 + -1 moreDoug came out, checked the roof, and gave an estimate for the cost of the repair. He said it could be one of three things, shingles in the valley, shingles around the chimney, or the gutter apron along the back gutter. He suggested we repair all three areas. He ordered eight bundles of shingles to do the repair work. What I didn't like is that when I asked to see the invoice for the shingles, he never produced it, and I also asked him to itemize the invoice for me, and he said he couldn't. I just would have liked to have a better idea of what I was paying for. He did the work when he said he would, and the roof is not leaking anymore.

 + -1 moreI had to live with tarps on my roof for about 6 weeks but in the end all was fine. No interior water damage and they were able to exactly match my roof that, at the time was only a year old.
Description of Work: Repaired roof decking and shingling after tree(s) fell on my house. The first tree was large and crushed two different parts of my roof. Before the repair could be scheduled, a 2nd storm caused a large limb to pierce another part of my roof. Coomer repaired decking and shingles, but also rebuilt soffits, remounted guttering that had been pulled off and replaced wooden siding.

 + 0 moreWork was efficient and looks good. The representative came to our house and answered my questions about options and prices. They left some samples and followed up a few days later - made the decision process run smoothly. Work was completed on schedule. Only minor complaint was the mediocre cleanup of discarded staples and small shingle pieces around the house afterward - not awful, but could have been done better. Also had a very positive follow-up experience with this company: About nine months after the gutters were installed, a nasty ice storm brought down a 12-foot section of the gutters due to the excessive weight of ice buildup. I called Coomer and within 48 hours they repaired the entire section of gutter free of charge. They didn't debate me about the repair, they just said "no problem" and took care of it at their first opportunity. The repaired section works fine and has had no subsequent problems.

 + -1 moreWe had been contemplating who we were to hire for these two jobs and while visiting a friend one day who happened to be getting her roof replaced by Coomer we asked for them to estimate the two jobs for us. Not only did we get results within two hours we had the pleasure of meeting one of the most efficient business man we've ever encountered! He gave the estimates which were right on with our approximate figures. We scheduled the work to be done. They were prompt, fast, neat and thorough.

 + -1 moreAfter a storm, I noticed two wet spots on my garage ceiling just below the roof seam. I called Coomer and an estimator came out on a Monday (the same day I called) to provide a quote, which was very competitive. He quoted the roof repair and said they could sub-contract someone to fix the drywall on the ceiling. He said they could do the roof work the next day and the drywall shortly thereafter. No one showed the next day, or any other day that week despite several phone calls to the estimator and many promises that the work would be completed the next day. The following weekend, we received the large storm that dumped over 6 inches of rain, which made the roof damage significantly worse. I called the following Monday and told them to forget the whole thing. They ended up calling back and offered to do the roof repair for free. They completed the roof work and said they would arrange for a subcontractor to do the drywall work in the next few weeks. That was mid-June and it is now mid-September and I have not heard a word from Coomer. They ended up doing a great job on the roof repair, but the entire experience was a total disaster and I would never do business with this company again, much less refer them to anyone else.
Description of Work: Replaced a section of flashing and shingles to stop a leak around one of the roof seams.

 + 0 moreAfter calling several companies (all listed on Angie's List), this was the first company that came out and gave a thoughtful estimate. Dom really knew his stuff - he explained why the previous roof had failed and even commented on my neighbor's roof naming the type of shingle and color which she confirmed. Scheduling was difficult due to winter weather, but they were persistent and got the work done when we had a break in the weather in March. Clean-up wasn't quite up to par. It took two calls to get the remainder of the roofing material removed from my neighbor's yard. There was a leak around the chimney (not un-expected on an old house) which they come out promptly to fix. A leak around the skylights became visible a few weeks later during a severe storm. This one took two calls to get resolved. With the weather we've experienced this year, it's been like extreme testing the work and it's holding - no more leaks - beautiful skylights - a price that nobody else could beat.

 + -1 moreI wasn't totally satisfied with them. I waited too long for them to start the job. The gutters leak. I'm not happy with the sky lights that they put in, and on one side of the house they didn't put the snow guard even though it was in the contract.

 + -1 moreThe roofing vents on our eight year home allowed snow to drift into our home and cause staining of ceilings and walls. The style of roofing vents used by the builder was causing this problem for many neighbors as well. This company was recommended and Matthew Miller was very professional when explaining the work needing to be done. We liked the company but thought their price was high until we got other estimates. Coomer's price was more than $100 less than competitors and they included additional work which other companies considered as an add on. Also, the installers were battling a very rainy period where it was difficult to schedule the work. We were rained out twice however the installers were very easy to work with. They kept us up to date on when the weather would allow the work to be completed. We are very pleased with Coomer's work and their pricing.
Description of Work: They replaced 86 feet of ridge vent on our roof with shingle vent II Weathered Wood. They caulked both side walls step and counter flashings. They also replaced curled up shingles on our garage.

 + -1 moreI called Coomer Roofing following one of Indy's terrible wind and rainstorms at the beginning of June because of the ceiling in the living room appearing wet. Left a message with their service and the call was returned to me in an hour. We set up a meeting for the next day to meet Matt Miller at my home to inspect the problem. I called back later in that day to ask him to be prepared to do at least temporary repairs (tarp, etc.) because more storms were predicted. He and his repair person were prompt (early, in fact) and they quickly assessed the problem, which fortunately, was simpler than I thought it would be. The repair guy installed new shingles, repaired others, tacked down some loose ones, and gave a good thorough once-over for the whole roof. Matt Miller was especially helpful and nice. He noticed a clogged gutter and cleaned it out for us! Now, that's service - and he was smiling the entire time. I would definitely call them again.
Description of Work: Replaced missing shingles with new ones, repaired shingles that had been installed incorrectly by a previous roofer, tacked down loose shingles, and checked the entire roof for any loose or damaged shingles.

If the Coomer Roofing had done the job they promised and actually examined our roof or inspected it, we wouldn't be paying close to $30,000 to have the entire mess fixed. I am so disappointed and upset about this mess because it could have been avoided if we had gotten proper information and had the leak fixed before it became overwhelming.
Description of Work: This is the e-mail I sent to the company president: Last year we contacted you to see if we had hail damage on our roof and to see where a leak in our bedroom originated. I got your name from Angie's List. You said a roof inspection would cost $500. We agreed to pay for the inspection. You sent a person out who climbed onto our roof and "inspected" it for a matter of minutes--I was here and I can guarantee he was on our roof no more than 10 minutes--and pronounced it just fine. We were charged, and paid, $500. Our leak continued. Because our roof was damaged and improperly flashed our leak continued and our drywall is now soaked and there is mildew, mold and rot. It turns out your inspector was wrong, we did have hail damage and several other problems with our roof that has caused us to have a lot of of drywall repair on 20 foot tall walls & ceilings, a rebuilt chimney due to faulty flashing and a brand new roof all from a hail storm 2 years ago. I am very disappointed in your company. I feel like we were cheated out of $500 for a bum inspection and because we actually BELIEVED what your man told us we face a nightmare of reconstruction costs and drywall replacement that could have been avoided if your employee had done his job. Thanks for nothing!
