Big Dog Flooring

I spoke with 3 flooring companies about laying new floor covering for my son's just purchase mobile home. We were on a tight schedule and budget and Chip the owner of Big Dog Flooring met our demands when others could not. The installers arrived on time and performed a very professional job. We are completely satisfied with the total experience.

100% loved it. Excellent service from start to finish. Chip and his sister were great to work with. They were very informative. We had some issues with the level of the floors. He went out of his way to make sure that he found the tile to match the existing tile. Shane and his apprentice came out and installed the flooring. They were professional and polite. They worked straight through. There were a lot of details that had to be adhered to. I would highly recommend them and have to my co-workers.

The installer was wonderful. Shane was just great and was very attentive.

The carpets turned out good. He was very relaxed when he did the measurements. He showed us samples and was not pushy. The job was well done.

Chip came and measured and gave me a price. He gave me the exactly what I was looking for at a great price. Only 2 things did not go as planned. I was told it would be a one day job. It took them two days to do. Also, they did not vacuum when they were done. They were very professional, however, there was one thing that I didn't think was very professional. One of the installer's girl friend or wife came over and went into my house without asking to talk to him for a few minutes. I would definitely recommend. They did a great job overall.

I had one problem. The owner of the company was the salesman. I told him about an negative experience I had with empire. He asked me what I thought about paying for half of the project up front. I found that would be fair. They charged the first half to my credit card, but then the day the carpet was installed, they charged the last half of the amount to my credit card without consulting me first to see if I was satisfied. The price was about $300 less than Empire. I ended up being very satisfied with the installation though. The installation men seemed to be very conscientious about cleanliness.

We worked with them to find carpet for our family room... we purchased and they installed it on the date we requested.. They were professional and did an excellent job.

We found them on Angie's List. It was excellent, it went very well and I was very pleased. The clean up was exceptional.

Big Door Flooring did an amazing job from start to finish! Their Sales Department did a fantastic job listening to our requests and really strived to work within our buget. The owner was on site and took time to talk with us about our purchase and the benefits of each product we were interested in. When the installers came to our house, they were extremely friendly, neat and and worked non stop! I would highly recommend Big Dog Flooring!

We spent $1100 on that service. They did a good job of going through the different samples with us. The girl that works there helped us look at different things and even let us take a couple of samples home to put down on the natural floor to get a better idea how it would look. They provided good service.

my last remarks pretty much say it all

We were extremely pleased with the people who own it and their help. We weren't as pleased with the person who installed it. We had some issues, but we worked it out with them. They made some changes and so forth. We would definitely go with Big Dog again, but we would not go with the installer they used. The job is okay. There are some little things like one of the boards doesn't go under the quarter round. They went ahead and put the quarter round down by a fourth of an inch. It was around $6500.00 for the wood floor. I also got a carpet made to go on the wood floor. Altogether we spent between $7000.00 and $8000.00 with them. I don't remember the exact amount. We were very pleased with the management, but we weren't pleased with the installer. We would definitely use them if we didn't have to have that installer.

The installers, Shane and Patrick, did a fine job, and were very pleasant and professional. Shane, the head installer, who is a subcontractor but does a great deal of work for Big Dog, takes pride in his work - they worked efficiently and carefully. Initially, we stopped at the store on Madison to look at carpet samples and took several books with us. Chip Payton, the owner, came to the house after that and measured and gave us a price on the spot. Chip also saved us from making a color choice mistake by suggesting that we move a color sample I had chosen into a room with different light exposure, and the color looked totally different! We ultimately changed the main color. We also picked a little bit lighter, softer pile, carpet for our master BR. A squeak developed in the foyer that was not there before the laminate floor was installed. I called Shane directly about it and he came back on a Saturday morning to see what he could find. The laminate is what they call a "floating" floor. Shane disagreed that it was somehow caused by the new laminate and thought it was the sound of a possibly loose nail moving up and down in wood - maybe the old subflooring. It is not a big deal and I decided it was not worth the effort to have him start tearing up our newly-painted baseboard and quarter-round in an attempt to determine what it might be.

We just bought a new house and wanted all the carpet replaced before moving in. We should have just gone to Big Dog to begin with (we used them before) but went with a company our Realtor recommended instead because of the cost, it was a big job. They gave us a good price but would not commit to having installation finished before our projected move in date despite almost two weeks notice and a week between closing and the movers. Called Big Dog and not only did they beat the others guys price they told us to drop off the key after closing and they would start immediately. We closed at noon on a Friday and the installers were literally in the house by 3 ripping up the old carpet. These guys are awesome, you won't find anybody better.

The experience with Chip and Susan was wonderful from start to finish! I explained that we would not be in the home for more than 2-3 years, so he immediately gave me options to suit us. We have dogs and kids and they provided us with cost effective options to match our needs. We were even provided with one of their boards to match colors to our home. They did about 1000 sq ft for a little less than $3000 (including removal of old carpet, moving furniture, materials and labor). We also got to meet the Big Dog (the giant St Bernard at their show room). I would highly recommend Big Dog Flooring to anyone!

Big Dog's staff was very helpful and friendly. The price was competitive and the installer did a great job.

Chip came out within a week, but I have been unable to get a bid from him. I contacted him twice about sending me one. If he didn't want the job, or didn't have the time to bid, I understand, but would have appreciated him telling me so I did not waste time waiting for him.

Installers arrived at 8:30 AM on 12-22-10, remeasured the areas to be carpeted, and got to work. They only left for 1 hour to cut the carpet. When they returned they told me they wanted to cut the carpet one way but the owner told them to do it a different way. At 5 PM they realized they would not have enough carpet. They asked for our preference on what area to leave uncarpeted and we agreed on the stairs. They finished the rest of the upstairs areas and cleaned the stairs for us before they left at 8:45 pm. I never got a call from the owner (Chip) to apologize for not ordering enough carpet or even to let me know that he had ordered the rest. I called the store on Monday 12-27-10 to make sure the carpet was ordered and was told that Chip ordered the carpet and put a "hot rush" on the order and he expected it to arrive mid-week.. I called the store again on Tuesday January 4 and was told the carpet would be arriving on Wednesday January 5. I also had some questions about the seams in one area of the hallway and wanted someone to look at them to see if the carpet was installed correctly in that area. The female who answered the phone said she would have someone call me back. I never received a call back so I called the store again on Wednesday January 5. Chip was not going to be able to come out for 2 days until I said the hallway may need to be redone and more carpet ordered. He arrived that afternoon to look at the seams. I was satisfied after he looked at the carpet that the main seam was placed in the best possible area due to the carpet coming in 12 foot rolls and he also said he would have the installers work on the other seams in the hallway area that needed more attention when they installed the carpet on the stairs. We set up the stairway carpet installation for Monday January 10. The installers arrived by 8:30 on the 10th and completed the job and fixed the seams in question to my satisfaction.

Excellent! From Chip's visit to our home to show us samples, to the installation by the "#1 team". We were concerned that weather was going to delay the delivery of the carpet, but Chip called Monday morning to advise me that it was on the truck, and they should be able to get it to me by 2 PM. They guys showed up at 1:45, and proceeded with one of the best carpet installations I've seen. They even helped hide some wiring that had been an annoyance for years. They were also dealing with two dogs that really did not like the noise, and a nervous home owner that was not sure about the color selection until it was rolled out and matched. They were professional, courteous, and very good at what they do.

Removed and replaced old worn carpet in master bedroom, living room, and 1 bedroom. Crew arrived on time and completed work as promised. 1 problem was found and repaired (Noisy pad under new carpet.) Estimate included moving furniture, hauling old carpet away, and putting furniture back in place. Final cost was as estimated.

This was an excellent experience. Our original kitchen floor wasn't done well when this house was built, and we were a bit nervous about installation of a new vinyl floor and wanted it to look really good down to the details. Suzan listened carefully to what I wanted and was so helpful when picking out samples for me to take home. Chip listened carefully to my concerns about our existing floor and addressed all of them wonderfully when he came out to measure. Shane and Patrick did a marvelous job installing the floor and fixing those existing problems. We appreciated their technical ability to do the job as well as their creative ability to solve our problems. We have a great deal of respect for good professional vinyl installers, and know how right-on-target Chip was when he said "you get one chance to get it right when installing sheet vinyl." Well, Shane and Patrick indeed got it right with their one chance. Our floor looks fabulous! Oh, and I am somewhat scared of dogs, but made a new friend with Bernie, the BIG DOG. What a sweet dog! Again, this is an excellent business. They truly are here to serve their customers. We were very impressed and are very grateful for a job extremely well-done!

Someone recommended them to me. I went in and they recommended berber carpet in my screened-in porch. They sold me a remnant of berber for less than I would have paid for indoor/outdoor carpet. They installed it and it was wonderful. The price was great and so much nicer carpet than the indoor/outdoor. They have all kinds of flooring, not just carpeting. They were very professional and had good, quality carpet and service. When I put down carpeting in the future I will definitely go here for a quote.

Great Job! The owner Chip came out the day after I called to measure and give us our quote that was $2000 less than our next best estimate. We scheduled the installation with Susan a few days later and were given an install date just 10 days later. They even let me pick the exact day so I could paint the rooms and not drip paint on our beautiful new hardwood floors! Our installer Joe is a true craftsman and a really nice guy. He did a great job with some tricky matches to our existing floors. He and his team arrived right on time. They were very professional, very polite, kept everything neat while they worked and cleaned everything up when they left (even took their trash with them!) Our job was finished right when they said it would be (even with our little beagle Libby "helping"), exactly on quote, and our new floors look fabulous! Do not hesitate to hire this company for your hardwood installation!

So far, just wonderful. We have been working with SUSAN and she has been very helpful (punctual and professional) in working with us. We look forward to continuing to work with them.

All of it went excellent. From measuring to finish, did just what they said. They started right to work removing furniture and old carpet. Then on to new pad/carpet. Impressed at how well the two worked together and flooring looks super. They were very helpful too when we went to store, we were needing specific carpet for elderly parent, they helped figure that out. We were first going to have that "same day" place do it but they did not show up for first appt.....Thank goodness! Bigdog was super and certainly will use them again. They do hardwoods,tile all flooring! Glad we found them.
