 + -1 moreOverall our experience was excellent. We just love the oak framed sofa! The fabric is beautiful and the upholstery job was excellent, with double cording in the base areas. It looks so beautiful in our family room and I feel my grandmother would have approved! And so far the dog and kids have been all over it - and the upholstery doesn't show it! Greg helped choose a hard-wearing fabric since this would be the family room. We haven't gotten the other pieces back yet (delay at the mill for the fabric - but that's okay as I keep telling them - no rush as we're still painting - ugh!). But I feel confident those pieces will make my living room look like a dream (and will report back when those pieces come).
Description of Work: When my grandmother died, I inherited some of her furniture. Much of it was kitsch, but some pieces were worth keeping and restoring. I knew I needed a professional to reupholster these pieces and of course I checked Angie's List! My first try was Frost because of their overall grade and the positive reports from other members. I called and the lovely lady took my number and set up an appointment for that same week. Greg showed up and couldn't have been more helpful. He measured the four pieces and left me with sample fabric books. He returned two days later to pick up the furniture and review my selections. While it was easy for me to choose the fabric for the 1930s-ish pieces (wood scrolling with deep upholstery) I had an impossible time figuring out what to cover the Arts & Crafts style oak-framed sofa. Greg looked at the 3 choices I was struggling over, pointed at one of them and I said "ok!" NOTE THAT THE COST ENTERED IS FOR ALL 4 PIECES - 2 LARGE SOFAS AND TWO CHAIRS.

 + -1 moreFrost is a small shop with a large selection of fabrics. At the start of the project they helped us find several fabrics that we thought might meet our needs and encouraged us to take samples of fabric home. Once we selected a fabric, their representative came to our home and presented us with an estimate of the cost to do the work. After ordering the work it was about two weeks week before the fabric arrived in their shop, and they called to arrange picking up the chair. They arrived in a timely manner, took the chair and about a week later called to tell us the work was finished and to arrange delivery. The chair was also delivered in a timely manner. Throughout the process several people at Frost have been courteous and helpful. The chair was finished as we requested and the cost to do the work was far less than a new chair. We are more than happy with the results.

 + -1 moreThey picked up the couch and delivered it. Everything went fine. Frost has done other pieces for us. They all look great. The price depends a lot on the upholstery you pick. The quality of their work is priceless.
Description of Work: Reupholstered and repaired our grandparents couch. This couch is at least 60 years old. You can't buy furniture made like that these days. It just looks beautiful! We had the matching chair done a couple years ago.

 + -1 moreI scheduled an appointment for Greg to come to the house and look at the project. They asked me about color and style and he brought several books of samples. I would have liked to go to their store to look at more samples, but the store is open pretty much only during regular business hours. In the end, I found a pattern I liked among the books and it was helpful that Greg let me keep the books for several days. He returned to pick up the books without pressure to go ahead with the project. I was really impressed by the price of the fabrics. Greg returned to take the order and pick up the chairs. Frost scheduled all of these meetings, pick up and delivery around my schedule. Also, they rushed the job so that I could have the chairs for an important family event.
Description of Work: Reupholstered highly-stylized chairs including new webbing and foam.

 + -1 moreAfter contacting the company by phone, they personally came out to the house to give an estimate. This took me by surprise as I had trouble getting other companies to even call me back. The estimate was very competitive. They took the piece, along with fabric I had purchased, with them and said it would take about two weeks. The job was finished in half the time. They delivered it free of charge. Everything was done as specified and it looked beautiful. The lady who answers the phone is very interested in their customers and takes the time to answer your questions and makes you want to do business with them.
Description of Work: I purchased a small antique loveseat that was the wrong color and the material was in bad shape but the piece itself was just what I wanted. I had already purchased fabric and needed to find an upholster. After much research, I found Frost on Angie's List and was impressed by the reports previously submitted.

 + -1 moreThe quality of their work is commendable. They brought the bolt of fabric to the house so I could get a better idea of its fit in the room. They do not pick up the piece until the fabric has arrived meaning that the turnaround time is a week or less. Betsy was very helpful in suggesting possible fabrics. I am not familiar with the cost of upholstering furniture so I cannot evaluate on price. It was a little more than I had wanted to pay, but I felt I would get a quality job which I did.
Description of Work: I had a chair recovered as well as cushions for a rocker.

 + -1 moreWe had used them before about 10 years ago and that experience was just OK. They did a good job but there was a complaint which they took a long time to remedy. Had we been unhappy with the finished product we would not have used them again. This time was perfect. We needed each piece done separately so that we could maintain "some" seating in our living room, so they took the chair and ottoman first. They then took the recliner and finally our sofa. They came to get each piece when they said and brought them back on time (within a day or scheduling). I'm a contractor so I know that 7 days means 8 or 9 at times. But they were within a day on everything. The sofa looks like the underlying color is the more predominant one so it confused my wife. But everything looks good. Now my wife wants to replace the carpet.
Description of Work: Reupholstered sofa, recliner and chair with ottoman. They made "some" new cushions and repaired castors on ottoman.

 + -1 moreThe whole process went very well, very smooth. I needed to order the new fabric from Love Furniture and didn't know how much yardage I needed. Greg from Frost stopped by one afternoon (within 1 day of my call) and gave me an estimate on labor charges and told me how much yardage to order. When I received the material, I called, they came back to my house (within 2 days) and picked up the ottoman and fabric. Three weeks later they returned with my newly upholstered ottoman. Looks fabulous, did a great job. They are very easy to work with and very professional. They always arrived when they said they would and turn-a-round time was way faster than expected (Got it back to me in time for my holiday guests and family to use for extra seating.) I would definitely use them again and recommend them to others.

 + -1 moreSix weeks later, I still did not have the chair finished. When it finally came, NONE of the five changes that we agreed upon were completed! It is likely Greg just did not even tell his staff what needed to be done! The chair was all wrong except for the correct material. I then was directed to his mother Bessie and his brother Jeff. Bessie said that she didn't know about the instructions (it was like Greg is the salesperson but nothing is communicated after you sign the contract)sent out a truck to pick up the chair and returned it that evening STILL all wrong. Jeff called and offered to just return all my monies and I said that I didn't want that. I wanted the chair as initially agreed upon. Jeff came out a week later, agreed he could repair and sent a truck out for a third time. Finally received my completed chair as requested 3 months later when was told it would be 3 weeks and no problem. Definitely communication problems within this family owned business.
Description of Work: I had a relax-the-back chair re-upholstered from black leather to a blue microsuede and repainted the wood. Greg Hasty came out for initial consultation, brought material samples and we discussed five changes to the re-upholstering of the chair. He said that they would have no problem accomplishing the changes and could have the chair finished in 3 weeks. I gave him the required 1/2 down payment. I also put in writing the specific changes and instructions and FAXED it to Greg and the office because you couldn't read the writing on Greg's contract. (This absolutely was a waste of time).
