They were very nice. They were very responsive. They called us and got the inspection done. The representative spent a lot of time and found out major defects that we weren?t aware of. So the house sale didn?t go through. He saved us a whole lot of money. We will probably use him again. We just put a bid in for a house today so we will contact him sometime next week if we get the bid. He gave us a completed report which helped us get out of the contract. He did a very good job. He was very thorough.

He did a good for me. We were satisfied with his assement. We ultimately decided to list our home.

The inspection went extremely well. John was very thorough, took the time to point things out to me in terms of plumbing lines, routine maintenance, etc. His report is extremely descriptive with good pictures. It is written in a way that is simple to understand. He was very easy to work with, to set up the appointment, and has been extremely responsive to the few questions I have had. Definitely a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend him and would use him again myself without considering other options.

This is my first time buying a home and I wanted to make sure that I chose someone that can highly recommended not only through Angie's List, but by personal experiences of people I know. John was beyond excellent, he has exceeded my expectations in the his assessment and inspection of the home! He pointed out critical issues that needed to be addressed by the previous homeowner before we close on the home. He informed us that the home's furnace was 31 years old(!) and that a standard home warranty would not cover it if anything should happen. This is something my Realtor was not even aware of. Thanks to his thorough inspection and detailed notes on the issues reported we were able to have many of the issues fixed by the homeowner. He performed a wonderful inspection and helped me save THOUSANDS in repairs to the home I am buying. I cannot recommend Kidwell Home Inspection enough! He is a very genuine and nice man and lived up to and surpassed my expectations of his service!

LOOK AT PHOTOS AT BOTTOM OF REPORT FOR OBVIOUS PROBLEMS MISSED BY KIDWELL HOME INSPECTION. Fine, until there were problems. I was initially happy. I gave him a glowing review on Angie's List with all A's. However, here is what he missed. BROKEN FLOOR JOISTS AND NUMEROUS ROTTED FOUNDATION SILL PLATES WHICH WERE A MAJOR PROBLEM. NOTE: ON PHOTOS-KHI STATED THEY COULD NOT "SEE" THE DAMAGE TO THE SILL PLATES DUE TO INSULATION BEING IN THE WAY. PLEASE VIEW THE BUILD-UP OF COBWEBS IN THE PHOTOS. JOHN EITHER MIS-STATED THE TRUTH OR HIS MEMORY FAILED HIM. THE PHOTOS DO NOT LIE. Repair and remediation cost $6000. I have asked that KHI settle for half that amount. This is because if I go to court and get my $6000 judgment, I know I will have to pay a collection service at least 50% to try and collect the judgment. If your realtor refers an inspector, ask why and what's in it for them. As of March 5, 2010, the issue has not be resolved.

He was personable and did everything very thouroughly. We were very pleased with him.

John was very thorough, he made sure he informed me of all the safety concerns during the inspection. He also informed me of everything that needs to be done so I can move into the home. He reassured me that this was a very good home to purchase. He walked me through every issue and also told me how to fix it. He referred companies for me to call for things I could not repair my self. I even called him a few weeks later to ask about other things on the inspection and he remembered exactly what I was referring to and gave me suggestions for this problem as well. I will recommend John to any one purchasing a home, to make sure they are getting a good deal.

I contacted John via email on a Friday afternoon and got a quick response with an estimate. There was a minor delay in hearing back from John over the weekend to schedule the inspection, but I understand he was expecting a grandchild, so that explained the delay. We scheduled the inspection for a Monday afternoon at 5pm, and by the time I arrived (about 5:02) John was already hard at work inspecting the exterior of the home. Throughout the inspection, John was sure to make sure all of my questions were answered and he did a great job of explaining minor fixes I could invest in that would prevent a major expense later on. John also went "above and beyond" by suggesting several places to pick up cheap appliances and other home hardware (I'm a first time homebuyer). John sent me the completed inspection report within 36 hrs and sent me the radon results within just a few hours after the results were in. After the inspection, John also forwarded a list of a few contractors he has worked with in the past to complete some fixes.

John did our inspection prior to the purchase of our house. He provided a detailed report including pictures. He gave helpful hints about maintenance issues. He did point out a couple of minor repairs which needed to be done and we were able to negotiate repairs with the seller. We were initially impressed until we found out the hard way that he had missed two important problems. First, the sump pump was hooked up to dump water directly into the sewer. On June 7, 2008, two weeks after we moved in to our new house, Greenwood received 10 inches of rain. Our sewers began to back up. Our sump pump never stopped working but it was, essentially, pumping water back into our basement. Recovery and repairs cost us tens of thousands of dollars. Secondly, when I called a chimney sweep to clean out our chimney and put on caps, he reported that he could not put the caps on because the top of the chimney was deteriorating so badly. Replacing the top couple of feet on our chimney cost us thousands of dollars. The purpose of a home inspection before purchase is to identify potential problems which might have to be addressed in the near future. Kidwell Home Inspection failed miserably and we have had to pay for his oversights. John did refund the cost of our inspection but has refused to take responsibility for any of the cost of the repairs which he should have identified in the inspection.

As of 2 September, I had not received either the report or an invoice. I have tried email and voicemail, neither of which has yielded a response. Not sure what to do now. I was going to schedule a contractor to do the needed repairs after receipt of the inspection report.

John arrived on time was professional, detailed, and thorough. He is polite and respectful and performed an excellent job. My wife and I were very pleased with his services and have hired him twice, each time for about $500.

He was excellent. I would highly recommend him! He was extremely prompt and his report was very thorough. His binder was tabbed out and very well written. We were getting a home inspection as I was pregnant at the time & wanted to make sure everything was OK. When we told him this, he provided us with a lot of other information for child proofing that we didn't ask for, which was very nice.

It went very well! After he completed the visual inspection of the house, he went around and pointed out things that we should know about. He also took the time to answer any questions we had about the house. The inspection report was nicely put together with photos and details. When we had more questions after the report was sent to us he was quick in getting back to us.

Worked with John Kidwell, the owner. He responded very promptly to ALL telephone calls, including answering our questions about how to fix problem areas noted in the report. His work was in-depth and he was hustling the entire time on the job. He provided excellent photographs of problem areas and provided us with lots of additional resource information. We highly recommend John and his services!

As first time homebuyers, my fiance and I were very nervous about purchasing an older home. We came to Angie's List to find an inspector other than the one our agent recommended to be safe. John could not have been more patient and helpful with all of our questions and concerns (we had a lot of questions!). He provided a very detailed report with pictures depicting problem areas. Any questions we have had since the inspection John has been very helpful in giving his opinion and he has sent us guides to help us learn more about the topics. He even came back out to the house a second time (free of charge!) to re-inspect the air conditioning after it was repaired from the first inspection.

He was very quick and very detailed. Gives great advice.

It was easy and took a lot of stress out of buying my first home.

We made most of the repairs at little cost and when we sold our home last month, the buyer's inspection came back clean. Great result.

He was personable. I asked him to bring a radon kit which he failed to do. I had to ask for him to deliver part of the report more than once. The buyer's home inspector found problems that Kidwell missed.

My Fiancee and I did not want to take time off work in order to be present for a home inspection. Mr. Kidwell was more than willing to do this on a Saturday which happened to be over Memorial Day weekend. He was on time, professional, and precise in his assessment. We received the inspection results within three days of the inspection and everything was very detailed and even included pictures with descriptions. We appreciate him doing this over a holiday weekend to fit within our schedules and we will definitely use him in the future if we decide to purchase another home.

John came as scheduled was very pleasant to deal with. A very impressive person in every way.

John inspected the crawl space, took several pictures, and made recommendations of options for work in the crawl space. He inspected the furnace and provided recommendations of brands of furnaces and also gave recommendations of heating and cooling dealers. The information he provided was very helpful and well worth the money.

We found Mr. Kidwell on Angie's List - he was highly recommended - and we would also highly recommend him to any new buyers. Mr. Kidwell was very helpful! This is our first home buying experience and we had lots of questions - he was very thorough and gave us information that will be a great resource in years to come. We purchased an older home with no deal-breaking problems, but lots of potential improvements/fix-ups, and his info helped us prioritize the list.

He was very responsive and easy to work with. The reports that he provided were very thorough and we really liked the format of them. They were binders that had color pictures of any issues and was so good that we were able to use it whenever we needed to. His price was right. We would definitely use him again and recommend him.
