+ -1 moreThese guys came to my house and gave me a LONG sales pitch. I was expecting maybe a half hour, and two hours later they were still there. I was pressured into deciding that very night on a $3000 upgrade to my gutters. They were giving a deep discount that I wouldn't get if I waited even one day. Foolishly, I signed up for the work, but happily the law says I have three days to change my mind, and I made sure to notify them by a traceable letter that I was canceling the service. However, even though they are legally required to return my $100 deposit, they have not yet done so, claiming I must come to their office to pick it up in person. Evidently, they do not trust the mail at all. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

THIS WAS STATED BY A MANAGER AS STATED EVEN THOUGH DAMAGED BY HAIL, AND THEY WOULD EXTEND WARRANTY DIDN'T AND WON'T. CALLED BACK W/AN INSURANCE QUOTE, THEY CAME OUT AND TOOK MEASUREMENTS. STATED THEY WOULD GIVE WRITTEN QUOTE, FAX, THEY STATED WOULD NOT FAX OR PUT IN WRITING A QUOTE THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON OVER 3 MONTHS (MAY 26).

+ -1 moreReceived repeated (15) calls from them on caller ID, no message. When they got me on the phone they asked several questions and gave kind of cute canned responses to my answers. Appt. was made for estimate. Five minutes later, another representative called to confirm the estimate appt. Started asking the exact same questions again and gave the exact cute canned responses to my answers. I mentioned this and she said she couldn't read the first guys writing. Tom Keane arrived the next day. Seems like a nice guy just trying to make a living. Made an appropriate presentation and was patient with interruptions. Gave a price of $3400 with a $100 off is I made a decision right then. Told him I wanted to think about it and check Angie's List. He didn't pressure and left nicely, but left nothing in writing. The estimate he showed me was on a legal pad. Did not feel confident enough to use this company and after checking Angie's List, I'm glad I didn't.

+ -1 moreThis summer a SHO-PRO salesman wanted to replace the hail damaged gutter covers with improved covers at no charge to me since the cost would be covered by our homeowners insurance. He also told to expect prompt help in the future. I signed his $3,304 contract and gave him a small deposit. I canceled the contract within the 3 day period because the contract didn't have a contingency for non-payment by the insurance company. My deposit was to be returned within 10 day(by state law). After six weeks of repeated unreturned phone calls and unanswered letters I finally received my refund when I told the operator I was ready to contact the State Attorney General. We have not been happy with the performance of the Original Gutter Covers , the SHO-PRO warranty, the responsiveness of the personnel in the SHO-PRO office, or the service we received (or didn t receive).
Description of Work: We contracted with SHO-PRO to install Original Gutter Covers on our one-story house in July 2004 for $2,288. The salesman explained that the gutter covers would allow rain water to flow into the gutters but not the leaves. SHO-PRO guarantees the materials & installation but the official warranty doesn't guarantee that the gutters won't become clogged. The salesman assured me that if the gutters or downspouts did become clogged I could call the office and someone would come out and clean out the debris. This was never put in writing. I found the gutters and/or downspouts became clogged each spring and each fall with maple tree seeds, pine needles and other small debris. I called the office multiple times before anyone called me back. I finally got someone to come out, open the covers, and remove the debris. After that first experience I could not get anyone to call me back or provide any service. I learned how to remove the clogs with a coat hanger.

+ -1 moreExperience was horrible. The rep called a day later and said he overcharged me and needed me to sign a new contract. I checked my copy and saw that I NEVER signed anything. This was a mistake on his part because he got distracted talking about his personal problems and then lied as to the reason he needed me to do a new contract. Adjuster came out and told me NOT to give anyone money nor to sign anything. Rep just stops by and does not respect my time. He also seems to think he is smarter than most people and talks down to them. I have a graduate degree and used to work in insurance. This company seems fraudelent with their high pressure sales tactics. I will NOT do business with them for all of those reasons. STORM CHASERS!
Description of Work: First installed gutter covers in Feb 2003. Had large icicles and water running down the side of my home. Rep came out and repaired the situation and removed bird nests which sales rep claimed would never occur. Another repair guy came and said original installers did things incorrectly (no end caps, etc.) Problem seemed better, but still issue with bird nests and water on NE side of home. In May 2006, rep came out and said hail damage on gutters VOIDS the warranty. Even said he was being proactive and coming ahead of the disappointing letter I was soon to receive. He said it would take 30 mins, he was here for nearly 3 hours! Charged me over 4K to replace covers and gutters due to hail damage. Then said I would pay no deductible to insurance company. Sounds like INSURANCE FRAUD to me. He also got very upset when I said I wanted to contact my insurance company to assess damage, kept pressuring me to give him 20% down and to sign his contract. Also, had no business card or company ID!

Description of Work: WE WERE HAVING NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH THEM. WE HAD WATER RUNNING DOWN THE HOUSE. WHEN WE FINALLY GOT SOMEONE TO COME OUT, THEY TOLD US THERE WERE A NUMBER OF THINGS THAT NEEDED TO BE DONE. WHEN THEY FINALLY CAME OUT TO DO THE REPAIR, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDN'T DO THE REPAIR BECAUSE THE LOWER GUTTERS WERE SOME THAT THEY HADN'T INSTALLED, AND THEY COULDN'T TOUCH WORK THAT THEY HADN'T DONE.

THEIR IS A QUESTION WITH THE CHARGE FOR THE REPAIR, AS I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT THE GUTTER COVERS WERE COVERED UNDER THE ROOFING JOB WARRANTY, BUT WE ARE WORKING THAT OUT.

TIM CAME OUT THE NEXT DAY TO GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE AND KEPT PRESSURING ME TO BUY SAYING "WHAT CAN I DO TO GET YOU TO DO THIS TODAY" WHEN I SPECIFICALLY SAID I DIDN'T WANT TO BUY ANYTHING. HE WASTED AN HOUR OF MY TIME AND LEFT WITHOUT GIVING ME AN ESTIMATE. HE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE ANY LITERATURE FOR ME TO LOOK AT. THEY CALL ME IN THE MORNING, THEY CALL ME IN THE LATE EVENING (AFTER 8 PM) AND DON'T LEAVE A MESSAGE IF I DON'T ANSWER (BUT I CHECK WITH MY CALLER ID). MY HUSBAND EVEN CALLED THE COMPANY AND TALKED TO THE SALES MANAGER ABOUT THE PROBLEM, BUT HE (THE SALES MANAGER) DID NOT EVEN APOLOGIZE FOR THE PROBLEM. BEWARE OF COMPANIES LIKE THIS! I WOULD NEVER CONSIDER USING SUCH AN UNPROFESSIONAL AND PESKY COMPANY.

THE FINANCE COMPANY CONTRACT DOES SAY TO DELIVER IN WRITING OR SEND A TELEGRAM IF CANCELING. I AM NOW STUCK USING THEM. I FEEL LIKE THEY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF A SENIOR CITIZEN IN THEIR MANNER.

THE SALESMAN WROTE A QUOTE ON THE BACK OF A PIECE OF PAPER AND SAID BECAUSE WE WERE AN ANGIE'S LIST MEMBER HE WOULD GIVE US A DISCOUNT. I EXPLAINED HE WAS THE FIRST COMPANY THAT CAME OUT TO GIVE AN ESTIMATE AND WOULD GET OTHER ESTIMATE. HE THEN GAVE A LOWER PRICE SAYING IT WAS THE PREFERRED MEMBER PRICE.
