We have used the same auto repair service and I always recommend them to people. We have used them since we moved back to Indianapolis in 1985. They are just very honest and very competent. They take great care of you. We have been going to them since 1985. What stands out about them is their honesty and integrity first. With auto repair you are sometimes at their mercy, but if they can fix something really cheap, they do it. They are also very competent. They have kept our cars in really good shape. They have lasted forever. I will use them in the future. I can't imagine going to anybody else.

When I moved to Indy 25 years ago, a guy I worked with recommended Downtown Car Care to me. I have been using them for 25 years. (I just realized they are on Angie's List.). They have serviced the following cars for me: Renault, Pontiac Grand Am, Dodge Caravan, Oldsmobile Sillohette, and Honda Odyssey. I have always been able to get an appointment when I needed one and the service is great. Several times, I have compared their prices to that of the dealer and they are consistently 40-60% less than the dealer. They always call to tell me what the problem is and offer solutions along with the proce before completing the work. I know nothing about cars and I trust their judgement. If you at or near the Lilly Corporate Center, you can walk to the shop, but they'll give you a ride if you ask! I have reccomended Downtown Car Care many times!

This place is excellent. I use them for all my car needs. They are very quick and efficient.

Electric-powered sliding door on side of minivan was broken. First, the powered part has not worked for may months. Then the door functioning totally stopped. The door was closed and locked and I could not get it open. I decided to take it to a different place than usual. Walked in the garage a little late, wondering if they could look at it today. This was 9:30am. They were not too busy so they said they would check it out and let me know. Then gave me a ride to work. They kept me informed of what they found and what it would take to fix it. And the fixed it fast. It was done by 2:30. Same day. They called when it was ready. They picked me up when I was ready. They were very quick about the pick-up too. I only asked them to fix the broken door latch. They also reprogrammed the door so that the power part now works. They also repaired the weather stripping that was falling off the door. These extras were done at no extra charge. My door works! I am very excited.

I was meeting a used vehicle seller downtown and needed to get the vehicle inspected before the purchase. I looked on Angie's List and found them and saw they had good reviews. The shop is run by some older guys that take real pride in how they treat their customers. One guy took the car out for a test drive and then they put it on the rack and thoroughly looked it over. They made several recommendations pertaining to maintenance issues and gave me their recommendation on a fair price point. Overall, very thorough and glad I spent the $82 on an inspection. Worth the peace of mind.

It's a bummer that I had to call on Downtown Car Care so soon after visiting them, but I do drive an old car! My 1994 Honda (Betty) severely overheating and was revving while at a stop. I noticed this in the evening yesterday while driving on the highway and barely limped home before my "Check Engine" light blinked on. I called early in the morning and they squeezed me in today, where the problem with my cooling system was discovered. Owner Mike Potter picked me up at my workplace downtown after they patched Betty up. Downtown Car Care is going to continue to be my go-to place for car troubles.

I still think Downtown Auto Care is a great mom-n-pop shop. I realized I was overdue for an oil change, called them on Wednesday and they said they could fit me in the following day. I dropped my car off and Mike gave me a ride to work. I had asked them to look at a problem that seemed to be developing with my windshield wipers. They called and detailed the labor cost to examine my wipers and the possible charges for several scenarios since they couldn't be sure what the problem was until they began the work. They later called and updated me as to what the problem was. They ended up having to get a part from Honda, but they explained that charge and in the end it wasn't too terribly much. I appreciate their good communication, how nice they were and how promptly they made the repair. I will continue to patronize this business.

He advised that the belts just needed to be tightened and took care of it on the spot. He even did it for FREE. I was extremely impressed that he would do this for me and I would highly recommend him... especially to those working downtown Indy. I'll go back to him for future service. THANKS MIKE!

They were very helpful. They dropped me to work. They were very good at explaining what needed to be fixed. They picked me up form work.

They did good work. They are much better priced than the dealership or even other service jobs. They get the work done in the day. I've never had a situation where they haven't been able to do something in a normal 8-hour day.

I called Downtown Car Care after a vibration I detected while driving my 1994 Honda on the highway became apparent at lower speeds. I dropped my car off a couple of days later and Bob gave me a ride to work. He called later that morning and told me I needed to replace two tires and quoted me a fair price for the tires, labor and an oil change. Later that afternoon I was able to retrieve my car, which is now running great. All in all, it was a painless experience, which is what I'm looking for when I go to the mechanic. Next time I need service, I will definitely return to this quality mom-n-pop auto shop.

Excellent shop, great owner, and superb customer service. I live downtown so I ran home after dropping my car off. When I ran back with my dog to pick up the car and pay, the owner stepped from behind the counter to pet my dog and ask questions about her. It is a very small thing, but I felt valued as a customer and will certainly be back.

I have brought my 1999 Ford Explorer to them three times since I moved to Indianapolis nine months ago. They are courteous and extremely professional and they know a great deal about cars. They are great at diagnosing vehicle problems and they will not charge you for needless repairs and service. They are upfront about the price and do not talk down to women like too many of the other car repair personnel out there.

I took my 1964 Impala to Downtown Car Care after checking Angie's List and soliciting my downtown neighborhood listserv. I purchased the car a couple weeks ago knowing that it was going to need some work, but I didn't know what all I was in for. The boys at Downtown Car Care helped me understand what was needed without offering a bunch of extra services. Needless to say, a 44-year-old car requires a lot of work and therefore money. I dropped off the car off on Monday and by Friday I had a car that rode like the day she left the showroom. We also put together a plan to attack some of the other problems over the next couple years. It was a delightful experience and nice to see a bunch of guys who genuinely like what they do and take pride in it. I will admit that I like knowing that the owner had his hands on my car, kinda makes you feel like he still takes pride in the work.

Bob drove my car for ten minutes, checking out the handling and engine. We got back to the shop and he told me that everything was fine, especially for the price I was paying for the vehicle. I asked him what I owed for the inspection, and he didn't charge me at all! That's why my grandmother only took her car to Mike and Bob! They are the most honest repair shop I have ever visited.

I took my car there on 6/1/07. The owner is a guy name Mike Potter. A really nice guy. My car was making a noise in the front right side. Mike gave me a lift to work. Later Mike found that I had a broken coil spring in the right front and the left front spring was about to go too. Mike pointed out that there was a recall by Ford on this problem and that a Ford dealer could fix it for free. He only charged me $30 for the diagnosis. I would definitely use him again and would recommend him to you as well.

AS A WOMEN I OFTEN FEEL TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF IN THESE SITUATIONS, BUT THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE USED THEIR SERVICES AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO IN THE FUTURE.

I FEEL LIKE THEY ARE DOING THE WORK THAT IS NEEDED AND NOT OVER CHARGE OR SAY I NEED WORK THAT I DON'T. I'VE USED THEM FOR FOUR YEARS NOW AND HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH THEIR SERVICE.

A PART I WAS TOLD WOULD COST $50 WAS ACTUALLY UNDER $10. THEY LOOKED IT OVER GAVE ME A COST AND FINISHED THE WORK QUICKLY. PROVIDE RIDES INTO DOWNTOWN.

I WORK DOWNTOWN - I PLANNED TO WALK BUT THEY DROVE ME TO MY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT, CALLED WHEN MY CAR WAS FINISHED AND CAME TO PICK ME UP. VERY COURTEOUS.

THEY ARE INEXPENSIVE AND ALWAYS HELP YOU WITH THE BEST OPTIONS FOR REPAIR WORK. CAN PICK YOU UP FROM WORK OR HOME AND TAKE YOU BACK AS WELL.
