I noticed during the night that the supply valve for one of our toilets was leaking, and when I tried to turn it off it just spun freely and the toilet wouldn't stop filling. I also was unable to find the main shutoff valve, so while I usually do our plumbing repairs myself, at this point I knew I couldn't handle this one and I needed a professional plumber. I had to wait a few hours until morning (while I kept a small bucket under the leak and emptied it as needed), then I called our usual HVAC company, which also does plumbing, but learned that both of their plumbers were already booked all day. I explained the situation, and that I at least needed help to turn off my water until someone could come out to do the repair, so one of their plumbers called a few minutes later to see if he could help me do this over the phone. When I told him that I'd searched both inside and outside for a shutoff valve, and that I thought may have found it under the kitchen sink but was unable to get it to turn, he could tell I needed to have someone come out right away. He said, "While I hate to give away the business, I'm going to refer you to someone who I know will do a good job for you. Hopefully he's available and can get right out there today." And he gave me the contact information for LD Smith. At that moment my problem turned into a success story. I called and spoke with the owner, Lance, who said he could be at my house in just a little over an hour. He arrived promptly, and within 20 minutes had taken a look at the leak, shut off the water, and started the repair. Almost as soon as he started he realized the tank had some small cracks, and he recommended full replacement. I'd also asked him to look at our other two toilets, as they were overdue for an overhaul, and he recommended a rebuild (everything from the wall forward with the exception of the fixtures themselves) for each of them and gave me an estimate for all the work. I agreed that this was exactly what was needed, and the price was about what I'd expected, so I told him to go ahead. He left and returned with the new toilet within the hour, called one of his associates who'd had a cancellation in to help, and they had all the work done within 90 minutes. He discounted the rebuild work since he was able to do all three toilets during one visit, and he also accepted the Angie's List coupon even though the other work was discounted. It's been about a week since the repairs, and everything is working perfectly. I'll continue to call my HVAC company when I need that kind of service, but from now on Lance and LD Smith are who I'll call when I need plumbing help.

We have used Lance and his Company in the past with outstanding results. We decided sometime ago to replace some old outdated faucets in our kitchen that had seen better days. We purchased the ones that we wanted as we are fond of a particular type and brand. After picking up the faucets we contacted Lance, agreed on a mutually convient date. Terry whom we have used before and have been impressed with both his knowledge and professionalism arived at the appointed time gave an estimate, to which I agreed. He then completed the replacement with no problems, in what I thought was little time, cleaned up the area, and took the old faucets an material with him. They again proved why they are rated as A with Angie's list.

It was great, the techniciants name was Terry. He was professional, on time, and very knowledgeable.

Thru home warranty company they were sent out to repair a water leak in our ceiling. Found cause, explained the issue and fixed it promptly. So far, no more leaking!

I am very happy with the work they did. Not only were they very professional and thorough. They took the time to explain everything to me. I will continue to use LD Smith Plumbing for all future projects and issues.

They came out and gave an estimate. But they did not show on their first visit and were late their second visit. Their estimate was extremely higher then other estimates I received. I would not use them because of their lack of professionalism.

Showed up as scheduled for estimate. Estimate came in at 55% of another competitors. Explained what was causing problem, what work would be done, potential issues that might arise, how they would be addressed. Scheduled work to fit my schedule. Arrived as scheduled. Completed work timely. Disturbed area around work site minimally.

I highly recommend L.D. Smith Plumbing. When I called the phone was answered promptly and professionally. I scheduled an appointment & the plumber called when he was on his way to our home, just like I was told he would when I scheduled the appointment! He was on time, clean, professional, courteous and completed the job in short order. He respected us & our home and always wore "booties" when inside and also left everything clean when he left! Price was not the cheapest but given all the good things about this business & their superior customer service it was certainly fairly priced!

Very good experience. I emailed Lance since I discovered the problem at 10 pm on a Sunday. He called the next morning and was able to replace the water heater that day.

Company came promptly, one hour after being called. Drained water from basement, replaced failed sump pump and inoperative water heater in approximately 4.5 hours.

Prompt arrival, allowed us to use Angie's List coupon. Work was performed quickly and efficiently.

Terry was great. He was courteous and professional and did a wonderful job. Everything was done properly and he took the time to explain everything he was doing. I asked a lot of questions and he took the time to explain everything. He also pointed out flaws in other parts of the plumbing, so I know what's right and wrong with this new house I bought. I really appreciate the advice and consultation. I've had two basement floods in the past, and Terry understood that. I feel very confident in the job that was performed. He even installed a shelf for the backup monitoring unit, rather than just setting it on the floor. Very top notch and professional. I would hire Terry for any plumbing needs in the future. Thanks!

Just great. No problems at all. Fast job, only took about half hour.

I had drainage problems (again) with tubs and toilets not flushing properly. Called my home warranty company and they sent out LD Plumbing. My system is the original from 1962 when the house was built and I have roots in my pipes. On the first visit ($60 standard fee) the main line was snaked and things seemed to start working again. About a week later I began having the same problems. I called my warranty company again and they sent LD Pluming back out for a return visit call. The main line was snaked even farther up the pipe but the toilet in master bath still wouldn't flush. We discussed the problem and I agreed to have him pull the toilet and look down that drain. This was outside the coverage of my warranty so I had to pay for it ($277). The toilet was pulled up and I heard exclamations of "Wow! I've never seen that before!". There was a large root blocking my pipe under the toilet! It had grown under the house slab and creeped it's way up the side of the pipe, over the top and was growing down the pipe! The root was carefully pulled out and it was about 4 feet long. A new wax seal was applied, toilet was reseated and bolted down. Since then, I've haven't had any problems but know more will creep up as the whole system of pipes needs to be replaced. Lance is very nice, arrived promptly and answered all calls. This is a newer company itself, but Lance seems to be fairly experienced and knowledgeable at what he is doing.

He did a good job but I felt he was a little high with his pricing.

Sump pump had a broken switch and wouldn't shut off and overheated so I called LD Smith and they were able to come out that day. I chose them because they had an A rating and an Angie's List member coupon for a free sump pump if you have them install a battery back up sump pump. I figured that the battery back up would be a little expensive (just to make the coupon work for them) but I had been planning on getting one installed anyway so decided to go for it. When the plumber arrived I was informed that the battery back up that went with that coupon was $1700! Sure it was top of the line but for that price it had better wash my clothes, rake my leaves and read my kids a bedtime story. Needless to say I just had him install a new sump pump for $430 without the battery back up. The plumber was prompt, courteous and professional but also a little untrustworthy - as in 'Wow $1700! That's a lot, how much for a simpler battery back up if I don't use the coupon'? "Oh well, ummm, that's the only one that we carry. All the other battery back ups are garbage. Trust me". Wink, wink.

We had a draining issue with our dishwasher. He was able to clear out the debris. He did it in really good time. We have used him before on several things. We called him and he was able to come out the same day. He's great about giving us a heads up on pricing and what the project would entail. We found him using a Big Deal in the past, and we've been using him ever since. His pricing is very fair, and he's always willing to work with what the customer needs.

Promptly returned phone call. As it was not an emergency, was out first thing the next morning. Arrived right on time. Called 15 minutes ahead to confirm he was on the way. Surveyed the issues. Explained the estimate and exactly what he proposed to do. Wore protection over his shoes to protect floors and carpet. Promptly did the work [even with having to go to the store / office to pick up missing parts...didn't effect end price]. Very professional and courteous. Would definitely use LD Smith again for any plumbing need.

There was an issue with the hot water in my home. Basically, it wasn't flowing properly. The cold water was coming out fine, but the hot water was barely trickling out. I called two other companies, but their schedules were booked. I called L.D. Smith Plumbing, and Lance himself answered the phone. He had openings, and was able to fit me in immediately. He was very punctual. I had an 8 a.m. appointment, and he called at 7:30 a.m. to tell me he was on his way and would be arriving in approx. 20 minutes! He came in and went righ to work! He found the problem in less than 5 minutes! The pipe was full of lime, and gunk that had accumulated over the years due to the hard water. He took the pipe off and showed me the inside. It was disgusting! you couldn't even see through it, so of course water couldn't flow through it....thus causing the problem! He replaced the pipe, and VOILA! The water flowed perfectly! He wasn't even bothered by my little pesky barking dog. He was very professional, extremely knowledgeable, and fast! I would definitely recommend him, and use his services again! A+

Through my home warranty I was connected with LD Smith Plumbing. I had a list of things I needed to check out. I was very lucky that the first two companies that my Home Warranty company contacted were not available and LD Smith became my contractor. Lance called me to schedule and appointment and we went over all of the issues with the house. I was called before the appointment to confirm that someone was home. Terry showed up five minutes before the scheduled time which was great. I showed him all of the areas to look at. He explained to me the process of dealing with my Home Warranty company involving each separate issue. Once he identified what he had to do he called the Company to get approval for the work. Terry fixed all of the issues quickly. I just purchased this home so I am in "hovering mode" with contractors at this point trying to figure out how my house is set up. Terry went above and beyond to answer my questions and was extremely helpful. He looked at my original water softener and was able to give me a quote on installing a new one. These guys are extremely professional and were a pleasure to work with.

This was our first time to call L.D. Smith (found reference and coupon in Angie's List magazine). They were quick to respond to our call and arrived right when they said they would. It was Terry who did the work and he was professional, friendly, and knew what he was doing. We'd never had any problems with our water heater before, but it was over 10 years old, so of course we were concerned that it might have to be replaced. Terry explained things thoroughly and made it easy to understand what he was doing. There were no "scare tactics" and no high pressure to buy things we didn't need (just like it says in their ad!) Like alot of people, our budget is fairly tight, so we were VERY grateful that replacing a little part was all it needed (along with a good cleaning out). We were pleased and impressed with this company and would certainly use them again. It was probably a situation where a less honest company could have taken advantage of us, so we are very pleased and grateful to find that they have chosen to do business the right way. As a fairly new business (with years of experience in the industry though), they're off to a great start by building on a foundation of excellent work, along with integrity. Nothing beats having a great reputation, because people value having someone they can trust...and they'll be happy to tell others about your good work. I know we are!Oh...another good point: even though it was a fairly "small" job, they honored the full discount that was shown on their coupon, saving us even more, so we were just completely pleased with the whole experience. On Thursday evening we noticed water dripping through the ceiling from the area of the second floor bathroom. I called Lance on Friday and within 1 hr. he arrived diagnosed the problem, provided and estimate which was more than reasonable to which we agreed. He started the repairs, found an additional problem that could not bee seen until tear down. Was able to also repair the additional problem rather quickly and had us back in service with in 90 min. I realize I have submitted another report on L.D. Smith within 180 days, but their professionalism and service in response to my additional plumbing issues needs to be recognized and reported. Service of this type is a rarity in this day and age and should be recognized.
