+ 1 moreWe noticed standing water in the basement late on Sat. afternoon and called Lance. Who stated "Give me 20 min. and I will come by and take a look". He arrived as stated researched the problem and determined it was more than we thought. He made some emergency corrections, indicating that if it was simple he would fix it then, but it was not. He gave us an estimate which was more than fair, and stated he would be back on Monday to complete. He arrived promptly at the appointed time, corrected the obvious problem. It was then determined that a major secondary problem existed that was not noticeable until the original problem was corrected. He gave us an estimate which was again fair based on what had to be done, completed the work and cleaned up after himself.
Description of Work: Corrected a drain and back up problem in the basement, plus installed a sewer clean out opening and cleaned the main drain pipe from the house to the street.

Description of Work: My sump pump was not working properly and water was starting to back up. I called them and they were able to come that afternoon, identified the problem and correct it promptly. The back up sump pump was under warranty and was replaced the next day.

+ -1 moreWe had a leaky water pipe in our crawl space that required us to turn off our water, so getting complete service quickly was paramount. I called the company at 7:00 am, Lance Smith answered (no voice mail message required!). I explained the problem and he was here by 10 am, done and cleaned up before 11 am. The job required him to get into our muddy crawl space, accessed through the basement. It was a very dartk, dirty, and difficult to reach area. He used tarps to protect the floors, and explained just what he found.
Description of Work: Lance took out a leaky T joint section of pex pipe and replaced with a new one. The old joint had been crimped improperly leading to the leak.

+ 0 moreThe night before we needed assistance, our showere suddenly stopped draining. The next day, we called the company and the owner assured me he would arrive as soon as possible. Within the hour he was on his way. From then on, everything was handled perfectly.. The shower drain cleared quickly with the company owner's expert help, something we couldn't achieve after several hours of attempts the night before. Every step was explained clearly, the work was completed efficiently, and we were given tips to keep our shower drain running correctly. We were NOT given a hard sell or asked to pay for expensive or unnecessary services. We felt the price was very reasonable and that we were treated fairly . This will be our first choice of companies to call for plumbing problems,
Description of Work: This company was a lifesaver as our shower drain clogged completely a day before guests were to arrive! Even though we called on such short notice we got a quick response and the service was excellent and among the best companies we have ever used. The owner was not only professional and explained exactly what was wrong but had the shower fixed within a very short time. He also gave us tips to help prevent future problems.

Lance was flexible with scheduling and accommodated my need to reschedule due to family visiting during our original appointment. The installation was solid and clean. + -1 moreLance, the owner of L.D. Smith was professional and responsive from the first call. He showed up exactly on time. Explained everything that he was going to do and clarified if I had any questions. The reason I chose to have a washer pan installed was protection to my wood floor against an aging 13 year old washer machine since most old machines start leaking from the bottom when they start to break down. He suggested changing the hot and cold service valves and showed me that they were leaking. A new pair would increase my security. I believed his suggestion was honest and valid. So the change was made. Lance submitted an estimate and adhered to the price and honored an Angie's List discount. He was a pleasure to work with and I felt like he was not trying to sell me something that I didn't need. I would not hesitate to call him again.
Description of Work: Provided and installed a Mustee washing machine pan in utility room. Plumbed drain to existing 2 inch lavatory drain in crawl space. Oiled the trap. Installed new hot and cold service valves in washer box.

Plus, offered me a time window. Lance showed up on time and did what turned out to be a hard job-- he had to clear the entire line. I was pleased with the work, and plan to contact him for my future plumbing needs.
Description of Work: Our sewer line stopped draining and Lance performed an emergency line cleaning that extended almost to the street.

Description of Work: Lance removed an old kitchen faucet and installed a new one that we had purchased on our own. He had come out before he started his own company (LD Smith) and diagnosed the problem and gave some recommendations on what to get in the form of replacement. I thought he was very straightforward and realistic in his recommendations. He looked at some other issues we were having and didn't push us to do anything and I liked that. He installed the new kitchen faucet and while I wasn't overwhelmed with the quality of the materials I had purchased (Delta faucet with sprayer and soap dispenser) the work he did was neat and professional. He also installed a utility sink I purchased and tapped into a water line for a second basement fridge ice maker/water dispenser. This was all done very well. In all, he was here for about 4-5 hours. The price above was only labor as I had purchased the materials myself. It seemed a reasonable price to me.

+ 0 moreOn the recommendation of a friend, I recently hired LD Smith Plumbing to clean a clogged drain at a rental property. Even though there was some original confusion about the appointment time, he arrived within an acceptable time frame. He was very pleasant and explained the risks involved with drain cleaning. Even though I think the price was too high, you get what you pay for, and I will definitely hire this plumber again in the future.
Description of Work: I was recently in need of a plumber at a rental property for a clogged drain. The plumber arrived and diagnosed that the clog was in the pipe between the home and the street. He snaked the drain through an outside access point. The entire service call lasted approximately 1.5 hours. He left the work area clean and was accomodating to my tenant's needs.
