We had a handyman come out last year to paint the trim on our house; unfortunately he never finished the job. We were skeptical about having someone out again to paint. Our trim was left half painted until this year when my wife and I decided to try again. After reading reviews on Angie?s List, we decided to contact J D Hostetter and Associates. We are glad we did! A couple days later Mike showed up, on time, and immediately described the company, their goals, and licenses they held along with a packet of information. He then asked me what we wanted done. At first we were set on just having the unfinished trim painted. We even told him that we had left over paint that could be used. He stated it was unusual for them to do that, but he was more than happy to do that if that is what we wanted. He listened to us and was willing to just paint the trim that wasn't previously painted by the handyman. We decided, since he was so helpful, we would ask him to also include a quote to paint the entire house trim. I received the quotes the next day via e-mail. I did get another lower quote from another painter; but after looking at all the work J D Hostetter and Associates included in their price (power wash, scrap off old paint, replace rotten wood, one coat primer, one top coat of paint, and caulk) we decided it was worth the money. We knew that sometimes you get what you pay for. We also decided to go ahead and have them paint all of the trim. After we filed the paperwork and got a date set, July 22, we got a call from our other contractors about some roof work we were having done to the house. The roofing supplier prices were going up July 1. We needed painting done first. It started to look like we would have to pay more for our roof. I e-mailed them and explained the situation. One of their staff e-mailed me back right away. He was able to re-schedule my painting job to meet my new deadline. The new deadline was still a week or so away when I got a call from Mike. He asked if it would be ok for the washing crew to come out (on a Saturday!) and pressure wash and then have the painters come out the next day (on a Sunday!) to paint. I was shocked! Wow, painters on a weekend! I gladly accepted. The crew came out on promised dates. They were friendly and cautious. They used drop cloths everywhere they were working and even covered my plants. They did an excellent job! I watched the entire process and was very pleased with how everything was done. They even cleaned up little paint splashes left be the previous handyman. Everyone I communicated with was responsive, friendly, and helpful. I am very pleased with the job they did. The house looks like new! I will definitely call them for next time!

Contacted the company in March, and they weren't able to get out till May to do the work, considering weather and I imagine their busy schedule. Once the work was finished, it was well worth the wait. Our home has wood trim, windows and eaves, and aluminum siding. They did an excellent job of painting - we were impressed with the workmanship. They exactly matched the paint chip colors that I gave them and caulked every joint around the home. We had two windows on a shady side that were rotting out, and told them not to worry about them, as we would be replacing the windows sometime next year. When I did the walk around with the foreman, I noticed the rotted window sills had been replaced and he told me he had a guy who did that so they went ahead and replaced them for us free, even though these were not in the bid. They cleaned up all the site. Their bid was not the lowest, but it was not the highest, and we based our selection on their Angie's List reviews. We have since recommended the company to three other friends and they have been equally satisfied. One thing I would recommend, which we did do following their recommendation -- remove all plants and flowers from around the house and transfer to pots and plastic bags in the backyard the week before the work is scheduled -- and we also relocated all drip irrigation lines. They covered all our permanent bushes and shrubs while painting, but because of the number of workers around the house and the trampling of the beds, glad we did this. We were able to put all the landscaping back in after they finished, and our neighbors have commented that it looks like a new home. We will probably hire them to paint the interior rooms of our home soon.

They provided an estimate in a timely fashion, but the fact that they need 1/2 the quoted price up front on a $250.00 repair, seemed out of place. We asked the salesperson (who was very nice and professional) why we couldn't just pay the relatively small price in full once the work was complete, he simply cited that this was company policy. Not impressed with there company policy!!

They are number one all the way around. They were excellent.

Jeff came out to give us an estimate. He was very thorough in his inspection and answered all our questions. When the painting crew arrived they worked quickly, thoroughly, efficiently, and cleanly. There was not even any damage to the flowers planted around the house! From start to finish this was an exceptional company to work with - pleasant phone calls, good follow through, efficient work crew. Our house looks great and we couldn't be happier with the entire experience!

Overall job went as expected. One minor difference in expectation was promptly corrected. All work was done neatly and professionally.

They were very punctual. They did a good job. When they saw that they had to replace not only the gutters but the fascia boards were all rotted, they had to replace those. The tail of the rafters was rotted, so they had to put boards between the rafters and fasten the fascia board too and they also put up soffits. When I got home after they had done it, I noticed that there were no vents in the soffits. They were out that evening to put them in. No questions asked. I was very pleased with them. I will continue to use this provider again in the future.

I called the company to get an estimate and was told the owner would just come by on his own time to do the estimate. Since I work from home I said I would prefer to know when he would be showing up. The young lady on the phone said, "Well, I will have him call you and set up an appointment". I waited two days and still had heard from them and then I get a call that they do not service my area?It takes two days to figure out you do not service Bloomington?I did not think that was professional at all and am glad I will not be using them.

I contacted Hostetter and 2 other companies because they all had A ratings. I can't remember exactly when we talked, but it was sometime the week beginning 3/12. I received the estimate on 3/15. It was the highest of the three. The company I chose responded with an estimate in 1 day. I noticed they had quoted 2 coats of paint and the others had quoted 1 coat. I asked for a re-estimate on 3/16, and received it on 3/18. However, I had already decided to go with another company, and the re-estimate was still the highest of the three by several hundred dollars.

We knew that the trim and siding on our house needed paint. We also knew that some of the boards needed to be replaced (especially south-facing) and some spots needed repair (woodpecker holes). We received quotes from 3 highly rated companies ranging from just painting, to fixing and painting, to total replacement. Based on conversations with the vendors and quotes we decided on JDHostetter because of the cost, rating, and gut feeling about their representative. Also, we liked the fact that some of the work that we were willing to do was presented as line items in the quote for us to accept and reject based on our willingness to do some work ourselves and save some money. Communication was excellent in advance and everything was set while we waited for the weather to break and our turn in the queue. They called the day before to tell us they were coming, double check what they were doing and to confirm the paint color and finish preference. Then the crew descended on our house. Prep work, board/soffit replacement, hole repair, priming, and two coats of paint all happened in one long day (thanks to a large crew, hard work, and daylight savings time). A couple days after the fact we were called to ensure we were happy with the job. We were very happy with the work except for one spot where a wooden patch I had put over a woodpecker hole was painted instead of "fixed." I informed the company representative that our only disappointment was that one spot. Two of the painters from the crew came back 2 days later and fixed and repainted the hole to our liking, no questions asked. Time will tell but for now we are very happy with our experience.

2/3/2012 Garage estimate on time and best solutions to our bee and woodpecker problems with the garage siding. 2/28/2012 Side door replaced with fiberglass door with windows. Wonderful fit and installation. 3/1 to 3/7 Removed old siding and hauled away. The construction team is quiet and professional. Had to ask that a cart of new construction debris be removed from driveway. They came out and moved it quickly. Siding painted and caulked well, matched our house color very well. Mike Hull helped us through the entire reside even though he had laryngitis. I would recommend this company very highly. Their customer service is outstanding. .

It went extremely well. We'd had the house exterior painted a few years before by a two-man outfit, and they did a horrible job. JD Hostetter and Assoc. got the best and most reviews on Angie's List, and they exceeded our expectations on our paining job. Jeff Hostetter came out and did a very thorough inspection of our house's exterior and offered us some very good advice. We signed the contract and picked out the colors we wanted. The crew that did the prep work was great. I was concerned about possible damage being done to my landscape beds that surrounded the house, but they were very careful. A day or two before they arrived, I had cut all the shrubs back a bit and tied them up with rope so the painters could work around them and so they wouldn't get damaged. Several of our wood windows were showing signs of rot in the lower corners, so we ordered replacements. The guys installed them, and as the house painting had already been completed, the painting crew came back to do the second coat of paint on the windows. They did a very good job cleaning up afterwards, with little to no damage to my landscape plants. The house looks great!

It took me awhile to make up my mind on the type of windows and door I wanted. So, I had a lot of questions. I truly appreciate J.D. Hostetter's patience with me through the process. Kurt and the installation team did a great job and I'm really pleased with the appearance of the new windows and the door.

They by far had the best quote/price. The work was excellent, they were very punctual, and cleaned up well.

Overall, I thought they were good. Their price was reasonable. The quality of work was excellent. They were very responsive and very professional. I was very happy with the work. I would use them again.

We called him because we had a leak in our kitchen in October. He kept saying he would come out to fix it, but never came. The spot kept getting bigger and bigger. I called him again on 11/29 to tell him the leak continued to grow. Due to weather conditions, he was unable to get on the roof and said he would fix it the next week. He asked me to provide some buckets and he would place them in the attic to hold us over until he can make the repairs. We continued to get rain, and the spot kept getting larger and larger. My son and I went up to the attic to check on it, and realized he did not even put the buckets under the leaks. While I was up there, the ceiling fell through and made a huge mess. The insulation and everything was all over our kitchen floor. I slipped on the wet rafter and the ceiling fell. I then called him again, and even though he originally told me he was the one who placed the buckets, he told me that it was one of his employees "Wally" had done it, could not find the leak, so just put the buckets at the top of the stairs. He can lie better than anyone I know. I gave him two weeks or I would call my lawyer. He then sent two roofers out on 12/7/2011 and found there was a leak around the chimney due to problems with the roof installation. There was no flashing replaced when they first put on the roof, which was the reason for our leak. They had to replace a whole sheet of drywall in my kitchen since there was so much water damage. Everything is taken care of now, but I had to threaten to call my lawyer before any repairs were made.

I found them through Angie's List. They did a very good job. They were the contractors. There were no dislikes. They did an exceptional job. They were very quick. They did what they said that they would do. The workmanship was of a very good quality. It was much better than what was originally done. They were A1 on everything.

The workers from J D Hostetter & Associates Company were timely. They were good with their price and the quality of their job. The siding and painting work they did is holding up fine. I would use them again in the future.

Wonderful Job!! The painting crew was so polite, efficient and very talented! The prep was complete and professionally done! They even provided a paint color specialist to help with choosing the right color for our home!! BIG plus!! The window installation went just as smoothly!! When you need to spend a lot of money on a project, it helps to know you chose the right company to do the work and we most certainly did!!

JD Hostetter did a fantastic job painting the exterior of our home and putting in windows. When I had questions or concerns, they were right there to make it right with options. Part way through the job, a rain shower came up early in the morning. The team was there to cover up my exposed surfaces to ensure my home was not impacted. I was very impressed and grateful for such competent and thoughtful craftsmen.

Thanks to Angie's List I found JD Hostetter (Jeff) and Associates. My husband and I chose them from three estimates because Jeff had good recommendations, a fair price and he did not pressure me, did not try to add on extra jobs or threaten me that if we didn't sign up the day of the estimate I might lose a certain time frame when he could do the work. His manner was friendly and professional. He gave us the estimate and left it up to us to decide. After considering all estimates we decided to hire Jeff. He got busy and got a crew out to our house as soon as he could. The crew showed up on time and worked very hard all day despite the heat and were finished by the end of the afternoon. The paint job is perfect. We were so pleased that we hired Jeff to install new gutters and downspouts (we originally had someone else in mind to do the job). Jeff set a day for the gutter work to be done and again, just as he promised the crew showed up and completed the job....talk about professional work the gutters and downspouts look great! Jeff keeps his word and is honest. Also, through out the days as I had a few questions that I wanted to ask I would call the office and talk to Brenda. She answers the phone. Brenda was always courteous. She would tell me that Jeff would call or that she would get the answer for me..Jeff would call just as she said he would. I was always kept up to date and it was a good feeling to know that they were always working on our job. I felt that we were all working as a team!! I recommend JD Hostetter and I would hire them in a minute for future jobs.

Jeff' was thorough in explaining everything he was recommending and providing options or additional information when i requested. As a woman handling the majority of this project it meant a lot to me that Jeff's team was extremely professional and efficient. I had no issues communicating with Jeff or his team leaders and they also cleaned up way better than I expected. We could not be happier with our new roof, gutters, soffits and downspouts.

Awesome work! They were prompt, easy to work with, and I can't even tell where the new siding is on the house it is a perfect match. They were the most reasonable quote we received and did an outstanding job. It's nice to work with a company who remembers what customer service is and prides themselves on a job well done, not just done. We also got some quotes for replacement windows that were extremely reasonable.
