We had to have our 16 year old furnace and A/C unit replaced. It was one of the hottest weeks of the year and our A/C unit completely gave out. We decided to have both the A/C and furnace replaced since they were both very old and original to the house with high efficiency equipment. B&W was able to get us a quote within a day and have the entire HVAC replaced within 2 days.

I was very pleased with receiving an email that included a photo of the technician who would be coming to my home. Great touch! Having never had a heat pump, I appreciated the technician explaining what they are and how they work. I definitely recommend the company - and will have them come back in the fall to check the furnace.

Jasmine of the office staff was friendly and efficient in scheduling our appointment. Even though it was not an "emergency" the plumber arrived in less than an hour! Aaron, the plumber, was knowledgeable and efficient. He worked hard to address a corroded bathroom faucet and properly repaired it. The other work was done quickly and efficiently. Pricing, compared to others we have used in the past, was less expensive and provided good value for the money. We would definitely use B & W again in the future.

Plumber Dave was great. He was on time, personable, professional, and completed the tasks all within an hour of arrival. Additionally he helped me re duct tape the insulation back up in my unfinished basement. As expected with the reputation built on Angie's List, B&W impressed me with their service. I have HVAC Dave coming out soon to fix the face plate on my thermostat. Regardless of where you live in Indianapolis, I would highly recommend Dave Mejean and his team. These people know their stuff and take a a lot pride in satisfying their customers with the finished product.

They originally came the week before and quickly did the repair. They did not have a brass handle on the truck so the plumber used the old handle warning me it might not work properly. Well it didn't. I called and the company sent out the same plumber and he came with a brass handle but said that it would cost me $45 in parts----no service call because the work had been guaranteed, Well I complained saying that it was still part of the old repair and the plumber said it was more important to have a happy costumer than the extra cost in parts and did not charge me. I was very surprised and truly believe that B & W wants to have satisfied costumers.

This is a case of Caveat Emptor. Not a complaint about B&W's abilities (they are good tradesmen) B&W quotes per job once they are on site. It turned out I had a broken garbage disposal (it had a perforation which he showed me) and it was causing the sink to back up. The plumber quoted me $500 to install a new disposal (Insinkerator Badger 5). He also recommended--optional--that the disposal be moved to the other side to create better 'fall' in the pipe and avoid future problems. That would bring the job to $800.00. It sounded awfully high so I passed. However, I was charged $156 for the plunging. That felt high too but I paid. Subsequently, I called my usual go-to plumber (he'd been unavailable) and he quoted me $255 for a new Badger w/installation. I also got a second quote in that same price range from a neighbor's plumber. Apparently, in the plumbing food chain, installing a new garbage disposal is pretty basic. Neither plumber saw any reason to move the disposal to the other side, and in 10 years this was only the 2nd clog I'd had. It occurred to me to call the Insinkerator company and they looked up my old disposal. They said it was still within the 2-year warranty so they drop shipped me a new one for FREE. I hired my usual 'go to' licensed plumber, and for $95 it was installed. I wrote to B&W and shared my comparison shopping experience. I will give them an "A" for the courtesy of a response but a C- for accepting objective evidence of what is usual and customary in the Indianapolis region for a run of the mill job. I was very explicit that I wanted B&W to consider their pricing on this day, $156 for a plunging, coupled with the exorbitant quote for the disposal and my subsequent hassle in trying verify their quote. I asked them to get back to me directly as I believed they were entitled to an opportunity to make things right without me posting to Angie's List. Well, they refused to admit their pricing was well above usually and customary (stating they are the "Nordstrom" of plumbing) so I advised them I would go ahead and write a review detailing my experience. I received a refund within 24 hours. I don't like pulling teeth or shaming anyone. I gave them an opportunity to keep a customer and I would have been very happy to pay for a reasonable service call. Great plumber/tradesmen but dishonest pricing--for me that's a no go.

We had a twenty year old Bradford White gas water heater that started to leak about 4 months ago. It was next to the sump pit so I did not worry about it too much. Gradually, the leak got bigger, and yesterday the water coming out was hot, so I decided it was time to pull the plug. All these events also occurred on a Saturday/Sunday, so essentially I could have saved money just by fixing it when I first noticed the problem, but I digress - things always seem to break on weekends and holidays. Anyway, I have had good experience with B&W on the HVAC side, so I decided to try out their plumbing. On Saturday evening I called Home Depot Home Installation, and visited to see their products and pricing. Did not hear back from them, so I picked the unit I wanted and planned on butting up that pricing against the 'off the truck' pricing at B&W. I was going to consider using the Home Depot installer because the larger corporation backs it up, but after I talked to B&W, I figured it was better to have water on Sunday than wait for Home Depot's installer call back. The price from B&W was around $650 for the labor. If I wanted a top-of-the-line Bradford White (sold by B&W) that would cost me about $1650. I ended up buying the best I could find at Home Depot and having B&W install that; which saved me about $300. The whole process had a bit of a premium because of the Sunday install, but installer was here for a solid 3 hours and the new system looked great when he was done. In my head I had fantasized about doing all the labor myself, but having seen it done in person, it would have taken me too long, and then I would have an empty tank to recycle, so I think I got a superior hybrid solution. FYI, I paid about $600 for the hardware at Home Depot and did not get the unit with the fancy electronic control system. My system is the 50 gallon 40,000 BTU Rheem Model XG50T12HE40U0 (SKU 1000034931). The best part of the process was dealing with Randy, who has installed more hot water tanks than I have put shoes on in the morning, and the quality of his work show his experience. If I had to have someone come work at my house on Sunday, it would be him. We called B&W at 700 AM and everything was done by 12:30 PM, and was cleaner than when they arrived. GDS

I bought a new house in January 2013 and one of the most attractive features was a huge and high efficiency heating and air conditioning system from American Standard. Now, when I bought the house there were no issues found during inspection, and the furnace itself is a beast. I transferred the warrantee from the prior owner and everything was fine until it got really cold that first winter - I think it must have been February. Anyway, I noticed that the system was just not keeping up, and the amount of current being pulled by the blowers was so high that the breaker in the main power box was vibrating. Eventually the breaker tripped leaving us with no blower and no heat. I could reset the system at the box, but it would all happen again at a future cold date - something fundamental was wrong. Anyway, I remembered that I had the warrantee and called up B&W directly. Their technician came out, replaced the board for free and the system worked again. I was pretty happy with things and even had B&W come in twice a year for system maintenance; which was required per the warrantee - it was a small cost compared to the cost of a fix or replacement. Anyway, the following winter (late 2013), to my and my family's surprise, the exact same thing occurred again on a really cold day, and this time we had no heat at all and had to sleep next to the fireplace until B&W could come the next morning. Their technician did the same thing (replaced the board) and things seems to be okay. Now, I was starting to suspect a problem with their boards, and then it happened again (that is three if you are counting). B&W was calm and diligent in their response to this weird situation, and the last time they came they sent someone who was a senior technician. He came in and checked out the system and found nothing wrong. However, right before he was about to leave, my wife said something to the effect of their changing the boards, and he said, "They changed the board?" He went back downstairs and before leaving had diagnosed the problem as an installation issue where two black wires (one going to the blower and one going the electrostatic precipitator (not installed)) had somehow gotten switched, and believe it or not, that fixed the problem. This last winter was glorious and we had no issues with the furnace, thank goodness. Now, I waited a while to write this review just in case the Winter of 2014/15 led us to another board failure. I am an engineer, and know how difficult it can be to come in after someone else has created a problem, diagnose it, and then fix it. B&W employees, office, and management were always great to deal with and were never unprofessional, no matter how many times that had to come back. I guess I could harbor sour grapes over their taking three attempts to fix the problem, but I think that is what stands out to me: they could have just bailed, but instead they hung in there and made sure the solution was right. Sticking with it is not only the sign of a quality company, it is a reflection of the people who work there and the management. So, I am writing this note more than a year late because B&W took an experience that could have been really bad, and turned it into a positive one. I am certain the prior owner thought they dumped a lemon on me with that big expensive furnace, but now I have something that makes the whole house comfortable, and will be a great selling point if I every decide to move. We used the online tool to schedule B&W when our toilets started backing up. Our tech checked the sewer line (we have a very large and old maple in the front yard that sometimes gets aggressive in the spring) and found it to be in good shape for its age and did not think it was the problem. Given the large amount of rain and the recent shedding of the tree of it's seeds, he felt it might have been a clog in our vent pipe and my husband decided he would check that out himself. Toilet flushed fine until two days later after excessive rain. A trip to the roof to try flushing the vents found that they weren't the problem. We rang B&W again and the same guy stopped out and wondered what had happened. He clearly remembered us and the situation. He turned the camera scope back the other way toward the house and found the problem. It was done in a jiffy and we are now without problems.

The work went well and there have not been any issues with the replacement.

Oh my gosh, I can't believe I got so lucky (more like blessed) to have discovered this company. My hot water heater had been defaulting to "vacation mode" so our showers were barely lukewarm for a couple of days. I called B&W after hearing their ad on WIBC (Chicks on the Right ;) and hoped for the best. Plumber Dave arrived within the hour!! He cleaned the heat sensor (hope that's correct) and fixed the problem! Dave was very personable and professional and I trusted him right away. He was an expert in the type of unit we have and I could tell immediately he knew what he was doing. As long as I'm living in central Indiana I will never call anyone else. Plumber Dave is the best. Called before he came Told me right off how much the sprinkler system would be and what he would be doing. The leaking faucet was a serious problem that could have resulted in a lot more. But Dave walked me through the options and was able to fix it without replacing the whole unit. He is very thorough and professional.

Fortunately for me, B & W has an honest representative because it turned out there is nothing wrong with my heat pump. Their representative had to do most of the typical work done in a seasonal tune up to be sure that my system was in fact OK. Because of his honesty, I signed an annual service contract with B & W.....and I also received the Angie's List discount. Great service, and nice to know that they can be trusted! Because the service was free, I did not rate on price. However, the value was a clear A+ for me.

I had B&W install a couple of sink faucets, a new shower kit , fix a leaky under sink valve as well as move the hot and cold water pipes over a few inches to accommodate a new vanity. The provider had to cut a large hole in the drywall in my bedroom to get at the back of the shower hardware in the next room. Much of it was technical work and took the provider three quarters of the day to complete . The work was professional and well done. My only complaint is the a la carte pricing for each job instead of an hourly rate. The total was $1399 which I do not think was good value. To be fair I was told the pricing model before the gentleman started work but after he had arrived. As I had the drywall repair guy coming the next day I felt stuck.
