So we waited, kept in contact, and when the weather cleared enough for three or more days of decent weather, they tore off three old brittle layers, made much needed repairs to the roof structure as it had absorbed water over the course of time and winter, what with the icing/thawing process during the season. They replaced the decking and installed the new shingles in one long day and were here until sundown. The contractor even gave me $100 off the original quoted price for being patient and still wanting them to do the work! They were very thorough and I am happy to report there are no runs, drips or errors that I can find!?
Description of Work: I've been in my house for ten years and had only done what I could afford for the upkeep and maintenance. While I consider myself fairly versatile in different areas of repair, painting, electrical, plumbing, etc. I am no roofer. Before I moved into my home the people I was buying the home from had replaced the roof on the house and garage, but ironically had not replaced the roof over the front porch?! I wanted to get it done and within the first year and a half of taking ownership I had researched shingles and what it would take to do it myself etc. I fell on harder times in the ensuing years and had to be quite frugal with my cash flow for awhile. So the porch roof took a backseat. In the last year I noticed through the upstairs bedroom window the roof beginning to sag and during this last winter out near the eaves it fell through!!! Needless to say after joining Angie's List I researched roofers in my area, read evaluations and testimonials and chose one that was highly rated with a good overall record. I called them, they came out, looked over the roof, assessed the problem and quoted me solutions in writing. Of course the weather was uncooperative during the two months after the initial quote and would have been a safety issue what with the ice/snow right before the spring thaw.

Matt Miller, salesman/liaison gave highest quality of professional service! Perfect in every respect! Returned calls within an hour or two. Went repeatedly on site with a team to fine tune. Worked on weekends because of my desperate situation. In all my years as a property owner facing maintenance problems, I have NEVER received such exemplary service: responsive, professional and competent. I didn't know it was possible anymore because I am almost universally disappointed, even with some Angie vendors. Matt Miller and Coomer Roofing deserve an award for being unique in value and customer service! Can't praise enough!
Description of Work: Responded promptly to my email with brochure and phone follow up. Re-roofed commercial building. Revised features of the estimate at my request cheerfully and promptly. The most reasonable bid BY FAR with same specs which I requested. Work had to be done in winter under adverse, even dangerous conditions because restaurant was in danger of shut down due to leaks. Went immediately and tore off old roof and put on new roof, working continuously with a large team to complete it in several days despite cold, snow and ice at the time.

Project was started the last week of October, not settled until January. The shingle work went very well, with the exception of about $800.00 of electrical damage done, and the trash from the garage sat in the yard for about four days. They only did a part of the garage roof at first, had to call and remind them it was all of the surfaces. They did remove the $800.00 from final bill without question. The challenges seemed to be with the company sub-contracted for metal work. They did not show up for two weeks, when they took the existing metal off, it was thrown all over the yard, including inside my fenced containment area for my two dogs. There were slivers of metal and screws everywhere, including inside the area where my dogs are. The metal was left strewn about for weeks, I finally collected some of it up. I called Coomer multiple times. I even had to take photos of the piles of trash and sent them to get addressed. Overall, very disappointed with the metal work and mess left.
Description of Work: Had several buildings re-roofed due to hail damage. Included house roof (shingles), garage roof (shingles), small out building (metal), large pole barn (metal) and several porch awnings (metal). Also had all guttering replaced, and additional gutter added to the garage where none existed previously. All roofs were stripped down to decking & removed, they did not shingle on top of shingles. It should be clearly noted, the shingle work was done exceptionally well, they were fast, tidy and efficient. This is the companies primary role. The metal work is contracted out, and that included gutters. They were slow, inefficient and unprofessional. Dom and owner both were very responsive to addressing my issues, and comp'd back all costs associated with repairs due to metal worker damage. They were very fair, it was just a very frustrating and long, drawn out experience.

Both jobs were done professionally and efficiently. They have a policy of doing all the work in one day! They make sure they have enough guys for the job and get the old shingles all torn off, any structural repairs, and then putting on the new shingles all in one day: no covering your roof with plastic overnight in case of rain.
Description of Work: We had new shingles put on our house along with repairing of some of the roof structure 2 years ago. Then they came back out to replace it all again after the big hail storm last year.

Once I made a decision, they were very prompt in following up with the business quickly. It got done within 2 weeks after I had picked the tile. They showed up around 6:30 one morning and two crews worked straight through until about 3:30. It looks great. I was amazed.

It went great. Please see other narrative.
Description of Work: In November 2007, Coomer Roofing came in and rescued me from a very poorly done November 2006 roof installation. They tore off the old roof, laid new decking where needed, and upgraded the gutters at my request and expense. They were very sensitive to the dilemma I had endured for a year. Within 10 days of signing the contract, I had a new roof and gutters. They were very attentive and communicative throughout the entire process. On top of all that, they handed me warranty papers for the shingles and for their workmanship, something the other company never offered.

Initially no reply to email inquiry, but my insurance adjuster contacted Dom Battinau directly--the insurance company had done business w/ Coomer on a number of occasions, and recommended them highly. Dom came out the next day, got me a competitive estimate and even suggested a type of shingle to complement the color of the siding. I was pretty skeptical after talking with several other roofing companies about the job, but never got the sense of a suspicious deal with Coomer. The work was done in one day, w/ beautiful clean-up. They also got to me sooner than anticipated.

Coomer roofing did excellent work and told me what exactly needed to be done. I have had a couple of roofing contractors stop by and tell me my roof needs replaced because of this problem and it would cost $10,000.00. Dom with Coomer roofing was extremely honest and told me exactly what needed to be done, and that my roof was fine, and they could install a gutter guard to fix the problem. He provided an estimate on the spot, they showed up 2 days later and did everything the said they would. They cleaned everything up. I could not be happier. I will use Coomer Roofing again for all my roofing needs because of the honesty, integrity, and professionalism.

Brad King prepared a careful and detailed bid, and the work/materials were exactly as bid. The work was scheduled for cooler weather to avoid damaging new shingles on steep roof, which was fine since there were no leak issues. The work crew was efficient and extremely hard-working. The finished appearance is excellent and the clean-up was thorough.

I called and he came out to provide an estimate. Communication was excellent in the beginning. There were a few minor details I wanted him to look at and he came out promptly after my call. He said the work looked like it was done by the "textbook." He did agree on one area of our roof where the ridge vent was somewhat bent. Someone must have come out because it appears better but was not contacted when this was done. I called to follow up after two weeks and he came out again to take a look at it and noticed there was a slight dip in the roof over the sunroom and said someone must have been up there. Well yeh?! No communication if it needed to be taken care of. It appears o.k. to me and trust that it won't cause a problem down the road. What I didn't care for was that all our gutter guards but the ones over the sunroom were pitched! Overall, I am satisfied.

Our flat roof began leaking, which was not a surprise because it has leaked repeatedly in the past. Coomer got the job because they were the only one of four companies that responded to our request for an estimate. (This was the spring after the big hail storm and many roofers were too busy to take on new projects.) The initial work crew they sent was not prepared to do the work we needed and openly criticized Coomer's estimator for specifying rubber rather than shingles. Coomer did not schedule the next crew until we were on vacation. Although we asked them to wait until we returned, they did the work while we were still away. The only evidence they had been there was a little roofing debris, so they cleaned up very well. We have no actual proof that the work was done as specified, since we can't climb on the roof to inspect it. We do know that their job fixed the leak, for which we are grateful.
Description of Work: Replaced shingles on a flat leaky part of our roof with rubber roofing, which will supposedly be less likely to leak than shingles.

This company was listed as one of several that our insurance adjuster believed would provide good service. We selected them based on their excellent reviews on Angie's List. They were prompt and thorough in providing an estimate and gave us a firm installation date. They did the work on the scheduled day for the estimated amount and they did an excellent job of removing waste and cleaning up at the end of the day. We are very pleased with the results.

In 2006 everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Brad King, the salesman was as concerned as I was, and spent the next several months considering the best way to resolve the problems. Earlier this year Doug Miller, the company owner, called me and told me that the company would completely re-roof everything again at no cost to me. This time the work was done professionally. There still were some minor problems, but Coomer truly went the extra mile to satisfy me, so I ignored those minor problems. I have to give a thumbs up to Brad King and to Doug Miller for not being satisfied with a poor job. By the way, Coomer did not bill me until the job was done right.

Dom Battinau had said all materials would be removed from/loaded onto roof from driveway, eliminating damage to landscaping. Instead workers used heavy tarps and dumped old material directly on plants, crushing several and damaging others. Several deck boards and handrails were damaged by falling debris. Coomer replaced those on request. Gutter workers left a LOT of debris, as well as paint on decking, even after it was called to Coomer's attention. Damage to driveway during delivery of product reported/photographed, but never mentioned again. In sales pitch, Battinau said pre-existing "dips" in roof would be unnoticeable with new roofing product, This did not turn out to be so, and he then told me that there was no way it would ever look level without replacing decking. Lack of communication between sales/foreman/roofers/gutter workers overall, both in English and Spanish. Final gutter fix and metal "splash guards" re-installed in front after at least 8 calls; still inadequate.
Description of Work: Tear off 2 layers and re-roof. Install new ridge vents and close up unused vent holes, redo flashing in valleys and around chimney, remove and replace all gutters and downspouts.

The 8 man crew showed up on time, laid tarps around the house and tore off the old roof, vents boots, flashing, etc. They installed the felt, roof, ridge vents, boots and flashing and cleaned-up in 12 1/2 hours. A foreman came by about every 3 hours to see if everything was OK. The owner, Mr. Miller, stopped by once. One crew member constantly cleaned-up all day. They spent about the last hour picking-up. The trailer containing the debris and the pallet of extra shingles were left overnight and picked-up the next morning. They left me a full bundle of shingles and a full bundle of ridge shingles for any future repairs.
Description of Work: My old roof was completely removed, along with the old pod vents. The sheathing where the pod vents were was replaced with new sheathing, felt and Owens-Corning Oakridge 30 year algae resistant shingles were installed along with ridge vents and new boots and flashing on all soil pipes and flues. They also painted the boots, soil pipes and flue to match to roof color.

Extremely satisfied with the service and interaction I had with Matt Miller from Coomer Roofing. He delivered what he promised. When I asked Matt and 2 other roofing companies in the Angie's List to get me a quote, Matt was the first to come out and provide the quote that was itemized with material and labor clearly defined. Material cost seemed a bit higher, but the overall cost was very reasonable. Matt promptly returned my calls on questions and, furthermore, he was very receptive to updating the quote to compete with other company's services. Matt promptly provided multiple samples - on the date/time he promised - and picked them up on the day he said he would. :-) A crew of about 5 came out around 10 am and finished the job before 3 pm. The yard was cleared of any noticeable debris. Matt inspected the work the next day before mailing the invoice. Matt was very courteous in every respect. I would work with him again if I had another roof to fix or replace.

The price was to include new shingles and sealing vents across the top of the house and around the flue areas. I needed to get another estimate and the other company gave me a higher quote but it did include new boots around the vent. I spoke to the Coomer representative (MATT gave me his cell phone # so I was able to speak directly to him rather than going through the secretary) and he agreed to complete the additional work for his original lower price quote. I was impressed! I was also afraid of heavy rains over the weekend and he agreed to complete the job the very next day, although it was going to really stretch their schedule for that day. I have never worked with a company that cooperative and prompt. They bent over backward to complete the work. It was the best experience I have ever had with a company. It was also my first experience of using Angie's List. If I have another roof problem or someone I know needs a reference they would be my first choice.
Description of Work: I had a leaking roof and I observed that there were shingles missing from the roof. I called Angie's list and purchased a membership. Then, I talked to the representative and we discussed my problem. I went on line to look at the roofing companies and I selected 4 that had good ratings. I made phone calls to all 4 on the list to find out about the time frame for getting an estimate and finding someone to fix the roof. Coomer roofing was the only that I was able to make a personal contact (MATT) and talk to someone that first day. The other 3 were difficult to reach (two had answering machines, but did not get back to me until days later. One of the others could do the work but could not schedule until two or more week). When I spoke to the Coomer representative he agreed to come out that very day and assess the damage and give me an estimate. He was very cooperative and enthusiastic. He came out, looked at the roof and got back to me the SAME DAY with a reasonable price.
