The original service call took place on February 14. Today, on March 18, the problem was finally resolved with a refund of my initial $49.95 service call fee. The owner's son, who hand-delivered the check, apologized for the problems that occurred.
Description of Work: They employee came out and diagnosed the problem w/ my dryer, but had to put it back together and order the parts. He said the parts would be in in a few days and they would call me. I paid $49.95 for the service call. I have never heard back from them. I have now called them 4 times and I still don't know if my parts are in, or when my dryer will be fixed. The only thing I know is that the service person who looked at my dryer is no longer there.

From the time I called until the time the new one was installed, less than 5 hours had elapsed. I have done business with them for over 15 years and have sent many friends and family members there as well. Nice to do business with a small, family owned business. They make every effort to satisfy, and always have.
Description of Work: The technicians came to my business to service a washer which I had purchased from them (used) 5 years ago for $100.00. They quickly told me that the cost of repairs would be more than the machine was worth. They hauled away my old one brought me another rebuilt one and fixed the leaky fitting that I had endured for months.

We requested a service call on Monday, for a washing machine that broke over the weekend. We were scheduled for a call Tuesday afternoon. Tuesday were were contacted and told that the technician hadn't shown up for work, and we needed to rescheduled. During this interaction, the individual on the phone was surly and acted as though rescheduling was a bother. We rescheduled for Friday, and the technician didn't show up as scheduled, and no one called us. We are going to call another service company and strike Broad Ripple Appliance off our list.
Description of Work: None. Service technician did not show up (twice) as scheduled.

The repairman came and identified a part that needed to be replaced. I had to call the refrigerator company for the part because the repair man did not know the number or have time to order the part. When the part arrived, I installed it. I then noticed two loose, hot wires in a different area behind the refrigerator. The original repairman had since left the company, so a new man came out. He hooked one wire up, but did not hook the second wire up because that caused the refrigerator to become stuck in the defrost mode. He then plugged the refrigerator in and remarked that the refrigerator was working and that he could hear the lines filling up with refrigerant. THEN I TURNED ON THE REFRIGERATOR. He left without putting the back on the refrigerator. The unit works, but there is still a loose wire.

He said that his company did not deal with the manufacturer anymore, but we could drive to the west side and pick it up ourselves. We said no thank you, please order it. He said it would be in about a week later, but we never heard from them in the interim. We called and reached a new person with no knowledge, except that the owner would be in after noon. The owner finally called us, but our service representative had quit and taken all of his records with him. No one was able to track him down or help us until a few days later. They never tracked down the employee and have never addressed our problem. I finally called another appliance company who fixed the problem in a professional and timely manner. In the end, Broad Ripple had misdiagnosed the problem completely!
Description of Work: I called them on 10/23/07 because our power went out and our dishwasher went out. The serviceman did not come in an appliance truck, but his own vehicle and his "toolkit" was a cooler. He diagnosed it as the computer board.

One dehumidifier needed a new compressor which was too expensive to replace and so it wasn't repaired. The other was recharged with refrigerant. The one that was fixed was taken home and it still didn't work. It was returned and repaired again. Once home after it's 2nd servicing, it still hasn't worked.
Description of Work: (2) Dehumidifiers were not working and needed to be diagnosed.

This was a real disappointment. The repairman missed both times scheduled for the repair and didn't call me to tell me he wasn't coming, which means I unnecessarily lost several hours of work time and time needed for other obligations. A week after my oven stopped working, I still don't have a repair. Both times, when I called to find out where the repair person was, the person answering the phone didn't apologize and didn't act like it was a problem.
Description of Work: Oven needed to be repaired on gas stove.

Due to a family emergency I wasn't able to call them until Wednesday the 12th. I gave the girl my name and she said that there was no "ticket" for me. She asked who I made the appt. with and I told her it was a gentleman and that was all i knew. She made no apology for their lack of response or lack of respect for my time. She rudely said "well we can schedule you again" I responded no thank you and she hung up. I am very disappointed with the customer service.
Description of Work: I called on Thursday Sept 6th for repair to my ice maker. The gentleman put me on the schedule for Friday the 7th and they would call between 3 and 5 to tell me they were on the way. I never received a call.

Very disappointed. The machine was delivered promptly, but two of the three wash cycles do not work on the machine. However, the most important problem is that the machine had a flyer from the Frigidaire website taped on the front that described certain features. When we got the machine, we discovered that it was NOT the machine in the website page taped to the front. It was a significantly downgraded machine with far fewer features. For example the one we got does not have a fabric softener dispenser, even though the features page taped to the machine said it did. When I told Bill, the owner about this, he said that the page wasn't really meant to represent the actual machine it was taped to! All I can say is BUYER BEWARE when dealing with Broad Ripple Appliance. I told him I simply wanted the machine that was represented in the flyer. But Bill has decided I was too much trouble. They are picking up the machine and returning my money. I was not given a choice.
Description of Work: Purchased a stacked Frigidaire washer/dryer and paid for delivery and installation to Brown County where we now live. The result of the transaction is that I was charged too much, and received a machine that was mis-advertised and more money than I should have paid. And besides all that, the machine I got didn't work properly.

THE CUSTOMER IS CORRECT WHEN SHE SAYS THE WASHER/DRYER UNIT HAD THE WRONG TAG ON IT. HOWEVER, SHE WAS CHARGED THE CORRECT PRICE FOR THE MODEL WE SOLD HER— AND SHE PAID IT. LATER, SHE TOLD US THE UNIT DID NOT WORK AND REQUESTED A DIFFERENT MODEL, WHICH WE DID NOT HAVE. WE OFFERED TO RETURN THE CUSTOMER’S MONEY AND PICK UP THE UNIT. THE CUSTOMER AGREED TO THIS. SO WE PICKED UP THE MACHINE AND RETURNED HER MONEY. LATER, THE MACHINE WAS TESTED IN OUR SHOP. IT RAN EXCELLENTLY. WE SOLD THE MACHINE TO ANOTHER CUSTOMER WHO HAS REPORTED NO PROBLEMS WITH IT.

Repair was scheduled between 2 & 4 pm. I rearranged my schedule to be home during this time. Got a call at around 4:30 from the tech, who asked for directions to my home, explaining that his company had given him bad information. He said they had "run him all around Indianapolis" and had sent him to Fishers (I live in Speedway). I started to give him directions, but when I told him to exit southbound I465 at the Speedway exit, he interrupted to demand the interchange number, which I don't know. He made it clear that he was very unhappy that I couldn't provide that information. Since I had to leave the house by 5:30 to complete an errand, I asked when he could arrive; his response was to tell me he was almost out of gas and to ignore my question. At that point, I felt the likelihood of his being able to complete the repair before 5:30 was very low, and given his attitude over the telephone, I decided I didn't really want to have him in my home. I told him to cancel the service call.
Description of Work: I called for repair of my refrigerator icemaker.

When I called & asked for repair, the young lady said they would have someone to come out between 9-11:00 a.m. on Saturday. When it got to be about 11:30 a.m., no one had come nor had anyone called regarding what had happened. When I called Broad Ripple Appliance, the young lady said the repair person was late coming in; I asked her why she or someone had not called me to let me know they were running behind. She did not have an answer regarding such. However, when I spoke with the repair person, he indicated that he had had several repairs that morning and was the only person working on the Saturday jobs.
Description of Work: My dishwasher didn't seem to be drawing water when I turned it on, even w/advancing the control dial; however, when the repair person came, there didn't seem to be a problem. I'm not sure why, but it is working.

At that point I told them that I was going to move on to another company.
Description of Work: I contacted them and the woman who answered the phone didn't seem very knowledgeable. When I asked about the Angie's List discount she said she had to ask and put me on hold for ten minutes! Then a man answered the phone and I had to explain situation to him. He didn't know about the Angie's List discount either and put me on hold for a long time as well! Finally he came back on the line asking if I was still there and informed me that he would have to put me on hold for a third time.

The door of our oven did not lock anymore, which prevented us from starting the self-cleaning cycle. An appointment was scheduled within a week of contacting the company. The problem was fixed in about an hour. The repairman was polite and didn't mind that I was looking over his shoulder while he completed the work.

The items they sold were scratch and dent items. The only thing they didn't include was instructions on how to install them (which we did ourselves) which turned out to be a little frustrating. In the future we'd have them install it.

I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD BE THE FIRST APPOINTMENT OF THE DAY. I CALLED AT 10:15 WHEN I HADN'T HEARD FROM ANYONE YET AND WAS TOLD BY THE RECEPTIONIST THAT THEY HAD A DELIVERY TO MAKE BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT AND SHE WASN'T SURE WHEN THEY WOULD GET TO MY HOUSE. I WAITED ANOTHER HOUR AND A HALF AND STILL HADN'T HEARD ANYTHING. I ENDED UP CALLING THE OFFICE AND RESCHEDULING FOR ANOTHER DAY. WHEN THE REPAIRMAN FINALLY DID MAKE IT TO MY HOUSE HE WAS ABLE TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR THE PROBLEM QUICKLY.

Parts were ordered & received in one week. The first appointment for installation was canceled by Broad Ripple Appliance (BRA) & rescheduled for the following week. The repairman was 3:30 late for second appointment (appointment was 14:00-16:00, repairman arrived at 19:30). Repairman did not have correct glass & repair was not completed but repairman was competent and explained that he would call next day with update. A third trip was scheduled for later that week. Two new repairmen arrived on time and after several phone calls appeared to complete work. The younger repairmen asked for payment and told me the oven could be used but the work was NOT completed. After calling BRA and the repairmen, it was determined that the glass was again ordered incorrectly and the repairmen should have told me before leaving. BRA's owner worked to get the correct glass and the original repairman scheduled for later that week. On the final trip the repairman was 2:55 late but the glass was installed.
Description of Work: Replaced the inside glass of my oven.

Description of Work: Two men came to repair my washing machine. They had a very difficult time removing the back of the machine and broke multiple small pieces. They were unable to figure out what was wrong. They were then unable to put the machine back together correctly and left it more broken than it was.

They promised to arrive between 8-10:00, but arrived about 10 minutes late. The technician was very polite and professional. He quickly diagnosed the problem, disassembled the dryer, and lubricated it. The work took about 45 minutes. The trip charge was $60, and the additional labor charge was $50. So far (a few weeks) the dryer is working fine.
Description of Work: Our dryer (of 2 years) was making a terrible squeaking noise. He disassembled and lubricated it.
