+ -1 moreOverall it went well. Turned out to be a $48 thermostat/fuse type thing. I was charged $158, which meant $110 for labor. All in all he was at the house for about 15 minutes. $400 + an hour is pretty hefty in my estimation. They do not have a trip charge per se, but it all works out about the same.
Description of Work: My gas dryer went out. When I called Broad Ripple Appliance they were very responsive and came out quickly, looked over the job, gave me an estimate, and performed the service.

He diagnosed the problem as a likely compressor issue and offered to inspect. Also mentioned that compressor issues are costly to repair and my best option might be to get a new unit completely. I heeded his advice and canceled the visit. I was very appreciative of his advice over the phone, which didn't cost a dime.

Because I will need to buy a washer and dryer soon, I asked his opinion on some products I was reviewing. His input was invaluable.

+ -1 moreBroad Ripple Appliance did not have an appointment for a few days, but their technician called ahead and was able to diagnose the problem over the phone. He ordered the necessary part (the drain pump) and fixed the washer in one visit. He was very professional (and friendly to my guard-dog/puppy who tends to freak-out when repairman are there). I will definitely use them again.

+ -1 moreThey did a great job. They estimated they would be all day at it but they got the entire job done by noon. They also gave me a $100 discount when I mentioned I was an angies list customer. They hit their quote dead on and initially quoted me enough variations that I had a good range of options to pick from. They also made sure to wear boot covers when they came into the house so as not to track on the carpet.
Description of Work: Existing Central Air was leaking and needed to be replaced. They installed a new unit.

+ -1 moreVery quick to schedule. Arrived within scheduled time frame and called ahead as promised. Worked quickly and effeciently to determine the problem. Actually finished the job within 30 minutes. I will use them again. I have only one minor concern. I had to sweep the area around the dryer for large pieces of lint that didn't make it into the trash can and repairman could have cleaned out the inside of the lint screen area that I can't reach when the dryer is put back together. Dryer is running fine and no longer making any noise!!!
Description of Work: Repaired clothes dryer. Removed excess lint that had built up over many yrs and was affecting the function of the dryer.

+ -1 moreWeek before Thanksgiving. Showed up on time to repair double oven. Determined thermo fuse was blown, would need to order part. Called back that afternoon, part no longer available, may need to purchase new oven. I started looking for part on internet. Two business days later, they called back indicated they found part, one hour later showed up to perform repairs. During repair determined another fuse had blown, this one they had and replaced. Overall cost to repair was less than what I found on internet and fuse was back-ordered 2-4 weeks. Other sites indicated part discontinued. They saved Thanksgiving.

+ -1 moreMan arrived as promised looked at washer needing repair. Washer and drying are in small room with bi fold doors. Man did not know how to remove them and tried to pull them off. I had to show him how before he broke them. Man proceeded to take washer completely apart for repair. He did so getting grease on the carpet and had to borrow tools of ours because he forgot to bring his. Notice after he had left that he also had been in a bathroom closet as I find an item left out that we did not get out. Even though repair was made and the washer is still working. I am not sure I would use company again. If I did I definitely would not allow the same repair man to return.
Description of Work: Washer was smoking and making loud noises.

+ -1 moreI ended up telling them I was going to switch to another company. Since I was going out of town, I was uncomfortable that they would not complete the job and no longer trusted them being in my home. their comment was simply "okay."
Description of Work: Our dishwasher stopped functioning. On Tuesday, they came out and told me that the motherboard was out. They were going to call me back that afternoon with pricing and let me know when they would come back out. They assured me that it would be Thursday at the very latest that they would be back to repair it, because they were not "THAT" type of company. I explained how I needed the dishwasher fixed this week because I was leaving to go out of town and a sitter would be staying at our home. I never heard from them on Tuesday. By Wednesday afternoon, I called to find out when they were coming. They informed me that Frank would call Thursday morning and he was probably picking the part up at a parts store. Frank called and left a message that the part would be in Friday. I made an appointment for installation for Friday and expressed my concern that the order was not placed on Tuesday as promised. Then, they called back to inform me the part would not arrive until the following week, when we were out of town. Apparently, they never ordered the part until Thursday and did not express ship it when they made the error. I opted to do business with another appliance repair place. I will NEVER use Broad Ripple appliance again.

Description of Work: I called on a Sat regarding an electric dryer that suddenly stopped working Fri afternoon (after no response from another repair service on Fri) and asked the repairman to come out Mon AM. As scheduled, he showed up (after calling when on his way). He quickly diagnosed the problem, made the repair with parts on his truck, was very neat and courteous. My only concern was that the "Service Charge" of $49 covered only getting to my house and did not include the first half hour or so of work, as has been the case with types of service (plumbers, electricians, etc.) we have used. We were charged $59 "Labor " for a half hour of work.

The delivery crew was friendly and were able to make an over-sized refrigerator fit through undersized door frames. They did this with efficiency and without damaging anything. They cleaned up their workspace and made sure that I was satisfied with the work they had done.
