Didn't do much with the company b/c the seller I bought the home from found them, but one day I left for work and when I came home the job was done, no mess to speak of at all and no leaks to date!

Overall, it was good. After my initial call for an estimate, Jeff came right out. He gave me a quote, and then followed that up with a mailed copy with literature. We decided to hire them, and called in to schedule an install date. I was told that I had to pay 1/2 down before they would schedule the work and also sign a contract. I paid the 1/2 down right then over the phone, and signed and mailed the contract the same day. They said that they would be in contact with me to set up a date. I got some more paperwork in the mail with a "job completed" date of August 31. I just assumed that is the date they had picked for me to get the work done. I signed it and mailed that back too. Then on August 19, I had just returned home from running errands and was getting ready to leave again when their truck showed up. Two gentlemen got out and said that they were here to do the gutters?! What a surprise, I wasn't expecting them at all! They said that I was scheduled for that day and time, and could they proceed with the work. I explained that I would not be here since I had made other plans for the day, but if they could work without me being here, go right ahead. So, when I returned home, the job was almost completed and looked great. It was rainy that day and the guys worked right through it. They did forget some parts, and they had to wait about an hour for the owner to drive the parts out to my home. Otherwise, the job went smoothly. The gutters look great, and we are very pleased with the work quality.

The painting crew did an excellent job. They first scraped and caulked the exterior, then power washed it, and finally began the final painting. They arrived when they said they would, worked hard all day, and were very pleasant and professional. I am delighted with their work.

Generally very happy with the work, especially the price and how quickly they were able to get the work done under the circumstances. My house was built in the late 1800's, it's in the historic Chatham Arch district,and there was quite a bit or repair and replacement of old damaged siding that was necessary. That work was done well. A lot of prep work was also required before the painting could begin and the crew appears to have been thorough in that work. My only complaint was that they left wood planks they had brought for replacements, if needed, on the grass in my yard for a long period of time and killed the grass underneath it. But, I re-seeded and now have grass there, so not a huge problem given the rest of what they had to do, and did well.

Jeff Hostetter was very professional and easy to work with. He kept me informed as to start date, which was delayed a little due to rain. His crew did a great job with the prep work (sanding, priming, etc.). I was worried about my foundation plantings getting trampled, but there's no evidence of any damage. The crew kept the area neat at all times.

This work was completed in June 2007, so this report is very late. Things may be different now. They came, completed the painting satisfactorily and left. A couple of days later I noticed that when they cleaned their equipment using an outside faucet, paint was splashed onto our new siding. I called to see if someone would come and remove it. My call was not returned. The painting was good, the cleanup was disappointing.

Overall, they did an outstanding, high quality professional job. After research on Angie's List, I contacted them, and they prepared a very professional estimate. I am very pleased with the workmanship. I love the windows with the full screens and low e-glass. I would highly recommend them because of their customer service, high quality windows, and attention to detail. When they completed the job in less than 2 days, it was ready to move the furniture in and enjoy.

He called to see if he could get the project started earlier than he had anticipated. It worked out well for us and for them. The crews that came to work were hardworking and careful of our surrounding item. They completed the work in a minimum amount of time.

They were very professional and efficient. They always cleaned up each night before they left. They provided exceptional quality work and paid really good attention to detail.

I called for a quote, they came right out. I received an impressive packet in the mail with the quote. There were lower that a couple other quotes that I received. They were flexible in scheduling and worked around some brick work I had to have done. They called the day before and said someone would show up the following day, but they showed up that day instead. It worked out OK for us. The did the work in 2 days and did a pretty good job. I was surprised that they used a subcontractor though. The van just said "Painting Contractor" not "JD Hostetter". When they called to ask it the job was done, I said there were a couple of items to finish. They were waiting for me when I got home that evening and fixed every tiny thing I mentioned. They cleaned up and were gone.

They did a great job. Crew was here for about 3 days and completed the job quickly. The house really looks nice.

Never did sign the contract for the siding. Tried to get the mini-barn work done. They missed so many deadlines and failed to keep so many promises and respond to any visits, voicemail messages, and web-site contacts that we finally just gave up. They promised to work out an insurance claim as part of the pricing for part of the job, but failed to do that either. Actually had the mini-barn scheduled, but they never showed up. In the meantime they had sent a contract that was different terms than they had represented. They did not respond to our counter-proposal. We got several excuses why they could not respond when they promised (usually health related). We would have liked to use them for this work because their price seemed fair and they were a local small business, but it became obvious there was a reliability problem. Also missed at least 2 appointments to visit for estimates.

We needed to replace some windows with southern exposure, because the wood had deteriorated. It seemed that there were no notes from the owner/estimator regarding WHICH windows were to be replaced and which were to be repaired in place. We had to figure it out after the windows arrived. The interior trim molding was removed and re-used. I was not happy with the dents, gashes, and cracks in some of the trim afterwards. I think they could have been more careful with the custom woodwork. I will have to patch and sand it before I repaint. One window left a half-inch gap between the window trim and the drywall after the new window was leveled. The crew left it that way. I called the owner, and he had them return to caulk the gap.

Did not see much time spent on prep-work, but the siding was new cement board. Owner not around during work. Mediocre at response time for calls after work started. Crew bent a section of gutter. Owner of company had entire section replaced. Paint looks nice. Crew seemed clueless about opening gate in the fence when our dog was outside. Just noticed a broken vent on the side of the chimney that they broke and did not tell me. They did not mention the gutter either, I saw it while they were packing to leave.

They were very good. They gave me an estimate quickly. Their price was better than anyone else's. They were easy to work with and they scheduled the work quickly. It did take a little longer than I thought it should. Once they started there were some gaps in the work when they would disappear for a few days and come back. That is kind of how it goes, and other than that they were really good.

Jeff Hostetter is a honest business man. His crews were hard working and respectful of your home. We had several problems along the way and they did try to resolve the issues. We ordered Pella windows. One of them came in broken which delayed the installation. JHA stained the windows in their shop. The quality of the staining is not good. The windows are not installed to the Pella recommended procedures. They insist their method is better. I don't agree. The windows were installed without screens. Some of the screens had to be re-ordered because they were missing. Our old windows had sills. The new windows were installed without sills. We were informed it was not part of the window. JHA replaced the sills at no cost. The quality of the staining on the sills was very poor. We asked that they be redone with Pella sill material and we would pay for the change. We made a mistake and ordered the wrong windows for the garage. JHA discounted these windows to us. At the time of installation, they replaced the sills. The sills were not installed properly and the staining was terrible. The stain is full of dust and fingerprints. The sills are barely nailed and the corners are not rounded. Instead of replacing them for the third time, we agreed to accept them at no cost. Other problems included schedule delays and un-returned phone calls. I wrote to JHA twice about the problems. I wanted to give him a chance before I posted this report. He did not respond. If you are after top quality, I cannot recommend JHA. Updated 4/4/2011 In November 2010 I reached out to Jeff Hostetter regarding our windows. I told him that I had been monitoring his ratings in Angie's List. I stated I couldn't believe that so many people had so many good things to say about his company and what a bad experience we had two years ago. We were still having problems with the windows not locking and loose sills. Much to my surprise he called me right away. He wanted to send someone out to inspect the windows. He sent out his window expert Kurt to assess the problems. Kurt agreed that the installation was poor and that he would talk to Jeff. When Kurt inspected the windows, he asked why we wrapped the outside in white aluminum. We said the previous installer told us that was all that was available. He did some checking and determined that wasn't true. Pella offered material that is a match to the window color. Jeff called and said they wanted to make the windows right. He thought it would be a couple of weeks but as it turned out it was a couple of months which was okay with us considering the winter and the cooperation. Kurt came out on a Saturday and completely wrapped all of the windows with the right color, adjusted the windows to operate and lock and repaired the window sills. The quality of his work is top notch. We are now very pleased with our windows and they look and operate great. I am pleased to say that my initial impressions of JHA were incorrect. I would recommend JHA to anyone looking for window replacements. All of this work was done at no cost to us. Everything you read about JHA is true.

Mr. Hostetter gave a prompt response in coming to the house, assessing the job, giving an estimate and following through with a contract. The estimate of time given to the job within a months time frame due to cancellations of another customers job, we were contacted to see if the crew could begin work on our house that day. We agreed. However as it was labor day week-end, we had previous plans to be out of town. This was somewhat uncomfortable for us to be out of town while work was being done to our house. As we had not anticipated that work would begin so soon, we had to do some preparation immediately such as trim bushes, remove plants and outside furniture. The crew members were very patient and worked around this. As the windows were closed due to our being out of town, they were all painted shut. When we returned the workers promptly scheduled to return and free the windows and complete some details. They were courteous and responsive at all times. We were pleased with their painting job and would contract with this company again.

I liked that they cleaned up and did not leave trash in the yard. I liked that they explained all of the work to me. He followed up with you and walked around the job. They even called me one week later to make sure I was happy.

I was impressed during the estimate by the direction of the work they were proposing, and I was looking forward to hearing from them regarding the project's cost. They suggested that they would break it down in categories, so I could do the work in stages. However, after over a month, I still had not received my estimate. So, I called them and they apologized and emailed it to me that day. Unfortunately, they emailed me a lump cost, rolling all the separate costs into one, contrary to what we discussed in our meeting. I called them and asked them to break it down for me like we discussed, and Chelton said that he would do that and get back with me after Labor Day. I never heard from them again. I'm frustrated by the wasting of my time.

I really liked the people he had working for him. They finished all of the work, but there were a few things that still needed looking at. The project manager quit working for them in the meantime, so these things that needed to be touched up didn't get done because the owner of the company wasn't aware that the touch ups had not all been done. I got a hold of the owner and he sent someone out to finish the work. He felt really bad that he hadn't been informed about these last few things though.

It was not a good experience. They did not live up to my expectations. His professionalism was good but the professionalism of his workers was not up to my satisfaction. The presentation and quote were very slick. But the workers were not all that was promised. It seemed that they were trying for speed of completion rather than quality work and doing a good job.

At first I hired J D HOSTETTER & ASSOCIATES to paint the exterior of my house and after they pointed out deficiencies in workmanship from another company that I hired to repair the roof and rotten wood on the exterior of our house, I hired them to complete the work that was not done properly by the other company. The painter was very patient with the time it took us to decide on a color, he even picked up some samples of the colors we were thinking about and painted a few spots so that we could see what the colors would look like. The painter was very professional and, other than minor cleaning that was not done, he kept the place looking great. We spent a little more on the paint and got the premium paint with the lifetime guarantee. We are happy that we did. Dave Sweat did a great job and was very honest about the work that had been previously done on our house. He gave us some good pointers and did an excellent job with the repairs that our previous hires did not complete. He even pointed out what our roofers failed to complete and inadequately repaired. I would defiantly rehire.

They did a wonderful job with the painting, and were good about taking all the preliminary precautions. They got the job done quickly and were also very helpful in taking care of some other small jobs around the house, which I was very pleased with.

Work was done in one day. The windows look great and have stood up to the weather without letting any air or water in.

The work went very well. All of the doors were installed in a single day and the crew was pleasant and professional.
