For the creative mind and drive behind Jacoby & Associates, Greg Miller found a passionate approach to home renovation design based on his own experiences. In the late 1990’s he spent a lot of time renovating his various properties with the help of other contractors. Throughout the renovation process, he noticed two common types of contractors. The first type of contractor usually had great design ability, but lacked real world practicality. The second type tended to have excellent craftsmanship, however lacked in design creativity.
Our clients expect innovative designs that best serve their everyday lives. Balancing creative and practical design with top notch craftsmanship allows Greg to consistently provide a high level of one-on-one service, and communication our clients expect.
Greg understands that quality outweighs all, which is why he utilizes the talents of a tight knit group of craftsman. Only taking on a few projects at a time allows Jacoby & Associates to focus on the smallest details of a project. This approach allows us to promise that once your project is complete, the only thing you’ll be able to say is “I’m so glad we did this!”

Description of Work: Dan from Jacoby and Associates custom fit granite for a counter top on a bar. He showed up as promised, produced a beautiful piece of granite and followed the not so easy install. I would recommend them with no hesitation and will use them in the future for other improvement projects!

Description of Work: I had engaged Jacoby & Assoc. to provide a complete demolish & remodel of new bath & 1/2. I specifically spoke with owner (Greg Miller). I chose J&A based on my meeting with him & plans for the remodel. Only later did I learn Mr. Miller misrepresented himself and that I was to be decieved. The project went on 1-1/2 months longer than projected. I never saw actual 'scaled' drawings of the project (my fault). I did not ask for any. However, I did see several hand drawn 'cartoons' that Mr. Miller provided to me of what "was going to happen." Mr.Miller stated he would treat my home as "home" & not a "worksite". Nothing could be farther from the truth. My home was a disaster & clearly a worksite!!! The workers from beginning to end never used visqueen and/or plastic to preventing dust, debris from involving the entire house. I even sent pictures to Mr. Miller letting him know of my extreme dissatisfaction. I had no clear direction as to what I was going to pick out for the project. Twice I made appointments to meet him at tile store & twice, something came up & he couldn't make it. I had to communicate with the workers (Not Mr.Miller)as to whether or not the workers were coming in the next day to work...or not. The workers had complete access to my house via house alarm key code/fab, etc. Twice they left & did not set the house alarm and secure the home. On one of the occasions, I was out of State & didn't know it until my return. What made it worse was that one of the workers had utilized a toilet & didn't flush! Gross!! |Twice more, I left the key & alarm fab out & the workers did not show. The workers themselves were awesome & Professional...Truly Craftsmen at their art. But the frustration of doing business w/ J&A wasn't worth it. At ALL. Mr. Miller was willing to meet me at his convenience (or when he was picking up a"draw check"). If it wasn't convenient to him, we didn't meet. I provided access to his workers to my building for a "staging area" & requested 1 parking bay be left open. That didn't happen. I was forced to park outside of my own building. Workers used my tools & belongings w/o my permission. Someone had damaged a leather chair in my family room by leaning equipment next to it. Mr. Miller offered to "make it right" by reducing the contracted fee to some 'other' amount. I didn't want to be paid off as if my frustration with him was a monetary issue. It wasn't. I stated I wouldn't pay any less than what I signed the contract for. I lived up to my end of the bargain & paid in full what was expected. What two sayings come to my mind are "Promises are meant to be broken"(quite contrary to J&A websites homepage) & "Buyer Beware." Get EVERYTHING in Writing...& I mean EVERYTHING. If you want a contractor who is great at making excuses, than I say, "Go for it!" Mr. Miller is your man.

We believe any successful collaboration needs a foundation of communication and attentiveness. Hundreds of past clients can attest to those premises being present throughout their projects, providing them with satisfaction in the results as well as the process. Now being recognized as an Angie’s List Super Service Award recipient for the third straight year is a resounding testament to that communication and attentiveness from those clients. For this project, drawings were provided and discussed, including floorplan and elevations. As with all of our projects, a detailed Scope of Work was provided, discussed line by line, and signed by the client. When critical decisions or details came about, options were provided and discussed as they should be. As with any truly unique, custom renovation, obstacles and decisions arise. In this case, anything varying from the original plan was deemed a seemingly catastrophic failure on our part rather than an opportunity to improve upon the original plan and/or make a better choice as things unfolded. Unfortunately, our collaborative attempts only resulted in an abundance of disdain and conjecture. We want nothing other than satisfaction for our clients and we made multiple attempts to provide some measure of that here. Those attempts were vigorously met with a preference to bypass satisfaction and, rather, hold onto contempt. It pains us to know we were the source of such intense emotions. We sincerely hope that you can take solace in enjoying what you described as a beautiful finished product with expert, quality craftsmanship.

Description of Work: We contracted Jacoby & Associates for a kitchen remodel. In the planning/quoting process Greg Miller was very patient and responsive to our questions and needs. He followed up weekly and presented viable options in our decision making process. Because of his dedication to us we decided to contract Jacoby & Associates even though the price was 1/3 higher than the competitors. We thought we were hiring a knowledgeable and professional contractor. The demolition of our kitchen went well, but the remodel process was disappointing. The hardwood floor was laid prior to leveling the floor, we came home from work and walked on an uneven floor with raised area's throughout. We called Greg and requested a meeting so he could see the poor quality of work. The floor was fixed in some area's but we still have uneven area's which is apparent when you are walking with no shoes. The glass backsplash for the kitchen and bar area was installed unevenly and there were area's where the glass was cracked. We requested the backsplash be fixed, it took some time but Greg sent the same contractor who originally installed the backsplash poorly. I was home the day they were fixing the backsplash and observed them place cardboard pieces between the tiles in lieu of spacer, I kindly requested that work cease. Greg finally contracted a preferred tile installer from the Tile Shop to fix the backsplash. We have a spacepak airconditioning system which has tubing in the ceiling and outlets installed in the ceiling. One of the outlets needed to be relocated in our dining area. When the relocation was complete my husband and I noticed the air flow from the outlet was slow so we looked in the attic and noticed the tubing which was installed to the new outlet was not tubing, it was a make shift tube made of trash bags and duct tape. We notified Greg and requested the tubing be replaced with the proper supply tube. Greg praises that he uses only professional contractors, in our remodel we received unprofessional work. Also, read the contract before signing even though you discussed each item in detail with Greg. There were several items left out of the contract that we verbally discussed and agreed upon with Greg, but it failed to make it to the contract. Long story short, if you use Jacoby & Associates inspect every bit of work, do not trust what the hired contractors tell you.

We approach every project with every client with a spirit of collaboration and service. Our dozens of reviews as well as hundreds of satisfied clients will attest to that. As we do with all of our clients, we presented our proposal via a highly detailed scope of work document that clearly outlined what we would be doing and it was reviewed line by line. However, as with most any custom project, options and decisions arose throughout, either specific to the initial plan or as new possibilities unfolded on an already challenging project. When we presented the options and possibilities, they were typically met with an adversarial and accusatory tone rather than a more productive collaborative spirit. Finding a common ground on these various items became quite difficult. In the end, despite the need for some out-of-the-box thinking and creativity on some challenges out of our control, we are quite proud of the project - the kitchen and dining area turned out beautifully. I truly feel that had the clients allowed themselves to see that we were on their side in achieving this, they would have felt much differently about the process that lead to this wonderful end result.

We were pleased with the service, we love the bathroom. The timing was a little bit of a problem, but I had issues too, so I think that was as much my problem. We got out of the contract as my mother was sick, and then I think it was hard for them to fit us in. That was the only issue, but I think that was mostly because of our situation. I think it was our issue at first, but them getting here, it could have been better. They weren't the least expensive, but we were really happy with what we got. We would recommend them to a friend or family member.

Jacoby & Associates recently completed a kitchen and bath remodel for our home. It was truly more than that, however. From the first meeting, Greg Miller met with us and listened to our goals, asked about lifestyle - how we used the spaces, entertaining, size of family gatherings, etc. He then returned shortly with some pencil drawings of a kitchen design, along with some additional ideas to open up our space, that were much better than the 3D "fancy" renderings presented by others who we contacted. Greg was always responsive, either to voice mails, texts, emails or whatever. He was on site daily. His team of workers were all professional, friendly and helpful. Greg has a small but extraordinary group of sub contractors with whom he works. Nearly every one we worked with was just as responsive and helpful as Greg himself. From granite and tile, to the amazing Amish cabinet makers, the quality of work and the assistance and guidance received was top notch. When we originally started our project, Greg gave us an estimated timeframe for completion. As we progressed through the project, we began adding additional items to the project, including a new stairway, front door, entertainment cabinetry for the family room, etc. Even with all of these additions - none of which were small things - the project was completed within 10 days of what was originally promised. We have already recommended Greg and Jacoby & Associates to friends and neighbors. Should we ever have another project, he would not be the first person we call. He would be the ONLY person we call.
Description of Work: The full scope of our project ended up being: * New wood floors throughout the first floor * New kitchen (taken down to studs) * Relocate laundry room to 2nd floor * Remodel master bath * Add en suite bathroom in son's bedroom * New master walk-in closet in garage attic space * New front door * Remodel stairway (new wood treads and risers, rails, etc.)
All employees were very professional and did an outstanding job. All the work was completed at a very high level of quality.
Description of Work: Completed a basement finished product started by another contractor. Did all final trim, painting, plumbing and electrical finishes.

Description of Work: Greg Miller with Jacoby was wonderful to work with. He was very organized and detailed in his quote and draw schedule, very helpful with design, very organized, and had an outstanding work team. The quality of the work is very high and he has identified a key group of outstanding partners for the project (granite, lighting, marble, cabinetry, etc.). His communication during the project was also outstanding. We communicate by e-mail or phone literally every day during the work on details of project, suggestions on plumbing or lighting fixtures, design/color suggestions, etc. His crew were very professional, did quality work, and cleaned up every day. Greg's attention to detail and his interest in making sure everything was done to a high level of exactness and that everything was to our satisfaction was very noteworthy. We felt that my wife, Greg and myself became a design team, looking for very interesting and period appropriate design concepts. We have a historic Victorian house and were doing a complete tear-out of the kitchen and upstairs bath above the kitchen. We used a small bedroom also above the kitchen to expand the upstairs bath and create a laundry room/closet space. There was major rewiring and plumbing work involved and Greg coordinated the various stages of the project very well. We would highly recommend Jacoby for any quality remodeling work.

They were terrific. However, I decided to go with another company, which I liked better than this company. The owner came out and looked at the property. I would recommend him to anybody. I will consider his services in the future.
Description of Work: Jacoby & Associates LLC gave me an estimate for remodel of the bathroom, a month ago.
I was very pleased overall in comparison with the previous renovation projects where we used different contractors. I was not happy with the previous contractors but with this one I was very pleased. They were very responsive and were easy to get a hold of. They were more professional in general. They seemed more considerate of the fact that they were in my home. They weren't being more intrusive as much as they could and were good.
Description of Work: I used Jacoby & Associates LLC some time in the past fall for remodeling. They renovated most of my first floor of my house. They removed built in plasters and the insulation. They reinstalled drywalls, flooring and had to work on the fire place. They did the painting as well.

They did a great job! Their imagination and design ideas really made them stand out to their competitors. They listened to our thoughts and ideas and, but still used their creativity to come-up with a unique plan. Their craftsmanship was also very good, as was their clean-up. They protected the floors and tried to keep the dust to a minimum. We received 3 bids for the project and theirs was the highest, but we really liked their creativity and approach to our project.
