When they moved our furniture to TN, they arrived at 5:00 PM and wanted to unload the entire household that night - and didn't finish until midnight. There were only two movers for the entire house hold of furniture, whereas as many as six were used to pack and load it in Indy. There were several pieces of antique furniture that were broken and the movers were very nonchalant about it. They said, "I guess you know about these broken pieces", which we didn't. Their boss told them the house was a ranch style, but I had made it very clear to him that it was three levels, so the movers were unprepared for the stairs and couldn't move one large piece to the basement and left it in the garage. But to make it even a more miserable experience, it has taken 6 months to get their claims department to pay for the damage. Extremely unprofessional service. I would NOT use them again. We have moved internationally several times with much less damage than this move.
Description of Work: Moved our furniture from our house to storage in Indy. We were told it would be stored in containers but it wasn't - it was left on their warehouse floor for 3 months ; then they moved our furniture from storage to our house in Tennessee

Hello (removed member name, I am sorry to hear about the issues on your move. I could offer a wealth of excuses, but at the end of the day, they are just that:excuses. The simple truth is we dropped the ball on your move. We made mistakes and compounded those mistakes with poor follow up, and for that, I truly apologize. We do our best to make sure these types of things don't happen, but we do make mistakes from time to time. I can tell you without hesitation that the mistakes that happened with your move and after your move are simply not in keeping with how we normally operate. I will be sure to share your experience with everyone in the company, up to and including the owners. When we make mistakes, we do our best to make things right and to learn from those mistakes, so we don't repeat them. I know we have settled your claim and that your move was back in August of 2013, but I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you about your experience. We wish you and your family the very best. Thanks. Kenneth D. Sapp Director of Sales & Marketing Leaders Moving & Storage

Move went well. They were running behind from previous job but kept us informed well in advance. Andrew and Kyle were awesome and very quick. One of the items included in the move was an all glass corner curio cabinet and I was not nervous at all during the move.

The team arrived on time but did a terrible job packing, scratched my furniture and belongings and generally weren't great. I've moved 3 times in the 18 months before this move for work and never experienced this type of "packing". For example, instead of packing small item and jewelry that were located in a jewelry drawer of the dresser, they left everything inside as is. They then proceeded to carry said dress upstairs tilted vertically. Needless to say that was an excellent experience trying to remove the pressurized drawers to retrieve everything. The price was reasonable - but like the old adage says - you get what you pay for. I have pictures but unfortunately, you can't upload pictures here. What made matters worse was the attitude of the booker. He was very dismissive and unconcerned that my items were damaged and the packing shoddy.

Their price is actually decent and fairly reasonable. They were absolutely amazing the first time I used them. The guys were professional, efficient, and did a good job and nothing was damaged. For the second time, the guys that came over were not as good and they almost stole a piece of equipment from me. I realized they were hiding it in the truck and I noticed this kid was just in there so I immediately called the company. I had to follow up a couple of times and they finally brought it back. Otherwise, they did a good job except for a piece of glass that they damaged and then reimbursed. I would use them again as long as they didn't bring that kid back.

Excellent job by this company. The three man crew showed up on time and ready to work. Worked hard to complete everything within the time allotted, and provided several extras that were over and above the original contract. I would definitely use this company again, they did a great job.

Okay, initial contact and office staff very polite and helpful. Initial movers did a good job. Upon second move (which was approx 4 months later), there was significant turnover in staff. Manager we initially worked with was gone as well as 2 out of the 3 guys that moved us. Maybe it's part of the business but seemed like a lot o staff turnover in short time. Movers upon second move did a good job for most part. One of the 3 clearly wasnt "into" working and complained and sat around (or went MIA) a LOT. There was some damage to our trim work at new house as well as a missing glass top to a table. Both claims submitted. Trim work was repaired very quickly with no issues. Glass top for table still MIA and no word on any replacement. Also, with the storage- it took about 2 months before we ever received a bill or invoice. We had to email them. Overall, the job done was decent but I feel as though they didnt quite have everything up to par.
Description of Work: Moved us twice. Once from our home to a rental and then from rental to new home. Also provided storage while we were in rental.

aThe day of the move they came without any wardrobe boxes and no alternatives. They began professional enough, but became careless. They disassembled an antique vanity ( we were not told it needed to be disassembled). When it came time for the big screen they did get it to the curb. One of the movers deliberately elbowed and broke the flat screen, shattering glass onto the sidewalk. It would have been taken by large trash, but the glass made it a hazard and we had to ay $125 to haul it away the next day as the new tenants weren't happy. (nor were we). As they left the house one of the movers off handedly said "see you tomorrow". (!) We had to stop them and insist they call the office as we had made it a one day move. They were visibly not happy with the one day move. 5 hours later (it is a 3 hour drive), they arrived at the new house. Tired, they became very sloppy and unprofessional.. very crude comments. We discovered many damaged items. A custom made solid oak desk had the middle drawer ripped out of the track and track splintered from the under frame. 2 bookcases were missing brackets for the shelves, 2 casters were broken off a cedar chest, a pane of glass from the antique china cabinet was shattered , and the vanity was not reassembled. Even worse. they had removed the mirror from it's circular molding and that bracket was also rendered worthless, a drawer pull was broken off, and wood inlays ripped out. A rolling filing cabinet had coasters twisted off. We called Leaders within a few days to inform them of the damage. By then we heard that they had damaged the front screen door from the old house. (hinge/spring broken off). We spent the next few weeks sending photos of the damages, gathering replacement estimates , etc. We looked for similar items and adjusted them down a bit. We also were told to purchase the casters, etc, ourselves and put them on. (some are damaged too much). Then we waited. We left emails for Dana asking about the status of our claims. After a few weeks we re-emailed again, and received an email back from Ken, who told us that Dana had left the company and he saw our email and what was our claim? As we began to go through the claim, he suggested we send photos, etc. !! We already had sent them, along with estimates. AS WE WERE talking he opened the file and said. oh, here it is. He promised to call back the next day. He also said at that time we only had partial replacement insurance and that we were supposed to dissamble and reassemble everything and nobody to this point had said anything about this. That was a week ago.We estimate the damages at approximately $2000 and have sent the photos and estimates.
Description of Work: Came to house to give an estimate on moving costs , which we reviewed. They gave us the choice for a one day move or a two day move (same price). It was to be a 2 day move, and we were to get wardrobe boxes on the day of the move. Before we moved, we asked them to come and do a re-estimate, was we had sold some items and made some changes. We had about 30 more boxes than the first estimate, (they charge by the box, not weight.) So we consolidated boxes. We deleted many large items from the original estimate: a large gas grill, a 3 piece sectional, a china cabinet, a bed, a dresser, a large wooden chest, two wood tables and some yard items. (The estimate stayed the same). We also needed to change the move from a 2 day move to a one day move. We confirmed the one day move three times, and asked about the estimate being lowered as many large items were now off. We were told that the price would be adjusted on the day of the move. Also in the estimate Leaders agreed to move a large screen TV ( the old boxy type) to the curb for us.

The movers showed up during the promised time early in the morning. My daughter's family had a lot of stuff, but Anthony and Ryan showed up and moved everything efficiently! The movers were very friendly and professional. They handled "every" item with great care, which was very comforting. One of the managers, Joe, showed up to introduce himself and even helped with the move. You could feel that the company genuinely cares about their customers. If you want an efficient move please consider this company!

Day one was packing day; a crew of five came in, very professional and efficient. Household was packed and ready to be loaded onto truck for next day. Moving day is here. The crew showed up on time and with a quick load, on our way to the new place. The crew unloaded and placed items as we needed it. Beds were reassembled. Moving day crew was efficient and most professional. All boxes are unpacked and all items were packed extremely well. We are very happy with our move, you made it easy!

Bobby and Ron were by far the best movers I've ever worked with. I have used three other moving companies over the years and was always disappointed. Not this time! They were very careful with everything they moved; so careful in fact they nearly made it out of the house with a sideboard until we heard a quiet jingle of dishes and realized I hadn't gotten all of the china out of the cabinet! They were also very thoughtful in how they loaded the furniture into the storage unit and helped us maximize the use of that space. I would recommend them to anyone!!

They weren't the cheapest but they were one of the most courteous and professional over the phone when making the initial arrangements. Sometimes that is worth more than saving a few dollars. They arrived on time. They started working immediately and didn't let up for hours. Brian, Andrew, Ron, and Bobby were our crew for the day. They were polite and respectful. They took great care to treat our things as gently as possible. The only fumble was they dropped a large dresser. The damage was minor and I was able to repair it myself. I think one of them might have hurt himself. But it would have happened to anyone - it was a huge, heavy piece. The crew had good camaraderie and were actually fun to interact with. All young men who seemed to enjoy their work. Would definitely use Leaders again and would recommend their services to others.

I can never express how disappointed I have been in Leaders Moving, post-move. Pre-Move, Aaron and his team were absolutely delightful to work with. They were the only moving company that offered to come to our home to take a tour to give me an estimate; while all of the others had me to do it over the phone. Sure enough their bid was the most complete and comprehensive of the four I received. Even though it was the cheapest, I still went with them because I felt the connection and professionalism. The actual move itself was great, the movers were on time, they took very good care of packing our things, helped explain everything to me during the entire process and things seemed to go very, very smoothly with the move. As we had anticipated, after the move, we did find some minor damages to both my furniture and a ding in our front door. Again, nothing I wouldn't have anticipated with another mover or if I had done it myself. The movers walked around the entire house with me twice to review all of my furnishings and damages. They even showed me a few things that were behind things that I would not have found myself if they had not told me. They completed the paperwork with me and then shared withe me the process to get my damages repaired under their claims department. It all has gone downhill from there. I have emailed several times the individual who was given to me as my point of contact. I went an entire month without any response (from July 19th to August 19th). Finally on August 19th, I received a message that they wanted to review the final list of damages with me and they would contact me with next steps. It is now September 9th and I still have not heard back from them again. I have another message into both my point of contact here in Indianapolis and their corporate office in Ohio. I have warned them that if this is not resolved by end of this week, I will begin seeking legal council on how to get my damages resolved. I would warn against using this company. They were great to work with all the way until they got my money, and now I feel like i'm a customer of the past. I wont' be a customer in the future. With many regrets....

My experience with Leader's Moving on Sat., August 31, was wonderful. Every single one of the movers was curteous, polite, hard-working, and understanding. They showed up promptly at eight that morning and worked carefully and consistently for two hours. They were able to manage all of the problems we faced that morning, including the miserable parking situation and the cop that wouldn't allow them to park on the curb. The posts of a future privacy fence at the apartment complex blocked any possibility of them moving their truck in front of our door; initially, they were going to have to add a $50 fee for having to park so far away, but after realizing that our apartment complex property manager was rude, ridiculous, and trying to railroad us into paying $2000 for breaking the lease in an unsafe heck hole, they didn't charge us the extra $50 fee! Loading was definitely the hardest part, too, because they had to stop traffic four times in order to move their 18ft truck for other residents leaving the complex. Unloading was a breeze. It maybe took them 50 minutes. Super job! Although moving that day was stressful, the guys at Leader's made it a memorable and positive experience. I would definitely recommend them to anyone in need of moving services!

From start to finish, the responsiveness from Leaders was excellent. Pricing was competitive with other movers and they even lowered the final cost when we had less items than originally planned. Ron and Bobbie arrived at our home on time, loaded our items, and drove immediately to Chicago, meeting us at the destination a few hours later. They were very careful with our items, professional, and had a great positive attitude. We would definitely use Leaders again.

There were four men doing the packing and loading in Carmel and three doing the unpacking in Illinois. They were all very professional, pleasant, and hard working. They did a wonderful job. They were very hard working and hope they get paid accordingly. They were very knowledgeable about handling furniture and breakables. Our only suggestion was on 7/12/2013. They reported for work at their regular time in the morning which we think was about 8. Then they left Indianapolis. As a result the unpacking did not start until about 11:30 and they finished about 7 in the evening. Then they had to drive back to Indianapolis. We think they should have arranged to leave Indianapolis at an earlier time, such as 6. We did not answer the question about price because we really do not know what the price would have been with another company. The other companies we called did their billing based on weight after the truck was packed and weighed. Leaders did a walk through with a check list and gave us an estimate based on what Aaron, their estimator, saw as he went through. All the companies we called were highly rated on Angie's List and we decided to use Leaders because we had knew at the beginning the final cost. The cost did not change and we thought $4500 was reasonable. We would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: They did some of the packing of more difficult things and we did the rest. They loaded two trucks with our belongings from a two story, 2 1/2 bath home with a basement on 7/11/2013. Then on 7/12/2013 they unloaded the same trucks in suburban Chicago at our new home.

Overall, we were very satisfied with the moving crew. They all interacted well with each other as well as my family during the actual move. They were very respectful. Anytime I asked for something to be moved, they were more than happy to oblige. Very professional. We did have a few minor items that broke during the move (a few mugs). The only major issue we had is with one dining room chair. It was scraped during the move and took out a significant chunk of the wood. Aaron has promised to have someone in their claims department look at the chair to see what type of repair can be done. I am stilll awaiting a response. I will provide further information on this later.
Description of Work: Leaders moved my home from Mooresville, IN to Plainfield, IN. They held the items in storage for 3 days in between move dates.

It was a terrible experience. From the beginning (when the 6-man crew arrived without adequate packing materials) through to the 4th day of a 2-day move, this company absolutely failed in many respects. First, I will gladly and thankfully report that the actual "moving" part was expertly done. By this I mean the padding and wrapping of my many large pieces of furniture. To date, I've found only two minor nicks in walls. The crew definitely was well trained to move furniture. Unfortunately, no other aspect of the four days went well. I was subjected to sarcasm, rudeness, unprofessionalism and the inability to contact the local office manager. Here are some "lowlights": -- as I said, the crew did not have enough packing material on hand, but did have more materials delivered throughout the days--except at the end, when they ran out, and they asked me to come to the house and load several lamps and other "glassy-stuff" (their words) in my car to take --the crew did not have any materials in which to pack my artwork and mirrors on the first day and said they would bring it on the next day. They never did get any of these special materials. On day three I watched my original oil paintings (by well known Brown County artists of the last century) being carried off the truck, with no packing around them, by the frame, in the rain! --when I asked the crew chief what I could do to help the move go smoothly, I was told to "go pop some popcorn" and leave them alone. . . which I understood to mean that they were the professionals and didn't want/need me (widow) around. So I left them alone and went to my new home to wait for their truck(s). Only at the end of the third day was I told that I should have stayed around "to help keep the guys focused" -- that they tried to call me, but didn't have my cell phone number (I don't believe that). I was told that I was supposed to have unplugged electronics, pre-moved all liquids, removed lightbulbs, etc. . . none of these things were explained to me and these tasks are not listed anywhere in the contract. --on the first day, as I said, six men arrived. By day three, there were two. The crew chief was extremely angry at having to work that day, as it was his birthday. At around 3:00 in the afternoon, the crew chief came to me asking to be paid in full. At that time, there was about half a truck left to unload, and many other things still at my house left to move (all of which could have easily been on this truck). I said my agreement was to pay at the end of the move when I was satisfied. He said Indiana law gave him the right to demand payment at any time and that he wanted it right then. I had noticed earlier that he had driven his car to the new home, leaving one mover to drive the truck. I felt very intimidated at his actions and tone and was afraid he was going to get final payment and just leave--which is just what he did, but without payment. I was not going to pay until the job was finished. He stormed out, slamming the contract down, saying he was going to report that "customer refused to pay". The remaining items on the truck (including washer, dryer, and other large items) were carried inside by the only remaining mover. The only real professional of the entire crew.
Description of Work: Leaders was hired to pack and move all contents of my four bedroom home.

The scheduling experience was amazing. The initial point of contact in the Columbus, OH Office was informative and great to work with on finding the best time and date for the move. On the day of the move, the two associates that were scheduled to move the items showed on time ,was friendly and motivated to complete the work even though it was raining and conditions were not the best. The two associates did a good job of protecting (wrapping and such) the furniture prior to moving it into the truck. At this point, the experience was still "A" Rated. Once we arrived to the new home, the two associates did a good job with moving the the items into the new home, but did cause some damage to a few furniture items and caused damage to a wall which will need drywall repair...but again...I was confident that with my experience thus far, it would not be an issue to get the damaged items repaired. On the same day of moving (05/31/2013), I contacted the corporate office in Columbus, OH and explained what had happened. The operator explained to me that I would need to contact their Claims Dept to begin the process of filing for repair. I was connected with a Claims Associate and left a voicemail requesting a call back to get the process started for a repair. (I left my name, contract number, phone number, etc). On 06/01/2013, I called and left the Indianapolis Area Manager a voicemail letting him know that I had contacted their Corp Claims Dept and if there was anything he could do to assist, I would appreciate his assistance. On 06/03/2013, the Area Manager did call me back and left me a voicemail that he would help follow up with the Claims Dept. As of 06/15/2013, I have not received a call back from either office....my wall is still damaged. How can the service be amazing for the initial process and end so poorly?

First and foremost let me personally apologize for the communication issues and for the lack of response from our claims department. I have spoken with our claims manager and the branch manager for Indianapolis and let them both know about the situation. We will get these issues addressed immediately. Our goal is to ensure you have a positive moving experience from beginning to end, and we certainly did not deliver in this situation. As you can see from our work ethic while completing your move, this type of thing is absolutely not in keeping with our company standards. I make no excuses for the issues, simply put, we dropped the ball. Having said that though, please rest assured the issues will be handled immediately. The branch manager will be reaching out to you today, and our claims manager will address these issues in and expedited fashion. I am hopeful that we can redeem ourselves in your eyes. If you have any questions or additional concerns, please don't hesitate to give me a call. I can be reached at 800-481-6843 ext. 229. Again, I apologize for the issues. We will make things right. This is a difficult review to write because many things went very well with our move. In particular, we were impressed with the Leaders employees who came to our home to load and move us. They were prompt, professional, courteous to us and our three children, and were careful with our belongings. We would hire these men again in an instant. We had some complex instructions about which of our belongings needed to go to our new apartment vs. our storage unit and, while the movers didn't get everything right on this, they tried their best. Unfortunately, management did not assign a consistent team to our project, and we feel that this caused an increase in the number of errors (such as items going to the wrong location). In particular, instead of sending three Leaders employees to our destination, they sent two and made arrangements for a third mover to join us at our destination (from a local moving company). The third mover who joined us did not treat our items as carefully as the Leaders staff, nor was he as careful about identifying which items needed to go to our apartment vs. storage. Before hiring Leaders again, we would insist on having a consistent team of movers from the beginning of the project to the end. Frustratingly, we felt that management attempted to shortchange us on a damage claim. The movers dropped a desk when unloading and it shattered into several pieces. The workers were apologetic but I wasn't worried, since we had elected to purchase an enhanced level of insurance coverage from Leaders at additional cost: "replacement valuation" insurance (as opposed to "depreciated valuation" insurance) with no deductible. It seemed clear to us by definition that, if any item was damaged, we would be given enough money to replace the item with no out-of-pocket cost to us (i.e., the claim amount would not be adjusted for depreciation). Our interpretation of "replacement cost coverage" is consistent with the Wikipedia definition (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Replacement_value) so I don't feel we were out in left field. The desk was two years old, purchased in 2010 for approximately $500 and now selling for slightly over $700. Surprisingly, the claim amount offered by Leaders was only $400 (the original purchase price reduced for two years of depreciation at 10% per year). I challenged Leaders on this claim amount (because we were entitled to $700 based on our insurance election) and, during the course of the discussion, heard the claims manager assert the following: 1. "Depreciation comes into play on anything that is damaged. Replacement coverage does not mean zero depreciation, for one you have gotten use out of the desk for 2 years." (This is entirely inconsistent with the Wikipedia definition). 2. "This is the way all moving companies in Columbus calculate replacement cost." (Maybe so, but it's again wholly inconsistent with the Wikipedia definition). 3. When I asked how the claim amount would have been different had I not selected replacement coverage, his response (essentially "well, there would have been a deductible and I might have chosen to repair the desk instead of replacing it") made no sense to me. I eventually convinced Leaders to pay the entire $700 replacement cost, not by reasoning with them, but rather by stating that I was prepared to file a complaint with Better Business Bureau. They changed their tune fairly quickly after hearing that. In retrospect, my hunch is that their approach was to attempt to intentionally shortchange us and hope that we wouldn't put up a fight. Because of the sour experience with the damage claim, I'm afraid to say I would hesitate to hire Leaders again, in spite of the good work by the Leaders employees who actually came into our house. I would certainly inquire more about their replacement insurance before placing my trust in them again.
Description of Work: Leaders packed all of our belongings from our house in Ohio and moved us across state lines. There were actually two destinations -- a second-floor apartment and a nearby storage unit. The move took four days in total -- two packing days, one driving day, and one unpacking day.
