Godby Hearth & Home

We purchased the $99 certificate that Godby Hearth and Home offered for $500 toward a gas fireplace. We found a fireplace that fit our needs; the certificate provided a welcomed discount on an expensive but worthwhile item. We're very pleased with the appearance and function of the fireplace. But the real story here is the amazing job that Godby's installation team, led by Shawn Wooden, did. We were getting a new granite surround and the installers accommodated our schedule, installing the fireplace but leaving it so that the granite installers could do their work. The fireplace installation was particularly difficult; a gas line had to be moved and our chimney was especially high, requiring the installers to rent a lift to reach into it. After the granite was installed, Shawn returned to level the fireplace and put it in its permanent place. Fortunately, Shawn noticed that the granite installers had used wood shims to raise the back of the fireplace. Had he not found them, we could have had a fire. He and his crew are friendly, professional, punctual and skilled. We highly recommend them.

They did a great job! They arrived on time, did excellent work and didn't try to upsell me on services and equipment I did not need or want. Very pleased.

As always, Godby was very responsive and worked with us on a few unexpected alterations required with an all glass, no-frame door.

It was good. I would use them again.

There was a big deal available this summer for a tune-up for gas fireplaces. Co-oincidentally my fireplace was getting harder and harder to turn on. It took me a number of times to get it going. Godby came out and took the device apart, cleaned it (which fixed the problem) and rearranged the logs to look better than they ever had. Service person was on time and explained everything he did. Very satisfied.

Instead of giving me an estimate, they diagnosed the problem over the phone and told me how I could fix it myself with little to no effort, experience, etc. They could have charged me a service call just to come out and tell me that, but they didn't. Honest, good folks. I'm a big fan!

Considering the age and the application involved, the work went well and the Godby people were conscientitous and professional. Godby sales people did not assert pressure for decision nor push higher price alternatives.

Before they came, they recommended a company to install the gas line (Steg Plumbing) and the man did a great job bringing the gas line up from the basement. I also had to have an electrical outlet installed in the back of the firebox for the remote starter. Frye Electric did a nice job on that. When Godby came, they did a timely job of installing the unit and the vents. There was no mess left, they gave me a quick overview of how to use the remote control (additional instructions are online), and answered all my questions, while being polite and professional. They seemed very knowledgeable about the various types of fireplaces. In addition,before I purchased the unit Kevin, the salesman, spent a good deal of time with me explaining how the fireplace worked and giving me various quotes. I appreciated his helpful attitude and patience. I recommend this company.

Called Godby because our gas fireplace stopped working. Left a message, got a call back the next day and got an appointment scheduled a week later. The repairmen who came to the house were on time, very nice and professional. They discovered that our fireplace had been wired incorrectly; (something we had suspected, but never confirmed,) and they rewired it correctly. They basically had to take the wiring apart and start over, (I was grateful they did!) They checked and rechecked to make sure everything was working correctly before they left. The fireplace and fan seem to be working better than they ever have before! They worked for a total of 1 1/2 hours, but the price was exactly as quoted for the service.

The receptionist who answered the phone and set up the appointment was very pleasant and helpful. The technician who performed the cleaning worked well and appears to have done a very good job. And there was no mess when he was gone.

Overall, this experience was stress free, hassle free. Our finished basement is a gathering place and needed this fireplace to be in an operating condition. The thorough and prompt service of Godby Hearth & Home corrected the problem and had the fireplace going quickly. Great experience.

So far, I feel everything went well. from the time we arrived to the showroom, until the cleanup after the installs, they have been great!

While I no longer remember the specifics of the project, I know that we were/are quite satisfied with the work. We are planning on using them again when we replace the fireplace in the family room.

The representatives name was Steve. He was very professional and did a great job. I had already changed the batteries in the remote and in the fireplace and the remote still wasn't working so I called for help and they fixed it. The fireplace looks and works like its brand new now. I am very happy with the service.

While visiting their showroom in October we found a fireplace door to replace an existing door. Kevin, the salesperson was very busy that day, but frequently assured us he would be right with us. While waiting we found a door from among their large and well displayed samples that we liked. Kevin helped us decide on features by asking questions that were helpful in our making our final selection. Because the door is custom made, Kevin explained it would be approximately 6 weeks for delivery. About a week following our placing the order Brian called to advise us on the delivery date provided by the manufacturer and to set up both a "measuring" and "install" date. The door was delivered and installed as promised with the utmost professionalism and care. We are very pleased with our door and our experience with Godby. We definitely would use them again.

All went as planned. No surprises! We visited store, selected the style. Brian came out to look at space and determine all the requirements. A power vent was necessary. Brian priced the unit and install. I priced the same unit on the Internet for comparison. The price quoted was competitive. We ordered the unit expecting about 3 weeks to arrive. One week later the unit was in and scheduled for install. Install went as planned and we couldn't be happier with the overall experience.

The service and professionalism I experienced during my most recent purchases was great. I have used this company before and I will definitely use them again. I would recommend this company to anyone. Great job guys. Thank You!!

My husband and I have been very happy from beginning to end with our experience with Godby Hearth & Home. Brian Adams came out to measure our fireplace and talk about gas insert options. He was very friendly and knowledgeable... he was great! I went to their store to pick out the fireplace insert for our home and was met with, again, very friendly and knowledgeable people. The store is lovely, too. Our fireplace insert came very quickly and was installed as soon as we were ready to receive it. Installation was pain-free. It was done neatly by very courteous installers who, by the way, are employees of Godby Hearth & Home... that means if you have any difficulty with the installation, Godby will make it right. It also means that they are well trained for gas fireplace installation. Our direct vent fireplace is wonderful quality and beautiful!! We couldn't be happier with choosing Godby Hearth & Home for our gas fireplace insert. They've done a great job and I know that if we ever have any problems, they will make it right.

Great service even from the first call. Very helpful in trying trouble shoot over the phone. Scheduled an appt for the next week. Steve, called a half hour prior to coming and was actually 15 min early for the scheduled time! A first for me when dealing with any kind of repair service. He fixed the problem and checked everything else as well. Very professional and knowledgable. Here less than an hour!

Was given good advice over the phone as to what could be done to fix the fireplace. We had just turned it off several months before and quit using it due to the gas leak. They did a great job fixing it and cleaning it. We had never had it serviced before so it really needed it. Very easy to schedule appointment.

They did the work while we weren't even around and were pleased to come home to great work. They are very trustworthy.

We purchased a forclosure. It needed several things. The fireplace worried me. I called them to give it the once over and show me how it worked. they were prompt, throrough, and courteous. The workman even showed me that the log was placed 2 inches to close to the front of the fire place resulting in soot collecting on the ceiling. I was very happy with the maintenance, and infromation they gave me.

From the first phone call out to Godby everything went very well, and to schedule.They came out the day following our request for help to give us an estimate, and then returned within the week to remove the stove for us. They arrived on time for the job, and removed the stove, leaving the area clean. The job did not take very long and was completed to our satisfaction. We are very pleased with the work, and will definitely use them again. I am quite happy to recommend them to others who need work done.

I was extremely pleased with them. Their price was a little higher. I actually had someone who was cheaper but I was more impressed with Godby. When I talked to them they really seemed to know what they were talking about, so I ended up going with them who were more expensive. I would absolutely use them again in the future if necessary.
