Booher Remodeling Company

The company seemed very professional and they have such a good rating from Angie's List that I felt very comfortable and didn't ask enough questions nor did I do enough research. 1st question should have been: do you use subcontractors? Price wise the quote was in the middle of the 4 that I received but they understood that I wanted to keep the wood on the deck for environmental reasons -- it was still good and there was no reason to scrap it. the railings needed to be completely rebuilt. The deck had been painted by the previous owners, I was told a power wash was all that would be needed to remove the paint and prepare the wood before new stain was applied, I asked about sanding but I was assured the power wash would do the job. After the first quote, I asked for another with metal balusters (instead of wood) , I even sent a copy of a picture from their website to show the look that I wanted which included a narrow top rail and tops on the posts. The quote was faxed back quickly and I agreed with the price. Work was scheduled several weeks out, which was reasonable for the time of the project. The day they showed up, the supervisor told me they didn't do the top rails like on the picture and it would have a flat top rail. Not what I was expecting, but I did want the project completed before a family get together, so I agreed. Demolition of the old rails and a bench went well. The power wash was on schedule and did remove most of the paint. From here, the project went down hill. The workmen went to a local home improvement store to purchase to wood for the rails. Evidently, they are used to having stock delivered. They came back with the worst looking wood I've ever seen -- railing posts with big cracks already in them, at least two had large knot holes where large portions of wood were missing, which I rejected and had them removed. I went to the home improvement store to see if all the stock was that bad, but found that most people there were inspecting and choosing the pieces they bought. I believe the workers went in and grabbed the pile that had been rejected by everyone else because it was in the aisle and easy to pick up. When I told this to the supervisor, he agreed the wood was bad, but didn't make it better or offer a discount. The supervisor was working another job and only came by at the end of the day or if I called. New posts were put in, but the top rail was not straight, it bowed out towards the yard and they had to redo it several times. The balusters are more or less evenly spaced -- but the connectors for the slant on the steps are not the same angle as the steps so the balusters don't fit into the connectors. The deck boards, which were power washed, now have deep ruts in the grain where the softer material was power washed out -- sanding really should have been done. There are places where the paint was not removed, but flapped into the cracks, and that was left and sealed into position with the stain. The few nails that were sticking up are still there, no one hit them with a hammer to reset them. The finished project is adequate, but does not look professional. I will not be using Booher for any other project and I can't recommend them. Their website looks so nice, the people were all very nice and pleasant, but the quality is just not there.

Booher Building worked with us on a deck design and build. We went through several iterations of the plan, and they were very responsive and flexible in that process, providing a lot of ideas and options to us. Once we settled on the design, we were given a start date 3 weeks in the future. Materials were dropped off the day prior and they started right on time! Workers were very competent, polite, friendly, and hard working. We had a few adjustments as we went (the grade of the yard was underestimated and we had to add a step, and city inspections required some further adjustments), and those went smoothly. My only criticism is that communication could have been a bit improved - the workers weren't able to make decisions or comment on things much, and everything had to go back and forth to the office - having a supervisor show up more frequently or check in with us would have been appreciated and desirable! But we are thrilled with our end product and will use this company for future projects. Thanks!

After having them do our bathroom tearout and remodel with great results, we were pleased in the beginning to work with them again. We were given a Friday start date that came and went, with no call. When I called the next Monday, I was told it was changed to the next Friday and they were sorry for not contacting us. Things happen so the next Friday I waited and no one came or called again. When I called again that Monday and let them know if our job was to small we would just get another crew, they said it would be that Friday for sure. Meanwhile we have a night worker who rented a hotel both Fridays when he could have stayed here with just a call. They did show up the third Friday to do soffit work. They had to come back twice more to do it right . When the gutter crew came we were informed we had been outsourced to a company that then outsourced us to another company. No one used a magnet roller after the job and we're still picking up nails and metal curls and straps as long as 6 inches. Lastly we were told someone would come out for a walkthrough inspection last week and no one came. When my husband called yesterday he was told they had come and everything looked great. It was a nerveracking experience for such a small job. While I will say again, I was happy with everything from start to finish with the bathroom, if I had had the gutters done first I would never have used them again. We also got an estimate for the siding and kitchen, but don't want another experience like the last one, so we will be looking on Angies list again.

Good ! There area some problems that arose with the tile, but these were addressed to our satisfaction. The company was very responsive to our concerns that arose during the consultation.

I am a happy camper! From the time they started, it only took 4 days to finish. That includes tearing out everything and remodling. They were very professional and organized. The happily came back to fix some minor things. All the crews came in in a syncronized fashion, cleaned up after themselves, and did an outstanding job. I could not be more pleased with the job.

Everything went great! John, the foreman, was the best! He was willing to work with what we wanted and also gave us a ton of advice for staining, lighting and overall care for the deck. We are going to do some bathroom remodeling in the fall and they even gave us advice on those projects. I would recommend you at least have Rob come out and give you an estimate. Kathy is great as well. She set everything up with Rob and overall everything went perfectly!

Not a lot to tell when you work with Rob. He showed up on the day we had planned, did the work in the time he predicted, and his team cleaned up after themselves daily. He also provides a one year work guarantee, which we used as the paint has bled through the new doors a little and needed some touch up work.

They were very professional and the cost was very reasonable. They did an excellent job. They arrived on time and did exactly what they would do. It was a good experience all the way around.

The Booher employees were on time and worked hard the entire time. They did great work and were good about cleaning up.

Booher did an excellent job, which they were able to schedule quickly and finish in three days. It would have been completed in two days but the weather has been extreme this spring. John double-checked on the placement and height of the deck before they began and all employees I met were extremely courteous. I will definitely hire Booher again for any future remodeling needs. They are extremely professional, fairly priced and built a beautiful deck for us to enjoy. Thank you!

If you are considering adding a deck, have these folks do it. You will be more than satisfied with the price, the quality and the guarantee. Rob Booher, personally, visited to provide measurements and an instant estimate (my 4 other estimates took up to a week to reply). John (Rob's foreman) visited with the construction crew to get them started. After that, it was all Jim and Kyle...request these guys specifically as they are the best. If you still have any doubts...come look at my deck.

They were great with the quote process. They came right out and gave the quote but someone else did the work for a fair price. It was several different estimates Booher gave us for different materials. They were super friendly, prompt and very knowledgeable.

The end result was a great bathroom remodel that we are very satisfied with. There were a couple of issues along the way but they were resolved eventually.

They came out and gave us the estimate and they were very friendly. They corresponded with us a couple of times to let us know about their scheduling and when they would get to us. They came out last week and started the work and they have been very impeccable in their work and they have done a good job. The only thing is that they sometimes used a nail gun for the deck boards and it would have been better if they were screwed in. I will have to go and double check that. They are very nice and friendly. They had forgotten one little part but they went out and bought the part and made the correction without charging us anything extra. I think that they would be finishing the work in a day or two. I would definitely use them again and definitely recommend them.

The overall work went on fine. Built what I specified and designed it and they billed exactly what they had designed. They also used the material that they said they would be using. I would rate them high overall. I would use them again in the future.

I felt that they were very professional. They had a nice work truck and really nice brochures and everything readily available. The only thing that I disliked was the contractor that I ended up going with was literally exactly half the cost. It took them probably about a week once I called them before they could come out.

I called Booher to get an estimate to remodel my kitchen. When I called for an estimate, they were able to schedule a time for Rob to come out within a few days. I ended up having to change the appointment, so I called back and they quickly changed my appointment to two days later. Rob showed up right on time. After I described the project to Rob, he asked a few questions and made a few suggestions. Rob was very professional and attentive, and he emailed me the estimate a few days later. The estimate was broken out to show the price for each part of the project, which I thought was very helpful. I ended up choosing a different contractor, but it was a hard decision and I'm sure Booher would have done a great job.
