May 2020--The work went very well and was completed in a timely manner. The work crew was willing to stay into the evening to complete the chimney rebuild in one day. The new brick blends in nicely with the remaining brick. Two days later, the parge job was done. On both jobs, care was taken to protect property while work was in progress. This company was easy to work with, and the workers took pride in doing their work well.
Description of Work: The upper portion (from roofline and above) of the chimney needed to be rebuilt, and a parge job needed to be done.

I learned it was a good thing I had not been using my fireplace without getting it inspected. There was a good deal of creosote. The floor of my fireplace will need replacing in another year and it's good to be able to plan for that. The cap on my chimney needs replacing, which they will do in coming weeks. The cost of service I am listing includes that.

Absolutely one of the best Contractors I've ever used. Myles Sylvester was sent to do work, I deal with a lot of Contractors and I would definitely say Chimney and Masonary Outfitters are truly blessed to have a Employee with his caliber and knowledge, attention to detail, safety when working with Silica, worked until it was a perfect job! I would highly recommend them for any work and they'll be my #1 go to for any work in the future.

Sales tech (Paul) was excellent. He properly identified the source of rain entering thru chimney cap and into the house. Recommended several repair options with reasonable pricing within 15 minutes. Repair tech (Sheldon) very professional, competent, did excellent work, and cleaned up work area to my satisfaction when done. Provided picture of cap repair before leaving and got my approval that work was completed properly. Basically provided high quality work at a reasonable price.

have yet to sign the contract. The estimate was done by Scott. He was on time, professional and efficient. Scott answered all questions completely to our satisfaction. We are in sticker shock. When we get over the realization of how much money it takes to complete the work, we will be more ready to sign the contract.

No real assessment of chimney condition during initial quote. Photographs provided afterward indicate existing cracks in masonry. Don't know that I would have made any repairs but it would have been good to know as part of the initial quote and avoid potential future call-out fees. The chimney cap part was ~$75 based on comparable products available through local hardware stores. For such an easy job, feels like I should have spent the money on a bigger ladder instead.

2-25-20 We had a cut out under our fireplace in our basement that leaked on all 3 outer walls when it rained. I found Chimney & Masonry Outfitters online and gave them a call. They came out to look and took pictures of all these holes in my mortar and said that could be the problem with the leaking in the basement. They said a new chimney cap was $600. and to tuckpoint and seal the chimney would be an additional $2,000. They had us sign off on pictures of our chimney that had circles around a lot of the holes they had found and it said within the scope of the pictures (I guess their scope of the pictures were the circled holes in the pictures and our scope of the pictures were the holes in the chimney) we thought that was kind of strange but we signed off on it. The same night they were done working it rained. The next morning it was just as wet under the chimney as if they hadn't done anything. I called them, their first question was was I complaining it didn't work or that they did it wrong. At first I said it didn't work but then I went outside and looked at the chimney and there were still holes all over it in the mortar. I called them back and told them they didn't finish the job that there were still holes all in the mortar and I sent them pictures. They said that I really didn't expect them to fill in all the holes did I? I said yes for $2,000. I did expect them to fill in all the holes. If water in my basement was the problem what good would it do to just fill in some of the holes. Then they wanted to talk to me about another chimney solution that would cost around $15,000. - $18,000. I told them why in the world would I pay them any more money when I already paid them a lot of money and they didn't finish the job. I asked them if they would come out and take a look at my chimney and they said no they could tell by their pictures that they did what they said they were going to do and they were done. We sold the house the home inspector said something needed to be done with the flashing. I had to hire someone else to finish the job I had already paid them to do. The guy I hired caulked the flashing, he said they did not do the tuck pointing correctly that they put the new mortar on over the old mortar (they are suppose to take out the old mortar) he showed me where the new mortar that they put on was already coming off because they had put it on over the old. He said they did not seal the chimney that there was no sealant on the mortar. After studying my chimney and seeing the moss on it there is no way that any sealant would have been effective if they had put any on because they didn't clean off the moss. The new guy I hired had to finish tuck pointing the chimney and he sealed the chimney. He did some ground work around the chimney and he charged us a fraction of the cost of what we paid the Chimney & Masonry Outfitters. A week later it poured down rain and the next day the cut out in the basement was dry as a bone. Hiring someone that knows what they are doing makes all the difference in the world. I would not recommend hiring Chimney and Masonry Outfitters it was a total waste of money.

I had an outstanding experience with the young men who performed the work at my home. The arrived on time, did the work as expected and communicated well when things did not go as expected. They communicated the solution and it was delivered on time as they stated. The cleaned up after the work was performed and even went above and beyond to complete the work which exceeded my expectations. I would not hesitate to hire the firm again for future work.

The crew arrived on time and completed the work about 3 hours faster than estimated. Although the job (relining the chimney and parging / replacing broken bricks) was expensive, the workers did a great job. I found Chimney and Masonry Outfitters via Nextdoor.com and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing help with a problem fireplace.

The whole process was painless. From first contact to installation. They installed a unit in my 1910 home...which involved lining the chimney and masonry work as well as electrical that had to be run. I was so excited to see the whole crew of 5 workers standing there as I opened the door...my first thought was it's like HGTV! I highly recommend them!

Dave and Calvin were professional and thorough in their evaluation of our leakage problem. The flushed the chimney and roof with water to identify exactly where the problems were. David showed me the pictures of what was going on and explained the options for fixing the problems in clear detail. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who has a problem with their chimney or other masonry issues for sure. We will use them to fix the problems they discovered with our flashing and chimney masonry.
