I had an error code appear on my washer. They came to evaluate the situation. Turns out the repair (motor) would have been several hundred dollars. I elected not to repair but to replace my washer. They were very honest with costs and very considerate even though they didn't get my repair business. I would definitely call them again just for their honesty.

It was great. He diagnosed that it was a problem with the timer, but he had to order the part. Since it was an intermittent problem, he said to call once the problem happened again, and he would be ready with the part. This saved me the cost of a second service call which I really appreciated. I called them a couple of days later after they came out and left a message that the washer was not working now. They came out and looked at it. They noticed that they had gotten the wrong timer and they didn't know when they would be back out to fix it. He said it could be anytime between today (Thurdsay) and Monday. I called them and told them that I'm leaving town on Friday and I already have a load in the washer with soap and everything that I need to get done. I asked Bill that since I had already paid and the service wasn't done correctly the first time, could I be moved up on the priority list. He said no. He told me he would try to be out first thing tomorrow morning but I told him that would be difficult because we're leaving at noon. He didn't apologize or anything. It was pretty much a "take it or leave it" situation for me. I think that the guy who was out here the first time should have checked to see if washer was working before he left.
Description of Work: He inspected my washer.

Would not go back to the Broadripple store for any reason.
Description of Work: I was looking for an appliance store that sold both new and scratch/dent washing machines. This store handles only a few (very used) commercial type appliances that seemed geared towards restaurant operations. No household appliances and no washing machines. Very small. Geared toward limited business type clientele unless you have a large family (i.e. they had some huge grills and gas stoves). A waste of my time. Angie's List should identify this as carrying only used equipment for commercial type businesses concentrating in restaurant operations. I would like to HIGHLY RECOMMEND CLARK'S APPLIANCE STORE in Greenwood from where I did purchase my washing machine (with a tiny, almost invisib le dent). The salesman gave excellent service and took the time to show my friend and I how a front load washing machine actually works as well as the new centrifigal type that is a top loader but no central post. I bought one with the center post but was very impressed by the time and excellent advisory service he provided my friend and I. They have a lot of other home appliances there and I will go back because of the great service. I understand they also have a "showplace" on Allisonville and 82d street which I will visit when/if I need another appliance. Gloria O'Shell, gkoshell@sbcglobal.net 4/15/2011 - 317-926-5168

I don’t remember how much I spent. He did a good job. The service was quick. They were on time. They cleaned everything pretty well. They were in and out and did a good job. They just did a good job of explaining what they were going to do. I didn’t have any problems getting appointments. They came out when I wanted them to. I would use their services again in the future.

Tech arrived and entered my home with just a clip board and pen...no tools..looked at the icemaker and said it needed to be replaced. He would have to go back to the office to get a price and that he did not have any of the parts in stock....Long story short the estimate was for $310.00 to replace the unit...But still owed $50.00 dollars for the service call. The tech was at my home for no more than 20 minutes and I had given the model numbers to the lady at there office when I called and set up appointment....I will not use this company again or recommend them to anyone else. I called another company and the unit just needed a water valve and the cost was $130.00 total to fix.
Description of Work: The icemaker was not producing any ice.....Had to go back to his office to get pricing and estimate.

With such poor performance and zero accountability, I do not understand how this company got so many "A" ratings, unless there have been recent changes in management and/or service people. Do not trust what the customer service people tell you over the phone about appointment times or anything else!
Description of Work: Broad Ripple Appliance first came out in late February after we called them because our dryer would not start. We thought the start button was not working. The repairman did not thoroughly inspect the dryer and simply ordered a replacement start button. We made an appointment for the following week, but I was then told it was for the week after that -- two weeks from his initial visit. When he returned to install the new start button I told him we'd been able to get the dryer to work intermittently by jiggling the timer dial while depressing the start button. From this, he concluded the issue was not the start button but rather the timer. It is now March 28 and we received the repair only after hearing different excuses and getting very firm with the company. When I called after not hearing from the company for a week and a half, I was told the timer had to be ordered from the factory and would take 2-3 weeks to arrive. There had been no indication that this length of time would be required, or we would have made other arrangements. After two and a half weeks passed, I called again and was promised a return call with an estimated service date. I never received that call. We were told on Saturday March 26 that the part was in and the repairman would be out on March 28 between 11:00 and 1:00. When no one showed up or called, I called the company at 1:30. I was first told the appointment was for April 4, not March 28. I protested this and insisted that the appointment was for the 28th. I insisted on staying on the line until I got a straight answer. I asked directly whether they had the part. I then was told the wrong part was sent from the factory. I asked to speak with the person in charge and received an apology and a commitment to get the part from a distributor that day and install it. To compensate for the snafu, I was charged only the company's cost for the part. The repairman did come later in the day and installed the timer. He did not return the dryer to its location, did not clean up after himself, and scratched the panel of the dryer that houses the dials and buttons.

The initial visit seemed thorough enough and was quickly followed up with an ordered part (electrical board) and a second visit. The initial technician returned the second time with another technician and they proceeded to put in the board. Only to determine that it was actually the other board that was bad (or so they thought). When they left the new technician proceeded to grab a glass from my counter top and get himself a glass of water without asking. I've no problem accommodating workers in my home (and have on many occasions) with water etc., but, a simple request seems appropriate at least in cases with a homeowner present. So, after another week of waiting on the second part, they finally call for a return engagement. Take the range apart again and then determine that it must be the initial board after all. Stating they must have just gotten a bad one when they ordered it initially. So, upon leaving for the third time without fixing the range the initial technician was at least apologetic and mentioned that he would have the owner of B.R.A. call me. The other technician? Well, this time he decided he didn't need a glass (or none were available) and proceeded to stick his head under my kitchen sink and get a drink of water. Unbelievable under almost any scenario, but especially so given the fact that we've been without an oven for over three weeks waiting for them to repair the appliance. After four days of waiting for this promised call from the owner, I called and still didn't get in touch with him. Was told that he'd been informed of the situation and was supposed to call me. Bottom line, don't use them. And if you do, hide your drinking glasses and stand in front of your sink when they leave.
Description of Work: Consider yourself warned if you proceed on and use Broad Ripple Appliance. Based on location and reports on this list I decided to call B.R.A. to work on a KitchenAid gas range that suddenly had the oven stop working. But, after 3 visits ($44.95 for initial trip charge), 2 parts and some customer service antics that are unbelievable I highly suggest you look elsewhere.

Very well. They were prompt. My refrigerator was making a huge racket. They came out to diagnose it and when they left it was making an even worse noise. I called the office and she had them back out within minutes. They rebraced the fan so I could live with the noise until they could get a compressor. Then 2 days later after they ordered the compressor they came back out and voila! They also had to wait for the freon to settle or something so while they waited they fiddled with the freezer fan or motor and got it quieted down, too, for no additional charge. My refrigerator is 12 years old and its running perfectly again.
Description of Work: Broad Ripple Appliance came to my home and diagnosed my refrigerator for $49.95. They gave me a very reasonable estimate to replace the compressor and brace the fan that was loose. I was sure the compressor was bad. They fixed evrything for a little less than originally quoted and it is running quite smoothly. The cost for the repair was $320. About half what was quoted to me by another company over the phone.

I expected to have a big labor bill, but they only charged me half of the fee for a service call!! I ended up just buying a separate counter top microwave. Someday I will replace the whole built in unit and I will surely call Broad Ripple Appliance Repair to do the work.
Description of Work: Broad Ripple Appliance Repair tried to repair my built in microwave. Two technicians came to my house and tried to fix it with new fuses. When that did not work, one of the techs and another tech came to my house the next day and tried to replace another part. When that did not work, they took my oven/mw to the shop and determined that it could not be repaired. They returned the next day and replaced the unit so that I could use my oven, but not the microwave. I checked into buying a new one.

Our dishwasher began leaking around the door onto the kitchen floor. Called Broad Ripple Appliance and scheduled a service call 2 days out. The tech (Dennis) arrived at the agreed-to time. He determined that the door gasket was old and brittle and suggested that we purchase one and install it on our own. After we did that, there was still a leak (considerably smaller, though). Called Broad Ripple Appliance again and scheduled a visit for the next day. Dennis again showed up at the scheduled time. His further investigation found a vent on the dishwasher clogged with caked-up soap. Cleaning out the vent stopped the leak. The first visit was warrantied for 30 days, so there was no charge for the second visit. Dennis was very personable and professional. We're pleased with the work and would recommend Broad Ripple Appliance for large appliance service work.

The serviceman took the inside apart and said nothing was wrong. Suggested I get Glass Magic and add when washing dishes as the problem was the hard water. I was charged 49.95 for a service call and 45.00 for time there (approximately 20 minutes). I thought this was a little high. But the Glass Magic did work.

We called them to fix a gas Neptune Maytag dryer. We specifically described the unit as being a 2 part unit, the top being a hang dry/sweater dryer and the bottom a regular tumble dryer. When the technician arrived he, admitted he had never seen anything like it and did not know how to service it. He left to return to the office to describe the unit to another technician. They called back and told us that they did not know how to repair this type of dryer. During this same phone call, we discussed the fact that we described the unit since it was different and the person on the phone with us admitted they were the one who took that previous call. They said they believed we were describing a common over/under washer dryer. This situation caused us to wait three (3) days for someone to come out who did not know how to fix the appliance. They did not listen to the original call or they would have known what we wanted worked on. We called another local service agent who responded in less than 24 hours and fixed the dryer in less than one hour. This company was Mr Appliance.
Description of Work: The service technician we waited three days for to repair a dryer said he'd never seen anything like it before (a 3 year old Maytag Neptune Dryer station). He left to pick up another technician and instead, we received a phone call saying they could not fix the unit.

Repair was completed in three visits over two weeks. First visit was diagnosis which resulted in replacement board being ordered. Second visit was replacement of board but that was not the failure, another board was ordered and replaced several business days later. This repaired the unit. The repairman always appeared during the window of time promised and was efficient, friendly and professional. The only nit is we were told we would get a call back on Friday when the second board would be available, but we had to make the call the following Monday to get a follow up repair time.

Broad Ripple Appliance office personnel were helpful, professional and scheduled a time that was convenient for me. It took two trips to get the job done - the fan that my refrigerator uses is apparently a little unusual (which also apparently makes it very expensive) and the first service tech did not have a fan that would work with him. Actually the part needed to be ordered. Prior to leaving, the tech did let me know to place a fan behind my frige as a temporary fix until they could get back w/ the part ? very helpful as the temps in the frige and freezer were way above where they needed to be and that temporary fix worked like a charm. As I mentioned the part was expensive (no fault of Broad Ripple Appliance) and they got back out in a very reasonable amount of time to fix the refrigerator. A different tech came out and there was some initial concern that that the fan he was provided would not work (prompting a little profanity from behind the frige ? nothing too different than when I do household jobs), but he did get it installed and it has been working fine ever since. Overall a good experience and I would not hesitate to use Broad Ripple Appliance again.
