The job went very well. Very efficient and hard working teams. Two workers treated the 7 ash trees and had most of that done by the time the other four workers arrived to take the trees down. All debris was cleaned up and we are very pleased with the work done. They asked us if they could drive their pick up to the back yard to aid in removing the debris. This was fine with us as the ground is rock hard but it was courteous of them to ask first. We would definitely use them again. Broad Ripple Tree is very prompt with the whole process from the estimating to the work being performed.
Description of Work: We had six dead ash trees removed with the stumps ground down. The trees were very large and required the use of a cherry picker for the two in the front yard. They climbed the four in the back yard but one of them was very large. They were very careful with the trees closest to the house. They removed all the debris with most being chipped on site. We also had 7 ash trees treated by another teaim hoping we can save those trees.

Crew of 4 arrived late afternoon. The lead tech and I walked the job. Once that was done, they started the work, each with their specific task(s) to do. They never stopped until all trees were down and debris shredded. They came with 2 trucks and put debris in both of them. Several rocks from our side driveway were brought into the concrete main driveway while dragging debris to the chipper. During cleanup, they made sure all errant rocks were put back into the side driveway.
Description of Work: Called broad ripple tree company to remove several small trees .Jerry ( the owner ) came out the same day we called. Gave us a wonderful price on the removal. The crew came to remove the trees within a week of calling. We have used this company several times before and they always do a great job. Always recommend them to family and friends.

They were great. Came out right away for an estimate. Their price ($250 for my pine and arbor vitaes, plus $75 to remove my neighbor's dead pine) was way below the other estimate I received. When I called to schedule, they already had a crew in my area. They came out that same afternoon and did the job. Only took about an hour. The crew was friendly and neat. I was very pleased with the work and price and would gladly use them again.
Description of Work: Removed two pine trees and three arbor vitaes. (I had already cut arbor vitaes down to stumps.) Ground out all five stumps and removed all debris.

I needed to remove dead tree without top and a couple branches on the other tree. First of all the Company was very responsive and easy to get a hold of. They provided competitive estimate (on a lower side), scheduled work very quickly, showed up on time and did a very good job. I was not at home at the time of service, but when I got back I did not see even traces of the work. Tree and branches were gone, and everything was neat and clean.

It all went very well even though the trees were in difficult spaces.
Description of Work: Jerry came and gave me an estimate the day I called. It was the best price of the Angies list companies I called. They came the next day and took down a really large dying elm tree that was hanging over our garage. They also cut down a catalpa that was under and in the power lines in our front yard. The crew was very professional and even cut up a smaller elm tree that had fallen in our yard.

Jerry arrived to give me an estimate within 24 hours. He was friendly and knowledgable. His estimate was better than his competitors and he got the job. The crew was efficient and productive. In just half a day, they got a lot of work completed and did a super clean up job. They did just what I asked them to do, and they did it well.

They continue to be my go-to tree service place.
Description of Work: For the last 2 years, they have sprayed out Hawithorne trees, and we do not seem to have the rust problem now; there are actually berries for the birds to eat in winter. Also, they are treating our ash, in hopes it will not get the emerald ash borer. They also gave an assessment of a tree, saying it only needed trimming, which we could do.

Very good experience. I never actually saw anyone in person, but everything was handled appropriately. I talked to someone on the phone about the trees to remove, got an estimate promptly, and scheduled the work. The trees were very large and in the woods behind my house. They removed all branches and the trunks. They left the area very neat, with little evidence that trees had ever been there. They must have carried the tree parts around the house to the driveway, but that area was left very tidy, too. I am a repeat customer and have always had good service from this company.

The initial communication was good. I called and w/in a day or so got an estimate placed on our front door knob for stump removal. I mentioned up front that the stump was along a fenceline and was told the estimator would take that into consideration when determining 1) if they could do the job and 2) the cost. Since we received an estimate, it was assumed that they could do the job w/o any issue. While the estimate was a little higher than anticipated based on reading other Angie's List reports, overall it was OK so I called back to have them come out. The logistics of scheduling were pretty easy....since I didn't feel I needed to be there when they did the job, they were going to come out at some point in the next week and complete the job and all I had to do was leave a check under our doormat for them to pickup which was all pleasantly "Mayberrian"....but things took a turn for the worse after that. My wife came home from work on a Friday to find that the backyard gate was wide open. While the stump was gone and the ground had been re-leveled satisfactorily, there was enormous hole in our fence. Since we have 2 dogs, the hole and wide open gate were not appreciated since if my wife had let the dogs outside before checking there'd undoubtedly have been a "jailbreak". The BRTS workers had moved my neighbor's trash cans over in a half-hearted attempt to partially cover the gaping fence hole (we had to augment the blockade). The workers left a hand written note in our mailbox indicating that someone would be back to fix the fence (my wife didn't see this note until after seeing the debacle...a phone call/message would've been more appropriate to let one of us know what we were coming home to!). I called their office about the situation and the operator stated she had to check w/ the owner to see if he was aware of the situation. She indicated the owner was....so my next question was how quickly could they get someone out to finish the job and repair the fence. The initial indication was a vague "next week". After firmly requesting for a more specific date and re-iterating the need to have a mended fence ASAP due to our dogs, I received a not-so-convincing indication that we'd be put near the top of the priority list. I could tell the operator, who was very nice, was not real comfortable dealing with a dissatisfied customer and that the owner wasn't going to get on the phone to speak with me so I left it at that. To their credit, someone came out the next Monday and fixed the fence by replacing the mangled section w/ a new one. There were some fence chain link found in the yard but overall clean-up was acceptable. When all was said and done, the stump was removed and I got a new section of fence so I was satisfied but there was definitely room for improvement!

A person came to look at our three dead trees the same day I called them. He listened to what I wanted done and gave me a clearly written proposal and estimate to cut down the trees, cut them into firewood length, and chip the branches to be left for me.
Description of Work: I had Broad Ripple Tree Service give me an estimate to have three dead trees cut down. They came the same day I called and gave me an estimate in writing at that time. Although we have had great work done by this company in the past, I decided to use a different company this time because Broad Ripple's estimate was quite a bit higher.

Wed 7/20: I originally called for an estimate to just deadwood some trees and raise the limbs on some others. Jerry came out and was able to work with my schedule so I could be there. He walked the property with me, I did not have a solid idea of which trees should be "trimmed" but he was able to help me decide. I brought up the dead pines and he knew right away what the problem was (Rhizosphaera) and recommended I treat the remaining live ones next spring when the treatment will actually work. One pine was still "ok" and we decided to wait until next spring to see how it was doing. We briefly discussed Emerald Ash Borer (I brought it up, i.e. he was not pushing services I did not ask him for). I had already had another company quote that treatment and was planning on using them to do the work, also I did not know that they were certified to use Tree-age. I asked for some advice on some "privacy trees" to plant in place of the pines that were going to be removed and he gave me some good suggestions. The quote was reasonable and I was happy with what I heard, I had already decided to use them at this point. Impressed so far. Thur 7/21: After thinking more about my experience I decided to have them come back out to estimate how much it would cost to treat all 11 of my Ash trees with Tree-age. I also wanted them to give me an estimate on planting 4-5 Arborvitae in place of the 2 dead pines. I know this must have been a nuisance since they were JUST at my house but they never gave that impression to me and seemed more than happy to come back out. Since the estimate was free I felt bad and hoped they didn't think I was abusing their free estimate policy. Either way they came back out the next day (Friday afternoon) and had an estimate for me by Monday. Still impressed. Mon 7/25: At this point I was working mostly with Stephany via email and she was very prompt and thorough in her replies to me. Just working out some details and I had couple of questions. My neighbor only had a few Ash trees but was offered the discounted rate I got from the other company that quoted treatment. I had a discounted rate because of the total diameter of my Ash trees put me at a lower rate, unless he lumped his trees in with mine he would have to pay significantly more to treat his. Stephany said she would relay the information to Jerry and get back to me. Still impressed. Tues 7/26: So now it got down to talking price and scheduling the work, now i'm mostly on the phone with Stephany rather than email. The Arborvitae were not available in the height I wanted quite yet, Stephany told me we would need to wait until the Fall when the nursery they use is "re-stocked." No problem, it seemed a little hot to be planting new trees anyway, Stephany had suggested this would be the case anyway at some point during our correspondence. I originally wasn't going to use them for the ash borer treatment because their estimate was a little higher than the other company. Jerry worked with me on the price and they got my business because of it, he said he would also honor the rate my neighbor received. We finalized the details and the price and they said they could come out the next day! Still impressed. Wed 7/27: 3 men came out and they had the order in hand with everything Stephany and I had discussed. We walked the property just to make sure everyone was on the same page. The pine tree I mentioned earlier that was "ok" when Jerry came out a week earlier was now needle-less/dead. They gave me an on the spot quote for tree removal and stump grinding that was much less than I thought it would be, I told them to take it down. Everything was settled and they got to work right away. Given the amount of work they had to do I expected a lot more noise than what I heard. I could still hear the saw and limb shredder but it wasn't obnoxious or off-putting by any means. I had a 6 month with me all day and a dog and they barely noticed. They also dismantled my lamp post out front just to make sure the glass and bulbs didn't break from falling limbs, I hadn't even thought of that but was happy they did. It took them about 5-6 hours total, they even got my neighbors trees done. They cleaned up the yard well, very little debris. Still very impressed, all the way through. This is my first home so I had knew very little about what I was asking for as far as deadwooding and raising limbs go. I completely relied on their expertise and judgement and they came through, I am very happy with how the trees look. Its hard to comment on the Emerald Ash Borer because it was more preventative, no esthetic changes, but I knew it was necessary and didn't want to wait until it was too late to treat. There is no doubt I will have future work to do, not only in this house but probably our next house. Broadripple Tree Service will be the first place I call this time. Thanks for the good work, professionalism and patience :)
Description of Work: The deadwooded 5 Ash trees, raised lower limbs on 2 Bradford pear trees, raised lower limbs on another Ash tree, removed lower limbs on a Hackberry, removed and ground stumps on 3 dead pine trees, treated 11 Ash trees for the Emerald Ash Borer with Tree-age. Jerry also diagnosed the reason the pine trees had died, a fungus called Rhizosphaera needle cast. I still have 3 healthy pines as of now that I am going to have them treat next spring (window to treat is over this year).
