It was a very worry-free experience.

Excellent experience overall. They explained what I needed to know about gas logs, fireplace doors, and the pros and cons and of vented versus unvented. In choosing fireplace doors, they assisted me in making a choice that, when installed, was absolutely perfect. Appointments were scheduled at a time that was convenient for me, and the measurer and installer were both prompt and efficient. The installer explained how everything worked and answered all my questions. Everyone I worked with was customer service oriented and very professional. I would recommend Godby to anyone interested in installing a gas fireplace.

He called before arriving. Came in and proceeded to take it apart and looked over all the equipment for any problems with parts wearing out. Cleaned everything before putting it back together and cleaned the area e was working in.

They came out and looked at it and brought me a gift of lava rocks. He put the rocks around the logs. He made sure the fireplace worked properly while he was here and that I was happy with their work. They thanked me for being a good client. They are just very good people.

I contacted Godby Hearth and Home to purchse a new fireplace insert. My old insert was not reliable and therefore I had not used it in several years. I have an underground propane tank in my back yard. I first searched Angie's List, found the company and gave them a call. The person who responded was quite helpful, asked appropriate questions, and advised me to come to the showroom and see the inserts for myself. I did so and went with a modern lookkiing ventless model. If I hadn't gone to the showroom I'm not sure I would have known that such a choice was available. The company also honored the Angie's List discount. I placed the order on Jan 16 and the insert was installed Jan 30. However, gas wasn't getting to the insert. The tech waited while I called the propane company, talked to a man from the company, tried a few different things but the result was the propane company rep need to come out (the problem was a faulty regulator). Once gas was getting the the insert a rep from Godbys calledme to walk me through the prcess of igniting the insert (this was at 6pm so he would be sure I was home and in front of the insert). Unfortunately I had a little difficuty following his directions and he immediately offered to send the tech out on a day and Time convenient to me to show me how the system operated. The tech came out yesterday, walked me through the process and I'm now good to go.

The overall experience was excellent. The technician cleaned and serviced the fireplace. They were able to locate a new door even though the company that made our fireplace had been bought out several years ago. The door was ordered and installed within 3 weeks.

It went well. I was satisfied. The windows were around $8,000 and the roof was around $20,000. They were punctual. They picked up all the scrap. They went around the house with a magnetic device to pick up all the nails. They did a good job. Their price was a little above the middle. I have been real happy with it and would use them again.

Brian came to my house, on time and on the date scheduled, and looked at my existing fireplace to measure for installing an insert. After I selected an insert, Godby sent their installer to my home to make sure the selected insert would fit properly and to inspect the condition of the fireplace/chimney. He recommended that a mason come to check to see what repairs were needed to the flue and masonry. They scheduled this and the inspection was done shortly afterwards, and an estimate of masonry repairs was presented. Some sealing work could not be done until warmer weather, so I opted to delay purchase and installation until spring. After all this service, the Godby employees were still professional and did not try to persuade me into changing my mind, nor did they charge me for their time. I told them I would contact them in the spring and asked them to please keep all my information on file. I was very pleased that they were so willing to go the extra mile to make sure my installation would be a success. I will go back and pursue this project in a few months. I feel they were excellent in being responsive and prompt in their preliminary services.

I had shopped at several other stores for the fireplace logs. Since I have a 3-view fireplace, I had a lot of questions especially concerning the vent/vent-less log sets. After less than satisfactory help from the other stores, I decided to go to Plainfield and see what Godby's had available. I had a great salesman. After a short discussion and finding out the price which I was not willing to pay at the time, the salesman, told me that I needed to understand what I was trying to buy so that I could shop intelligently. So he took over an hour talking me through all my choices and discussing my home and fireplace needs. Several times, I again, stated that I was not going to buy them immediately and he continued to be fine with that fact. He just wanted me to know what I was doing. I went to the door and was ready to leave and I thought about all the time this gentleman had taken with me - knowing all along that he didn't have a sale. Almost reached the car and changed my mind. I decided that he really knew what he was talking about, he didn't put an ounce of pressure on me to buy - and wished me Happy Holidays when I was ready to leave. So I turned around and went in to buy the logs. Then he said, "I don't think there is any way to get these here before Christmas and I was fine with that. After all it was the 2nd week of December and it was a set that was not in stock. However, the next week, he called to tell me they were on the truck and he was going to do everything in his power to get them in by Christmas. After that he called back two times to set and appointment and then to let me know that his employee would be there an hour later than originally planned. I was shocked - after dealing with the utility and other commercial companies for the past two weeks who give you a minimum window of 4-8 hours, this company was giving accurate appointment times and where their employee was in the process. Of course, the installation was the same - very professional and knowledgeable. Last week I called them again, as I was having difficulty lighting the logs. I told them I didn't know if it was operator error or if there was actually something wrong with the equipment. Once again, the same process, exact time of arrival and they hit it on the button. Brian came and once again, explained how it worked, checked the complete system and was very professional and of course there was no charge since I had just purchased them. Having gone through a recent move that involved an extensive remodel as well as the purchase of thousands of dollars of materials, furniture and appliances, Godby's Hearth and Home was the ONLY company I dealt with that had this type of service. I am still amazed - first at the crappy service of many vendors and then the great experience with Godby's. I would highly recommend them for them for anything to do with fireplace and bath remodels. Brian said, "well we are not perfect" - but they are darn close

Had some issues with fit of fire box in cavity, and fabrication issues of surround, but Godby, (Brian, Shawn, Tim and Kevin), did their best to rectify and work with us to solve all problems to our satisfaction. Brian, the owner/manager offered us an extended service contract for the problems we had. Shaun had a custom trim kit made that basically solved the problems. Waited to submit a report until we could actually experience the new fireplace in colder weather. I must say say Brian's recommendation for this gas fireplace was the right one, it really solves our heating issues we had for the whole house. Again I would like to thank Godby, especially Brian and Shaun and it was a joy to work with them all.

requested an estimate on glass fireplace screen for my double sided ventless fireplace to prevent my little one from getting into the fireplace. Technician came to the home and informed me of what I already knew that I had a ventless fireplace, and recommended because of that fact I use card board or ties to keep my little one out of the fireplace. This was not what I asked for we do not use the fireplace at all and the request for glass fireplace doors was for our own security that our child would not consume the rocks in the fireplace. I was told the fireplace should have never been installed in a home of my size 2000 sq feet. and should have been on the wall as opposed to being between the dinning and living room. Needless to say I never did get an estimate on the glass fireplace door as the technician determined I apparently was not worthy. I understood that a ventless fireplace gets hot when covered. What the technician failed to understand and hear was that we do not use the fireplace at all and the request for the glass fireplace doors was for the safety of our child, not to get into the fireplace.

They are the only one that has the product. They were punctual. They haven’t been ever out yet to do the work. They wanted to charge us $3500 for their service. We will be using them in the future.

I asked for an estimate on the phone to clean and repair our gas logs. I did receive estimate over the phone. Then Brain Adams called me back and said he would be in the area in about a week and would come look at the gas logs for a more informed quote. I appreciated all the information Brian gave me after looking at our fireplace, since our gas logs are over 10 years old. I would definitely use Godby for any work.

Workers showed up on time and performed the contracted work as scheduled Note: Unfortunately, since I did not file this report in a timely manner, I've forgotten most of the details of the install.

They were very professional and knowledgable. I was very happy with the service I received from them.

They had a great selection. They came out and measured what size of door we would. The door arrived quickly and they came out installed with no problems.

my husband and I came to this store by accident when we were actually looking for a furniture store . they were very nice and helpful and gave us exact directions to the store we were actually looking for while my husband and i were there we did look around this store and the man who gave us directions was very happy to show and explain their product even though he knew he wasn't going to get a sale. so when comes to consider an outdoor heating source or an indoor fire place I am definitely coming to Goodby based on this experience alone

The experience was great. The sales staff was friendly and very helpful. The furniture is very high quality. I must admit that we are not the best at covering or bringing our furniture in for the winter. This was one of the best purchases we have made. The table and chair are extremely easy to clean up when we are ready to use them again in the spring. The glider is still functional after being left out a couple of winters in a row. We are glad that we took the sales staff’s suggestion to purchase this over another brand because of the easy care and durability. I have recommended others to this company and will continue to do so.

It was a fine experience with the company. It was years ago but I don’t remember having any complaints. They worked h****** the project and completed it.

We are absolutely delighted with everything they did, plus when I had made mistake with the heaters, they talked me through it on the phone how to fix the issue. They didn’t charge me for this. They were very pleasant to work with.

It turned out fine and went well. It was put in right the first time.

They did what they said they would do, and they installed them and they work.
