What is amazing to me is when some Angie's List customers, individuals who pride themselves on honesty, integrity and the like, write reviews like this. First, any Angie's list customer who reads this will likely be intelligent enough to read between the lines and gain an understanding of what actually happened. Second, the first time we heard from this customer about this issue was when they posted their nasty review. Manuevers like this can only lead me to believe that the customer did not want a solution. Third, if they actually thought that this was "our fault," we would have heard from them requesting a solution. Rather than re-write the story of what happened, I am going to embed some comments below. In September, I purchased an Angie’s List Big Deal coupon for one hour of plumbing work from Hope Plumbers. The only reason I decided to stray from our regular, trusted plumber was that 1) this was a good deal and 2) the job that needed to be completed was relatively simple. Our upstairs shower had been leaking for a couple of months and I thought that the Big Deal coupon would be a huge cost savings for us. Boy was I wrong! (We are sorry that what you had hoped was a simple fix, was more complex.) To begin with, the front office seemed rather unorganized. (At best, this seems to be a dig. Customer expressed no concerns to us until this nasty review was posted.) When I was trying to schedule the appointment, it was obvious that they were busy that day. (Busy is actually good.) I was placed on hold for some time and then was finally able to make the appointment. (Sounds like we were having a busy day and Annette did a good job of balancing all of the calls.) The day before the appointment, I received a phone call from the same individual that scheduled the appointment and she explained that no information, other than my name and phone number was in their schedule. (This is an honest mistake and that is why we called back to correct the problem.) So, I had to repeat all the information for a second time. (Repeating "all" of your infomration does not seem like an inconvenience worth mentioning.) I was cautious that they would even show up to the house the next day, but they did. (I just don't understand this at all.) The plumbing technician showed up to our house as planned. My husband explained the problem to him, the plumber took a look at the leaking shower and determined that we needed a new unit and that he couldn’t identify what unit we currently had [made a comment that it was a lower quality unit]. (Yes, this is exactly what happened. We identified a leak on an old and inexpensive shower valve. Rather than work on the inexpensive valve and continue to have problems, we all agreed that it would be best to replace the valve.) Until the new unit could be installed, he tightened up some loose bits and was on his way. My husband had to remind him to give us an estimate for the replacement work. Mind you, in order to have this done, we would have to go out and buy the new plumbing fixtures, and they preferred Delta, and then schedule the appointment. For $650, the plumber would come out, replace the unit [which we purchased beforehand] and then repair the drywall. My husband was not impressed with the plumber as he seemed to be in a hurry [he was at our home for a total of 20 minutes]. (I have never understood why people want us to take longer to do something than it takes to do it. The reason that Tim was in and out is because he had already done what he needed to do. He made an accurate diagnosis and provided a price to replace the unit.) That being said, we had planned to contact our regular, trusted plumber for a second opinion. (Somehow, I doubt this to be the case.) Well, we didn’t need to wait long to call our regular, trusted plumber because the very next morning, my husband was in our lower level bathroom [directly below the bathroom with the leaky shower] and water started dropping on his head. Up until then, we did not have water coming out of the ceiling. (I am confused. Didn't you hire us to fix a broken shower valve? Is it really that shocking that the shower valve, we had all agreed needed to be replaced, began leaking? I am not sure why we didn't recieve a call at this point.) We placed a bucket under the leak and I called our regular, trusted plumber to come out and investigate. When he came out to our house, water was dripping pretty good from the ceiling. He replaced the old unit, which was now leaking water into the wall, in an hours time. The downstairs ceiling has since fallen due to the heavy water accumulation in a 12+ hour time period. (So, your plumber replaced the valve that we said needed to be replaced? That sounds good. I don't see how this is different than what we proposed to do.) Since Hope Plumbing has been out to our house, the inexpensive $40 Big Deal coupon that I purchased resulted in emergency plumbing repair of around $650 and drywall repair of $250. (Well this is just not true. The cause of your leak and plumbing problem was an old shower valve that we all agreed needed to be replaced. I will never understand why someone would think that because their house sprung a leak, it is our fault.) Thanks Hope Plumbing! I will never use Hope Plumbing again, even if they are offering FREE services. (That makes this easy, you have been already been added to our "black-list" and we will be forwarding this review to other local contractors.) The scheduler did end up calling me the day after the plumbing technician came out to schedule an appointment to do the repair work. I was unable to answer the phone at the time, but I can guarantee you that I will never use that company again and I have already told my co-workers about their workmanship. (So to be clear, we came to your house, properly diagnosed the problem, called to set up a time to make the repair and then didn't hear from you again until we read your nasty reivew on Angie's List.) This has turned into a valuable lesson for me - never stray from your trusted plumber. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brief Summary: Customer called and scheduled an appointment for a leaking shower valve.
