+ 0 moreIt went extremely well. The work was constantly interrupted by the weather but they kept at it and got it all done before our new baby came back from the hospital. The only issues we had were with the insurance company and the mortgage company, but Jeff was great at dealing with them.
Description of Work: Removed the hail damaged siding on the house and garage. Put insulation into the exterior walls. Put on OSB, wrap and insulated vinyl.

Description of Work: A crew of four painted our 2 and a 1/2 stories-upper level brown and the lower level white; two men on each side of the house. They spent one day thoroughly scraping off old paint and the next day they came out and cleaned up yard around the house.

+ -1 moreI called and then received an estimate by mail; After comparing with 2 other companies, I decided they were the probably the best, as I relied on the customer satisfaction survey as well. It was a great choice! They gave me a discount for being on Angie's List (which more than paid for the subscription to Angie's :); They were very professional and prompt. And, it only took them two days. The icing on the cake though was I was talking to one of the painter's at the end and asked if they left me a little paint so that I could paint my mailbox. He said sure, and then turned around and told the other worker still their to go out and paint my mailbox! It wasn't a big deal to them, but boy, was that nice. It made my day.

We had a little problem with the type of window that was being replaced, but they took care of it with no questions asked. I would use them again in the future and would recommend them to others.

+ 0 moreDid a great job, and we were very pleased with the siding. The job went slow, but we were pleased with the quality of what they were doing all along. We had to do some complaining with the painting, but they came back and re-did what we were not happy with, and we are now very happy with everything. They could have paid a little more attention to finding nails in the grass because we found many after they had left.

They brushed and rolled the entire home which left us with no over-spray. Jeff and his associates work very hard to make sure that we were happy with the work from start to finish.

+ 2 moreThe company was highly recommended by several of my neighbors. I then checked Angie's List & read the good reports, so I felt I did not need to shop around. I was impressed with the packet of information that was mailed to me along with the estimate which included a DVD, giving me much more info on the company. The crew were polite, professional, thorough & very hard working. They did an excellent job! Jeff also stopped by the first day to check on everything. I've had neighbors stop by to tell me how nice everything looks. I can't thank them enough!! I rate the company & the crew a TRIPLE A PLUS!!!!!!!!!!!
Description of Work: Dave & his crew powerwashed, replaced rotted trim, primed & painted my house & deck. Jeff was kind enough to drop off a color wheel to help me decide on the color. It took me longer to decide on the paint color than it did the crew to complete everything! Once I gave them the color, they were out the next day!! There was an area on the side of the chimney that was rotted but was not noticeable. Had it not been for Dave's thoroughness, it would have been missed. Because there were several additional things that needed to be done & extra areas I wanted painted, I knew the final invoice would be higher than the original estimate, which was okay. I really appreciated Dave's professionalism & honesty. It was truly a great experience working with somebody who is very conscientious about his work!! That's hard to find these days!

+ 0 moreThe sales representative that came out was very informative. We had to have some things specially made like the Atrium door. The workers were very clean. I would recommend them to anybody. They did get the job done in a timely fashion. There were no problems at all. Everything seems to be working properly.
Description of Work: They replaced all the windows in our house with the new vinyl, double pane glass windows. They also installed an Atrium door. There were about 15 windows.

+ 0 moreReal well. I was impressed when calling in the office and talking with the owner himself and his staff (Brenda Hostetter) and their responsiveness. The 3 man work crew did a good job and was very interested in doing a good job. The roof is very steep and was difficult to work on when painting the dormer and chimney. I only found a few minor places that looked like they could have been touched up. There was some drips of paint on the windows, which came off with scraping with a finger nail. I did notice a couple of drips on the brick as well. They replaced a couple of boards that had rotted and then caulked the window trim that had allowed water to get behind the boards causing them to rot. I had a couple of miniature bayberry plants that had been stepped on either with a foot or ladder, but other than killing a few branches it did minimal damage. I would definitely use them again and would refer them to others, as I already have.
Description of Work: I have a 5 year old, 2 story brick home and had JD Hostetter paint the trim, including the non-brick dormer, chimney and trim around the bay window and large front porch.

+ -1 moreI used this company last year to replace a few rotted trim boards. Called for an estimate when we were considering exterior painting. They look at the project and provide estimate in the mail. I called Jeff with a few questions and he called back same day. I signed the contact and provided 1/2 down and they got it scheduled within 3 weeks (early Spring painting job). Antonio and a crew of 6 or 7 were here every day weather permitting. He kept in good communication throughout the job and asked me to inspect at the completion of the job. Through no fault of theirs, one container of paint was mixed a slightly lighter color. Antonio caught it and pointed it out to me (I could not have seen it on my own). He worked it out and repainted everything to match. After the job, Jeff called to make sure everything went well and that I was happy. He also wanted me to know that we could call back for anything we see later. It was a good experience from start to finish.
Description of Work: Powerwashed, caulked, painted (2 coats) the exterior (siding, trim, gutter) of 2 story wood siding home.

+ 1 moreIt went better than expected. The weather did not cooperate but the company worked very hard and was able to complete the project very quickly. We were hoping to have it done by late May and they finished it in early May. We will use JD Hostetter again and would highly recommend them to friends. The proposal that Jeff submitted was very timely and thorough. It gave us all the information we needed and more than we expected. The website works great too. One day, when the weather forecast was a little uncertain, they called to let us know they would not be there that day due to the weather.
Description of Work: JD Hostetter prepared the house (power wash, replaced some wood, etc.) and painted the house including the gutters and downspouts and trim.

+ 0 moreSatisfied with their work overall. I coordinated the onset of this work from overseas. Jeff and Brenda both were responsive to my emails which helped. They were able to tighten up the schedule a bit since my time home to supervise the work was limited. The painting did take longer than originally quoted. There was typically only one guy and sometimes two painting at one time which slowed progress. The paint looks good and the gutters are functioning as expected.
Description of Work: Scraped, caulked and painted home exterior. Removed and replaced all gutters and downspouts. Installed Leaf Off gutter covers. Work done July - August 2007.

May the 7th they did contact us about a correct estimate but we had already had the job done. Mark Collins was the contact and admitted there was an error with the estimate. It was 3 or 4 days before we got the first estimate and then a few weeks before he called and said he had the wrong estimate.

+ -1 moreThey responded to my request for a quote. Visited my home. Prompt. Friendly and professional owners. However, they do not verify US Citizenship of all workers - they tell me their workers are not "employees." Their "Leaders" get their own help and Hostetter has no control over who their "Leaders" use. I didn't want people that are not US Citizens and who do not pay taxes painting my home. I refuse to contribute to those people's well being. I was told by the owner that "they would be out of business if they didn't use "those people."

Description of Work: I called JD Hostetter to get quote on replacing damage to home from strong winds. I told them that there were two strips of metal near the roof on both sides of house were damaged as well as a few missing roof shingles. They came out promptly and then sent me a very professional written estimate complete with DVD about the company. According to their estimate, I needed new soffit and fascia and roof shingles which would cost $3,240.00. This estimate was over ten times the cost of two other estimates I had received. The other companies just felt that two strips of flashing and a few roof shingles needed to be replaced. I had work done by BK Home Improvements for $285.00 and was very happy with the work.

Several different workmen were involved in the installation, and all seemed experienced and were pleasant to have around. Jeff Hostetter is a delightful person to work with. He was very responsive to our concerns and was also very patient while we spent considerable time in choosing a color scheme for the house. This company has my highest recommendation in all categories.

+ -1 moreWe bought our house when it was badly in need of a paint job. Jeff worked with us and actually charged us less than his original estimate because he felt we did not need as much wood siding replaced as he had originally estimated. He was not able to oversee our job closely as he was very sick at the time. However, he listened to all of my concerns and went out of his way to fix them. We were not living in the house when his team was painting it. His team had taken off all the old storm windows and said they weren't worth putting back on. However, when I asked him to see if we could reuse some of the old windows for a few years because new storm windows were about $200 a piece, he sent his team back from Carmel to sort through the windows. I was concerned that some wood that needed to replaced had been painted over, and he walked around the house with me and sent his team out to replace a few boards I pointed out.
Description of Work: The company scraped and painted our 1917 house in September.

+ -1 moreOverall it was great. We are, like most people, very leery with such a large project. What a waste of worry.
Description of Work: After over a year of speaking to several companies about Pella (wood) replacement windows for our older home we chose J D Hostetter & Associates. We called several times with a great deal of questions and were given informative answers and suggestions. We had 5 basement windows (not Pella) and 12 large windows (Pella wood) in the rest of the house. The custom made order came in when we were told and the installation took place when we were told. Four men showed up and all four worked. Even when it began to rain toward the end of the day they still did the rest of the windows. We were told they would be back the first thing in the morning to do the caulking because light rain would have interfered with it sticking properly. The first thing the next morning they were right here finishing up. They cleaned up after themselves, had no problem stopping to answer questions during the work and were the most comfortable professional crew we have ever worked with. Very Very pleased!
