After our home inspection prior to buying our home, we arranged for to people we were buying our house from to file a claim with their insurance company for hail damage. Our realtor referred us to Nick and he came out to do an estimate to send to the insurance company. He was very thorough with his estimate he submitted to the insurance company including pictures and other detailed information in order to state the case for a new roof. He also was present when the insurance adjuster came to inspect the roof. NIck was proactive by communicating with all parties involved. This includes the insurance company and the previous owner's mortgage company. He was very knowledgable of the ins and outs of insurance claims. Bottom line is I believe he was instrumental in us getting a new roof for our new home. Now we have a 30-year dimensional shingle roof that we shouldn't have to worry about for a long time. We also had Nick estimate some other work like gutter covers and such. He is very straight forward and honest. If I have any other improvements that need to be done I will call Nick first.

They did everything quickly and correctly. They did it at the price and time they quoted. They did a good job of cleaning up. I liked that they followed through and did what they said they were going to do. I spent about $8700 on that work and it was an insurance job, so it did not cost much.

It was great. I have a little bit of knowledge in this area, and they did an excellent job. For both siding and windows, I feel as though that's a reasonable price. The installation was done right. Whenever there was anything that needed to be addressed, they took care of it right away. The work was done well and the entire experience was pleasant.

Fred came out on a Saturday morning to provide an estimate for a new roof, fiber cement siding, & new gutters for our home. The Saturday appointment was much appreciated since my schedule was full during the week. Fred was very courteous, professional, and knowledgeable about the products and installation techniques associated with fiber cement siding (very important). The estimate was provided exactly when promised. In the end, we chose to go with another company, based on a slightly lower cost and a friend's experience with the other company. I have no doubt that Heldman Exteriors would have done an exceptional job, had we chosen to go with them.

Rick Heldman is a nice man and I liked his ideas. He was not the least expensive but not the most either. His workers did not always seem to know what Rick had promised me. They had to do many things twice. Job took a very long time... MONTHS to complete rather than the two weeks he estimated. The trash container was not big enough -and then there was NO trash container so they left it to blow all over our property. Grrrr! Trash piled in our driveway, carport and materials laying around for so long. It was so vexing! Having our place torn up for so long was a nightmare! They repeatedly said they would be out the next day then not show up. Or show up and work for an hour, make a new mess and leave. I felt like they had other jobs that were getting more attention/priority. My house had siding torn off and innards showing for over 4 weeks. It was just an awful experience. I'm OK with the final result but getting there was time consuming and problematic. Some of the work was simply not acceptable and while Rick did compensate me for those issues I would have preferred to pay full price and get the job done right. I have had to hire someone else to correct some problems. If you decide to contract with Heldman I would suggest setting a firm timeline for work to be completed. Also get in writing how they will handle the trash, and inspect the workmanship carefully. We were not given any concerted work time. It seemed they might have worked 6 hours a WEEK on our project. Even on the good weather days we would not see them. Grrrr! Roofing part went very well. Clean, neat, particular. Also Rick suggested I call the insurance co re hail damage and this resulted in a claim that helped significantly in the cost of new roof. Nice man Rick but it seemed there was just way too much on his plate.

I think they knew at the time that I was not happy with work. I did find someone else to come and finish the work.

They were professional and provided well done work. They showed up onetime and lived up to expectations.

Very please with the windows and service

I interview about 10 companies and one of my strategies was that I new what I wanted for my roof. I used Angie's List to narrow down the companies from 10 to 4. They were fine to work with and very good with the estimate. They did have a problem though, there was an overnight were the unfinished roof was not covered and it rained. They had their own people who drywalled and painted to fix the problem, but I did not like the work that they had done so I had my own people come in to drywall and paint. They paid the cost for the other workers. The other problem was that the truck that carried all the old material away leaked oil, which covered the street. It took them several times to clean everything to my liking.

They were excellent. Follow-through was very good. They also took care of little details and very communicative and we knew exactly what was going on at all times. I would recommend them to anyone.

The experience was excellent. It was great. They did fantastic work and the price was very reasonable. We had gotten other bids. They did a great job. They were very professional.

Almost everybody in my neighbnprhood had to get their roofs replaced because of hail storm last June. Heldmen did it for the same price as some of the companies going door to door, but for the same price put a new type of venting system in, which is supposed to be better than the old type. Mr Heldman was really honest. Everybody else was super high pressured, but Mr Heldman wasn't.

Overall it went well. It took a long time to completion. (approx 5 months.) Rick Heldman strongly encouraged us to replace our rotted windows and doors with Lincoln brand. The Owner's son was the Project Leader for our house. He did an excellent job overseeing both the workers from the window company and the contractor's company. We had very large windows replaced and his leadership skills and calm demeanor were essential to work done well. It was discovered we had some rotten floors and window sills which were replaced without charge to us. All of the interior trim was replaced and drywall was repaired. There was only 1 person doing all the trim work so the trim and finish work took longer than expected. There was an issue with one set of doors. Because the replacement transoms over the doors were larger than originals, the doors were shortened to fit our opening. When we complained about the short doors, Blair Window Company accepted the responsibility and ordered replacement doors and found a solution to the transom problem. When the new doors arrived, the door received did not fit the frame. Once again Blair accepted responsibility and replaced the door. They were on site to measure and help install the windows with Heldman Exteriors. All of the Workers that were part of this job were courteous and professional. Each day the site was cleaned and organized.

He has treated us well so far. He seems to be honest.

They are fairly timely and thorough with their work. They got the job done quickly and they did it well. I was pleased with their work and I would recommend them to anyone.

Mr. Heldman delivered the siding to our home approx. 10 days prior to install. The siding was primed and we took several days to paint it (saved $$ doing it ourselves). Mr. Heldman was very helpful in explaining how to properly handle/paint the siding and even left us some of his own saw horses to help our efforts. The gentlemen installing the siding were polite and cleaned up after themselves. Some paint was spilled onto a coach light while touch-ups were being done, so that's going to take a little time for us to remove. I had some concern about windows around our house leaking, so Mr. Heldman had the installer (Ed, I think was his name) look at our windows and caulk them where needed - no charge! We love our new siding!

When they took off the siding, they threw away the house address. They broke the front porch light, which had an outlet in it. Instead of fixing it, they bought a new one and now I don't have an outlet out front. The mailbox they installed is also too high to reach. They were supposed to paint the back door threshold but they didn't do that. The shingles on the front and back and garage are lifting up now. I've tried to contact them but they won't return my calls.

He is very responsive. I would him again.

Fred was tremendously organized in seeing that the crew and all needed supplies arrived at the proper time. I was amazed when they were able to finish the entire roofing job in 1 day. The siding and gutters took another day to complete. A small mishap during the roofing created a small hole in my dining room ceiling. Upon showing him the problem, he immediately called one of his associates to repair the problem. This individual was not able to work this into his schedule for about 7 days. Fred however did not request even partial payment on his job until this repair work was completed to my satisfaction.

Excellent-very conscientious with their work. Very timely.

Nothing happened. I started contacting him 05/3/07. I left a message, nobody called back. I called him again on 05/04/07 talked to the secretary, she said said he was at lunch and would have him call. He didn't call back. I called on May the seventh and he said he'd have someone out this week and no one came out.

Last October, they came out and gave me an estimate and told me that they were going to do some work because of the hail damage. I called them in March to follow-up and they said they would get back to me. I have not heard back and they do not bother to follow-up.

It seems like there has been one problem after another. The work was done in Oct - Nov of 2006 after I was told in would be done in 2 weeks. The front gutters and doors were hung improperly, there was flashing not installed, and other errors in the work that have contributed to water getting into my house. The clean up was horrible. I am still picking things out of my yard and have had two flat tires due to them not getting all the nails up. The garage door casing is bent and continues to get worse every time I use the door. I have tried to get him out here to fix all of these problems and he has been unresponsive when I call, or schedules an appointment and just doesn't show up or has an excuse as to why he cannot come out. The one time he came out he did not fix any of the problems. When the original work was being done I felt like I had to watch them so they would do the work properly. I feel like I cannot trust this company to fix the problems especially when I am not here.

As the job was progressing a few things went wrong but they would correct them. The subcontractor they used was in charge of fixing the problems for Heldman. He would say he was coming out and not show up, he finally came out to fix the work in the spring/summer of 06. I went out to purchase some of the materials he would need. He had been putting aluminum around two picture windows, he found one had rotted out underneath. He said he would come back in 2 days to finish the job. He has not been back yet but had taken the ladders I had arranged to trade with him for other work I needed done. I called Heldman and he said he would call him and have him come back and he is still not been back. In the mean time one of the windows have cracked due to the cold weather and improper installation. Mr. Heldman seems to have good intentions in getting his sub back out here to work, but nothing has been done and the work is not completely finished.

So far I am completely pleased. Very good experience and they gave me great service.
