Jim spent quite a bit of time in the yard with my husband explaining everything he was doing, and why. Having never lived on septic, we're a little nervous about it all. He spent over an hour checking out the system and then gave us recommendations. He suggested some work that needed to be done, but also advised us that we should get several estimates besides his before making any decisions, just to avoid any conflict of interest from the inspection. He made arrangements to meet us at the new house at the same time as our home inspections, thereby eliminating the need to drive out twice. He called me ahead of time to let me know he was on his way and was very prompt. Very polite man. Seems to know quite a lot about his business.

It was expensive but it may not have been more expensive than another sewer system. They showed up and gave me an estimate and did the work. There was a problem after it was installed. They came out and fixed it so it was good.

We purchased our home in June 2013 and had no knowledge of previous maintenance of septic system. Inspection dye test indicated everything was working, but we had no idea how full settling tank was. We saw plenty of good reviews for this company and made an appointment between 10-noon. They called us at 9:45 to tell us they were on their way, and asked for directions as mapping services can have a tough time finding us. They said they would arrive sometime around 10:30, but actually arrived a little after 10, which was great. Clean-out went fine, but they charged us extra for our larger tank (1500 gal). They were initially concerned about lack of pressure when we flushed our toilets, but after reassuring them that we don't have any backup issues, they were okay with it. They also did a visual inspection of our laterals and perimeter drain, all of which were in working order. They were done by 10:30. I appreciated their punctuality and efficiency as I had other plans for the day and didn't have to wait around for them.

Service was scheduled between 10 - 12. Truck arrived a few minutes before 10. Service man showed me that the septic tank was really full and had me go inside & flush the toilets so they could determine if the drain from the house was clogged. They emptied the tank, checked the quantity pumped, explained how I should have the tank pumped more frequently to avoid problems & charged me as discussed when I set up the appointment. I received a discount for being an Angie's List member. Very efficient & friendly.

We moved into a new house in October 2013 that is not on city water or sewer. Our sewer tank access lid is located in the driveway and had no form of lock. We were contacted by the Marion County Health Department (MCHD) and advised that it had to have a locking mechanism or else we could face a fine. It was complicated by the fact that our lid was stripped and conventional methods would not work. Knox Septic made 2 trips to our residence and was able to come up with a way of bolting the lid to MCHD's satisfaction. We were very pleased with their service.

Shortly after we moved into our house, the snow melt and rain caused our septic field to flood and back up into our house. We brainstormed ideas with multiple septic companies and determined that Knox's solution sounded the most feasible. Jim Knox took time out of his weekend to look at it for us. He quickly found (in about 10 minutes) where all our fingers were, the d-box location, and determined where we could add the secondary tank. A month later, when the weather had gotten cold enough (-5 or close) to drive on the finger system, Knox performed the needed work. Knox completed the conversion is one day and seemed to do a very good job. Since the work was completed, we have had no issues with the septic field. We think that Knox did a great job and we would definitely work with them again.

They accurately diagnosed the problem of a failing septic pump and failing tank alarm. They first pumped it dry so they could get in and do the work. They replaced the pump and even made the system better by improving the piping. Unfortunately they were not able to fully install the new tank alarm due to wiring problems. So that part was never finished and I'm now stuck with a non-working tank alarm. I also had to call them back to adjust the pump float switch, as it was constantly running. However, they came out quickly and seemed to fix it.

Mr. Knox was able to fit me in when I had access to the property. Since the property had tenants that were not very cooperative about inspections, I was glad he was so flexible. When I set up the inspection, he gave me a estimate for his service which was over $100 less than another company I had called. He ended up charging even less after the inspection was complete. Mr. Knox called me to confirm an hour prior to my appointment time. Upon arrival, he immediately began to work and explain all his observations and thoughts about the location. It was apparent that he was very experienced and knowledgeable. Even though it was Friday evening and he had additional appointments after mine, he took his time and was not rushed. He expertly located the access to the septic tank despite it being buried two feet underground. While digging, he relayed his observations as he could tell the system had been under stress at some point. I know there is controversy as far as the dye test and its validity in testing the septic system. However, he performed the dye test and located an area he was concerned about in the leeching field. We watched for the dye to appear and guess what....A river of dye eventually showed up revealing a FAILED septic system. This $375 that we spent may of saved us up to $30,000! If you are considering purchasing a home with a septic system, especially one that the history can't or is not provided (such as how often it has been pumped out etc.) you need this man to perform an inspection! Well worth his reasonable rate!

Provided an inspection which assisted us in determining if we could move forward with purchasing a home. We very much appreciate the knowledge offered during the phone conversation as well as the information we gathered as a result of the septic tank inspection. Tis service appears to be a small company, very well run. The 2 men who provided the pump-out service were polite and did their job efficiently. I was even given a bonus hint as to how to flush out the secondary line(s) once they had emptied the tank.
