Hope Plumbing

My appointment was originally scheduled for between 8 and noon; however, I received a call around 11 saying a previous job was taking longer than expected and the technician would call when on his way. I called around 1 and was informed I was still on the schedule but the previous job still wasn't done. The technician arrived around 2 and was apologetic, explaining what the delay had been. He was thorough in explaining the options available to me and what the cost and cost differences would be. The technicians were courteous, fast and thorough, and asked if they could provide any other estimates while they were here. I had a deal purchased through Angie's List for a $39 service call and a $100 credit toward repairs, so my final cost was $150, although it would have been closer to $300 regularly. Hope is definitely not the cheapest around, but I do believe their work is consistently high-quality and thorough, and that they treat their employees well.

The tech gave me more than four separate quotes, and most of them went far beyond the work I was asking to be done. One included work for something that had already been done. Nothing was itemized, so I couldn't tell what the cost was for each component of the work. I got a second quote from a different company, and I felt that everything was explained well and itemized. I decided to go with the second company (not Hope) and was ok with approving services beyond my initial problem because the need was demonstrated to me, and not just written up as a quote. The price I paid with the second company was several thousand dollars less than what I was quoted by Hope. I felt as if the Hope tech was trying to take advantage of me, assuming that I wouldn't understand what previous work had been done in my basement or what reasonable costs should be for plumbing services.

While replacing the old faucets the water lines broke. I am so glad I did not attempt this project myself, they did a great job replacing the lines and installing the faucets. I did need them to come back because one of the faucet heads that had been unscrewed was now shooting water in all directions. They came back the same day, no charge and fixed the problem.

This was the WORST experience I have had with any plumbing service in Indianapolis. Not only did they not send the technician they emailed me a photo of, the the technician they did send tried to say he snaked the drain in the sink. He never touched the bathtub drain. He then proceeded to tell me I needed my whole plumbing system redone and Hope plumbing could do the job for around $1582.00. They charged me $121.00 in addition to the original $39. cost on Angie's list. I received no receipt or copy of the work order and technician's notes. Thery next time I ran water in the sink, the basin filled up and would not drain. I have attempted to contact Hope Plumbing for the past two days about this via email. As of today, they have not responded to me by phone or email. I think I am going to stop payment on my check.

The experience was awful! The service tech that came out looked at the sink and proclaimed it could not be repaired. He suggested I needed all new pipes. He did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but look at the sink. He did not look at the pipes under the sink, nor did he try to go on the roof and open the line by snaking the pipe on the roof.

Really well. Justin, the plumber, was professional in all ways. I was ready for him since Hope sends out an e-mail with a picture of the plumber who has been assigned to the project. Additionally, he called when he was on the way. He was very punctual and went right to work. He was able to explain everything to me in clear, concise language. He explained why the ring at the base of the relatively new faucet was moving around (the previous non-Hope plumber put it on backwards).

After getting the estimate, I paid the $69 and felt totally blindsided by these people. They wanted $1235 to change the wax ring and fix two faucets from dripping. The alternative they gave me was to replace the Toto toilet, sink faucet, and goose neck utility sink faucet for $2427.

I was very pleased with the quality of the work. Fittings were of cery high quality, and my technician, Caleb, was excellent.

All he did was quote a new water heater, dishwasher, plus a new water softener, which we did not need.

Smoothly. They were responsive and professional. They did have to return to make one last adjustment so the system would work, but they did that the same day I called. No harm done.

The technician was very professional, performed the necessary work.

I wasn't really won over that the plumber took a photo of the inside of the toilet to send to his manager so he could know what to do. But you have to pay for the trip charge to get an estimate, and the charge will be deducted from the bill if services are performed. So it's hard to turn down getting work done if you have to pay $69 (or maybe $59?) for the trip charge. However, I dropped from 3 jobs down to 1 because of I felt the estimates I was given were way too high for the work that needed to be done.

Evan was on time checked out all plumbing and had suggestions for several items for me to consider. No hard sale picked items that I knew needed to be fixed now and that I could afford.

I purchased a new faucet and they are coming back to remove the old one and replace it.

Work was completed following trip to supply house but not before attempt to sell entire new shower unit at $3,000+

Awesome, came out same day I called. Replaced next day. Water heater is on 2nd floor. No mess left. No damage to the wall carrying it downstairs. No water leakage on the way down.

EXCELLENT, we have a bathroom again!!

Very poorly. Company spent more time on phone getting a quote than actually looking at problem. Very pricey; not able to use credit which came with offer. No guarantee of work or even if it could be fixed. I then spent the next 2 hours working on plumbing and FIXED IT MYSELF. I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST A REFUND.

On time there was an additional cost added to advertised cost due to additional work required

It’s very rare that you can find a plumber that really understands old homes. We were tickled pink with Jacob, who offered multiple (intelligent) solutions, quoted, and did the work himself.

Great. Everything is working great and the technician was kind and efficient. He explained things as he went and showed us a few tricks to save some money.

Estimate was over $1000. Ridiculously high. this was a straightforward project with no access problems or any peculiar challenges - just replacing the actual faucets and sweat fit the copper tubing. No free estimates - $69.

Were able to come the same week. Reasonable price, good work.

Things went very well. Communication was great. Price was reasonable for scope of work. Everyone and everything about job was professional. Customer service ladies were very friendly. Plumber Josh was friendly and kept having me check things as job progressed throughout the day. Things were cleaned up when job was complete.

To replace an old wax ring on our toilet, I was given three options, the least expensive of which was $253. If I weren't a new home owner, I would have known that was a little high. C'est la vie. Now I do. After the job was completed, the technician called me into the bathroom to show me I now had leaks on either side of my tank from all the movement. He tells me this is the way with old toilets and i'm better off replacing the thing for another several hundred dollars in labor plus the cost of a new toilet. I know technicians can't really negotiate, so I pay him the $253 for the wax ring (now pointless) and he leaves with water leaking from the tank onto the floor. I call Hope's office and this is where they lost our business. We were told we would not get any sort of refund for the $253 wax ring, and the replacement would be at full cost of parts and labor -- no culpability or rebate for breaking the toilet. (Hope takes pains to point out they 'specialize in older homes,' so we'd expect at minimum a warning that we'd be responsible for any damage done during service. Or a warning we'd still have to pay for repairs negated by the destruction of an old appliance.) I haggled as best I could. He would take half off the installation, meaning I'd only pay $189 in addition to the original $253 for a total of $442 -- all as a result of a new wax ring, which I now know shouldn't have cost much more than $100. Eventually, after a couple more phone calls, they agree to install the new toilet ($60 at Re-Store) for free. Which I would say is better than nothing, except that it's literally not because we're still in the hole $303. Because there was no responsibility taken initially, and because the small concession we eventually got came after five days' worth of phone calls and arguing, we won't be using Hope's services again.
