort to make a minimal impact on our daily routine. Each day, the jobsite was left in clean condition to minimize the dust and debris.
Throughout the entire construction process, communication was excellent. We always knew what was being done that day or week, and when conflicts arose, Kiersten was always quick with a phone call or email to let us know what was going on. When we had questions or change requests, someone was often on site the same day to evaluate and provide feedback immediately.
We couldn't be happier with the entire experience and the result of working with Lifestyle Group. They are a family owned and operated business that has all the professionalism you could ask for, but the personalized approach to customer service that sets them apart.
Thank you to their entire team for the hard work and care of craftsmanship they put into our home!
Will be using them in the future for further home improvement projects.
We very much appreciated the help with selection of the materials for the project. The one-stop shopping for materials was very convenient. We have received many compliments on the selection of colors in the kitchen and family room.
All of the workmen were top notch. They were punctual, courteous and did top quality work. We could not have been more pleased with the outcome of the project. We will definitely use Lifestyle Group again for future remodeling projects.
