Every aspect went great, from the initial scheduling to completion. They basically rebuilt the wooden exterior of chimney, new moisture wrap and substituted siding vs flat boards. Replaced bad trim on dormer with spruce. Their pricing was good. Over all very professional, prompt and responsive. Would definitely hire again.
Description of Work: Repair /reworking of leaking chimney (non masonry). Rotten wood on chimney and a dormer.

Signed a proposal to replace 2 porch roofs in Mid Oct. with work to begin in 3-4 weeks (mid Nov.) Called on Dec 10 to ask when they would show up; was told Dec. 11. No show. Then called again on Dec. 14, to come Dec. 17. Dec. 17 they called to say the would be here Dec. 19; no show but they said they would be here Dec. 26; no show again. Oh well, maybe next year! Quote was for $5300 which was reasonable.

Bone Dry seemed like the right company. I see their trucks driving around town all the time. I like their marketing and I read some reviews and looked at their grade here on Angie's List. For those reasons I reached out to Bone Dry attempting to get my roof, gutters, downspouts, gutter guards, and attic insulation replaced. I had hail and wind damage with missing shingles and a leak in my 2nd story bedroom. So I needed the work done quickly. The first salesman came out to my house and the sales pitch was convincing. I wanted to do business with Bone Dry. He didn't give me a quote but instead said to get a claim started with insurance. After I got my claim approved I scheduled him to come back and finalize the scope so I could sign and they could get started. We made an appointment for Thursday. He cancelled Thursday morning and asked to reschedule on Friday but didn't set a time. On Friday I texted him at 11:41 am asking what time he would be coming. He said 2:30 and I confirmed. Then at 12:30 he texted and said "Actually I will still be in Anderson at 2:30, since they are paying for more than just the roof I want to make sure we have enough time to go through all of it thoroughly without rushing". I replied back saying that we needed to nail down an appointment time and that I couldn't keep flip flopping my work schedule when he cancelled on me. At 3:45 on Friday he texted me a big Sales pitch and also "I will make you priority 1 on Monday". He did not contact me Monday, nor Tuesday. On Wednesday I called into the office and asked for another salesman. The next available appointment was 8 days away. I made the appointment but decided to call (left voicemail) my salesman one more time to see if he could come out earlier. Before my salesman called me back the Office Sales Coordinator called me and inquired why I had an appointment for a different salesman when I already had one. I emailed him essentially everything I'm writing here to document my concerns. He escalated me to the Sales Team Leader who came out on Friday and finally gave me the quote. After I had the quote I worked with my insurance a bit and when I was ready I called and left a voicemails on the Sales Leader's cell phone Thursday, Friday, and Monday. I never received a call back, an email, or anything. So after that on Tuesday I called another company who had great Angie's List review and grade. They came out same day, gave me a quote, negotiated with me, and came back on Wednesday to ink the $20k deal. Friday after Thanksgiving, that Office Sales Coordinator from above reached out via email asking if I wanted him to ask the Sales Leader to contact me concerning the quote. I basically responded with what I'm writing here and said no thank you. Long story short I tried very hard to give Bone Dry my money. They literally didn't want it.
Mr. [Member Name Removed], Thank you for taking your time to provide us your feedback. We do apologize for the frustrations that you felt during this process. Our Goals are to make working with Bone Dry as easy and smooth as possible and to meet and exceed your expectations. I have spoken with both of our representatives involved with your request and it appears that there were some miscommunications along the way. Both of our representatives had the impression you were going to be letting them know when you had additional insurance information and were ready to meet. We are always looking at areas for improvement and taking steps to make those changes. We are glad that you have selected a company to complete your work and we would love the opportunity to earn your business in the future.

We had a small leak in one of our bedrooms. I scheduled emergency service for that evening. I didn't receive many any updates on when the person would arrive. The worker quickly diagnosed the issue and investigated any damages. He provided me pictures for my insurance and tarped the affected area. We agreed to him preparing a quote to make the repairs for the roof and contacting their interior division for any potential repairs to the ceiling. Less than 6 days from my first call, I received a text message from a sales rep, whom I had not spoken to previously, asking for payment for the emergency service. I was under the impression this would all be handled with the actual repair work. This was before I received any quote for the repair or interior work, so that process was slow as well. I found the text message method of contact unprofessional and hurried. I called their office to request a copy of the invoice via the mail. The sales rep then texted me 2 days later. We paid the agreed to emergency service and did not proceed with the repairs with Bone Dry.

I bought a new home in March 2018. In the closing we agreed the previous homeowner was going to pay to have the roof replaced. Bone Dry was quick to get us on the schedule and take our money for the new roof. After a couple weeks they are supposed to come out and do a walk through with the owner, Grant, to insure that everything was installed correctly and there were no issues. Well when my time for my follow up was, Grant had a family emergency and had to cancel my walk through. I get things happen and I wasn't upset about that. I am upset because 2 weeks after my roof was installed, part of my fascia fell off at the tip of my house, exposing the wood. I have called a total of NINE times now to get the walk thru reschedule. Three of the times they have sent me to Grant's cell phone. When I get to his cell phone, his Voicemail is full and I can't reach anyone. I have to call the office back every time. I have been told so many times that he will call me back to schedule and I still have heard NOTHING! I'm beyond frustrated because they were quick to get the money for a full new roof, but not so quick when there is a problem or they need to check their work. I'm scared when I need to get an inspection for the warranty, so it doesn't void, that no one will actually come out and I will get told my warranty is voided. This last week when I called, I even asked if someone else could come out and do the the walk through because it has now been over 6 months, and the lady in the office said Grant is the owner and he does these. Grant is completely failing with customers. I just need my roof inspected and my fascia fixed before I have bigger wood rot problems.

A young man came out spent about an hour looking at the inside and outside of my roof leak. He diagnosed it as problems with my furnace chimney and it needed to be replaced or repaired. I opted to replace it they sent a crew out with in the a lot of time they messaged me to let me know when they would come out they were very communicative during the whole process. The crew fixed my chimney while I was at work and I came home to a lovely new chimney. They texted me pictures of the old chimney and pictures of them doing the replacement. I was very pleased with how simple they made everything and how communicative they are.

Guys came out but neither of them spoke much English. They cleaned up well and the repair looks good. We’ll see how it goes the next time it rains. I just thought the price was a bit high. I had similar repairs done on another property and it wasn’t nearly that expensive. Will try to find someone else if we need anything else done.

The roof replacement went very well. They kept in decent contact with us while we waited for good weather. The replacement spilled into a second day, which was fine - there were some unanticipated issues. The new roof looks great. The roof replacement cost around $8800 for a 2300 sq. ft., 2-story house. We went with the premium shingles. For the gutters, we were less pleased. It was difficult to get anyone to contact us about the gutters which are subcontracted out. The installers contacted me about an hour before they were set to arrive to do the installation. I had to scramble to let my boss know I would need to work from home. I was supposed to be notified a day before installation. At first, I thought the installers were there to take the measurements and do preliminary work, but it turns out that part was already done by someone else prior - without talking to us at all. This other person couldn't get into our backyard to see everything that needed done. Because of the lack of communication and the lack of access, he didn't order enough materials. He ended up having to bring the installers a couple items because of that. The installers were great though. They listened to what we needed done and they made it happen. The gutters look good and they work as expected. The gutters cost around $1200 for about 100ft of seamless gutters and nearly 100ft of downspouts. Overall, I would be comfortable recommending Bone Dry for roofing, but I wish we had gone with someone else for the gutters.

My new roof is beautiful. The work was all done in one day with a large crew. They were very careful around my landscaping. My fragile ornamental trees survived without a scratch. I received an estimate from Bone Dry about 3-4 months ago for roofing work. Last week I received a call from the estimator asking for me to pay the bill of around $2000 for the work. After the phone call, I looked through my notes and realized that I had chosen another contractor to do the work and that Bone Dry never did the work. I left him a voicemail about this and never received a call back. It seems like either this was an honest mistake and he did not check his records or he is trying to collect on a bill for work not done, which is concerning because he waited 3-4 months to contact me and I had forgotten and almost paid him $2000 before I realized what happened.

Mr. [Member Name Removed], Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us. You are absolutely correct in that it was an error in updating pending proposals in our system. A simple back office clerical error. I spoke with Jim, and he recalled speaking with you, getting your voicemail and then returning your call to confirm that it was our error and he would not attempt to come by for any payments. As you noted, your original estimate was in February 2018, in June 2018 when we had not received approval from you to do the work, we were closing out that opportunity and the incorrect option was selected. Once it was brought to our attention, we corrected our records. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to work with you on your project and we hope that you can provide us opportunities on future projects. Have a Great Day!!

Thank you for taking the time to complete the review and provide feedback. We at Bone Dry are always looking to make sure we improve our company and work to provide all customers an excellent experience. I am sorry to hear that your experience was not positive. I am a little unclear in your description of work. I show we you called in on 12/18/2017, we were out and quoted the work on 12/21/2017. Due to the necessary work, type of roof, pitch of roof and weather, we attempted to contact you to schedule a few times and when we were out in February 2018 to do the work you let us know you were canceling. I again do apologize that your experience was not positive. If we can be of service, we would love the opportunity to work with you on this project or any future projects you have to complete.

Wonderful. Extremely nice people in office, and on site. Very helpful and patient with questions I had. Workmen were busy all day, with only a short break for lunch. Impeccable clean up upon completion. Roof teardown & install in one day. Trim boards installed & painted following day, as were gutter guards. ( I used my existing gutters, & only had the guards replaced. Debris in the gutters was cleaned out by roofers.) Synthetic felt, 3' ice & water shield along eaves, new pipe boots, ridge vent, drip edge, Chimney reflash

The workers arrived on time and did a good job on removing the old skylights, installing the new ones, and cleaning up the site. The only hiccup was the workers did not seem aware of fixing the nail pop and deck pop, even though they were listed on the work order. This was probably a language issue. However after pointing it out to them, they called their office and went back up on the roof and repaired both. They took pictures of their work (before, during, after) and explained them to me. Overall, I am pleased and would hire them again. I was also able to use the 5% Angie's List coupon.

I called Bone Dry in Nov about a roof leak. They had someone come out 2 weeks later to look at the leak and gave me a quote of $1100. I felt that was kind of high but thought since they a pretty good rating on here I would try them out. The work started on the roof the last week of November. At the end of the day the roofer sent me pictures of what he found, repairs done and damage that happened during the repair. He said he would return in a few days to finish project. Fast forward to December/January I get a call from Bone Dry Roofing from the billing department asking me (very rudely and demanding) when I was going to pay my bill. I said I will pay my bill when the project is completed. He then told me he didn't know the project wasn't completed and would look into it. He calls me back the next day and apologizes for this mishap and since then the worker that started my project has been let go. For the troubles he will take 10% off the bill. He then asked if I know what needed to be finished and I said I think we are waiting on a piece of siding to be ordered. He said he will send someone out to look at the project to get it finished. Fast forward to Jan/Feb the siding comes in and someone will be out to put that up for you in the next few days. I then respond with "do you need the paint that is the color of my house to paint it?" oh yes that would be great. It is now the later part of March and I never did get another invoice of the project being completed please pay this amount. What I have gotten is a bill every mouth since Nov saying please pay this amount, last notice, final bill, 90+ days, when this small project wasn't even completed. When I got a phone call about my bill last week and was asked if I was going to pay my bill I politely asked if the project was completed because I hadn't looked to see if it had been completed nor did I receive an invoice for the work being completed like originally stated. I understand the worker had to be let go, the invoices never got updated, we had snow and rain issues, cement board siding got damaged, follow through on where the project started and completed didn't happen. The roof is fixed as of right now because I don't have an active leak and the small piece of siding has been replaced and painted. The valley area had new water/snow barrier placed and shingles on top of that. The barrier had previously been entirely covered and this time only 3/4 of it is covered. I'm not sure this is the correct way or the wrong way but it is different than it originally was. Bone Dry did tell me on the phone if I had any problems with it to let them know. For this being such a small project I worry what it would be like to have an entire roofing project from them. They did offer a 10% discount for my trouble back in Dec/Jan but I felt maybe another discount should have been offered for the trouble in March when I was finally contacted about the job being completed. I always pay my bills on time and to receive a final notice bill every month stating that I haven't paid my bill is not very welcoming and making me want to use the company again. For a small project of $1100 and it taking 5 months to complete I would give this experience a rating of C-. I did pay my bill when I was contacted and did make sure to tell her to make note I would be leaving an Angie's List rating on here. Thanks for reading and hope this helps someone decide if they want a roof repair or replacement from Bone Dry Roofing.
