It went very well. Mr. Horen was very professional in his interactions, timely and accommodating. He followed through with his planning in the manner we had discussed and was very willing to accommodate our wishes in the planning and cost estimates. We look forward to working with him in the future.
Description of Work: Mr. Horen provided an on-site discussion of options for a bathroom remodel and expansion in conjunction with a 4-seasons room addition. Followed by a meeting at the Lifestyle showroom where plans were reviewed and further discussion held regarding plans and financial estimate.

The Lifestyle Group owner was very responsive and professional when I called to schedule a meeting for the Angie's List Deal I had purchased, which was for a set of blueprints and estimate for a bathroom remodeling project. He scheduled an appointment to come to my house to see the bathroom and arrived exactly on time. I explained that I was interested in remodeling both bathrooms, so he kindly agreed look at, take measurements and give estimates for both of them. He was at my house for about an hour, then we scheduled a follow-up meeting about one week later at the business location to look at materials. When I arrived, he explained the different types/grades of materials available for flooring and counter, then he provided me with hard-copy estimates for both bathrooms. The estimates did not include any remodeling/construction (i.e. no blueprints) and were limited to replacement with low-to-mid grade level flooring for both bathrooms and counter for only one bathroom; the total estimate was $17,000+. I received estimates from other contractors that ranged from $7,500-$14,000 for similar or higher grade materials that also included interior painting. I appreciated the responsiveness of the Lifestyle Group owner and believe they likely do high-quality work based on other Angie's List customer ratings; however the estimate he provided for my project showed lackluster creativity/effort and was excessively high.
Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's Deal for a set of blueprints to remodel a bathroom. Lifestyle Group owner came to my house and took measurements, then I went to the business location to look at materials. I received an estimate but not a set of blueprints for the job.

Response from Lifestyle Group Residential Remodeling
With all due respect to this member, there was nothing changing in the floor plan to create any need for blueprints or drawings. She simply asked for new countertops, faucets, shower doors and new tile in the shower. That was the entire project. Now, it was invasive and there was quite a bit of tile work she wanted, but literally not one change in a design element. Everything stayed in its current place. However, while I was there at the home, she asked me to look at another bathroom. Since we did not have any design work to complete, in addition to pricing the original bathroom project, I also completed that pricing and helped her understand all of her options for another bathroom, which again was only changing the countertop, faucet and flooring. I did not tell her she needed to purchase another bathroom offer. I simply tried to help her. If you are a member who happens to be reading this report prior to purchasing a storefront offer, please understand that once you purchase it from Angie's List, we will come out and tell you everything we can to help you. We will invest significant time in the first visit to your home, followed by the second visit at our office and all the time in between where we price the project and often will complete 3-D designs, BUT... and this is very important... please understand if you are not changing any element of the design in terms of locations where things reside, there is no need to create drawings or blueprints. Those are used to help visualize changes a client will make to a space. We will price the project you request and share all of our expertise about product options and price points... and we will invest our time in an effort to both educate you and earn your business. On occasion, we get a negative grade from a member because we didn't do blueprints, but they didn't change anything that they had in place, nor did they call us ahead of time prior to purchasing the Angie's List offer. We just wanted to use this opportunity to clarify our approach in these situations. Thanks for your consideration.

They were very knowledgeable and friendly to work with. Despite having made an alteration to our original plans for the basement their alteration proved to be more to my wife's liking. Unfortunately their estimate was more than double any other contractor who bid for the work gave. Even with improved materials we could not justify the additional cost and selected another provider.
Description of Work: Lifestyle group sent a representative who talked with us about finishing our basement, what we wanted, took measurements, and drew up plans and an estimate for their vision of what we'd asked for. We later met with them in their showroom to go over the design drawing, the estimate, the materials available and cost changes selecting them would mean, etc.

Geoff came in, reviewed both rooms I wanted remodeled, listened to my ideas then took everything back to his office. One week later My husband and I went to his office for the floor-plan review. We were given everything and told to contact him should we want to go forward. We made a few changes to his design (added cabinets, switched cabinet purposes and locations, etc) but overall loved what he came up with and agreed to his contract. Work will start the last week of October so I will send another review after work is completed (approx 9 weeks). Some might say his designs are pricey but you are in control of the price range you want on materials (cabinets, counters, flooring, etc). He and his team were very professional and courteous. At this point I feel like I could not have found a better contractor than LifeStyle Group.

Geoff answered all our questions about his design concept and we discussed other options that we could incorporate should we decide to continue the project. He didn't rush us and was very professional. There was no pressure to purchase the services for the remodel, we left with the designs as promised in the Big Deal, and with a great feeling about Lifestyle Group. While we haven't decided to have the work done yet, we would certainly consider Lifestyle Group for the contractor.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal for a consultation and designs for a kitchen remodel. Geoff of Lifestyle Group arrived at my home on time, listened to our issues and concerns, and took measurements and pictures of our kitchen. We met at his office one week later and he had printed designs to show us and a complete cost estimate.

I perchased an Angies list deal to have a set of plans for a kitchen and bath remodel. Geoff was very easy to talk to and patient with my schedule. I was unable at the last minute to meet him at the agreed on time due to an emergency at work. I called and he was understanding about the delay. He took his time with me and listened to everything I wanted and he offered his opinion about what might work and what or why it might not be a good idea. At our second meeting today he had some fantastic ideas for the remodel. I loved the plans he came up with. I loved it that he has examples of options for material there to look at. He was truly very low pressure to hire him to do the remodel. He had pictures of his work readily available to see in relation to what I need. I am still gathering information and estimates, so like I told Geoff, I will definitely keep him in line to consider doing the job. Even if someone can do the job for a lower price (I don't have anything to compare it to yet) I liked him and his design enough to consider paying more for the job I want.

Geoff met with us at our home (September 6) so he could see the kitchen, talk with us about our preferences and what we hoped to accomplish with the remodel. He listened attentively, took notes and pictures, and talked us through some immediate recommendations at this first visit. We then met him a week later (September 13) as follow up to the earlier meeting, and here he presented his design in multiple printed layouts corresponding to the images he projected of our existing layout. He talked us through every choice he made and his reasons for doing so. Working with him during both visits was a complete pleasure. No hard pressure to act immediately, in fact, he reassured us to take the needed time to think through his designs and to use them as a starting point should we have questions or prefer to make adjustments. I came away feeling completely comfortable working with him, that he would manage the project with great care and professionalism. Once we talked through designs and ideas, he provided us with a cost break down, itemizing all aspects of the project. My experience with Geoff & his Lifestyle Group was exactly what I needed to better understand the various parts of this kitchen project -- what can be done within our small space and what must be done in order to remedy the current problems we are now facing with a very old and outdated kitchen.

Although they did a nice job of providing a kitchen remodel plan, the plan itself was too "generic", in the end we didn't see the value of doing all the work to just move appliances and put in new cabinets. We got a second plan from another design firm and we seemed to connect better and got a plan that encompassed all of our wants.

Blueprints were part of a "Big Deal". Mr. Horen came over and looked at our original kitchen, listened to what we were thinking and wanting, and then met with us later with a few detailed blueprints of what our new kitchen could look like. He presented different options with estimates for each. He went through some of the different materials, cabinets, flooring we could use. Mr. Horen is very detail oriented and we could tell he liked and was very good at what he does. We loved his plans but in shopping around Angie's list we found another contractor who was able to complete the job for less. We have to say assuming all the responsibility for picking out everything and trying to match colors was a lot of work and worry and Lifestyle would have done that for us.. It might be worth spending more money with Lifestyle and getting their expertise. We would use Lifestyle again for any remodeling plans.

For the $60.00, we got a visit to get pictures and measurements of the area, and then a consult with presentation of proposed floor plan with measurements and a price estimate of job costs. I hoped for a list of possible products/fixtures with cost estimates. I did get suggestions for types of tile, cabinet, and counter finishes that would be included in the supplied estimate. The designer was friendly and not pushy. It was a good value for the money.

Lifestyle contacted me the same day I purchased the "Big Deal" to schedule appointments. Geoff Horen, CEO of Lifestyle, visited our home to discuss our objectives for the project, and then met with us one week later at his office to discuss his proposal. Geoff was friendly, professional and knowledgeable in working with us. We especially liked his approach for providing middle-cost options and explaining where the variables were in his proposal. We never felt rushed in discussing options with Geoff, and he effectively took our vague ideas and created a clear plan that was consistent with our objectives. Everything promised in the "Big Deal" was delivered in a timely, professional manner. We are continuing to work with Geoff and Lifestyle to expand the proposal to our bathrooms and expect to move forward with the remodeling project with them.

Very professional. High quality. But I was a disappointed that their suggested design went well beyond the scope of what I asked for and didn't offer options that matched up with my requirements and, ultimately, my price range for the any remodel work. Also, the vendor never followed up with me following the presentation of the design to see if I was interested in proceeding with any of the work recommended. Months later, when I was ready to proceed, I used another vendor.

Response from Lifestyle Group Residential Remodeling
We appreciate this member's acknowledgement that we were professional and offered high quality work, but we wanted to take a moment to politely reply to this report from this client we visited 3 YEARS AGO. We aren't sure what prompted her to submit a report 3 years later aside from a gift card incentive offer from Angie's List (which we clearly are not fans of because it generates these type of older, factually inaccurate reports), but the member raised a couple of concerns that we will gladly address. First, we designed beyond her scope simply because we had to. She wanted to reuse some of her cabinets and yet, she wanted to redesign her kitchen. We couldn't reuse what she had and redesign the function of the space because she didn't have the proper cabinet sizes and proper cabinet parts to incorporate into a new design. That is actually a common problem we run into when someone wants to reuse cabinets... either the sizes of what they currently have won't work or we simply can't match what they had. Her second concern was related to our not contacting her in the months to follow. This is really a tough one to address when a client says they wish we would have continued to bother them months later, but let us tell you our sales approach. We are not high pressure. We WILL NOT sit at your table for hours on end and refuse to leave until you sign a contract. Quite the opposite, we pride ourselves on being extremely low pressure. So, after a first visit to your home and the second visit you make to our office where we review the design and project pricing in great detail, we believe that you as the consumer have a very good impression of our ability to be the right partner for your project. We explain that to every client. This is exactly what we tell people... "If you think we are the right partner, whether that be next week or next month or next year... let us know if you have any questions or changes you would like to see made. We can often make these changes electronically and send them to you to save trips to our office or showroom." That consultative approach should make people feel very comfortable that we are not going to be that high pressure type of contractor that gives our industry a terrible reputation. So, it is our opinion that this client really never intended to use our services. If she did, she would have revisited the project with us on her own like thousands of other families have chosen to do. In the end, we want each of you to find the right partner. Sure, we want that partner to be The Lifestyle Group, but we understand sometimes it may not be your choice for whatever reason. That's okay. We just hope you will consider us during your contractor selection process and see what kind of partner we might potentially be for your family. Thank you for reading our response.

Response from Lifestyle Group Residential Remodeling
We appreciate the opportunity this member gave us through her purchase of the Angie's List Storefront offer and we are disappointed because she was very nice and we would have loved to have worked for her. We would like to briefly address a couple of the concerns she raised in her report. First, with regard to the $60 fee. The member purchased that Storefront offer from Angie's List prior to ever talking to us, but we'd like you to know that the $60 investment in this case resulted in our company investing between 7 and 8 hours of time visiting her home, telling her everything we could about her project onsite, coming back to the office and creating the bathroom design, as well as pricing the project, finally followed by an hour visit at our office discussing her project in great detail related to both design and price. We believe that value to greatly exceed the $60 cost (most of which by the way is retained by Angie's List). We have had hundreds of clients purchase the special Angie's List offers because members know there are other professional remodeling companies that charge $500-$750 for the same level of detail that we offer for $60. There are certainly contractors that offer "free estimates" and this member serves as a great example of what that gets you. She showed us exactly what information she received from the other contractors. There was no detail. No phase costs. So you understand, this member lives in a home valued at what we would guess to be $500,000 in the Geist area. She has a big, expensive home. Her neighbors have big, expensive homes. She shared with us she was moving in a few years, so she wanted to be careful about the investment she was making. That makes perfect sense to us and we advise people in that situation every day on how to effectively spend money in the right areas for resale, but on the flip side, there is probably a certain minimum standard she might need to meet given the price point of her home to prevent this bathroom from being an obstacle for resale. When one of the other contractors priced the most basic, standard tub in the market for her master bathroom in her 500k house (a tub you would find in a standard hall bathroom application in every production home in the market), that is representative of the "low ball, cheapest price" approach some contractors take to try to get your business. Never mind the endless parade of change orders that will come later to get what you really want... they just want to show you the low price. Take that cheap tub approach and use it for every product in a master bathroom... shower, shower doors, tile, vanity cabinets, countertops... and what you get is a price that could very well be as low as the client indicates in her report. We price to the middle in terms of using midrange products to begin with because we want to give you a sense of "reality" for your project. Then, we help you understand where you can save or where you can upgrade. However, even if a client tells us they are moving in 2 years, we would never price for that type of tub in the master bathroom of a half million dollar home. It's deceiving and completely inappropriate. In this client's particular neighborhood, we have completed several master bathroom renovations over the years. Every one of them has been between $50,000 and $60,000. In the last year, we completed one in the neighborhood for $52,000 that was for another Angie's List member who loved us and submitted a very complimentary report. Our project price to this member submitting this report to completely renovate her very large master bathroom was a bit over $32,000 and that was based on cautiously spending dollars only in areas that would add resale value. This included expanding her shower area and redesigning her tub area with a new tile tub deck. In our opinion, taking this conservative approach to finishes and spending significantly less for a bathroom that wasn't her dream bathroom was an appropriate, realistic approach to begin the process. Sure, she probably wanted to see a price of $20,000 and when she saw it from someone else that probably made her day, but it didn't make accurate. It simply told her what she was hoping to hear. We are a professional, honest, very reputable remodeling company with hundreds of "A" reports and Super Service Provider Awards every single year since 1999. We do our very best to give accurate, reasonable information to every potential client. In this case, we tried to inform her and educate her... and provide her with value given the resale likely in the near future. Unfortunately for us, she liked the price in the low 20's of the contractors who were offering low ball estimates. As a result, she will either receive a greatly inferior product to the price point of her home or she will pay for change order after change order and end up where we began. We aren't sure how you politely share that with a member effectively without insulting them, but we do our best. We will simply tell you as a prospective client reading this that we don't care what you spend. It isn't about how big a project becomes. We signed a contract this morning for a few thousand dollars to help a client renovate a small area of their bathroom. Our goal is simply to help you accomplish your goals. And then, we hope to do every project you have for years to come because we did a great job for you! In conclusion, we would tell you that every situation is different. All clients have different needs... different wants... different spaces to work with... different budgets. We do our best to help you accomplish your goals within your budget. We hope you will consider us for your project and know that we will do whatever we can to earn your trust and your business

This is our second remodeling job with the Lifestyle Group (LGI). LGI remodeled our master bathroom, and we were so pleased with their work, we asked them back for our kitchen remodel. LGI did a really nice job for us on the kitchen, too. Since they start from the ground up (they remove everything down to the wall studs), they are not limited by current applicance hook-ups or other limitations of the legacy room layout. LGI started with a complete redesign of the kitchen that moved our appliances to optimal positions for total kitchen utility. The remodel planning included drawings of the finished kitchen that left us really excited about our remodeling project. LGI uses only top-quality materials. Our cabinets, flooring and countertops are gorgeous. The cabinets included two huge lazy-Susans and soft-close drawers. The backsplash tile gets a lot of positive comments for its design and attractiveness. They also laid carpet for us and painted our living room and hallway. The carpet is some of the nicest-feeling carpet I have ever walked on. The Lifestye crew members were great. All of the LGI workers were friendly, quiet and respectful of our home. LGI has become our "go to" firm for home remodeling. We highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Complete remodel of our kitchen, including moving our appliance hook-ups, new flooring, cabinets, counter tops, lighting and plumbing.

we had hoped to remodel our only full bath, but were intimidated by certain tasks specific to this area of the house and had no idea what to expect as far as cost goes. so when we saw the coupon offer on Angie's List for a proposal, for only $60, we grabbed it. being a visual person, i had hoped the proposal would include visuals that would help us to see what the finished project would look like. and though the proposal had some visual specs for the cabinetry, it really fell short of my expectations. however, in fairness to the company, this was a $60 proposal, not a $300-$400 proposal. also, i felt that there could have been other, perhaps more creative, alternative layouts for the cabinetry. though i am sure Geoff would have been only too glad to work with us on further modifying the plans. this was only a preliminary proposal, afterall. the bulk of the proposal was limited to a breakdown of what to expect as far as potential cost to complete the project. i found this very helpful. not being familiar with what is a reasonable cost for most areas of bathroom remodeling, i had no idea if the proposal was fair. i assumed it was, based on the company's excellent rating. also, our contact with the company office, and with Geoff, personally, was very positive and very professional. the one kaveat to that is that we are very familar and comfortable with drywalling. my father was a spackler. also, we had drywalled and spackled the entire second floor of a previous home. so, when we saw the estimate of approx. $1,800 to drywall a full bath measuring roughly 8' x 8' , we did question that. sometimes it's hard for DIY'ers to appreciate the added expense of having someone else take over the headache of planning and implementing one's wishes. unfortunately, the concern became moot as, in the end, a more immediate home improvement project loomed over us, which forced us to delay the bath remodel. to sum it up, our initial impression of Life Style Group is very positive. and when we are finally able to initiate the remodel, we will seriously consider hiring LSG as our contractor.
Description of Work: provide a proposal for a full-bath remodel.
