Response from Handyman Connection of Carmel
This is the most disturbing report with the most difficult customer we have ever had in over 20 years in business. There are several comments in this report that need to be cleared up. When this member states that the first person she called never showed up it's important to note that that was not with our company. we showed up on time for the first appointment and on the day work was to start. The only problem was this customer was scheduled several days ahead of time and clearly knew what days and times they were on our schedule. After the first day of work we showed up the second day to complete the project and that is when she told us that we could not work that day because she was moving. When we expressed that we were on schedule to finish and that we had several other customers who were waiting on us this customer got extremely irate. We really don't feel it is appropriate for a customer to believe they can affect our whole schedule on a whim when the work was scheduled several days in advance. It is very inconsiderate to the technician who is paid by the piece and counts on the work being done on time to feed his family. How would this member feel if their boss told them on Friday that they cant get paid until next Tuesday. To this members comment about staying in the house while they are gone, we do this all the time that is why Handyman Connection goes through the trouble of performing extensive background and drug tests on all our contractors and each one is issued a bond. We do all this for our customers protection and we have completed thousands of jobs over the last 20 years with the homeowner not being home. I believe that is why so many customers call us in the first place because of the peace of mind and trust we give them. I hope a few happy members who we have worked for again and again will write in a response to this. The statement that she had to call the police to get us to leave is completely false. Once we called her to try and explain that we really needed to stay on schedule, she got extremely rude with the office manager, fired us and hung up on her. Our contractor simply wanted to get his tools out of the home once she said he was fired and at first she refused to allow him to collect his own personal property. We also have several pictures of the job that was being done and it is great work. We will be happy to show these to any member that looks at the F in quality. The job is beautiful. It is so unfortunate when these things happen, but in this case we firmly believe it all stems from a inconsiderate customer who thought that they could just change our whole company schedule any way they saw fit. We regret this incident and always try our best to work with our customers within reason. This simply was the hardest one we have ever had.
