Indianapolis Contracting

Tom Pulley, the owner, was responsive and helpful with estimates and questions. Once I made the decision about shingles, siding, colors, etc...he did the work right away. Everything was subcontracted except the roofing and the work was done in August 2007. The window wraps and trim were sloppy and the work unacceptable. In September his subs came out to make repairs and made the problems even worse. In October, Tom came out to look at the work and agreed to redo it. His subs came back in November but didn't make the repairs as agreed. In December, I had a home inspection to document the problems, and in January I sent a letter to Tom requesting that he either do the work with another subcontractor, according to the inspector's recommendations, or we would go to mediation to negotiate a settlement. In February. he sent another team and they performed the work correctly. Tom has never called me, but at least it finally got done correctly.

No one else would answer my calls. They came the same day I called. They did the job, I don't have anything to compare their price to, but it was a bit expensive. They did a good job because our roof hasn't leaked since.

They did a great job. They were reasonable and honest.

The gutter covers look different on each side of the house. We asked them to take a look at it and they said they did, but it looks like one was installed correctly and one just got smashed down at the end of the gutter. The gutter that they repaired was sagging and full of water. They pulled the end up and nailed it in, but that just made the water collect in a different spot and sheet down the front of the house when it rained. They came back out and said the gutter board was rotten, and it was going to be $377 more to fix it all correctly. The guys showed up at 3pm on a Friday and pulled the gutter down, as well as all of the soffit. Then it started to rain (another contractor we had out the same day had stopped working because rain was coming). The wet gutter slipped and bent one of the covers they'd just installed. They did replace it before they were done. Our house was left open overnight. They promised to be finished by noon the next day, and didn't get done until after 3.

Proposal was given Wednesday. Accepted on Monday. Work started and was completed satisfactorily 4 days later. I was amazed.

They were very slow in calling back to address some issues that I had. They did finally correct it, but it took too many phone calls.

Overall, the work went very well. Mr. Gros arranged for the special removal and disposition of the old roof. He explained things well. The Indianapolis Contracting roofers worked, as I wrote above, hard and well (they had to deal with, among other things, thousands of pieces of DaVinci rought-cut slate put up in a staggered style). Several structural problems were detected along the way (after the old roof was removed) and fixed, within the original budget. They accommodated special electrical work in the roof. Mr. Gros found perfectly designed old-style copper-work. We are delighted with the the work of Mr. Gros and the Indianapolis Contracting slate-roof team.

The first time he came out, he did some extensive repairs. Several months later, we noticed that it was still leaking. We were a little upset, since we'd spent quite a bit for the first repair, but we called in and they came out and caulked the chimney soon after. He made the repair without any additional charges.

This was a busy time for them after a wide spread hail storm. They were very rushed and that might have affected the quality.

Tom came out and examined our roof and carefully explained his findings. He noted that some buckling in the front of the house might indicate the need for some decking replacement. I accepted the estimate and materials were delivered promptly. The work started a few days later and initially took about two days. I was concerned that our shubbery was not covered and some shrubs took quite beating from rubble falling on them, but overall the work was done quickly and well. I was dismayed when Tom came to settle the bill and told me that the workers were supposed to have replaced decking but did not. That was not good news, but I commend Tom for his honesty; many people would have said nothing. The crew returned quickly and tore off part of the roof, replaced the decking and replaced the shingles. Overall, I was pleased with the job. I would just say that I would like to have a job done right the first time. These days, that just never seems to happen.

They were the lowest bid we received. They did an excellent job! We had some minor problems and they bent over backwards to make sure we were satisfied and it was done correctly. There was some nails that came through the ceiling and a leak from a our roof and they fixed both at no additional charge.

This work was done during the busy season. I think they did a very professional job and they appeared to interested in doing the work satisfactorily to the customer.

The screen person they sent was not that good. He yanked the metal frames without taking all of the screws out. When he left some of the screens were not completely stuck in so he had to be called back. He was not employed by the contractor but was sent out by them. He was the only one who did not do a superb job.

The work was performed quickly with good clean up. They did an excellent job with the roof. The aluminum work was generally good but not the quality of the roof.

They were excellent. Very professional and on time. Their workers were very knowledgeable and polite. They really know how to put roofs on! I would use them again.

Tom Pulley responded to our call promptly. He was very patient and excellent in explaining how his men would replace our roof. We were concerned with leaks around our chimney and he took care to explain how they would flash the chimney with their technique. Tom was very professional, very polite, a true gentleman. They completed the job in two days as they said. Tom worked with our insurance agent to get the additional monies needed to complete the job as needed. We are very pleased with our new roof, it looks beautiful. We highly recommend Tom and his company for any roofing job. His men were also very easy and polite to work with.

We dealt with David Burton who closely oversaw the work. Several of the workers spoke little English but the foreman, also Hispanic, spoke good English. Work was completed efficiently and in a timely manner. Dealing with David was very easy. He is very professional and pleasant. We were very happy with the process and the outcome (of course we haven't had a big storm since but a couple of good rains).

I think they did a very satisfactory job and I am pleased with their work.

Estimate was timely, contractor leased with insurance co. and agreed to do the work for the amount estimated by the insurance co. After several weeks, suddenly a work crew appeared with supplies and equipment and started tearing off the roof, replacing it in a timely manner. When a couple leaks were noticed, a crew came back promptly and fixed them. Our siding was about 20 years old and could no longer be matched, so the contractor worked with the insurance co. to get complete replacement covered. Again, the siding people appeared with no notice, did the work well (while we were out of country), and left. Cleanup was generally good to excellent, with less than a bucket of debris from all the jobs. We've no quarrel with the quality of the work performed, but felt disrespected by the fact that there was no notice before the work crews arrived, and communication with them was minimal, hampered by our speaking only English.

When we first called we were told that someone else would have to call us back multiple times. The owner talked to us and gave us another estimate and said if no one else could do it he would. Again after no one came out, I called and asked him to come out, which he finally did, but the leak remained. They had to come out a total of two times and the leak still is not fixed. We are going to have to call another company.

Both roof and shutters were to have been replaced within 2 days. Roof replaced in one day, crew left and did not return on day 2 and no phone call from company. Shutters took more than 1 week later. That would have been okay if we had been notified, but we had to call them three different times to get updates. They always said shutters would be installed the following day, but then did not come or call to tell us the status. When job was completed 1.5 weeks after starting work was perfect and we are very happy. Tom (from company) was very polite.

Friendly and fast estimate. Had it in my mailbox within 24 hours of request. Went with another company who had done work for us before and came in with a lower bid.

We were not please with their work. The gentlemen that gave the estimate was prompt initially, but they stood up my husband or change appointment to sign the contract several times. We were at the point that we were going to go with another company if they didn't meet with us. They said that they wouldn't leave a dumpster on our property, but they did leave it while they worked. The measurements taken were not correct, and Indianapolis Contracting wanted us to pay the money to them and then negotiate with the insurance company. Before they said that if there was a discrepancy that it would be between them and the estimators. They did the roofing but didn't replace the back screens and wanted to be paid in full before it was done. They also put the gutters on backwards so the seams were showing and my husband fixed it himself. They did replace the screens, but used a lesser material than was on our patio before and now they are sagging and will need to replaced again.
