"We wish this member the best of luck in the completion of his basement project for the costs that he was quoting. While the costs he is suggesting are simply unrealistic, he was a very nice man and he told us he planned to do the project himself. The fact that he pulled the permit himself is an indication of his approach. We simply gave him our project price to help him understand the scope of what he was getting into. We understand that clients have different budgets for their projects. Sometimes, we simply cannot meet their goals and that is okay. We try to do our best to help give good information and when a member uses us, we make every effort to deliver an outstanding project and an equally outstanding experience!"
"We've done this for 17 years and with over 600 reports, it seems like about once every 2 years or so we get a report that comes from so far out of left field that we don't even know quite how to respond. This member says we didn't respond on May 5th, but we aren't sure what we were responding to. We can tell you that we had a great first visit with the client at her home. She brought her creative son in for the second visit at the office and quite honestly, it went so well that they stayed and she started making all of her selections. On her way out the door, she did mentioned that she was going to go home and tell her husband what they had chosen... and she did mention a trip to Houston and tying the work to the time she would be away, then that was the last we heard... until this review. Ugh! It is awfully ironic that everything went so well and all of the sudden we became terrible and it was a total waste of her money. We aren't sure how to reasonably process that, but I can tell you it is a big red flag to us in terms of it being a client we would want to work with. You can be sure we will do what any good company would do... which is to reach out to the client and try to identify what email we missed on or around May 5th! Have you noticed that a lot of people simply are not very nice anymore? We want to work with reasonable people. To us, reasonable would have been one additional polite follow up to make sure we got what you sent. Not 3 follow ups or 5 follow ups... just one. We apologize to the member publicly and will make personal contact to be sure the member knows."
"In the most polite way we can say this, we think this member is totally confused. First of all, Stephanie went to his home... so we didn't send a guy as he referenced. Second, his project was a bit of a mess based on some poor work completed by a family member, so we definitely remember it. Finally, and most importantly as it relates to his review of our company, the day he was scheduled to come in to go through the details of the project as part of the Big Deal purchase was April 7th at 9:00am. He called at 8:07am on that day and told us he was sick and could not come in. Becky asked if he would like to reschedule and he asked if he could call back to do that. She said, "of course". And, now, fast forward to today where we are replying to this review. He never called us back to reschedule. And, we know it might be a bit hard to believe, but that is a fairly common occurrence for someone not to call back, so we rather numb to it. We are, however, a bit offended that he submitted this negative report after not remembering who came to his house and after he cancelled the visit less than an hour before we were to meet, especially given the fact we had done a great deal of work to prepare for that meeting. We hope you understand on the client side that these projects for us are not minor investments of time. We allocated more than 8 hours to his project and this report is the result of all of that effort. We politely explain to people that we pick you as much as you pick us, but the purchase of the Big Deal by a member is the one place that doesn't apply. If you purchase a Big Deal or Storefront offer, we are 100% doing that work for you because that is what we committed to doing for Angie's List members. So, please understand that we would have loved to have had him call back and set up a time to review the details of the work we completed on his behalf. Thank you for reading our response!"
