It was okay. I paid for the service. I had to pay extra for it. They brought it in the house and put it in. It was an extra service. I got what I paid for. I can get products that I can't get elsewhere. They have a wide range of catalogs of things that the manufacturers provide that you can't typically get in a retail location.
Description of Work: They delivered the furniture in the house and put it in the right location in the room. They took away the material that was trash. It was for a couple of chairs.

DirectBuy is totally awesome. I got quotes to get my kitchen remodeled and DirectBuy is about third the price of everybody else I got quotes from. They're so helpful. They're literally unbelievably helpful. They'll go out of their way to make sure that they got all your questions answered and everything you need. They're very very personable. Everything an "A", no complaints. They're incredible.

All went exceptionally well. We had assistance with the kitchen design and were able to order everything needed through Direct Buy. The assistance received made the process painless for us especially being we were out of town for several months during the renovation. We found Direct Buy to be most accommodating. We are extremely satisfied with the quality of products and the work performed. The staff is most professional and friendly. We also realized a huge savings. The job was a total kitchen redo. We purchased cabinets, granite countertops, onyx backsplash, stainless steel appliances (refrigerator, range, microwave, dishwasher), sink, fixtures, and flooring for the kitchen, foyer, and powder room. The cabinetry order included moldings and necessary spacers. All work was performed by contractors recommended to us by Direct Buy and all were very skilled and most professional. The work was performed as scheduled. The trades persons asked appropriate questions as needed which caused us to feel comfortable. We are very happy with the end result and absolutely love our kitchen! Direct Buy has promotional specials now and then which we have also taken advantage of. We definitely plan to work through Direct Buy for future renovations.

My wife and I had decided to remodel our kitchen and sunroom so we started by contacting a couple of the Direct Buy contractors. Then the fun started. The flooring contractors were not reliable and seldom showed up on time if at all. So we decided to price everything ourselves and begin working with the kitchen designer. However, since we needed to take out parts of two walls to expand the kitchen and give it an "open concept" appearance we were told that we needed to hire a general contractor. Not having much faith in the Direct Buy contractors we hired an outside contractor which was Greg Spivey Construction company. He was very good. Still since we had paid about 5k for a three year membership we decided to at least try to buy our cabinets, countertops and appliances through Direct Buy. We continued to compare prices as we went along over the next three months. We knew exactly which appliances we wanted and we needed to replace everything. The remodel was a complete tear-out and rebuild. All the way down to the light switches. Every time I came across an item that I wanted I checked with Direct Buy and I found that I could buy it for less somewhere else. We put in new lighting,floors,cabinets, sinks,faucets, countertops, and appliances. About halfway through I just quit checking with Direct Buy because I could always seem to find it for less online, or through my new contractor. The few times I did find something for less through Direct Buy the difference was not enough to make up for the inconvenience of having to drive 20 miles to pick it up or the cost of delivery. I was so angry with myself for throwing away five thousand dollars that I didn't even want to make this report to Angie's List. I thought I was smarter at my age. On a positive note. Direct Buy does have quality items from some good brand names. But even they will tell you that oftentimes you can find it for less on sale at your local stores. So... Let the buyer beware! If they pressure you to join you have to sign the contract and pay for it before you leave the store. No second chances. No three day buyers right to cancel and no time alone to reconsider your contract.
Description of Work: The company used a very high pressure sales tactic to get me and my wife to join. We are both in our 60's and thought we were smarter than to let this happen again. I was so embarrassed to have been taken in that I just didn't complain and decided to give them a try. I was convinced that I was going to save enough to recoup my 5k for joining. Not so.

Genta, The Franchise owner, is great and very helpful with any issues that may arise. All of the staff from the show room to the receiving warehouse are extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the products. If they don't know something they will call the manufacturer and help you get the information you need. I will continue to purchase through DirectBuy.

Many people purchase tile and save! The selection is amazing. Our members can shop at Daltile and pay a fraction of the cost that they charge to a non DirectBuy ember. In addition, we have built relationships with architect brick and tile and the floor club. We have installers that are licensed and bonded. They are on Angie’s list too! We carry any type of flooring. Hardwood, laminate, cork, bamboo, carpet, engineered, vinyl, luxury vinyl. Keep in mind we also have samples that can be taken home to match with your home. We will have the padding and grout you will need to install these products too! On Saturdays we have a flooring installer here to help answer any questions you might have. In addition, he will install and measure at a discounted rate. We have several installers that can help with any project. It went excellent. The installers came in a timely manner and did a great job. There was absolutely no call back needed. Everything was clean when they left, and it was just an excellent experience overall. I've used them before to remodel our bathroom, and saved a lot of money as their pricing is better than anyone else. On them you get to pick the higher end products for less money. I'd highly recommend their services!

Called them on a Saturday afternoon... child picked up the phone. (later learned it was owners child, age 6-10) after a couple minutes of confusion someone finally answered and I said we wanted to stop in and learn about Direct buy. They seemed baffled of what we wanted to do.. I explained.. Just bought a home will need to buy furniture and wanted to see what they have. Invited us by.. we showed up walked In and a woman came out to us and reeked of cigarette smoke.. took our breath away! she started selling right from the get go.. How amazing the prices they have and how stupid people are to buy from a retailer. the style was that of an old door to door pushy salesperson who you cant get a word in. She got agitated every question as if we interrupted her groove. My wife and I both said to her...WE GET IT!!! ENOUGH of the selling of the concept... please!!! We ARE interested! We agree its better to buy through you! What does it take to be a member? She was annoyed and said ":WE ARE NOT THERE YET! and kept selling showing us how much we can get diamonds for through a membership.. We wanted furniture not diamonds! No questions to us, no understanding of us.. just selling selling, selling. My wife and I fee like they sell scared.. I Said to her: IF ITS SO GOOD WHY DO YOU SELL SO HARD!!!! Owner came to us: Met with us and was professional and friendly but almost an attitude of like.. we don't need you.. kind of the opposite of the sales person who was desperate. He was like.. we got big time names who work with us NFL, etc... To say the least we got out of there with the skin of our teeth and never went back! I BELIEVE THEY OFFER GREAT DEALS BUT NOT THE PARTNERSHIP WE WANT.

Thank you for your business for the last ten years, we appreciate you! We believe all members join because that want to save but for service too. The service staff at Indianapolis does try to provide the best possible service. In fact, there are webinars’ on specific suppliers that are able to be watched so when members do have questions they can help answer. In addition, there are some manufacturers we can call directly to get an answer a member may need. No question is denied, the service staff takes pride in following up and make sure they answer any question that a member may have. Also, on Saturdays there are vendor days. This is when a vendor is invited in to educate the members on their products. Being a member for 10 years makes us feel great because we know that you know that DirectBuy is a great way to shop! In the ten years I am sure you have saved thousands of dollars and have seen DirectBuy make many changes. The website is probably one of the best changes in those ten years. Members now can shop from home from almost anything. In fact almost 25% of all orders are placed on line and this is very easy for the members. I am sure the manufactures have changed to we carry low end products and high and it all depends on what your purchasing. We do know that if you’re making any purchase we will help you find a product you love. Thanks for being a member and we look forward to seeing you in the showroom!

The people are very nice, but it is a large investment. When going for the preview, be aware that you only get one time to make your decision and it can be high pressure if you haven’t thought it out. Make sure you are aware that when you buy things, you have to add a fee percentage for the local franchise and the freight.

First, I think it’s important for you to know that shipping and handling fees may apply to certain items – but not all. The fees enable members to receive below market freight, timely delivery and inspection of all merchandise to ensure first-quality condition. They have really expanded their operation in terms of what you can get. They have contractors come and work through them. You get a lot of savings as members of directbuy. You do have to do some homework, but the savings more than make up for the membership cost. They are the nicest people to deal with too. We've always been very happy. I would encourage anyone to get involved with them.
Description of Work: You name it, we use directbuy for it. We have been a member since the early 1990's. You can go and find comments that say it is a scam, but it is not! It is kind of expensive to join, but it is worth it! You basically shop out of catalogs, and you get brand name stuff. You can compare prices, and sometimes you may be able to find something cheaper, but they are up front about it. It is just an alternative to shopping out. The ideal time to join is when you know you need to make a major purchase. When we first joined, we needed to buy all new furniture for our new home. We were able to find the Lexington furniture we wanted for $6,000, whereas in the stores it would have been around $11,000. This past year, we had some major work done, and we went through directbuy to get all of them. One project we had this past fall, we had to have our house carpeted, and hardwood flooring put in. You're talking full carpeting and hardwood floor which would normailly have been about $18,000, and we got it for around $10,000 through directbuy.

We took advantage of DirectBuy offerings from Jan 2010 till January 2013. The membership cost us $5,000 and we had to spend about $35,000 to recoup the fee in savings over other prices generally available through wholesale houses (like Lowes, Gregg?s, Fry?s, etc). There are additional fees charged by DirectBuy that may have been mentioned during the wooing-period but had been underestimated or understated depending on your point of view. In all, ?Nobody? pays MSRP anymore. The Advisers/Consultants are generally knowledgeable, and Holly Denihan is a gem. All products are high quality, no exceptions. In a shop you get to take your purchased home, with DirectBuy you may have to wait several weeks before your order is received. DirectBuy is not a warehouse, but a ?Buying Group? for members. The entire staff is most helpful in any way. It is our opinion that DirectBuy is a good deal if you have major acquisitions in mind. For the occasional big-item shopper, the dues are not worth the savings. Approximately how much did it cost? C-Fair. Our membership fee (covering 3 years) was $5,000. Other memberships are now available, but were not in January 2010. We are letting our membership lapse, having completed the remodeling of our the house. Continued annual membership rates would be $200/Year, and I do not think we will acquire objects costing $2000 or more over a 1-year time-span. Overall, in our case, we remodeled a kitchen complete with all cabinets, appliances and furniture, covered a basement office and adjacent bathroom with tile. Plus, acquired hardware to remodel another bathroom. In detail, Kraft-Maid cabinets for a 13? x 13? kitchen were $15,000, appliances (GE Profile Line refrigerator, oven, microwave, induction cooking surface, dishwasher, exhaust hood and fan, Samsung cloth washer and dryer) were $12,000. - Lowes quoted the same kitchen cabinets, appliances and installation for about $5000 more, so all the other acquisitions below came with a savings. Granite counter-tops $3000, installation including electrical work $5000, floor tiles were $1500; Kohler Commode, Kraft-Maid vanity base and Xylem glass vessel sink plus other Delta shower hardware $2500. Overall, we have done well, but expected even better.
Description of Work: We had been remodeling our house extensively and thought the reduced prices offered through DirectBuy would save us much money.

Member Well, we appreciate your feedback. We are not sure what you purchased but have NEVER heard of members having to spend 35,000 to recoup their costs. We find it hard to believe with the projects you did that you didn't save your entire membership in the kitchen alone. Members save more than 35 % on cabinets and counter tops, 50% on flooring, 25% to 35% on large appliances and 45% on plumbing. We would be more than happy to do a cost analysis for you to show your savings. In fact, we are curious because it should NEVER talk a member to spend 35,000 to recoup costs. We are very happy you used Holly and she was able to help you with a kitchen. Gem is a perfect word to describe her! We have no idea if you had forgotten but we do disclose all fees that are included when you place an order, including handling fees, sales tax and freight when you join. In fact, it is also printed in your membership packet you get to take home and on the contract that you signed. We now have a pricing promise and we will beat any price out there! In fact our corporate office is being proactive and researches this daily. We are sad know your not going to renew. We would hope you would reconsider. You did join more than three years ago and we have had a ton of changes. We NOW have a PRICING Promise! In addition, club exclusives that are on line insane deals you just can't get anywhere. We have tons of smaller items that you can save on like shoes, shirts, luggage, pictures, pots and pans, dishes, glasses, cell phones and this is a small list of items. Most members save at least 200 hundreds dollars in the savings they have on gifts for holidays alone! Please reconsider and we would be happy to renew your membership for free! I originally became a member because our son was going to re-do our basement and use their supplies. However we did not use them because they only had high-end products. They were high-end at a good price but there was no in-between. They really don’t give you the time to make your decision to join and I truly feel like it was a poor investment.

Very good! We have been members for almost 23 years. They have very good prices, large purchase items like furniture and we use them a lot! We pay an annual fee to be a member, but the savings we get when we use our membership are recouped. They have a good variety of products and they have some really good brands for cooking supplies also. They ship directly to your house for smaller items!
