They seemed very professional. I like that they do it all instead of hiring different contractors. I visited their showroom where everything is in one location. A daughter's wedding postponed the project to 2015 but plan to use them.
Description of Work: They came and drew up a plan to remodel our kitchen. This involved removing a wall, cabinets, moving location of appliances, electrical and plumbing work, and flooring in kitchen.

I wished it would have included more details. I did send an email requesting more details but have not heard back . I have also not followed up with them. There was good communication with scheduling the initial appointment.
Description of Work: They provided an architectural layout but no really detailed schematics for any builders to go off of such as where electrical outlets go, etc.

Response from Lifestyle Group Residential Remodeling
We are very sorry this member was not satisfied with the design product they received. For $60.00, we came to their home, spent an hour discussing the project, took detailed dimensions and took photos of their current bathroom space. Then, we spent several hours creating a design for the space, followed by several more hours of project pricing. After that, the member came to our office and we spent another hour reviewing all of the details of their bathroom design. We sent them home with floor plans that had detailed dimensions, as well as 3-D views of every wall in the master bathroom. They walked away with a visual of exactly what the new bathroom would look like from every angle. We explained why elements of the design were located where they were and explained the trade offs of going to a freestanding tub and moving the shower, etc. Also during that visit, we walked the member through the pricing of the project and gave her a sense of what it would cost to make the proposed design become reality. After all of that time and effort and information... for $60... the member is disappointed they didn't get an electrical layout, which we are sorry to say is not part of the $60 storefront design offer. We will happily get into electrical layouts once a client has committed to partnering with us on a project, but the purpose of the Storefront offer is to help people have an understanding of what they can do with the general use of their space and details such as vanity cabinet design options. We did explain in our 2nd visit that we had priced for can lights over the shower and tub... and that we had included an exhaust fan/light unit in the pricing... and that we would suggest continuing to have lights over each sink at the vanity, but this explanation apparently wasn't enough. It is very important for us to note that this member was planning to do this project themselves as she indicated she had family with the ability to do the work, so they just wanted the design ideas. We note that simply because there is an inference that we weren't being responsive, when the reality is that we were politely declining to spend added hours creating electrical schematics and giving them free additional information while they were having others do the work. We felt like we had offered tremendous value to them for $60 in the many hours spent toward the complete redesign of their master bathroom space. In conclusion, we are very aware and completely fine with the idea that many members are at a place with their own potential projects where they are just trying to get an idea of what they can possibly do with a space in terms of design. And, often times members are not ready to proceed with the work being done. We do not end up doing the work on every project we complete a $60 design for... and that's not a problem at all. But, we would like to ask members to understand and appreciate the amount of time these designs take to create on our end. It is very disappointing to spend that much time and do that much work to read that a member expected more for their $60. If they didn't like the design concepts we suggested, that would be different. This member simply didn't think we did enough for her $60 investment. That's why we are providing such a lengthy reply. Thank you for reading our response. If you would like to know what you would get for your $60 before making the purchase of a Storefront offer, just give us a call at our office and we can scan you an example of what the end product would look like. We really want everyone to be very happy with the results of our many hours of work... and while we know most members are very happy... we just wanted to politely address this situation for people who might question what it is they would receive for the $60 purchase.

They were prompt contacting us after the purchase. He met us at our house and was on time. He took measurements and explained the process. About a week later, we met in their show room and he went through the plans. It was nice seeing pictures of other remodels. His plan was quite detailed. After receiving other quotations, we went with another contractor based on their plans and price.

It was a good experience. We had them do the Master Bath. The plan they included was fine but their response time wasn’t all that good. It took them 2-3 weeks to get the plan back to us. It also took us about 1 week to get the initial appointment.

They did not do the one thing that I asked which was tell me which walls I could move in my basement. They also required me to drive 45 minutes for a 10 minute presentation of what they came up with. They claimed that they needed me at the showroom to show me materials which they did not. They were very rude when I asked if they could do a conference call instead of an in person visit due to my work schedule and the fact that it was so far. I would never recommend them to work with anyone I know.

Response from Lifestyle Group Residential Remodeling
These type of reports are so disappointing to even have to respond to because as a company it seems like we can't win at times. We offer a deal to members with very clear requirements in writing that members read at the time of purchase. The deal requires a first visit at the home during normal business hours and a second visit at our office during normal business hours. We do that because we want whoever buys the deal at a very, very reduced price (for Angie's List members) to have the requirement of a time investment. We know if someone is serious about a project, they will invest their most precious commodity... which is time. If they aren't serious, they won't waste their time until they are truly ready for the information. We aren't high pressure and we certainly are not rude in any way or we wouldn't have so many great clients and so many Super Service Provider awards (every year since 1999)... I think most people would tell you we are very nice to work with, but there are some members that just aren't real nice. In this case, I would politely characterize this as a situation where the member was too busy to even consider the project from the moment of the first visit, and she was clearly too busy to listen. She was told in person and in writing that the wall she wanted to move likely could not be moved without seeing what the foundation contractor did below (because we thought the way it was constructed that this was a very important support wall holding up the house with footers installed below the basement floor). I restated this to her in an email dated May 23, 2013... yes, well over a year ago. She was SO upset about her terrible experience with us that she waited 1 year and 2 months from the time of that email to file this nasty report. What it comes down to, if we are being perfectly honest, is that the project exceeded her budget and her original builder did a very poor job laying out her basement during construction such that she can't make the modifications she wants. And, for the record, it wasn't a brief second visit at all once she did make the time to come in to discuss the project. After she finally got off her phone, we had a lengthy discussion regarding the details. I remember it clearly because she cancelled the first appointment at our office an hour before she was supposed to be here... and she cancelled by email... (she was too busy) and when she came in for the second visit, we had the same conversation about the moving of the wall that she didn't want to hear. Finally, in over 15 years of doing this work, I will always remember her visit at her home because it was the only time I ever had a client's dog bite me. If it gives you any indication of the type of individual she is, she watched the dog do it and never said a word. Very nice, huh. I guess with this report we've been bit twice with this client! We wish her the best of luck on her project. Please don't hesitate to call us if you have a question about your potential project. We promise to be very nice to you!

We appreciate the thoughtfulness that went into the plan however the estimate to complete the bathroom was nearly double what we were expecting to pay so we did not engage in the company to execute the plan. Either way, $60 for a nice set of new bathroom plans was a great deal.
Description of Work: A guy showed up at our place. He was punctual and very polite. He was patient and listened to what we were really wanting in a new bathroom. He took measurements and left to work on plans. We met with him weeks later to discuss the plans and the estimate to complete it.

There were no troubles with scheduling. After they came out to take the measurements, we made an appointment to go to office and that is where they provided us with the plans. They came out and drew up the plan and quote like the big deal said they would do. The plan was fairly generic, nothing special. What they offered was fine, but when they quoted me a price to do the work, but it was too high. They were either were trying to price gouge me or didn't want the work. They were charging about $64 per square foot where as competitors were charging about $19 to $32.50 per square foot.

Response from Lifestyle Group Residential Remodeling
It is always challenging to give a client price information they are not expecting or hoping for, especially when they want a big basement fully finished, complete with a full bathroom and huge wet bar and theater room... but they only expect it to be $18.00 - $30.00 a square foot. This report indicates to us what this member didn't have the courage to discuss with us... they simply this never had a sense or reasonable understanding of what a realistic budget should be for a project like this. The truth is that we are here to help people understand what things cost and we do our very best to politely help people learn about these project costs. We tell every single client we speak with that "we do not care what you spend... you can stay basic or go very high end... it doesn't matter to us... we will help you understand the costs of the things you ask us to price and we will help you however we can." This member clearly feels they have a much better grasp of pricing than we do, however, in this particular case, they happen to be incorrect. It is important that you understand you can never get a basement finished with a full bathroom and a wet bar for anywhere near $30 per square foot. Unless your production builder is completing your basement finish with the construction of your home, you will have a hard time staying under $30 per square foot for a general basic finish in most spaces. And, in the most polite way, if you happen to find someone who tells you they can do a basement finish with a bathroom, home theater and wet bar for less than $30 per square foot, we strongly encourage you to run the other way because you are asking for trouble and taking on great risk by hiring that contractor. We are sorry this member was disappointed with the information he received and wish him the best of luck in his search for someone who will meet his budget.

They were wonderful. They did exactly what they were portraying themselves to be which were giving us plans to redesign our kitchen. They do also offer the ability to use their services to remodel our kitchen but we felt that the estimate was higher than what we would normally considered with in an acceptable range. They’re wonderful for giving you design plans for remodel. It took them a couple of weeks for them to come out which was not bad at all. They should keep doing what they’re doing because they provided great service. They gave us a lot of great ideas on how to remodel our kitchen.
