Gilpin Glass Service

My condo association loves to send out contractors who say "oh, whole window needs replacing" without even looking at anything which is at 50% homeowners cost--- this usually is about $800+. So I decided to call a glass company, not a window company. Researched Gilpin Glass on Angies List as a neighbor had recommended too. Called Jerry for an estimate on glass replacement which came in lower than anyone else and a heck of a lot cheaper than $800!!. Took a few weeks to order glass then nasty winter weather hit, but on first decent weather day Jerry called and replaced window in a jiffy. Super workmanship, great to deal with.

I was not impressed with the answering service that took my initial phone call. Once we advanced beyond the initial phone call, this company was a joy to work with. It is a family company. The founder came to give the estimate. His son-in-law and grandson came to do the repair. They arrived when they were expected. The actual repair took less than an hour and they removed the broken glass from the original window.

Very prompt, courteous, and well-done work. Will hire again for a new storm window for our custom attic window.

Jerry quoted us to replace one double pane glass unit in our dining room window. Within one week the glass was replaced and it looks great. It was a great price as well.

We had the owner come out to give an estimate. We were in the process of moving and needed replace glass in the French doors right away. My husband and I both called, finally got him out there to do an estimate. I was unaware through miscommunication from my husband that he had already been out to measure. Husband later told me owner was to have gotten back to us with a quote. I did not realize that Mr Gilpin and come out to measure, then returned because. HE apparently made a mistake in the measuring. We left for vacation a few days after moving and upon return I contacted Gilpin again to get him either to get measurements or to give us an estimate. He got very hateful and said he had already been there and he was angry that we never called HIM for the final estimate!! I apologized citing obvious miscommunication between my husband and I and asked if we could move forward with getting the glass ordered. After setting the date/time, he called me back about 10 minutes later and stated that he refused to do work for us because he was "tired of people taking advantage of him and treating him this way". I apologized profusely for any mis-communications or misunderstanding and said we would really appreciate him doing the work since he came so highly recommended from another Angie's list company we used. He got very hateful and hung up. He refused to return any of our calls from there on out. Honestly, we are very nice people, willing to pay for good service, and come from a long-time family business background. I have never in all my years of working with the public EVER been refused service because of a slight...easily remedied....mix-up NOR would I ever refuse service unless the person was over-the-top....and I was more than nice and more than flexible. It sounds like this elderly gentleman is tired of working and needs to retire. I am disappointed that I was denied the opportunity to help a small local business. I guess my better bet is to stick with the big chains.

I thought that they were good. I would give them an A overall. He did an excellent job and gave us an estimate, which was the best one we had. He had a good price. They were very punctual and I especially liked the fact that he called back and kept up with it. Because there was a time there that we had to wait, but once we got the project going he got it done quickly and well.

Gilpin Glass was very responsive. They came out that day to look at the window and estimated $150 for the replacement price, a bit high, but worth it for the work and the service. They delivered on time, were professional, and left no mess. I would highly recommend them.

He was extremely efficient. I was shocked at the price compared to what I have paid in the past for glass replacement. He was very cordial, prompt and courteous. I would definitely use this company in the future.

The guy was very prompt, was able to handle the repair. He was very honest and offered a solution that worked great and saved me a large expense for not having to replace the whole window.

I called to have Jerry come out and give me an estimate on some work I needed done. When he came into my house I asked him if he would mind taking off his shoes. (I ask this of all workmen who come into my home.) I then went into the other room for a second and I heard him muttering something about coming back later and then he left. I hurried to the front door and as he was going down the steps I said I had some shoe coverings he could put on instead. He said he would come back when it was dry. I have not heard from him since to reschedule. Apparently he doesn't want my business. When I first called him he was very responsive and was able to come out to my house within a day or so and he was there when he said he would be.

Great work. Jerry came out and estimated without even having to bother us; he then called with the quote and we scheduled the work. He came out on time and we handed him the check. Looks good as new!

I found him to be very friendly and professional. He explained everything that was going to be preformed. They were clean while they were here. I would certainly use them again. A huge thing for me is that they were a lot more honest than other companies.

Jerry is very good and he got new glass and repaired the window as requested.

The owner, Mr. Gilpin. arrived on the day I phoned to give me an estimate. He was very professional and his estimate was well in line with others. The glass was ordered and was then installed professionally and perfectly within two weeks. He called me the day the glass arrived and it was installed the same afternoon. The two workers were very personable and efficient and had the whole process completed within two hours. I was given a five year warranty on the seal.

Jerry Gilpin and his crew did a fantastic job. We sold our house and upon inspection two windows were found to have wood rot. I tried to work with the a local hardwood store to have the windows replaced entirely. They referred me directly to the company that made the windows to get the correct window and proper size of the windows. After I contacted the manufacturer and gave them the exact size of the windows, their estimate came back with the wrong size. Due to the timing of when the windows had to be replaced or repaired, I called Gilpin Glass to see if they could help me. Mr. Gilpin came to the house and was very helpful and agreed to perform the work for me. In less than 2 weeks the windows were removed, fixed, painted/stained, and put back in place. The work performed was excellent. You could not tell they were repaired. We were able to meet our deadline and were extremely satisfied. All involved in this service were friendly, professional and performed in a timely manner.

I called, got and immediate answer, and scheduled a time for Jerry to come out to give an estimate. Jerry came out on time, was very professional, gave estimate and asked me to call if I decided to have it done, I asked him to go ahead and order the parts. Jerry called back in a week or so and scheduled the replacement of the glass, they look great. I think this was a great value, nice looking work, and very fast.

He came and gave an estimate. Sent workers to take out the old, broken glass and install a new pane. Cleaned up the area.

Called to request estimates on fixing some broken windows; provided details on which windows and access code; they said they would go there and get back to me with an estimate in the next couple of days; never heard back from them.

Great job. Called me back quickly, came out and measured. He installed it at my convenience and left a bill. Did a good job.
