 + -1 moreI contacted three hvac providers to give me a quote to replace both my furnace and air conditioner unit. Family hvac was the company I chose. Dave, the owner, did a thorough walk through the entire house. The other two companies only looked at the furnace and air conditioner unit and never walked through the home to check the return air vents etc. They were also the only company who called me back after Dave provided me a quote. Dave sat with me and shared all the options for my needs. I never felt pressured to purchase the higher priced units. I chose to go with Family because of the professionalism and attention to detail that was provided in the quote. My installation was scheduled for a monday but on Thursday evening, my air conditioner unit had a leak and which resulted in warm air coming from the vents. I called Dave and told him I had company coming in for the weekend and the temp was supposed to be near 90 degrees and asked what my options were. He said he would take care of it and had his son come out Friday afternoon and put some freon back in the unit to get us through the weekend. They did this at no charge. His crew showed up on time and spent the entire day installing my new furnace and outside unit. They were courteous and their workmanship was stellar. I use Angie's list in finding services and by far, Family hvac has been the best service provider we have hired.

 + -1 moreI highly recommend calling Family heating and air for your heating and cooling needs. I was very impressed with their willingness to go the extra mile, they have definitely earned a customer for life! My wife and I were at home with our first baby, a two-week-old newborn at the time, when our furnace went out... during an extreme cold snap! It was a Sunday evening and no other company would answer the phone. I reached one of the co-owners on the emergency line and explained my situation. He left dinner with his family to bring over some space heaters and take a look at the furnace. He was able to get the furnace running at about 30% its normal capacity and we made it through the night relatively warm. A technician arrived first thing the next morning and spent a couple hours diagnosing the old unit. We were quoted approximately $1500 to replace the heat exchanger on the old unit, but decided to upgrade to a newer high efficiency American Standard variable speed furnace. After we decided to replace the unit, two of the fastest technicians in the business had the old unit out and the new one running in a couple of hours! Our new furnace has been running reliably and quietly for the past few months, we could not be happier with our choice and the excellent service we received.

 + -1 moreFamily Heating & AC is wonderful! It is truly a family business that promises and delivers customer satisfaction. There is a huge advantage to having the person that does the sales call also working alongside others to make sure the system is properly installed (as is the case with Family Heating & AC). I obtained quotes from other larger companies and this was obviously not the case. The entire sales and installation experience was very pleasant. The quoted price was fair, especially for the quality of the products that were installed. Part of why I selected Family Heating & AC is that I could tell (and also have read) about the quality of the American Standard products they install; other brands that other companies offered seemed to be inferior. Also, I can't say enough about how much a variable speed system makes. Our old furnace used to be noisy and the temperature would fluctuate so much because it would blast out the heat in huge bursts with one powerful (and energy consuming) speed. With the new variable speed system we had installed, it quietly operates and only goes to the higher speed when needed. Also, we keep the fan running continuously on a low-low speed (when not blowing out heat) which seems to circulate the air better and keeps the entire house at a consistent temperature. Running the motor continuously also supposedly can reduce wear-and-tear on the motor. Still waiting to make use of the AC...
Description of Work: Installed American Standard GOLD ZM 95% efficiency variable speed furnace. Also installed American Standard Silver SI 13SEER 2 1/2 Ton A/C with Evaporation Coil. WIth switch to 95% efficiency furnace, also installed new flue liner for water heater. Installed Honeywell Digital Thermostat and Honeywell media filter.

 + -1 moreCame in as promised, replaced my old furnace and A/c same day, removed the old equipment.
Description of Work: I had my furnace tuned in preparation for the oncoming winter. Some dangerous issues were found in my almost 20 year old furnace, some concerns why these were not seen before. Although I have a home warranty the warranty company would not pay for the repairs as some previous repairs has not been correctly completed...although the repairs had been undertaken by the warranty companies preferred repairer, Jakes Heating and Air and Mainstreet Mechanicals. Going back and forth with the warranty company they finally agreed to cover some of the cost. Rather than repair the 20 year old furnace I wanted to replace the whole system, I had been waiting for this since I bought the house 3 years before. I shopped 5 HVAC companies, Family Heating were the last supplier we spoke with. I met with 4 suppliers one day and my wife met with Family the following day. Maybe they felt under pressure being last and not having an opportunity to speak with me but the quality of equipment they quoted for was better/more efficient than the competition and at a better price. My wife was very impressed with David Morris. I spoke with David the following day he seemed very genuine. They installed a complete American Standard HVAC system just a couple of days after quoting for it. Nice people, high efficient product and great price. I share the same last name with David Morris but am not related in anyway and had never met him prior to this inquiry.

 + -1 moreOur 20 year old furnace and AC units were in need of replacement. We began the frustrating process of getting estimates for new units. We got estimates from several companies - at least one of which was much less than honest. Family Heating & Air was by far the best company we dealt with. Mr. Morris came to the house to do the estimate. He spent a long time going over options and explaining what each option meant and how it would work in our house. He was very patient and explained everything in a way that was easy to understand! Hiring Family Heating & Air was a no brainer for us! On the day of installation, the prep technician showed up early and got right to work, then the Mr. Morris and his son arrived for with the equipment for installation. They did a great job with the installation and did a complete clean up. Before leaving they made sure we understood how to use the new programmable thermostat and answered any questions we had. After the installation, Mr. Morris also helped with the rebate applications and associated documentation. When we ran into a minor problem with one of the rebates, Mr. Morris quickly got us the document we needed to complete the rebate. We are very happy with Family Heating & Air and plan to use them for our annual maintenance.

 + -1 moreMy heat quit working. A different company came out and told me my old unit had to be replaced. The owner of Family AC -- David Morris gave me a 2nd opinion. He showed me the part that needed to be replaced and quoted me a repair price or the price to replace the old unit. The 1st company lied and only wanted to sell me a new furnace. Family AC gave me the option to repair my old unit or to upgrade to a new unit. They installed a quality unit at a very fair price. ($3000.00 less than the other company) I had 3 or 4 other companys quote me a price for the new unit and Family offered the BEST Value !! David Morris, Marcus Morris and Gary have all done high quality work for me on the new system. I got a great unit at a great price. I would highly recomend Family AC and Heating !!!!!!

 + -1 more10/25/12 My initial review is below however I wanted to submit an update. David Morris arrived at my home promptly to inspect the installation that was made 6/18/12. I was told the installation was "not up to code." David assured me that it was and offered to brace the area I was concerned about; he also offered to secure a piece of wood into place that had been cut out by the previous owner. I would like other users of Angie's List to know this company has put the service back into customer service. David was very amiable and asked if there was anything else he could do to assist me. I called several companies however Family Heating and Air was the only company readily available. I am late submitting my review because I forgot; it has nothing to do with the service I received. The technicians were prompt and professional; explaining time frames and what the process would be. I rated the price with a C because I have no idea what the going rate for replacing a blower on a unit would be. $3,000.00 seemed steep to me but with 90 plus degrees and asthma I was not in a position to bargain hunt or delay.
Description of Work: Four months after my initial installation I had a concern about if the installation was up to code. My air went out and a new blower was installed.

 + -1 moreOur air conditioner and gas furnace were very old (20+ years) and needed to be replaced. Our air conditioner stopped working, so we called Family Heating to get an estimate. David Morris came out when we asked him and he explained our options. We chose a heat pump/gas furnace system. His team arrived the following week to install the system. The whole team was professional and worked hard all day in very high heat to get the system installed. They were professional, and left the house neat and tidy. A cover for one opening had to be ordered, and they came back within a week or two to install the cover as promised. I will continue to use Family Heating to service our furnace and AC, and wouldn't hesitate to use them again to install a heating/cooling system.

 + -1 moreOur heating/A-C system (installed by another contractor) had been replaced 8 years ago. The compressor on the A-C failed and the prior contractor was not willing to assist us in any way. So we needed to find another heating/A-C contractor. We checked Angie's list and found the name of Family Heating and Air Conditioning. The reviews were good so we hired them to replace our system. The installers worked for 11 hours on a hot day making the installation. They were able to service us quickly and we are now enjoying cool air. Good job!

Got a really helpful, bright, receptionist/office manager. Service tech (owner) came out the next day. Cleaned, inspected, replaced the thermocouple so the pilot would stop going out. I had an immediate positive reaction to the service tech. And I go to use the Angies List coupon which saved me $90.

 + -1 moreDavid came out to diagnose the issue with my air conditioning unit/system on time and called before he came. He noted that the system was extremely low on coolant and needed to be recharged and found the source of the problem as well. We scheduled a repair but later I needed some additional time to gather the funds for the work. They offered financing, however I preferred to get the full amount together for payment due at time of repair. I rescheduled soon after and they accommodated my schedule. I even allowed them to do the work while I was gone for the day. I came home to a working system and an extremely refreshing, cool house. Their professionalism was top notch. Thanks Family Heating and Air Conditioning.

 + -1 moreDavid answered when I called and he was able to come out the next day for an estimate. He called before he came and was right on time. He was quickly able to diagnose my filter problem and gave me an option for either replaceable filter or washable. He quoted me a very reasonable price for the vents and made recommendations for the best airflow for my basement. He was able to get started the next day. He and a couple guys came out the next day, arrived on time and worked diligently. They were short one part that they made me aware of and was able to get the part the next morning. They promptly came back the next day and finished the job. David also pointed out errors that the original HVAC company made when installing the unit and made recommendations on things to do to make our house more efficient. I will definitely be calling him back to make some of the updates as soon as I can. They are very professional and I Highly Recommend them to anyone looking for an honest company.
Description of Work: I called David for an estimate to put some vents in my basement and check the furnace filter. I had trouble fitting the filter properly and the company that had initially installed it did not mention to me that it took a special order filter. I was trying to go to local hardware stores to find something that fit.

Gray was courteous and thorough, and diagnosed the problem quickly. Our motor needed to be replaced. Gary had the part at the house by 3:30, and the repair was done before 5 PM. The price was reasonable, and the service quick and efficient. We would call them again.

 + -1 moreThese guys were great from start to finish:-) From the time I called the morning of 16 January till when the job was finished 17 January it was an A++++++. The company that came out last year this time said that is was my sensor so when i called that morning that is what I told Mr. David and he recommend that I get a cleaning which I did and after the cleaning it was running fine but as soon as he moved some wires around it would turn off. After a few minutes of that he figured out that I needed a new furnace control. The next day it was installed and is working like new:-) I got to work the next day and recommended them and telling everyone about the great job they did. I wish I would have found them a year ago and I wouldn't have been out of $300+ paying another company (Sweets Heating and Cooling) to do nothing. Great work guys:-)Ne
