Description of Work: Hays was the contractor for repairing water damage. They subcontract most of the work, and while the quality of the work was good, the scheduling of several subcontractors was very difficult. Entire process took several weeks longer than it should due to the scheduling issues.

Description of Work: We had a house that was severely damaged by a large tree. We hired Hays and Sons to mitigate the damage and to rebuild our house which was in the flood plain in Indianapolis. We knew that rebuilding would we be difficult due to flood plain building restrictions, that is why we hired a company that claimed to have experience working with the city of Indianapolis. Hays and Sons tore the house down to the foundation without getting a demolition permit. After that, the city would not let us rebuild because less than 50% of the structure was remaining. We have not been able to rebuild and have lost our beautiful riverfront home due to H & S's incompetence. If your insurance company recommends that you should use Hays and Sons, do not listen to them. Avoid this company at all costs.

Description of Work: Checked dry wall for moisture after water heater failure while on vacation. Removed moldings, Set up blowers and dehumidifier and came back to check until dry.

Description of Work: They installed two new skylights. The skylights were to have built in blinds. However, the skylights delivered and installed have shades but not blinds. We were not given any advance opportunity to review the product. During installation which took months to schedule, one of the skylights was discovered to be defective. Despite multiple attempts to arrange for repair, it is still defective. Additionally, and comically, after installation, a large factory sticker was left on the outside of one of the skylights. We had to arrange for the company to come back out and remove the sticker. We did not receive the product we wanted and we still have one defective skylight. It has been a very frustrating experience. When the crew arrived to do the install, they unplugged our other contractor's equipment so that they could plug in their microwave and make lunch. Needless to say, our other contractor on site insisted they get their own extension cord. This has been a very frustrating experience.

Description of Work: On July 28th, 2012 We experienced a home fire with extensive damage to the 4 structure Condo unit. Hays and Sons Restoration was on the spot immediately to begin the restoration process. The experience has been confusing, frustrating and challenging but I have high praise for the project manager assigned to my unit, Ryan Matkins. He has done an amazing job putting together the project and restoration amid the changes and timeline changes. It has been a well managed project thanks to his kind and patient client focused attitude and expertise. I would work with them again.

Description of Work: A tree fell on my house and my insurance company hired Hays & Sons. Most damage was superficial (siding, gutter, paint, window), but it took them over 3 months to get the work done. AND the work still isn't totally complete AND the work that has been done is absolutely unacceptable. Inferior materials, shoddy quality control, lack of supervision on subs, and completely poor communication. Calls to project manager and to the office were handled professionally, but the work quality and management style were still the same, LOUSY! In addition, they were paid for work they never did, i.e. they were supposed to replace a gutter and clean up some of the debris which they did not do even though it was in the estimate. My insurance company agreed this was a poor job, but now they are cutting me a check and I have to find someone to "clean up this mess". So, the project continues. I would not recommend this company.

Description of Work: SHEETROCK TORN OUT OF BASEMENT, AN 800 SQ. FOOT AREA. TORN OUT FROM FLOOR TO 36' UP WALL. DRIED BASEMENT WITH DEHUMIDIFIERS, CLEANED SUPPORT WOOD. REMOVED KITCHENETTE CABINETRY.
