I was extremely pleased with the service I received from Broad Ripple Tree Service. I had called another tree service several weeks earlier for an estimate but they never came out. I called Broad Ripple on the afternoon of 4/16/15 and was told that someone would come out to give an estimate later that day or the following day. Jerry came out a few hours later and gave me the estimate. I said that I would like them to do the work and he said they would be out the next day, which they did. Within less than 24 hours of calling them, I had the tree completely removed and everything was cleaned up very nicely. I was also very pleased with the price.
Description of Work: They removed a dying tree; ground out the stump and leveled the area.

I think I have used them twice. I would give them A overall, they did a good job on taking the tree down. For the price, I negotiated and haggled with them so I give them A. I didn't like their original quote. I worked with them. I like that my house is still standing. They cleaned all the stuff off the roof. I had a couple of trees that had crossed the house, they took them down and were careful. They didn't tear up my yard. They were mindful of my property. They were fast, efficient and took everything away.

The first time they came out they barely touched the pear trees. I had to call them back out to finish the work on the pear trees. When they came back out, they didn't trim the branches I requested, they removed the limb completely. They should have trimmed the whole tree to shape it properly instead of removing the offending limb. Appalling job. When I first talked with the owner about the Pin Oak tree, we agreed that it just needed trimmed, and not severely. Upon close inspection of the Pin Oak, they topped the tree for no reason.and removed entire limbs. This was against the agreed upon plan and my wishes. Pin Oaks should never be severely trimmed. I'm hoping it survives. It doesn't look promising this spring. There were large branches and lots of debris left behind after the work. I expect to have to pick up some small branches and twigs, but having to clean up entire limbs and the rest of the debris they left was ridiculous. Never again will I consider hiring this company/.
Description of Work: Had them out to trim 2 Bradford Pear, 1 River Birch, and 1 Pin Oak tree.

We have used Broad Ripple Tree before and called them to remove 3 oak trees from our back yard. 2 of the 3 trees were right next to a fence that surrounds our pool, so we were worried about fence damage. Jerry gave us a competitive price and assured us that the fence did not need to be removed, and would not be damaged. They said that they would grind the stump as close to the fence as possible. Once we gave them the go ahead, they were there within 3 days and did a great job. They did not damage the fence and ground the entire stumps. They cleaned up the site nicely and did not damage the surrounding yard.

Needed firewood for first Thanksgiving in new house. They delivered the same day and unloaded/stacked for a minimal charge. I asked what kind of wood was delivered and if it was aged. I was told it was a mix of Ash and other hardwood and that it had been down for a while and would burn well. Quickly discovered it was all Ash and all green. Had to buy mass quantities of Fatwood and aged kindling and spend a great deal time tending the hissing fire to keep the wood lit. Very disappointing.

The work was done within the specified amount of time (4 hours). They showed up a bit late, but was it was rainy off-and-on in the morning. The crew was pleasant at first, but when we talked about some spots they had missed and areas we wanted them to trim, they weren't having it. They felt they knew better than the customer and wanted to go by how the estimate was "written up" instead of what we wanted. As the day went on, I don't know if they were frustrated with the size of the job, if there was miscommunication on what needed to be done, or what the problem was. Overall, the job was mostly done, though, so I couldn't be completely unhappy. They also had given me the best quote (as did 1 other local company). So I called the office to express my concerns. The owner sent people back out to address a couple of concerns. The interaction again wasn't pleasant by any means, but again, the job was done. Overall, the job was done. I didn't like my interaction with the crew doing to the job or the owner. I would not recommend this company unless it was a decision based solely on price and they came in substantially lower. And maybe if you weren't planning to be there while the work was done.

Estimate for work was requested online. The estimate was provided within one week. Work was scheduled within several days of request for service. Overall promptness was very good. Price estimate was low compared to other companies' estimates.I was not able to be present on site when the work was to be done. The 25-foot dead maple tree stood in the corner of our backyard while the mulberry trees and bushes were behind and along the garage. My major disappointment was the damage to the nearby plants when the maple tree was taken down. I expected damage/loss of the plants surrounding the tree but not all the plants along the back fence as far as 20 feet away from the tree.. It appears that the tree was felled too close to the plants along the back fence rather than onto the open lawn.It was fortunate that the back fence was not damaged as well. I realize that the workers may have been trying to avoid hitting the garage nearby but it certainly seemed that there was plenty of room to bring the tree down without hitting either the plants or the garage (the back fence and the garage form adjacent sides of the square back yard.with the dead tree near the corner). There was some debris left over but that was not a big deal. Most of our clean-up involved removing the damaged parts of the plants along the back fence.

This was a highly professional tree removal expert, and hard-working crew. My neighbor and I both had several trees to be removed. The largest one was on our property line, and we agreed to split the cost of removal 50/50. We put ribbons around the trees ahead of time and contacted the tree service by email to request an estimate. Within a few days, we received the estimate by email. They itemized the cost in detail, tree by tree, and billed me and my neighbor separately. I actually had about 10 companies do estimates. Broad Ripple was one of the two lowest estimates, and they could do the work without much delay. Also, they would do so without bringing a vehicle into my back yard. They arrived on the designated day and removed a total of six trees, 3 1/2 of them from my property, and these were 60-80 foot trees. The leader climbed the trees without using a cherry picker, and the ground crew assisted him with wheelbarrow-type ground equipment. No traffic damage to the lawn. They removed all of the pieces from my property and disposed of them. Also, they ground the stumps down to below the ground level. Everything was done in one day, and left clean. These were dead or dying ash and hickory trees that posed a threat to my or my neighbor's house, and I am very pleased with Broad Ripple Tree Service. This was my first time to have any contact with this provider, but it worked out very well.

They showed up on time and were very professional. The work was finished in relatively short time (cut down the maple tree, remove the surface roots, and grind the stump away). They did a great job cleaning up and this is the second time I have used them for tree service in my yard. A great all around experience and will use again!! RB

Two trees in our yard didn't leaf out well this year. I called Broadripple Tree and the woman who answered the phone asked if I could send pictures through email. I did and within an hour got an answer back to send in a picture with a bit more detail which I did. She got back to me within a couple of hours and said that she didn't think there was anything they could do but they could send someone out to look. In two days, a nice guy came out and said it was probably due to the drought last summer and the best thing to do would be to fertilize them and that next year when they (hopefully) leaf out again, they would be happy to come out and trim the dead wood out. He talked to us for about 15 minutes about the particulars. Awesome.

Everything from quote to the actual work went smoothly and I am very happy. My only complaint was they workers left a little mess. A couple Gatorade bottles, gloves etc. I also had a broken stone and peice of fence. In their defense it was raining pretty hard as they finished up. Overall this was a great experience and the quote was $500+ less than any other. So for $500 I'll clean up the little mess.

I want to say that from the very start, I was very pleased with the quality of the work performed by this team from Broad Ripple Tree Service. I got 4 estimates on this job and they were all more expensive than I had hoped to spend on this job. Three of the four estimates were within $50 dollars, and the other was way out there. When I decided we needed the job done anyway, I called and they said they were available as soon as the next day but we scheduled for early the next week as I needed to remove part of an existing fence for them to work around the tree. The day the work was scheduled they arrived right on time and after introducing ourselves to each other, they started to work. All five workers were comfortable giving me their names and let me talk to them although I kept my distance from them when they were working. This was a large tree, about 35 inches in diameter at the base. It was likely 80 feet tall. The head of the crew, Pedro, worked in the bucket up in the air. It was amazing to watch him fasten a rope high in the tree to use as anchor for lowering the larger limbs. Pedro and then Arnulfo, who worked from the ground, were able to plan the way that the limbs would fall so that they would swing away from my nearby tool shed. They were able to put the limbs right where they wanted them every time. Even limbs hanging over the shed went down and then swung away from the shed. When it was lunch time, they even cleaned up the work area and the street where the wood chipper was stationed. The whole crew which also included Tony, Mike, and Billy did a great job of cleaning up at the end of the job. The stump grinding made a lot of mulch and since the mulch truck was full, they asked if I would Iike them to put the stump mulch around some of our other trees. My 93 year old father and I watched the crew work and they did not seem to be annoyed by our constant presence. we also had some neighbors come by to watch the crew work. We were very pleased by the work done and glad to have met these hard working fellows.

We used Broad Ripple Tree Service two years ago and were impressed with their work and professionalism so we had them back to treat the 7 ash trees with the "tree-age" treatment. Holes are drilled in the base of the tree and they are infused with liquid chemicals to rid the tree of the ash borer. Treatment is recommended every two years. The two crewmembers were very efficient and the work was completed in a few hours. I asked for an estimate to remove deadwood from four trees and Jerry came out the next day. We scheduled the work and the crew of three did a great job. They called ahead of time to let us know when they would be there. They did a great job and cleaned up everything from the yard and driveway. They used a blower on the driveway and sidewalk to complete the job. I highly recommend Broad Ripple Tree Service. Everyone I dealt with from the office staff to the owner to the work crews were all professional and they always responded in a very timely manner.

Very disappointing service. Based on the good reviews here, I decided to change arborists and to have a new company do the annual checking of landscaping and spraying a crab apple tree. I called specifically due to some concerns I had that the harsh winter had damaged some of my boxwoods. I found the arborist to be argumentative with me, and when she did agree to come inspect my property...she gave me a date and never showed up. F all the way around. So, as a result of this poor experience, I've gone back to my previous company and have paid them several hundred dollars to perform annual services.
