J. D. Hostetter and his crew did a great job. They answered all my questions and did a few up grades that I asked them to perform. My house is eight years old and they were able to track down the exact siding that was used. They followed up with me to ensure that I was pleased and satisfied with their work. They had no issue going that extra mile.

JD Hostetter responded quickly, did the work beautifully (can't tell the new shingles from the old) and charged us 45% less than the initial estimate we received from another vendor.

Our roof had come to the end of it's life and we were looking to get it replaced. Rob came out to do an estimate the next day and we had the quote in email that afternoon. After we signed the paperwork, we just had to wait for good weather, and yesterday they completed the entire process in one day. Roof looks great and everything was picked up around the house. We were very happy with the service and speed.

Working with JD Hostetter has been a very professional and pleasing experience. It started with our initial contact with their staff who took our service request and scheduled an estimate. The staff also kept us informed on the timing of when the painting would be scheduled and any follow-up requests that were made. Their estimate was very competitively priced and the work to be done was completely explained. Even better was the quality of their work. You don't often feel like you received more than expected...this was one of those times. The paint crew arrived on-time, did professional, quality work, and completed the job in a timely manner. We had some rot in the porch railing which was identifed after the work began. Even though this was not in the estimate, JD Hostetter replaced the rotted boards. This year, we are selling our home and had some additional repairs which needed to be done. Due to the poor weather, we had trouble getting other service providers who were willing to handle a relatively small job. JD Hostetter responded immediately and once again handled in a prompt, professional manner. We are very pleased that every interaction with this company has exceeded our expectations. .

We own a historic home in the heart of the Meridian-Kessler neighborhood in Indianapolis. When it comes time to repair our gutters and downspouts we rely only on the work of the professional crew at JD Hostetter. We appreciate so much their commitment to quality and service from the initial call for estimates to the clean-up after the work is done. When you contact their office for information about a repair or home improvement they immediately identify the professional on their team with whom you can speak directly about your questions. Both Mike and Jeff have been prompt, thorough and attentive to our needs from the initial site visit to the conclusion of the project. This spring, we started working with Mike to address gutter concerns throughout the exterior of our home, and he determined that in fact we did not need new gutters -- instead just stronger hangers and screws to extend the life and function of the seamless ones that still had good life in them! Mike assembled the crew and contacted us to schedule the work when it was convenient for us since it involved over a day of work. The crew was noticeably focused, on-time and explained the work they were to complete, frequently updating us as to the progress. When the work was completed on time at the end of the day, they guided us through all the completed repairs before we signed off on a job well done. Submitting a payment for services was also surprisingly easy, I was glad to have a few options for finalizing the payment - phone, mail, etc. I knew that JD Hostetter was a highly rated service provider on Angie's List and also that they had completed work for many of our neighbors, so we were pleased that their service met and exceeded our expectations! To add to that, this winter we decided it was time to replace our copper gutters with seamless ones to match our home and we turned again to JD Hostetter. Mike responded with an estimate which included a fair price, and various add-on options and prices. He reviewed the project with us at a convenient time, discussed pros and cons, and took time to answer our questions. When we needed to make a schedule change for the project, it was no problem. The professional crew arrived and worked through a light snow to complete the work. They moved two downspouts to help save the foundation of the garage as well, which was a huge improvement. Since we have a clay tile roof, they took extra care when attaching the leaf-guards to ensure that there would be no damage and to have the right fit. We know that this took extra time and effort on their part, but it is this kind of service and attention to detail that don't want to leave to just any crew. Now as we prepare our home for market, we are turning to JD Hostetter for additional projects and exterior painting, based on their professionalism and jobs well done. We would highly recommend their services, work and professional manner.

Our house was built in 1986 and was painted 7 years ago by a different company. We paid $2,500 and were satisfied with the job, but this time we chose JD Hostetter based on a neighbor's praises and the high marks they got on Angie's List. The job took less than a week. We were totally satisfied with the professionalism of their staff, the quality of their work and their attention to detail. They even picked up tiny paint chips that landed in our mulch! For the size of our house and the condition of the wood, we were amazed they could do the job for the price. We would recommend JD Hostetter to anyone needing this type of work done on their home.

They promised two coates but I think they only did one coat.

They did a great job. I did have a couple pieces fall off within a week or two of completing the job. It took a couple of calls and emails, but they got back out and fixed all the issues as well as rechecked the rest of the house. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Only time will tell on the quality of an exterior paint job as it has only been one month, but we are happy with the outcome so far. The crew teamed up and painted the exterior trim in one day. They hustled and did a very nice job. The crew was friendly. We were not as pleased with the color of the trim which doesn't match the siding very well on the back of the house. The color match was taken from a piece of trim that had mostly been hidden from the elements and was likely closer to the original trim color. Would have been better to more closely align the new trim color with the existing siding color. We did say we wanted to stay with the trim color already on the house, but both the trim and siding has faded over the years. So, it would probably have been best to match the more weathered trim than a piece of unweathered trim. Communication was weak trying to coordinate the date. I also asked for an additional quote by email for re-caulking around our windows and never received a response. Other than the color mismatch on the rear of the house and weak communication, we are pleased so far with the quality of the crew and the paint job. We did get three estimates and Hostetter was the least expensive by a couple hundred dollars on a $3000 trim paint job. We will certainly use them again. * Oh, one thing to be aware of. If you have a rusty metal frame piece above your garage door as most houses do, they will not paint that piece. I had to primer this myself and then paint it to match the trim with the leftover paint they gave me. The other companies that quoted the work all said they would paint this rusted metal piece. The crew told me that Hostetter would not. Not a huge deal, but be aware of this going in.

THIS COMPANY IS AMAZING!!!! Jeff and the entire team are such terrific people and we would absolutely work with them in the future on any project. We contacted him for a quote after the April hail storm. From the moment he came to our house for the first meeting, we felt so comfortable with not just him but every worker he had out here. We had the siding, gutters, screens, and roof replaced and every step of the way, Jeff was there to make sure the job was being done correctly and never once did we worry it wouldn't be. I could go on and on about how they made a stressful situation much more calming for us, but the best thing to say is that anyone with similar problems should absolutely, without a doubt, call this company. This contractor is the best I have dealt with. Their bid process was professional and very competitive. We contracted for a roofing job and exterior painting. The roofing team replaced the home and garage roofs in ONE day with a quality job. The roofing team was very professional and delivered a quality roof replacement. Same experience with the painting team. The team prepped in one day, and an extensive painting project was completed in two days. The painting team was great to work with, extremely friendly and cooperative. And they provided a great paint job. I would not hesitate to hire this contractor again and again.

Office Staff - No problems. Given the amount of money I was paying, I was very particular as to the language of the contract, and in the end, they agreed to the changes I was insisting upon. Once the company received the acceptance, we were on the schedule and they started on the scheduled day with some delay due to weather. Crew - Everyone was hard working and professional. On their final day on site, (the only day I was around), I walked around several times to inspect both the work and the workers, and at no time did I see anyone not doing something. The crew lead was David and he listened to every issue I raised (very few). Unfortunately, my Spanish is quite limited, but I was able to get across to the crew members how much I appreciated their work. David was the only one that spoke English. The work - I had this house painted several years ago, and a similar amount of T-111 and trim replacement was needed. I paid roughly half of what I did for this job back then, and the attention to detail and the quality of work done by this crew made it worth it worthwhile. After the pressure wash, they went around checking each area, seemingly nail by nail; replacing what needed to be replaced and then caulking edges of everything else to keep moisture out. There were even some areas which surprised me by needing replacement, but they showed me the pieces to demonstrate they knew what they were doing. This portion of the job lasted 2 days, with one worker on the house until darkness on Friday. As I mentioned, weather was a factor, and I was getting worried. It rained Saturday and weather was going to get cold and wet in 48 hours. However, to our surprise, a full crew of 10-12 painters showed up at 9am Sunday and got started.They were all over the house (several neighbors standing outside watching) and by 6pm they were done - mostly. We had a new two-door front door which was white and it needed to be painted a dark raspberry. Those doors took 6 coats of paint (Perhaps a darker tinted primer next time?) At one point there was four or five people working on the doors simultaneously trying to get them done. They didn't stop until 7pm when they left and it was getting dark and cold. I spent another 20 minutes making sure that the paint on those doors was dry using my own heat gun, because in the cold, I wasn't 100% convinced they were not going to stick. They turned out to be fine. It's been several days and I've walked around a number of times and I've yet to find a spot that was missed. Additionally, I've yet to find a single nail. They had a magnet on wheels they took all around the exterior picking up nails in the grass which took care of that nasty problem. All in all, an excellent job and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Price was competitive. Quality of work and materials was excellent. Jeff was prompt in all follow up. Highly recommend.

We had a few weather delays, but the team from JD Hostetter really does a superb job. Very quick and excellent workmanship. I got a lot of great comments from my neighbors about how great the house looks. Will definitely use this crew again.

1. We had Hostetter come to the house to provide a written estimate. We wanted to know how much it would cost to replace all of the rotted cedar on our house. The estimate was 4 sheets of T111 and 36 linear feet of trim pieces for $1300.00. Their contract stated that if additional rotted wood was required that it would cost more. 2. The estimate was provided in July. They were not able to get us on their schedule until Sept 6. 3. Their installation crew arrived on Sept 6 as scheduled and immediately said that there would need to be 11 sheets of T111 replaced. That was NOT in our budget. It was nearly 3 times more than the estimate. We told them to leave, that we could not afford that much siding. The installer called their office. It was decided that they would do the work per the quoted cost. 4. After 1 1/2 days of work, the crew said they were finished. The work they did looked very good. They seemed to have done a great job cleaning up after them selves. 5. When I inspected the trim around the kitchen windows on the first floor of the house, I found wood that was still rotted and had not been replaced. I called Hostetter and they came out to the house promptly so I could show them what I saw. 6. The original estimator saw the still rotted wood under the kitchen windows and agreed that it should have been replaced. He said that he did not understand why it wasn't. He said "That is not us. Maybe the whole mix-up with the siding scared the crew." 7. The estimator said that since Hostetter had already agreed to do so much work (11 sheets of T111 versus 4 sheets) that they were not getting paid for, he could not agree to send his crew out to finish the job without getting more money. 8. I told him that there were other places on the house where I suspected there was rotted wood. But, I cannot get up on a ladder to check and he did not have a ladder with him. He said he would come back to our house with his crew leader and re-check everything. 9. He said any additional trim pieces that needed to be replaced would cost $5.00 per linear foot. Not knowing how much rot they would find, I agreed to pay up to $500 to replace up to 100 linear feet of wood. 10. We both agreed that was fair. Hostetter returned to our house on Sep 18. They inspected the house and found only the wood under the kitchen windows was rotted. They replaced that. It was about 10 linear feet or less. While inspecting the house they found some wood on the roof that they had left behind from the previous work. 11. We exchanged some emails about the total work and scope. 12. We received a bill for an additional $500. So, that was 10 times what I was expecting. 13. I do not think Hostetter was dishonest in any way in dealing with us. But, for whatever reason, despite best efforts on both sides, there were communication failures. 14. We will not use them again and we will not recommend them. But, again, I believe this was a communication issue. The work was good.

AMAZING job!!!! Fast, high quality, no mess...very nice people!!!! Hire them on your next house painting project. I know we will be hiring them again!

This contractor sets the standard high for the competition. They did a very good survey of what needed to be done before they bid on the job. They came out and assessed what needed to be done after they got the bid. They made sure they had a accurate account of the paint colors and did a very good job of matching the color of the new vinyl windows we have on our house. Their carpentry work is very good and they did a great job of replacing all of the rotten wood exposed by the power washing, and all of the new wood was primed before the final color was applied. They made sure they got answers to take care of any doubts or questions before they moved to that step in the project process. In a few words the workers and foreman know their jobs and what they need to deliver, and they work very hard. Would definitely use them again.

JD Hostetter & Associates was the low bidder by far. They were excellent to work with and answered all my questions, and I asked a lot. They provided me with a detailed estimate of all the services they would perform and then they gave me a timeline to complete the work. Here is the most important and impressive part. The project came in at the estimated cost, no surprises, and they met their timeline. It's nice to have a contractor who keeps their word: they have integrity. An issue did develop with the shutters, but Jeff came out the next morning, on a Saturday, and looked at them and had it resolved by noon: customer service exemplified. Their roofing crew was very conscientious, they used tarps on the ground to catch debris and plywood leaned against the windows and over the bushes as protection. My new windows look great.... I am a very satisfied client who highly recommends JD Hostetter & Associates...

This is an outstanding company from management down to all of their workers. They work from dawn to dusk to get the job done and to do a very good job. The company was a great communicator and always got back to me. Office staff was also great and efficient. I just can't say enough about the great experience I had with J. D Hostetter and Associates

Mike and Jeff, the owner, came to our house to check and measure the house last year. They saw the siding problem immediately ( it was not done properly from last workers). Since I was away for a long period of time, I did not have a chance to do the project. After the hail damaged this year, I contacted the JD company for the assessment again. Mike came to our house several times since last year to answer my questions and concerns, all these made me feel they ere trustworthy co. I decided to let them start the project. I am happy that I chooses their company, their crew were responsiveness and punctuality was good.

Requested the quote through Angie's List, rather than contact them directly. They responded within 24 hours requesting e-mail address and phone number to contact us directly, rather than communicate through Angie's List. So, they made it personal. The quote was done timely, the information packet on the company they gave us was professional, and the estimate was detailed and priced very reasonably. 'We ran into two major issues: 1) The darn weather would not cooperate, so the work was delayed about 2 to 3 weeks. That was not their fault, but they stayed in touch and kept trying to tentatively get us on the schedule. When the work started, we ran into issue 2) the stain that we had purchased ourselves (thinking we would do the project ourselves) was not working. It was thinning too quickly, didn't match the color on the pre-existing parts of the pergola and was starting to become a problem. Work stopped almost immediately and we communicated with Mike that the stain wasn't going on well. He came to inspect it himself and came up with a solution. He purchased new stain and refused to charge us. Said he shouldn't have agreed to use our stain in the first place. Don't expect to get this when you hire them. This was a tricky situation using materials that we had bought. He offered to spot for the new stain and we got it all done. We had a deadline of 7/31 for a client party we are hosting on 8/2. He sent up 3 guys with the new stain as soon as the weather broke and gave us a window. They knocked it out in one day and did a good job and cleaned up very well when they were done. All in all, while the project took longer because of the 2 issues, it was a great experience. I argued with the office admin to pay for the additional stain, but they argued back even better. They wouldn't let me pay for it. Top notch company. Will hire them for more work when it comes time.

The crew was here early each morning. They did a very great job and cleaned up very well after themselves we wouldn't have known we had any work done. Their job took about a week which is what they said I would pay. Mike was very easy to deal and talk to over the phone. When I had contacted them to tell them that we'd do the siding but not the painting at that point in time, he was very surprised and when I explained that there was a big price difference between his quote and somebody else's, he totally understood. He didn't hold that against me whatsoever. He totally understood why we'd go to somebody else with a lower estimate.

Quality of work is fantastic. We have a large screened in porch that had just been re-screened last year and I was concerned on how they could paint it without getting paint all over the screen and it is perfect. They cleaned up at the end of each day.
